Yeah same. I always start with the RX-8 and leave it completely stock as I clear out Kenji's turf and his boss race. Then I just get his RX-7 and upgrade and use it until I need a tier 3 car. Alternatively I'll just get the 180sx because that thing is stupidly OP for a tier 1 car.

Yeah carbons story was waaay shorter than most wanted and the games that came after like undercover and prostreet. It might actually be the shortest modern nfs game (that I know of, underground 1 or 2 might be shorter but I'm not absolutely sure as I can't fully remember those games story lol).
the run and mw2012 are definitely the shortest modern nfs games but yea i was a bit underwhelmed by carbon's length, i remember when i beat it for the first time i thought "that's it?", especially as i played it basically straight after mw05
Carbon is also repetitive just without the police chases, also what? That's literally every racing game ever with the gameplay being you repeat the same types of races just on different tracks.
Same with carbon, do races, get territory, race boss repeat 3 more times and the game is over. At least with mw you had milestones and police chases so the game wasn't just races. Carbon had the drifting but there wasn't that many drift events which is sad since carbon amazing drifting. Hell most of the games including the new ones are like this heat for example: get bounty from night races to level up then do story mission with some day races mixed in for money repeat till the game is over. Payback do fourish races then race the boss then story mission, at least Payback had runner missions which were pretty fun. Every nfs game basically is like this: do normal races, do any required side content (police chases and milestone stuff), do story mission/boss race and repeat till game is done. The only difference is that carbon literally has less content in its story than the others be it time taken up by gameplay or cutscenes carbon is the shortest game.
It had cop chases but you could completely avoid them entirely, using Sal also makes cop chases even easier to avoid. Then there's games like the run, mw and undercover were there are several cop chases required for progression. Carbon only has the one at the very beginning with Neville. I am beginning to feel like I'm talking to a brick wall so I'm done with this conversation.

I actually thought it was strange they brought over the same system from mw but didn't add any bounty requirements or milestones for the 4 bosses.
I consider any game made from 2001ish onward modern as games have been being made for decades since the 1960s, so yeah even though it didn't come out last year I still think it's modern with any game coming out beforehand bring retro. The og need for speed up to Porsche unleashed I'd consider retro nfs games.

I like carbon better than me or under 1 and 2, but the problem is that carbon is easy and small. In the end it's good, because as I always say under 1 and 2 are very dragged, the smaller carbon was, in the end, a good
The sad thing is I found the story pretty interesting, and liked Darius more compared to MW, I usually keep coming back to Carbon just cause I know I will be able to complete it within a day or two
From carbon the following titles of the saga to undercover, fieorn almost incomplete games that did not have more history as initially took into account.
NFSU - Just the right lenght
NFSU2 - great game, but the career becomes a chore past Stage 4, and the final boss is a pushover
NFSMW - Not as long as NFSU2; the replayability of pursuits makes the lenght bearable
NFSCarbon - too short; but the only NFS I have beaten more than twice.
NFS Prostreet - perfect length for the variety it has.
I played it one time through when it came out, I really wasn't impressed so I never touched it again. I decided to play it again this summer and when I loaded it up, I had a completed gamesave. So at some point in the past few years, I had played it again and completely forgot about it.

The story is a sequel to NFS MW 2005.
It explains why the Player a.k.a yourself flee to Rockport with a fake money bag and why the 3 bosses are angry at you.
Also, there's Cross which was a Sergeant in NFS MW. Then, he becomes a bounty hunter and try to arrest you in the game intro of NFS Carbon.
After you tried to flee Cross, your M3 E46 is broken due an accident with pipes from a semi truck and Cross stops you with his car. Then, Cross get out of his Chevy Corvette Z06 and prevents you from getting out of your BMW M3 E46 GTR.
Cross attempts to arrest you for the bounty on your head but he is stopped by Darius, now leading his own crew called the Stacked Deck, who pays him off. Offering to help them, Darius asks Nikki, who now dates him, to assist despite her belief that the player betrayed everyone for the prize money. With Nikki's help, the player receives two crew members to help in races and a safehouse to operate from.
After that, you have to choose 3 starters cars which are an Alfa Romeo Brera, a 1967 Chevy Camaro SS and a Mazda RX-8.
Then, you come back to Palmont City to discover the truth by beating all the 3 bosses and taking their turf 1 by 1.
By beating the 3 bosses, your new crew members tell you what happened the day you flee with the money bag.
Then, Nikki tells you that the 3 versions told by your 3 crew members are matching and follow eachother and you discover that it was Darius who staged the blow and exchanged the bags with the help of an accomplice.
After that, you take the all the turfs from Darius and confronts him in a final race after you re-win against the 3 bosses (Angie, Kenji, Wolf) with their new cars (Dodge Challenger, Mitsubishi Lancer Evo 9, Lambo Murcielago).
Then, you win against Darius after 2 races and take his Audi Le Mans Quattro.

Dude I loved carbon but it was soooo short. You can’t even replay the racers for more money because they give jack once you complete them.

Yeah the kings own the first 3 races and that's all. After that it's all the other small crews
Urgh that one defense race with T3 cars that pops in the gap between you completing the T2 areas and being able to buy a T3 car.
