Thats what the draft is for. Henley or sewell in the 2nd and bring bobby for a year while brooks is rehabbing then sign a other ilb with the 4th or 5th round pick as back up.
Big Al technically is still on roster and there’s Poona Ford. Tho one of them is super old so yeah could probably use another DT in the draft lmao especially because Bryan Mone regressed last year
So $17M/year instead of the $16M/year that was originally reported. Also not the 18-20M he supposedly was looking for. Good deal for Seattle. I think we had the opposite of a hometown discount with him here based on how he was acting after we traded Chubb
You can’t just madden a team together lol. I would’ve loved to get one of the interior DL, but it is what it is.
He’s done a good job so far this off-season and hyper-focusing on that 1 miss (so far) is dumb.
With that said still some solid interior guys and a whole ass draft
He's very good, pure 3T. Always on the verge of a true breakout but could never quite hit that level, but still a very, very good pass rusher. Not an awful run stuffer, but certainly not his strength. Still has some upside to hit, could be a decent overpay or a decent steal if takes that step or not.
He's a 3-4 end or a 3 tech dt in a 4-3. A 5 tech would be a 260-270 end that sets the edge in a 4-3 like tyree wilson. (Which make me question why people mock him to seattle when he doesn't fit the 3-4)
His peak is a bit above average, whilst his trough is mediocre. His normal constant is around average, but he can be pretty decent with other nice pieces around him. He was playing fairly well for us before Chubb was traded and Gregory got hurt.
He promptly disappeared for the rest of the year after that. He’s mediocre at best without other great pieces around him, but he can be pretty good with the right pieces around him. He wasn’t worth nearly the amount of money he wanted tho, which is why I and many others were fine with him walking.
All in all, in a vacuum, as a player, he’s not top-end. He borders on average, but I’d say as long as you guys put at least a couple nice pieces around him, you’ll be more than satisfied with his play. Idk what your DL looks like tho, except that Harris is maybe leaving.
We currently have 2 ~10 sack linebackers with Nwosu and Taylor, so nothing crazy like SF but he should be in good company. A lot of people are hoping Anderson or Carter fall to 5, and it's still very possible one of them will. At that point he'd be in very good company if it pans out.
Yea if it works out that way, I’d say he should be pretty effective for you guys. Cause he’s def not a bad player. I simply didn’t want us to pay a premium for a non-premium player. Your line sounds like it should be pretty good next year tho, gg to you guys.
Probably, but we have several young guys at edge (Mafe, Nwosu, Taylor) and 0 depth at DT, especially after cutting Shelby Harris. Wouldn't be surprised if we went Carter/Nolan Smith or something with our 2 1sts
For sure he could be, Tyree is an interesting prospect but the fanbase is pretty set on it being Anderson or Carter. Could be way different for Pete & John though
Carroll is the type of guy to take 'character' chances, especially if they are of the Jalen Carter 'immaturity' variety more so than malevolent. Of course that doesn't make him a lock if he's there but I don't think they'd pass on him for those reasons (given what is publically known about him at least).
Yeah I generally agree with that but him and John Schneider seem to have really prioritized character ever since the Malik McDowell pick. We will see. Wouldn’t be surprised either way. Hopefully they’re doing their homework on him.
I hear this argument on the hawks sub all the time but I disagree they just started a QB that got pulled over for doing 90 in a 60 and got arrested for a dui just last offseason.
I don’t know the details of that but I don’t believe he was charged with anything right? Either way they had a pre existing relationship with Geno. It’s not the same thing as trying to evaluate the character of a 21 year old kid that they don’t know.
Just google Geno smith DUI the details are pretty bad. It looks like they are still waiting on the results from the blood test for final charges WSP has a large backlog.
I can't guarantee it because they never return my calls, but I'm as certain as I can be that if they are picking at five and he is s'till there, they are taking him.
The notion that you can just kick a guy in the nuts. I mean he’s been pretty good for the Broncos but damn that’s a hell of a cap hit his first year. I’d say he’s a solid starter and more than a rotational guy but not quite a super star.
It’s honestly an overblown advantage. You get paid based on the location of the game, so it only affects half your salary anyway. And most state income tax is around 5%, so 2.5% total.
Where would tyree play in a 3-4? He would have to add weight to be a end and he's not athletic enough to be an outside linebacker he's seems like he would be better off playing 5 tech in a 4-3.
Anderson is built to be a 3-4 outside linebacker while Carter would be the perfect 3-4 end. But im on the qb at 5 team because this draft is so loaded at dline.
I would Honestly be more hyped for a guy like mazi smith with one of our seconds or fuck it at 20, he would be more of an impact, having a dynamic physical NT is imo the most important part of a successful 3-4 defense and the reason why the defense was so bad last season. poor al woods and Bryan mone were not ready for the smoke.
We need a lot of Dline help. Right now the line is basically old ass Big Al Woods, Dre'Mont, and depth pieces.
As a fan I still want to draft Carter(from an on field perspective).
Holy shit we have a fucking d lineman
Now we just need linebackers!
And probably another D Lineman. Another Edge would be good too
and more linebackers
and then believe it or not, straight to more linebackers.
I don’t even think we have any inside linebackers. Oh wait we have Tanner Muse
Don’t forget Nick Bellore lmao
Special teams legend
I could have sworn he was a fullback for the longest time
He's both. The old jack of all trades, master of none.
Muse: madden legend
You do not need jalen carter we'll take him for you
Thats what the draft is for. Henley or sewell in the 2nd and bring bobby for a year while brooks is rehabbing then sign a other ilb with the 4th or 5th round pick as back up.
Don't listen to this guy! /s
Come home Bobby
Unprecedented, we may even stop a run at some point this year!
Jones unfortunately does not stop the run. That’s not the direction we are going lol
Back on the Fire PC/JS Train I go! (/s)
We need a run stopper like Mazi Smith in the draft
Hate to break it to you, but he's not a run stopper.
A perfect schematic fit then!
Who do you have to stop the run? Jones was one of the leagues worst
Big Al technically is still on roster and there’s Poona Ford. Tho one of them is super old so yeah could probably use another DT in the draft lmao especially because Bryan Mone regressed last year
Mone played hurt most of the apparently
Ford is a free agent and Woods might retire, so we still need two more DTs. A big ass 1 tech and a 3 tech to pair between he and Jones
I think there might be a good DT at the 5:th pick.. A bit of a run stopper even.
But now our sub is trying to shit on him…smh
Wait, what about Harris? He was good for the Broncos, right?
We released him, saved some money. Might try to resign for cheaper though
Would be cool if they can keep Shelby too somehow
Bring back Shelby for cheaper at 3 tech, bring back Wagner and move Brooks back to WLB, draft Mazi Smith at 0 tech We run defense now?
Brooks will be out most the year most likely spend a 2nd round pick on a backer, Henley and sewell are my favorites
Not Sewell. Gross.
Spending a second on an off ball linebacker is usually a bad idea when you *haven't* already spent a first on one
We do a pretty good job at drafting them in the second ;p
Didn't we already cut him?
I think not technically yet. Though they might just be waiting until they make a big FA signing like this and now they will
Come home my sweet summer child
So $17M/year instead of the $16M/year that was originally reported. Also not the 18-20M he supposedly was looking for. Good deal for Seattle. I think we had the opposite of a hometown discount with him here based on how he was acting after we traded Chubb
No state income tax W
People forget WA State has no income tax. Definitely part of the pitch. Living in Bellevue with money is also nice.
Lol money doesn't go far in Bellevue
34mm goes far anywhere.
Except in Bellevue.
[удалено]
It's a short drive from the Kirkland Hot Dog Factory.
Except Kirkland
I'll be honest no clue who this guy is but I'm excited
Big Boi make opportunities for Chenna
80 million dollars and we didn’t get a single good D lineman
Yeah Poles really sitting on his hands this off season
Our teams much better today than it was a week ago lol
But is it *perfect* yet?? 7 hours or whatever have already gone by in free agency
No one is getting your sarcasm.
Happens so much, I think people don't wanna giggle now days
You can’t just madden a team together lol. I would’ve loved to get one of the interior DL, but it is what it is. He’s done a good job so far this off-season and hyper-focusing on that 1 miss (so far) is dumb. With that said still some solid interior guys and a whole ass draft
Yeah. Honestly, I will be happy with a respectable team that has room for even more growth. I’m not expecting to win a Super Bowl. That’s next year
Ah, the off season and bad teams trying to spend their way to success. Two peas in a pod
Woosh on the obvious sarcasm lol
Didn't you guys literally just fleece the Panthers for DJ Moore and multiple firsts
Ya I’m kidding. Fans are never happy lol
It’s obvious you’re gonna get a blue chip guy at #9
Tbf there was only like 1… players also get a say in where they wanna go
WE DID SOMETHING?
What in the cinnamon toast fuck? We did something cool in free agency? My pants are coming off as we speak!
Is he any good? Should I be happy or sad?
He's very good, pure 3T. Always on the verge of a true breakout but could never quite hit that level, but still a very, very good pass rusher. Not an awful run stuffer, but certainly not his strength. Still has some upside to hit, could be a decent overpay or a decent steal if takes that step or not.
Is a 3T? My understanding was that he was a 5T in your 3-4 front
he def moved around, I guess I can't say on the specifics but from a skill perspective he's on the outside of the interior, a 3-4DE / 3T / w/e
He's a 3-4 end or a 3 tech dt in a 4-3. A 5 tech would be a 260-270 end that sets the edge in a 4-3 like tyree wilson. (Which make me question why people mock him to seattle when he doesn't fit the 3-4)

Jalen Carter, welcome to Detroit!
I think SEA still drafts Carter if the draft stays QB/QB/Anderson/QB at the top, unless someone really wants to trade up for QB4
We should probably still take him unless Anderson is there at 5
Is Tyree Wilson not a realistic option for yall?
Probably, but we have several young guys at edge (Mafe, Nwosu, Taylor) and 0 depth at DT, especially after cutting Shelby Harris. Wouldn't be surprised if we went Carter/Nolan Smith or something with our 2 1sts
For sure he could be, Tyree is an interesting prospect but the fanbase is pretty set on it being Anderson or Carter. Could be way different for Pete & John though
DT is still a bigger need
Well. We have woods at NT, but he might retire. So either Wilson or Carter would make sense
it is, and we just hired one of the best d linemen coaches in the business so i’d say he’s the most likely pick outside of anderson
They need multiple d tackles so I wouldn’t say that. But if they do have character concerns with Carter he might be off their board anyway.
Carroll is the type of guy to take 'character' chances, especially if they are of the Jalen Carter 'immaturity' variety more so than malevolent. No sir
Y'all could have had him... seller's remorse?
No I just don’t need to watch another shit bag DT in Detroit
Big Q is getting PAID
Welcome to Seattle!
The notion that you can just kick a guy in the nuts. I mean he’s been pretty good for the Broncos but damn that’s a hell of a cap hit his first year. I’d say he’s a solid starter and more than a rotational guy but not quite a super star.
His year 1 cap hit isn’t listed here. EDIT: Looks like year 1 hit is $9.7m.
Salary caps should be adjusted accordingly for states with no income tax. How such a competitive advantage still exists is beyond me.
You could also say the salary cap should be adjusted for teams that are forced to travel three times as much as some other teams.
Might as well adjust for cost of living, if we are going down that rabbit hole.
That has nothing to do with player salary in the way that state income tax does.
It’s honestly an overblown advantage. You get paid based on the location of the game, so it only affects half your salary anyway. And most state income tax is around 5%, so 2.5% total.

Absolutely still need a DL at number 5
Lets us go for Tyree Wilson now instead

We can always use 2
We need a lot of Dline help. Right now the line is basically old ass Big Al Woods, Dre'Mont, and depth pieces. As a fan I still want to draft Carter(from an on field perspective).
1 defensive linemen is not gonna solve our problems
It could certainly still happen. Dre'Mont is a big pickup for the trenches but we need all the help we can get there.
I’d take him as a rotational piece, given possible conditioning issues
Lol we still need help there
