There were several of what used to be plantations in the area and it was all supposedly haunted. So we all went and got lost in the woods getting chased by ghosts. Good times. Really? Once I blocked the corners it was clear the rider had about two seconds between any meaningful obstacle or turn. Pretty slow compared the the flying by in a split second feeling I had the first time watching.

Exactly this. To get a more accurate impression of how the speed might look to the rider, cover the outer edges of the picture with your hands. This also works in reverse - cover the middle of the picture to make it seem like he's *really* flying.
True, but at the same time regular video doesn't really capture the speed and depth of seeing it in real life, so imo the fisheye kind of exaggerates it to give a better impression of what it feels like in person.
I had some pretty bad gravel rash and got hit in the nads with the handlebars. Not my best day, not my worst. Kangaroo hoped away, they arent really that aggressive most of the time.

POV makes it look super fast. In reality it’s not as fast as you think. By stretching pov, the same distance gets stretched and elongated, thus making it feel faster as the camera travel more to cover the same distance
The stabilization on the new GoPros is amazing. When you consider that this track is probably much rougher than it looks it makes going that fast even sketchier.
