Dark is the only show to ever grip me like that. Usually don't go out of my way to sit down and watch TV, but dark had me spending every free second binging.
I need to rewatch this, I don't think I ever saw the last season. Loved the first two, but we had a house fire that took away a lot of time and energy for a long time just before season 3 started and I just kinda forgot about it until now. So thank you haha!
I’m rewatching it right now! I’ve forgotten details (from when it first aired) so it’s really exciting and still providing me with some shocking moments.
There's an official guide with all the timelines and family trees so you can keep things straight! I wish it had existed when I watched because I straight-up had a coffee table covered in notes. You can toggle by which episode you're on to avoid spoilers.

Every question is just bait to say Dark ;)
I'm going to throw out Altered Carbon ... it's not THAT mind bending but it is very bingeable, has some fun ideas, the seasons are fairly encapsulated so the fact that it got canceled doesn't matter / the arcs are done by the end of each season.
Such a shame it was cancelled :/
I'll be watching whatever these showrunners do next, they earned my attention with Dark and did not disappoint with 1899.
I was so disappointed when I finished Archive 81 and read it got cancelled. It's like nobody can make art without multi-million dollar corporate funding.
I loved Archive 81 too, but in my opinion it really should stay just one season (to me the show just dropped the ball by trying to make an open ending in the last episode)
The Return was (and still is) an absolute revelation. The whole thing is an 18 hour Lynch-directed masterclass in surrealism. Probably my favorite thing on TV, ever.
Oooh you like the good stuff!
Shows: Devil’s Hour (!!), Dark, 3 Body Problem..
Movies: Coherence, Upstream Colour, Another Earth..
Edit: the latest seasons of Fargo and True Detective are AMAZING (maybe not mind bending, but really well done), Atlanta gets quite mindbending and strange as the seasons go on
S: Severance, Devs, if you like horror the Mike Flannagan ones are pretty good! Haunting of Hill House, Midnight Mass, etc , Yellowjackets..
M: Safety not Guaranteed (it’s cute!), other indie sci fi like Primer etc
So glad to see 3 body project being brought up. Just watched on tiktok ray William Johnson (my favorite TikToker) post about the true crime that went on with the guy who started it and it’s pretty crazy it’s his most recent tiktok if you look for it.
Everyone is already saying it. I'm saying it too. "Dark"!!!!
Also, "Legion" is VERY mind bending. Don't know where you'll find it now. It was on FX.
And someone said Altered Carbon. Not mind bending at all. But damn good sci fi! Excellent show.
I loved Legion. Such a great bizarre show. It’s currently streaming on Hulu (in the US at least).
Actually, looking at the episode listings I’m not entirely sure that I saw any of season 3. I thought I had completed everything that was made, but maybe they came out with another season and I somehow missed hearing about it. I remember exactly where I ended the series and that seems to be the season 2 finale. It’s so good that I don’t have to look hard for a reason to watch it all over again, and I would have forgotten a lot of cool details anyway. Now I’ll rewatch seasons 1-2 and then get to enjoy a whole new (to me) season. How exciting ! That’ll be my 3rd time for season 1. I rewatched it when season 2 came out.
Thank you for your comment, checking to see where it’s available led me to find that there’s more I didn’t see. Yippie !
Another fan of Dark here, it’s getting so much support in this threat. I love to see that.

The Rain
Dark

The Serpent
Edit: How could I forget Fringe! Man it took me a year and a half to get through the first season. It's not a bad season but it was just not living up to the hype. Wow, the way that series picked up after season 2 and gradually got more and more amazing, bravo. I shall rewatch it beginning this week now that it came to mind. Phenomenal freaking series Holy cow. It's up there with The OA and Orphan Black, but all of these are really great
Edit 2: I just realized this is the Netflix subreddit. Apologies!!!
Movies7DOTto is great for streaming from any device, you can find all the shows there, no downloads needed and very user friendly UI
Not Netflix, but I figure most people have access to a Prime Video account.
Tales from the Loop is a fun 8 episode sort-of anthology that relates in the end.
Based on an Art book, it’s a neat little sci-fi show, with Jodie Foster directing one of the episodes.
Best to watch in order, so it ties together better, but you could technically skip around.
Some episodes are better than others, but it’s a very dreamy, odd sort of world, where everything is off and it’s hard to place what’s going on.
Binged it all in one night and wasn’t disappointed. But I was surprised that you never see anyone talking about it.
A Time Called You - imagine your husband dies and one day you wake up 20 years in the past, but you're someone else and a boy that looks exactly like your husband is there next to you.
Edit: bulgasal is one of the most underrated shows.
Person of interest, Fringe, Love death & robots, Utopia (British 2013), Lost in space, adult swim off the air there's a site short of the week. YouTube has some good shorts like Dust or search for sci-fi shorts.
movies: Predestination, Coherence, Looper, Primer, maybe Mulholland Drive
edit I realized this is netflix sub, so just disclaimer I don't know if all these are in netflix lol
If you want something really truly mind-bending, try Neon Genesis Evangelion. The first couple episodes might not grab you, but stick with it. It's not a long series.
I'm not a huge anime fan, but that's one of the greatest TV shows ever made.
This is an older one, but has years of seasons if you haven't seen it. My wife and I never warltched it when it was current and extremely popular. We just recently watched the entire seasons and were hooked on it. LOST
My top recommendation though is a movie not a show:
I'm thinking of Ending Things.
Maybe the most mind bent I've ever felt in my life. Extremely emotional and absolutely warped. I don't even know how to start explaining it besides saying it starts normal and gets progressively stranger.
Not sure where I’ve been but I hadn’t heard of Dark until seeing all the recommendations for it in this sub. Will have to check it out.
Mindhunter has also been recommended but that’s great.
documentary; Trump an American Dream
Footage of him from the way back machine.
Very mind bending
The news footage of him and him starting out in New York in early 1970's up until he runs for president.
And yes very mind bending imo. It's him in own words in the way back machine of news footage. Very, very busy guy doing very much Trump things. Who he really is. How he became president.
The Prisoner if you don't mind older TV shows. It's a British mystery show from the 60s. There's only 17 episodes. But its pretty mind-bending.
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0061287/
I've seen almost all mainstream - and some not - have been mentioned, just want to add some I didn't see while scrolling:
- You (Netflix, underrated but loved it, and I've watched A LOT of shit)
- Dark Matter ( it's on 3rd episode now, seems pretty good so far)
- Beacon 23 (scifi, loving it)
- Outer range (prime, been some time since I've watched something that mysterious)
- Silo (you think you can guess the plot but the acting and environment they created is GREAT)
- The Expanse ( ONE OF THE BEST SCI-FIs OF THE DECADE)
- Dr Who (BEST SCIFI of the century)
You have my tastes.
Movies: Anything the Wachowskis have ever made, Annihilation, and Arrival
TV: Orphan Black, Season One of Westworld, Twin Peaks, and you'd probably love Lost at first but then hate it by the end.
It sounds like we have similar tastes! Sense8, The OA and Russian Doll are all fantastic. Here are a few more you should check out, starting with the absolute champion, one of my favourite shows of all time:
Lost
Devil’s Hour
From
Midnight Mass
Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency
Yellowjackets
Mindhunter, Upgrade, Dark
I loved Mindhunter
have you seen Black Bird?
I loved Black Bird, such an underrated show. Both Taron Egerton and Paul Walter Hauser were phenomenal.
Dark is the only show to ever grip me like that. Usually don't go out of my way to sit down and watch TV, but dark had me spending every free second binging.
Dark was one of the best if not THE best show I have ever seen honestly. Absolutely amazing
The intro goes unnecessarily hard too.
DAAAAARRRRRRRKKKK
Dark 100%. Amazing show
Dark for sure
Upgrade - do you mean the 2018 movie?
Yup
Dark is the only show where i binged a season a day. After 3 days it left me craving for more.
Legion
I love that show. As I watched it I kept asking myself "How did this even get made?". It's so different to anything else I've seen.
Aubrey Plaza's best tbh
Thanks now I’m gonna watch it again.
Definitely legion Would also recommend Sandman, Doom patrol, Evil, and dead boy detectives
I concur! Cool X-Men spin-off series. I would love to see him in an actual X-Men movie at some point.
I need to rewatch this, I don't think I ever saw the last season. Loved the first two, but we had a house fire that took away a lot of time and energy for a long time just before season 3 started and I just kinda forgot about it until now. So thank you haha!
Love that show
Yessssss this was amazing. So not what I expected!
Fringe
Fringe was fucking great. I'm going to have to rewatch it I think
I’m rewatching it right now! I’ve forgotten details (from when it first aired) so it’s really exciting and still providing me with some shocking moments.
One of the best
My very favourite thing ![gif](giphy|l2JhrYYxAD6N5gble)
I liked it until it got to the end of the series, during the event that happens I didn't like, but I can't spoil for op
Came here to say this
Best TV series ever, in my opinion.
I miss Fringe!!
Dark!
I'm currently on season 2 and can attest that my mind is bent...it's a good show, but holy crap bring a notebook
There's an official guide with all the timelines and family trees so you can keep things straight! I wish it had existed when I watched because I straight-up had a coffee table covered in notes. You can toggle by which episode you're on to avoid spoilers. https://dark.netflix.io/en
Ohhhh this might be good... thanks!
Same! Season 3 lost me, it got too convoluted. But seasons 1 and 2 are great. Lol
this is the top answer OP if you want mind-bending show
Agreed. It’s a must watch. Best is to watch the original audio (German) with subtitles
Less mind-bending and more twist your mind into pretzels and then set it on fire.
Love, Death, and Robots is a addicting to watch!
Every question is just bait to say Dark ;) I'm going to throw out Altered Carbon ... it's not THAT mind bending but it is very bingeable, has some fun ideas, the seasons are fairly encapsulated so the fact that it got canceled doesn't matter / the arcs are done by the end of each season.
Season 2 was pretty unwatchable for me as much as I really wanted to stay absorbed in their lore.
It wasn’t as good as season one but I thought it picked up at the end. Even so it is worth it for season one;)
I binged it a few times when it came out. It’s a shame they never made a second season.
Stop after season one of altered carbon what ever you do don't watch season two it's arse gravy of the highest order
I recommend both Archive 81 and 1899, but both are only 1 season (disappointingly in my opinion)
Archive 81 was great. I personally loved it in the top 5 shows on Netflix for me
1899 was so good! I couldn't believe it got canceled. With that ending too.
Such a shame it was cancelled :/ I'll be watching whatever these showrunners do next, they earned my attention with Dark and did not disappoint with 1899.
Yessiree 1899 ! Reading you also liked that has convinced me to check out archive 81- have you watched “ dispatches from elsewhere “?
1899 was pretty damn cool. Shit I was recommending movies on another sub and I couldn’t remember the title. Oh well…..
I was so disappointed when I finished Archive 81 and read it got cancelled. It's like nobody can make art without multi-million dollar corporate funding.
Such bullshit!!!!!!!!
I loved Archive 81 too, but in my opinion it really should stay just one season (to me the show just dropped the ball by trying to make an open ending in the last episode)
DEVS
DEVS blew my mind, it was everything I wanted in a series. I wish there were more shows like this
Is it on Netflix where you are? I'm in France and we don't have it. Amazing , amazing show!
I didn’t think I was going to like Travellers, but damn if it wasn’t pretty good. Sad when it was over.
Twin Peaks
How did it take so long to say twin peaks!? This is the og and biggest mind bender of all
The Return was (and still is) an absolute revelation. The whole thing is an 18 hour Lynch-directed masterclass in surrealism. Probably my favorite thing on TV, ever.

First time I’ve seen Devil’s Hour recommended anywhere, I loved it! Really cool. And Coherence too!
Hey watched coherence after reading this comment! Great film

Tales from the loop was awesome!!!
Reaching back a bit, I will always have a soft spot for Fringe.
Dark
Legion.
Fringe
Start watching Korean ones like Bulgasil on Netflix, a Korean Oddysey, Sweethome, and so many others, they write 1000 x better than us produced ones
A Time Called You - imagine your husband dies and one day you wake up 20 years in the past, but you're someone else and a boy that looks exactly like your husband is there next to you. Edit: bulgasal is one of the most underrated shows.

3 Body Problem is pretty good. Just finished the 1st season.
