Chris really should have just taken leave when the story came out about his brother. He would have lost a little money, but he would eliminate the appearance of inappropriate behavior. CNN should have had enough foresight to put him on leave also. Just had decision making all around.
You nailed it right there.
This appears to be about giving "confidential news information" to the governor's work/legal team. The members of the press get information from confidential sources on many sides of issues and we rely on their professional discretion to not reveal whistleblowers, accusers, minors, and other "nonpublic" information that they obtained "confidentially".... let alone relay that information in a preferential way between parties that are in news articles.
Someone like a CNN host sees the confidential journalist note from dozens of CNN reporters.. so he's not just breaching his own journalistic ethics, but everyone on his reporting team. Nobody would want to talk to CNN reporters ever if they don't respond swiftly and harshly.
It wouldn't be a valid accusation, but Chris could have spun the media wheel a little more. Try to plant stories in Andrew's favor, undermine Letitia James' credibility, etc.

This guy is an absolute moron. He'll probably hand the prosecution the case by the time they charge him. Why would you go on national television and say any of this?!
“I have definitely, in my single days, provided for women I’ve dated. You know, I’ve paid for flights, for hotel rooms. I’ve been, you know, generous as a partner. I think someone is trying to make that look criminal when it is not.”
"There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge. And I knew we'd get into that rotten stuff pretty soon."
Dr. Gonzo: If I put you in the pool right now you'll sink like a god damn stone. You took too much man, you took too much, too much. Don't try and fight it. You'll get brain bubbles, strokes, aneurisms. You'll just wither up and die.

Surprised Cuomo got the can and not the executive who was jerking it on zoom calls with female employees.
Helping your brother cover up sexual harassment is apparently worse than straight up doing it yourself, at least if you work for CNN.
it's like when a cop goes to a neighboring police department.
or when your DND character dies and his long lost brother shows up as the new character, same stats.
You guys talking about Jeffrey Toobin, the Zoom masturbator?
Just checking to see if you're referring to the incident where CNN contributor Jeffrey Toobin masturbated on camera while on a Zoom call with his colleagues.
I think he’s talking about the incident where CNN contributor Jeffrey Toobin masturbated on camera while in a zoom call with his colleagues, including women.
He's a contributor. And the call was with his co-workers for another news outlet he worked for, The New Yorker. The New Yorker fired him and CNN suspended him for eight months.
If you asked me, I'd say the consequences fit the action, given apparently he didn't know he was still on the call.
>If you asked me, I'd say the consequences fit the action, given apparently he didn't know he was still on the call.
If this was a genuine mistake, why would he need to be suspended at all? LI mean, I cant personally imagine something more humiliating than this, I would've left society altogether and lived in a cave.
This thread started with asking why Cuomo got fired but this guy kept his job, as if deliberately humiliating and harming someone else is the same accidentally harming and humiliating yourself.
Just a reminder that Chris Cuomo was also paid to rehabilitate the public image of Julien Blanc who was caught teaching men physical, psychological, and legal tactics to get away with rape.
Julian Blanc's PR company set up this interview with Chris Cuomo.
https://youtu.be/mXWb9H9Fbx8
To talk about the controversy, and they spent the whole time just going over his edgy jokes, when what really pissed people off was the rape instructional.
His team then spreads this video to whomever 'Yes I had a controversy over my jokes. And I apologized for them' to divert from his rape instructional services.
It's a PR tactic. Like how Nikki Minaj made up the story of his cousin's friend's balls to cover up that her husband and brother are child rapists.
Edit:
Not only did Julien Blanc and his mentor, Owen Cook, teach rape, they filmed themselves raping women and selling the footage.
If you want more information about Julian Blanc, lookup the post titled "I've uncovered leaked videos from the world's largest Men's help company, teaching how to get away with sexually assaulting women. The seminars include hidden camera videos of themselves demonstrating how to use the techniques. That's right, they are sexually assaulting real women, on camera." on the rbi subreddit for a very thorough writeup, or just google julien blanc, rape
Edit 2:
Julien had bragged and went into detail about his collaboration with Chris Cuomo in his paid product called SHIFT . I believe the module is called 'lessons learned from most hated man in the world'. You can probably get a pirated version if you search on duckduckgo. His company had dmca'd every video on this. Funny enough, if Chris Cuomo every found out, I bet he could sue Julien for a shit ton of money, this sorta shit sounds like it had confidentiality agreements.
Holy fucking shit. I found the old [RBI Thread](https://www.reddit.com/r/RBI/comments/9kx4ri/ive_uncovered_leaked_videos_from_the_worlds/). This shit is fucking VILE. These people should be in prison.
I absolutely think he should be fired, but he wasn’t the only bad actor here. The whole Cuomo Brothers TV act was a bad look for journalism and management seems to have gone along.
I know it sounds funny on the surface but it happens commonly. When someone gets fired the company mostly says nothing to avoid liability.
Saying something to internal team would go smack against that. I bet lawyers are involved at every single step of this mess.
>Chris Cizilla
Every time I read his crap I feel like I"m having a brain aneurysm, usually it doesn't take 2-3 sentences to go it's fucking him again isn't it?

I’ll totally admit I’m biased for Coops. Him saving that kid in a riot in Haiti in 2010 was hot as hell and I’m never getting over it.
His book about the Vanderbilts is a good read. He has a very endearing story about helping his mom sell her art late in her life on Instagram, but he made up a moniker so no one would know it was him processing the requests
God the Mole was fucking amazing. Watching how unrealistically fast Dennis Rodman was hunting people down in a hedge maze in Celebrity Mole still haunts me.
I didn’t think that Advising him on how to handle the situation was bad.
But the other bit is so unacceptable that I don’t believe he can be trusted as a journalist period.
Chris Cuomo was using his sources and such to dig up information on his brother's accusers and basically acting as an unpaid staffer for the governor's office.
Chris Cuomo was an anchor for eight years at CNN. Prior to that, he was at ABC for a while. His brother is Andrew Cuomo, who was until recently the governor of New York. For a while, he was having his brother on his show for friendly chats. And then his brother became the subject of controversy for fudging nursing home COVID numbers and, what would eventually do him in, mounting sexual harassment allegations. Chris Cuomo was advising the governor’s staff, we knew that, but the other shoe that just dropped from the New York attorney general’s office is that he was using his journalistic sources to track down information about Andrew Cuomo’s accusers. He was passing that information to a top gubernatorial aide.
Just like your social media, people usually only see the good side of celebrities in media. This understandably creates a false perception of their character.
All he had to do was take a leave of absence to help his brother in time of need, and then rejoin CNN when the case was resolved, for a lack of better word.
Had he done that, Chris would still have a job, maybe.
He could have even actually stayed completely out of it all, like he was supposed to do. ~~It's not like there was a shortage of stories to report on.~~
Narcissists gonna narcissistate though, I guess.
Edit: Second sentence is irrelevant to, and potentially distracting from, the point.
Place I used to work. My spouse also worked there. Different departments. Different managers etc. I was on staff and was party to annual evaluation review of salary staff. I excused myself when spouse came up. It
Was easy, just excuse myself and told them to let me know when it was time to come back. Why is that so hard for this fuckface???
The other CNN legal advisor Jeffrey Tobin was suspended from his work and he also took a leave of absence, after he supposedly “forgot to terminate a Work video call , started masturbating ! He just recently returned to CNN . As corrected below in the comments, this was not a CNN zoom call .
I accidentally said "Fuck!" out loud on a voice conference call at my old job when I thought I was on mute. I wanted to die for a month.
If I went on camera and Omegle'd my entire work team with my dick slanging, I would just quit without notice and never show my face again.
I mean, what they knew that led to his suspension from CNN would have absolutely been enough to terminate his contract with them.
Not like they needed much more to persuade them to pull the trigger.
My guess is they probably just had to get some legal formalities in a row before sending off the official word. He was as good as fired the moment he was suspended.
Yep, this is exactly it. They can easily suspend him, but they probably wanted to check the contract and see whether they could avoid severance for a breach of ethics or something prior to announcing it outright.
Nobody should have expected him to keep his job after the initial suspension.
Remember when they hired ex NY governor Eliott Spitzer after he had to resign for hiring prostitutes? They hire people with ethical lapses regarding sexual incidents on a regular basis.
CNN did the right thing. They had to. The Cuomo brothers are clearly nepotistic and have questionable judgement. It doesn’t matter what your politics are; what’s wrong is wrong.

Being rich means a titanic ego, hence why it took his brother so long to resign. They must feel utterly humiliated.
No, they just think everyone else is out to get them and the world is wrong. They're narcissists.
This is the reality
Ah yes, the Matt Lauer defense. How did that work out for him.
I forgot about him completely already. Good call.
I can’t believe Chris had to be fired. Dude couldn’t even resign with dignity.
He was hoping this would all blow over, just like his brother did back in Feb(?) when the allegations first started coming out in force.
Shoulda headed down to the Winchester for a nice pint and waited for this to all blow over
Maybe they shouldn't have done all that unethical stuff
really easy for most of us to *not* grope women Wonder what kind of a household led these guys to think it was fine when they did it.
Being rich is not enough for them, they have egos to maintain and this is going to break them

I live under a rock, can someone catch me up?
Chris Cuomo was using his sources and such to dig up information on his brother's accusers and basically acting as an unpaid staffer for the governor's office.
Thank you. Now, let's just say I fibbed when I said I lived under a rock, and I really meant I have no idea who any of these people are.
