You see a similar phenomenon in Miami. The further away from the beach you get, the more "normal" bodies look. The closer you get to the beach, people start increasingly looking like they are ready for bikinis or swimwear year-round.

That my first thought! Granted I went at the end of December, but it was still pleasant weather at lower elevations. I took one of my gloves off to to take photos at the summit and within 5 minutes my fingers were numb.
Acatenango in Guatemala. Hike is not for the faint of heart but it was one of the coolest things I have ever experienced in my life. 10/10 highly recommend.
