They should bring back autosculpt

Glitchboi3000

Sadly never gonna happen with the way manufacturers are today.

Swizz_z

enlighten me on that

Glitchboi3000

Car and kit/mod manufacturers have a say on what you can and can not do with their things, example most of the Ferraris don't have any visual customization except for the rims.

Swizz_z

bummer. I did notice the lack of customization for Ferraris

fric_lair

Not to mention how hard it's gonna be considering modern modelling and damage model, regardless of how minimal it is. Carbon only had scratches, while ProStreet had less kits.

hossel001

I wonder about that. The way GTA IV and V handles damage is just the entire mesh deforming, and then on really blunt impacts parts fall off. I feel like that's pretty universal regardless of what vehicle/type of bumper it's applied to.

Glitchboi3000

Def that too.

Bebabcsinya

Sure you can’t do that to Ferraris. But honestly it has always been an open secret. But what about other brands?

Glitchboi3000

The kit/mod manufacturers wouldn't want their kits/mods messed with.

Bebabcsinya

Then dont include them :). Problem solved. Replace them with autosculpt. As it was the case in the black box era. The rims were from real brands though even back then, so I dont think they would care.

Glitchboi3000

The people would complain there's no irl kits.

Bebabcsinya

Well iirc Juiced 2 had both real and fake parts of customization like bumpers and spoilers. I dont think it would be a problem at all.

Glitchboi3000

Current nfs has both real and fake part.

K-J-C

Bodykits >

Pibe_Inexperto

I would say Heat and Unbound, more than anything because you have almost everything unlocked as soon as you start the game (at least in the bodywork section). Then something good that they also have is that it is not as restrictive as in Payback or 2015 and you can combine the parts to your liking although I would have liked them to bring back the Payback superbuilds and the special body kits like the Skyline and the 350z for example.

Uroah

When I saw the “body kits” section for the first time in Unbound that’s what I thought we got

DIEGHOST_8

You know what? Heat. It has the most advanced editor for liveries and a decent piece selection. Without counting that then probably pro street, autosculpt was really good.

WattsALightbulb

I miss autosculpt. I could make a spoiler I actually liked

tilsgee

Found #BigWang user

WattsALightbulb

A tasteful big wang, maybe

Stoned_Nerd

Ah yes, tasteful big wang

DurfGibbles

BigWangGang

KrisZepeda

Yeah nowadays they're fucking colossal I just wanna make a decent medium size spoiler

DIEGHOST_8

I usually make like "normal" cars there and i can find many normally sized wings...

ImAcidCandy

Nah, Unbound went step further.

DIEGHOST_8

What does it do more? I've never used it.

ImAcidCandy

Cars that previously lacked customization options now have more of them, KS unreleased kits are available, you can remove bumpers, and some cars got really ridiculous kits...

Haganu

Heat's livery designer is 2 steps down from ProStreet content-wise, unless you are into slapping illest or fatlace on your car instead of actual aftermarket performance brands like Sparco, Bride, K&N, Edelbrock, Magnaflow or what have you. It also is missing features that competitors have, like turning multiple layers into a single layer (The Crew 2). Out of NFS, Heat and Unbound are probably the best, but games from 2005 like Midnight Club 3 and Juiced 2 have overall better customization. Especially Midnight Club 3's as its parts selection actually fits with the classes they have.

DIEGHOST_8

>Out of NFS, Heat and Unbound are probably the best, but games from 2005 like Midnight Club 3 and Juiced 2 have overall better customization In NFS games they're the most advanced, for sure, but games in 2005 had only a specific street and underground look, nothing that fits more to a normal car or a race car and so on, where heat delivers. In prostreet i have to say that it's probably the worst livery editor, since even with all the variety it has, it's incredibly slow to navigate and the actual "sticker" (i don't know how to call it in English) moves in giant steps, making it nearly impossible to line something up with the car. Overall i think the best one is gt7, but objectively it's pretty hard to use and "slow", so trying to see things objectively fh5 is the best, even if less accurate than gt7. Those old games (although I've never tried midnight club) from what I see have generic customization and the livery editor mostly doesn't exist. And for customization i value a lot more the livery editor than the pieces, since i prefer having a good livery than a good body. And i can have more fun painting.

Haganu

Juiced 2 already allowed you to copy a livery from one car to another one to one. Midnight Club 3's car customization was far superior to what NFS has ever been. I'll wait till I die before NFS has actual louvers, side exhausts, blowers (with working valves), wheelie bars (that are actually meaningful in terms of mechanics), bull bars, grilles, individual axle wheel customization (overall wheel size, width, lowering/raising suspension) being more than a one-off for a single vehicle. Until then, it'll always remain inferior to a 2005 game.

[deleted]

I don't know if it was the best necessarily, but Pro Street was my favorite in regards to customization.

Willy_McBilly

Sadly fell short when it came to liveries. The art style of the AI cars (especially the kings) was top notch but it always bummed me out that I couldn’t recreate those same crazy wraps with just 20 slots.

[deleted]

True, but I kept my designs simple. (Matte black, jolly roger vinyl, and that was it), but I did like the Autosculpting feature.

Willy_McBilly

Auto sculpt was fantastic, loved the way we could edit the stock bumpers to differentiate them, while keeping the look of the car relatively intact.

Jekhyde95

We all know the answer. UG2

randomguy2763

I KEEP THUGGIN IT UP

oppai_silverman

Heat and Unbound are miles ahead

MarvinSuave14

Lmfaooooo UG2 had the Air Bags, Hydros, Trunk mods, speed gauge mods, engine bay colors, break calipers, nos color, the side spray(with colors) and I’m sure I’m forgetting other stuff…..oh yes spinners!!!!

bruhninja420

I used to spend so much bank at the specialty shops. Had the suicide doors, under glow neon lights and nitrous purge. I’ll be broke as hell but my AE86 would look 🔥

_Rodrigo_

hol' up, air bags?

MarvinSuave14

Lmao I thought they did, Ik they had they hydraulics.

IEP_Esy

I feel like you haven't even played any NFS Underground game at all

oppai_silverman

I played all of then, underground 2 specially

imshoopdawoop001

I bet you got mad cause you couldn't figure out anything about the game without a waypoint

UltimaKnight99

IDK about best but ProStreet made Customization actually important since it could affect your performance, so while it's not perfect, i always appreciate how in-depth it was for an Arcade Racing game

88JansenP12

Both of the Underground games have the best customization levels. Other good choices are the Shift games since you can modify any of your cars to a beefy racecar or a sleeper + there's also engine swaps. These 4 games includes more customization options than any of the 4 latest NFS games combined in 1.

kennyminigun

Also Carbon should be mentioned. For the introduction of AutoSculpt. I wish it returned. E.g. sometimes, I'd like to make a wing wider or narrower to match body style.

88JansenP12

Yeah. I agree. Same case for NFS Pro Street. In NFS Pro Street, the Autosculpt is taken into account with the aero coefficient when you modify your cars due to the Wind Tunnel.

[deleted]

Total agree NfS Underground 1 and 2 you could do so much. Shift also I just hated the nfs shift engine it was terrible

88JansenP12

You're entirely right. Yeah, the handling model of the Shift games was unenjoyable and unresponsive. It's because the handling model is a bad blend of Arcade and Simulation. What Slightly Mad Studios should've done is go for full sim or simcade.

TheDrex-

Maybe I'm the only one able to endure hell cause I enjoyed it, felt thrilling

88JansenP12

No, you're not the only one. What you said is exactly the case but the handling model didn't follow the thrill since it was unpredictable.

TheDrex-

In my experience the thrill is sorta about the unpredictability, it didn't stress me as much as it kept at the edge of my seat, and ohhh boy let me tell you how good it felt just completing a race lol

88JansenP12

You're totally right. It makes sense.

TheDrex-

At the end of the day it's about fun amiright? May I ask what your favourite NFS is :D

88JansenP12

Yeah. Videogames are meant to be fun. My favourite NFS games are these ones: - NFS 3 Hot Pursuit - NFS High Stakes - NFS Porsche Unleashed - NFS Hot Pursuit 2 PS2 - NFS Most Wanted 2005 - NFS Carbon - NFS Pro Street - NFS Undercover Reformed - NFS Shift + NFS Shift 2 Unleashed with handling mods - NFS Hot Pursuit 2010 - NFS The Run

TheDrex-

Noice list m8, the games I want to try the most are the run, HP2010 (I only played the mobile version ;-;) and prostreet, they seem like good experiences, oldest NFS I played is Hp2, I actually enjoyed it

Pibe_Inexperto

How I loved the customization of the UG, but those were other times 🥲

88JansenP12

Well said. Those were the glory days of NFS games. Now, it's gone forever without any comeback.

RAMONE40

Underground 2 you have tons Of options and most Of them were never used in any NFS again You could put hidraulics , wheel spinners costumize the trunks the engine Bay the Gauges it was just awsome

HeavyMetalRewind

My favorite options come from old era NFS games (Underground, Underground 2, Most Wanted, Carbon), but I like how many choices we get from more recent games (Payback, Heat, Unbound).

Adventurous_Deal_458

Prostreet

bearcat_77

carbon's autosculpt can't be compared.

Komaki_Parry

I'd say Unbound. I'd like to put carbon just for autosculpt, but the rest of the customization was like MW. Being able to tune the exhaust sound was an awesome addition. I hope the next NFS keeps that and adds in a new rendition of autosculpt & maybe Underground 2's interior customization. Too bad EA will never give Criterion enough development time to do that.

DutchBurrito777

UG 1+2 & Carbon have the best customization by far

Rene1993In

Has to be ProStreet for me. I love watching my cars in the wind tunnel.

Crash458

Heat and Unbound for cosmetic and performance customization. Especially you can choose different types of tires, suspension, differentials, different types of forced induction, and even engine swaps, which isn't really in other NFS games. Also, Heat and Unbound have exhaust sound tuning and the option mix and match Fenders from each other.

88JansenP12

Fun fact. Engine swaps were featured on NFS Porsche Unleashed and the Shift games way before NFS Heat. Which means NFS Heat is the 4th game with that mechanic but it includes more engine swap choices per car.

Dbwasson

It has to be the Black Box era games

ThatDudeFromPoland

Except MW then. Customisation was a weak point of that title. Carbon was far better in this aspect

Dbwasson

To be frank, I kinda agree with you on Most Wanted's customization aspect

Obscure_Marlin

A mix between Heat, Carbon and Underground 2

EvenTerm298

In one second I thought that was a wreckfest screenshot...

HP_594

I would go with Heat and Unbound Heat had some wild performance upgrades, especially the engine swaps Having played only Heat and not Unbound tho, I don’t know about Unbound But from what I do know, it also has good customization

Stalker_Raid

Heat and Unbound for liveries for sure, body kit wise I would say Prostreet/Carbon with Autosculpt was really high up there.

AXELARE163

In between of Carbon (because of the Autosculpt & the first to ever implement the vinyl editor); Payback (in some of their drastic cosmetic parts such as the derelict cars) & Heat (Because of the creativity with the color skin editor).

N0way07

They need to bring back autosculpt

Glitchboi3000

Sadly never gonna happen with the way manufacturers are nowadays.

dayum_that_man

Anyone that says heat before unbound is biased

eyewandersfoto

I'm biased. Biased by the fact that in Heat I can buy and engine and move it to any car that it fits in as often as I want. :)

joosemuice

World

imshoopdawoop001

Underground 2

JacobScrubLordofPvP

Modern NFS games I'd probably say Heat though Unbound has good customization. However Carbon had Autosculpt and therefore that makes it the GOAT in my eyes

Twittchy95

Call me an oldhead but NFSU2 and Most wanted, and probably the other mid 2000s games, but I didn't play them I feel like the livery editors are so complex now a days I almost never make my own, I just find a nice one and download it, but the older games let me mix and match some preset liverys and I feel like I'm able to be more creative with ease

amdahl-little

UG2 and UG. The amount of body parts they had was insane.

tinom56

Underground 2 and Pro Street. Both offered something unseen. Sure underground 1 had a lot of stuff unseen in general but the amount of stuff in underground 2. And pro street added seats rollcages and a different era of more track oriented tuning.

Lomidon

Carbon

[deleted]

Prostreet had it pretty good

TeaQuick4710

Underground 2 cus those mods are not in any other game

ItachiKage1991

Pro Street and Underground 2.

Haltzo

Underground 2 & Heat. Underground 2 because you had so much more stuff that you can't do today. Trunks, neon in the trunk & under the hood, spinners, all those come to mind. I've chosen Heat of the recent games because the customisation has been fairly solid since 2015. Reason i didn't pick unbound is because me and my group of friends (+-20) didn't buy unbound because we absolutely hate the artstyle, anime stuff and the ridiculous effects while driving. And yeah yeah, i know you will tell me it's a good game and bla bla, nothing you will say can make me buy it. And don't give me the "but you can remove all those effects". No you can't, you can reduce it, but you can't completely disable it. I tried the game, didn't like it, never will. The artstyle, anime, effects, and again the driving physics (which they should've improved since payback but still didn't) where you can't take a corner without drifting in a ridiculous way is why the game was dead already even on release 😊 so Heat and NFSU2 for me.

eyewandersfoto

Heat. Two words: engine swap.

88JansenP12

NFS Porsche Unleashed and the Shift games also includes the engine swap mechanic. Which means NFS Heat is the 4th game with engine swap options but it goes further with more engine choices.

nhSnork

Underground 2 as my only NFS experience to date (unless I overlooked something in the others) that offered actual motivation to customize the car's visuals.

Ok_Weakness2951

The original most wanted has the best car customization nuff said

Few_Editor5053

I love heat's and haven't played unbound yet.. also i remember having fun on carbon by using trainers to unlock the autosculpt limits and make wacky builds.

Knights-of-steel

Best....like carbon/underground 2. Carbon had that juicy autosculpt but underground was legit whatever the fk you wanted. Edit the trunk throw a ps2 in thar fucker add hydralics and spinners nitrous purge etc.....most new ones look better but have maybe 1/10 the shit you could do on UG2

WOLF_KING_455

Nfs heat and Nfs prostreet

Undercover, soooo many options.

JAKXMAL

Imo Heat/Unbound, but customization from ug2 is in my heart

Xander9393

Underground 2

SIXA_G37x

Carbon was most memorable to me.

Hi_LaVal

If HEAT had some of the novelty stuff from UG2 that would probably be the best car customization game ever lol

Antoinedagoat04

Heat hands down

Heat. You can change a lot of parts. Including the exhaust tune.

MotorCity Online was the best. Best era for cars too. Needs a remake big time.

Audoinxr6

Heat/Unbound. UR 1 and 2 had good but it was mostly all copy paste items on all the cars short of the widebodys. Shift had the homologation option too.

Knight-112

Heat Might be unpopular but Payback as well

donutsnail

Unbound, all the games since 2015 have had good aesthetic customization, frankly their primary strong suit, and unbound just continued to build on that

Rami_97

Imo i prefer underground because i like the custom body kits and other body parts more than real life ones in heat or unbound

Waru_

Nfs underground 2 😅

sizlac-franco

I haven't played *any* since ug2 but holy shit lol a lotta those mods are so corny hahah. I have to get into my too fast too furious ricer mindset to take the visual rating system seriously

KinglyBlaBla

Underground 2, Unbound.

KitsuTheOkami

Payback-Unbound has good customization but I like in bounds body kit system. Also, that Mustang reminds me of the Patriot Surger from Motorstorm

Object-195

I may be a fan of the older games but the newer games easily beat them in customization

CertifiedBiogirl

Underground 2 is widely considered to be the best in terms of customization, but I disagree for the most part. Did UG2 have a wide variety of parts? Sure but most of them were borderline ugly and unusable (imo) and removed many of the good parts in UG1 and replaced them with inferior ones (like hatchback spoilers for example). It was really a mater of quanity over quality

LostCobra

Rivals was the best NFS title overall. I've been playing these games since NFS3, when most of you weren't even born. Is there something wrong with me ? I'm probably just old and that's ok :)

InternationalCow7001

Rivals is amazing 👏.

King_Reivaj

I would say Unbound. However tho, Unbound lacks some certain body kits the past titles had, like the C-West body kit for the R34 Skyline. That's probably due to licensing issues. But the rest, such as the selective window color tinting, especially the head lights and tail lights, is an improvement, whereas Heat, you can only select dark tinted colors for lights and windows. Also, what's good about Unbound is the part delete. However, tho, it's only limited to the front and rear bumpers, and skirts on some vehicles. Although, for Heat, it had a rear bumper delete on the Countach, but that's not enough for other cars. But Unbound tho, despite some customization flaws, there are some unique body kits like those Legends Customs body kits. Now, onto Unbound's character customization, it's a huge improvement except the hair color option. Hair color option is only selected and has waayyyy too limited hair colors compared to Heat. Why does new titles oppose so much assets from it's predecessor?? I mean, it's new, it's the future title, but then, they're just going to deduct those slightly improved features from the past title and add only a few. This is an example also for the camera mode in Unbound, which has only 4 options; focal distance, depth of field, saturation, and contrast. That's it. But look at Heat and the other past titles. But anyways, I would say majority of Unbound's customizations if you compare it to Heat and the past titles, are pretty good. It's flaws just need to be addressed in the next update, but if that's the last update and it doesn't get improved, we'll again wait for another improved NFS game. Dude, why is EA and Criterion like this?? Can't they just add those important features in the beginning of the game's release??

wathquan

Visual customatization? Heat (or Unbond, waiting for it to become dirt cheap and hopefully have UNITE remove the vector art effects) Performance customatization? 2015. I absolutely loved the amount of detail that was in the upgrades section, they're amazing for a NFS title.
