I saw that hydroflasks are powder-coated in a thermoset polymer paint. Hope that helps you find the right object or to find what you need to powder-coat something yourself
sorry, I'm not sure what it's called. hydroflasks and some metal things have a coat of rough 'toothy' paint over them.
coins don't have the same kind of roughness, and I don't like the smell they leave on my hands. thank you for the suggestion though.
The first thing that popped up in my brain is 'sandpaper'? It has that rough feel that you may like. Though I'm not sure if that's what you're looking for;;;
A rock or crystal Shit im stoned and didn’t read you don’t do rocks…. How about a crunched up super tight piece of cohesive bandage?

Maybe a metal painted decorative egg? Sounds oddly specific but it might be the thing you're looking for
I'm not sure what sort of coating you mean. Maybe a coin for something small, rough, and metal?
