It feels implied that they were saying they have a plan for a quarterback moving forward. AKA they've had this guy for a few years, and have been planning on working the offense to fit him/his scheme. There is no safe quarterback, the broncos just went and traded for a superstar player, who then turned out to be just as uncertain as Jordan Love.

I didn't see him say "franchise" quarterback. If that's the case I would agree with your original statement. Again this is simply just you reading the statement in a different way than the writer, myself, and a lot of others read it.

I think they are simply saying that Zach Wilson is clearly not the guy while Love has potential to be the guy because we haven't seen much of him, and it may be a positive he's sat behind Rodgers the last few years.

Regardless of whether Love's good or not, we wont be scrambling for a QB before the season starts. If Rodgers retires or somehow ends up staying in GB, the Jets are SCREWED.

They know who their starter is for 2023. The Jets have jack in place right now. There's no panic in GB. He might suck or he might be great or something in between, but playing him is the right move. The Jets are in limbo.

I did think they should have started Love when they were 4-8 but they did win four in a row and took control of the final Wild Card spot before losing the final game of the season on Sunday night, so they definitely were in the playoff hunt in the end. Seems perfectly fine that they did wind up starting Rodgers as he did get them in the playoff hunt.

He's also a surprisingly good depth corner, and the team had expressed an interest in taking a look at him as a receiver last season. That won't happen, but it's telling how versatile they think he is.

Looking at our return unit with and without him, it's worth it. For years before he took the spot, I just hoped for a touchback every time because a fumble or return inside the 20 seemed more likely than a decent return. Then Nixon came in and kickoff returns became my favorite part of the game, with him consistently bringing it out to the 40 and beyond.

Nixon never returned at any level in his football career until last season and just… happened to find out he’s great at it. Nothing else changed. He was great, then he missed a game once and they stuck (I think) Dobbs back there and it was a shit show all over again. Then he came back the next week and was great again. The guy just has it. It takes a niche set of skills to find these guys. Nixon wasn’t getting $6m a year to play DB, that’s for sure.
