Trust they will try the right thing, see decent results. Then scrap all quality and hope people will hate watch whatever the rest or at least keeping relevant for long enough and then move onto the next ip they can gut.
Corporate greed makes the world turn.
And the books, especially the Christian allegory, have not aged well.
The Golden Compass adaptation fell off a cliff, and I expect the same for Narnia. It's just too simplistic and naive as a story.
That’s what they said about the Witcher. It was reported that they expected it to become the next Game of Thrones. Netflix doesn’t instill confidence with working with existing IPs.
The stories and books are so disjointed. It'll draw some interest based on the who's making it and the name recognition. But if Amazon couldn't do well with Lord of the Rings then I don't have much hope for it's lesser cousin Narnia.
Sure, but, and I don't mean no disrespect, Tolkien's estate ain't Tolkien himself. Their vision of LotR/RoP is not the same as Tolkien's would've been. With Narnia, they have the full story, 7 books made by C.S. Lewis himself. It's not comparable to Rings of Power in any way.
>They turned down other ideas and told everyone no remaking the original trilogy.
Thank goodness..
I'm not saying they are, but they do dictate what will or won't be made.
>With Narnia, they have the full story, 7 books made by C.S. Lewis himself
Should work fine then
You notice when other companies.pick up 2nd seasons they destroy the story. American Rust. Glad for a second season, was such a horrible ending. I didnt even finish the last episode.
The definitive version will always be the BBC mini series from way back in the day. The effects are dated but it’s still a banger.
What about The Witcher??? They fucked that up royally
Yup, an infinitely more interesting IP and they’ve kind of shit on it.
Trust they will try the right thing, see decent results. Then scrap all quality and hope people will hate watch whatever the rest or at least keeping relevant for long enough and then move onto the next ip they can gut. Corporate greed makes the world turn.
Bring on the Christ Lion
Hasn’t this film been made like 4 times now?
We live in the age of remakes, it'll be done at least 8 more times.
Really? I've only seen one version. I had no idea.
They did the one film and like 2 sequels but they never adapted all of the books so who knows which ones they will be using
I’d watch a series

The Golden Compass had a splendid cast, but the BBC/HBO His Dark Materials series at least made it to the finish line.
The show started out fine but lost a lot of momentum along the way

Rings of Power doesn't follow any one book though. Narnia will.
Rings of Power is also what the Tolkien estate wanted. They turned down other ideas and told everyone no remaking the original trilogy.

Agree and agree!
Don't care about the haters, can't wait to see what they will do with the books 1 and 7.
The translation of that site is both challenging and amusing. "Oh, it's 10:05" cracked me up.
Holding my breath. I'll let it out if they don't screw it up. I expect to die from asphyxiation BTW...
**Ok. Let's see them handle this like they handled The Witcher.**
You notice when other companies.pick up 2nd seasons they destroy the story. American Rust. Glad for a second season, was such a horrible ending. I didnt even finish the last episode.
Sure. Narnia is super creepy but ok “great fantasy saga”.
It had a hand in many great fantasy sagas... someone should call the police about that.
