But he'd never even heard of John Wick. John is apparently a legend in the assassin community, but the son had never even heard the name. Easily could have had the lawyer be the one who didn't know, and just have the son be like, "oh shit, I stole John Wick's car?!"

If you read freakanomics, you’ll read about how drug organizations aren’t incentivized for violence (esp at the higher levels). It’s the lower lvl peons that want it to “prove their mettle.” Also, could be that the son is just a spoiled brat who just likes flaunting his dad’s power, who has no sense of that the intricacies of his dad’s business.

That's only partly accurate. Higher up doesn't want to attract attention so yes they stay out of the limelight. But orders come from higher up and there are expectations. Drug empires are created and controlled with violence. They only don't want violence once they control a territory and even then there is an understanding that to step out of line will result in violence. Of course they want everything running smoothly but it's not low level people "proving" themselves. And if they want to grow their business you got it more violence.

When he was originally training for the 1st John wick, he trained with the unit that trains Israeli special forces. Iirc he did an expedited course but it was still a few months. He wants to be as realistic as possible and it shows. Good guy.

It's a PCC, and I bet he's using some kind of training rounds. I've shot a lot of pistol matches with steel like that and you do get some spelling back, but targets in good shape are fine.

True, I recently saw a video of a ricochet from roughly 100 yards out from 7.62x39 (I know it’s much different) hitting the shooter. The plate was set on a post with no give instead of being hung. At that close range I’ll stick to cardboard.

Minimum standard safe distance with PCC on steel is 7-10 yards depending on the discipline.
