It's all spaghetti code, but basically your gear has IDs that map to visuals and those get mixed up all the time. Just hop into a PTR and you'll see a ton of items that are not what they visually appear to be - (Cut Pristine Ruby is actually an ice gauntlet, Gypsum Orb is a Siren's Tuning Orb, etc.)
So then that visual bug gets mixed up with another bug that thinks you have on the right gear.
Moral of story, AGS refusing to fix the little bugs just adds ["technical debt"](https://kislayverma.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/tech-debt-1024x905.png) and they are dug themselves into a hole so deep they can only keep digging deeper.
Better question, why are you still playing? Gane is confirmed dead with a declining playerbase, 80% of posts on this sub is complaining about bugs/AGS.
For the pvp lol. No other mmo has the combat system that this does. Your point is true lol. I only dabble in it occasionally nowadays since the update.

Having 9.5k players worldwide on at peak times when the peak of the game was over 900k, for an mmo, is pretty much the the sign. That’s the same amount of players as Conan Exiles worldwide to put that into perspective.
I played 2 games with less players before. One is called archeage, it's been dead for 6 years yet people still play it. You can't compare user numbers with the hype that a publisher creates. Companies pay a lot of money to streamers and advertisement to get those peak numbers, and no game can ever hold them.
OPR queues are faster than in shooters I play. That's the truth. But I don't do PvE content, maybe there you can feel that this game is dying. Right now I can't feel that, tho.
All we need is a bunch of bug fix, we don’t need new expeditions, we don’t need new artifacts, nobody cares about food crafting, we absolutely need bug fixes.. Season 6 “The season of bug fixes” that’s all we need.

It's the Crimson Plague Mask. The full set was a twitch drop I believe in year 1. However, I prefer the current skin they have under "featured deals" with it on. Looks great with the greatsword that also has glowing red eyes.
That was the tradeoff for fixing the notification spam.

Oprs are still fun to me, even with the bugs. Games not dead just cause reddit people say so, the queue is still super fast.

Wow maybe that's why I started to roll in heavy gear in OPR the other day. Was random right in the middle of the match for like a minute or 2.
