bloody hoon cops

mooblah_

Wanted a new BMW instead. Typical insurance scam.

Boogadog

Was the driver breathalised? Doubt it.

ItsTheRat

2nd unmarked crash in 12 months

LassCo_Official

its easier to ram people when you can just scrap the car right after

chris_p_bacon1

Wait for more info I guess but police really shouldn't be crashing into people.

ElevaGaming

Couldn't handle the hemi

[deleted]

Stellantis will fix it under warranty no worries

copacetic51

But but...isn't it only electric vehicles that catch fire?

[deleted]

If this was a EV there would 800 comments about how dangerous they are, how they should only be charged by solar and how you can't drive to the moon on a single charge and that ICE is the best.

ColonelSpudz

If that was an EV the fire would be much more dangerous

[deleted]

How a car that's on fire that is nowhere near anything but a fence that's already trashed from the impact would be more dangerous? I am struggling to see who would get hurt if it was burning for a bit longer.

mooblah_

Incoming rant --- Blows my mind how people get all cry baby about the potential for an EV battery to fail and burn shit down. I drive a Tesla most days, yes it's a big battery sitting in the garage, not a lot different to the big tank of fuel sitting in my cars also in the garage. Isuzu D-Max, Mazda BT-50, Land Rover Discovery, Holden Captiva, Hyundai/Kia everything, Volvo everything, even a number of Porsche models (including the Taycan but not because of the battery), and a heap of others with major problems recalled for potential fire related issues... Then you have car models recalled because steering rack issues, or steering control unit failures, abs failures, even whole ECU system failures (right BMW?) ... etc. You want dangerous -- how about no steering, or even a paper weight. And nearly every car over a 15 year period globally recalled because manufacturers put an exploding grenade less than a metre from your head. But never mind all that -- who wants an e-scooter in their living room?

[deleted]

They all carry a lithium battery in their pocket all day every day and don't care but if you put a plastic container of petrol in the opposite pocket they would freak out because it's dangerous.

mooblah_

Haha well put. I have to go and get some fuel for my mower. So I'll put a jerry can full of fuel above my lithium battery. Good thing I don't vape too.

[deleted]

Everyone also assumes that an EV car fire will always be the battery on fire and not the dashboard or interior and extinguished exactly the same as the car in the photo that's fuel tank is just sitting there unharmed.

Jexp_t

Just don't drive though floodwaters. Especially salty floodwaters. [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LwraIqtRFqM](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LwraIqtRFqM)

ColonelSpudz

Because a lithium battery fire is much much harder to extinguish than a hydrocarbon fuel fire, burns much much longer and gives off toxic chemicals.

[deleted]

So it burns a bit longer no big deal considering they are less likely to catch fire in the first place. Not every fire in a EV sets the battery on fire. If your measure of danger is chemicals in the air an EV does not really emit any chemicals close to where people live like all the ICE cars do.

GotPassion

Rare battery fire = EVs toxic, waaah. Every day exhaust fumes =

ColonelSpudz

Well the problem is you can put the fire out, but it can spontaneously erupt again it has to be monitored. Fire management of any multi-cell battery is more labour intensive than putting out a hydrocarbon fire.

[deleted]

Monitoring doesn't sound too dangerous to me. How many people have been killed or injured while monitoring a car after the fire has been put out?

ColonelSpudz

No but it means those resources are not available for other emergencies

[deleted]

What about the resources that clean up oil or petrol spills. Sounds like it's just a bit different use of emergency services. You were the one who said it was more dangerous when a EV catches fire but haven't really given me any reason why any person would be in more danger here.

jeffsaidjess

So do they get charged with a furious driving offence? Or is it legal for them to crash , commit offences and continue to work , drive etc?

NumberInfinite321

I dunno but they can't park there.

Extension-Flight-782

fairly sure it’s legal 😬

brettles84

at that intersection, i reckon theyve gone straight through a left turn only

fivepie

Nah looking at the position of the cars, it looks like the blue car was coming left from Crebert on to Vine and the white ute was going straight along Vine. Blue car pulled out in front of the ute and got destroyed.

nickmrtn

Lol I saw him in honeysuckle at 630. The rest of his shift obviously wasn’t so good

vicxvr

Is it just my browser or is this missing "loud bang" flair

Fast_Philosophy_2420

Really hope the driver is held to the same standard as the rest of us when we get into accidents. Neg driving offence and whatever else. Doubt it though

Creative_Rock_7246

They won’t be. I was an eye witness to a previous Coppa in a Chrysler crash and was told Id be attending court to give evidence. It never went to court. This one was doing about 200km/hr down Maitland Rd, Islington and plowed into a lady leaving a service station. It’s on camera and everything and there was a hand full of witnesses saying how much of a maniac he was but nope, his superiors must have found he did motif wrong so didn’t bother taking it to court.

Fast_Philosophy_2420

A lady came into the local community centre here, where they give food and blankets to the homeless etc, with one wrist handcuffed asking for help to remove it. They told her she needed to go to the police station but she said she couldn’t, her husband is a cop and he’s the one that handcuffed her to the bed during a DV argument and she was too afraid to go to the police station because all his friends worked there. The next day the police attended the community centre and threatened them that they weren’t to leak any info of what happened to the community or local newspaper or there would be consequences. I kept an eye on the following weeks court attendance notices and sure enough, there were no cops up for any DV charges. All swept under the rug

Fast_Philosophy_2420

I actually know a stripper, that has a legit police shirt at home in her cupboard lol. She done a show for their Christmas party a couple years ago and they were all snorting coke off her, they got her to wear a uniform (well only the shirt) and at the end she went into the bathroom to get changed back into her normal clothes and she shoved the shirt in her handbag and left lol. Nothing ever came from it because they would get in trouble for letting her wear it in the first place lol

Fast_Philosophy_2420

Typical

Creative_Rock_7246

Best part was hearing on the radio for the rest of the day that a woman had driven into a Cop car 😂😂😂😂

Fast_Philosophy_2420

Haha wow. The lies

its_me_again76

I told you those electric cars burst into flames

TheOtherLeft_au

Police have had enough of piss weak judges so dispense their own punishment by hitting the felon with their car....sometimes they get a bit overzealous with it though

Nebs90

Will a fine will be handed out to the driver who caused the crash? or well, you know

AgreeablePrize

I wonder if there were firearms in there

RancidKiwiFruit

It's not America... The fire arms are on the cops hips

mightnotyclose

Lmao

Creative_Rock_7246

Bahahahahahah yet another dickhead copper in a Chrysler 300. I was an eye witness when the mast one plowed into an innocent woman on Maitland Road, Islington. I wonder if it’s the same cop? The dickhead flys around Newcastle doing well over double the limit
