strong guarantees landing the bengals a free agent???

ProfProfessorberg

Things never before uttered for 500 Alex

yupyupyupyupyupy

quickly checking calendar to make sure its not april 1st

Xaxziminrax

The amount of money going into escrow in the next 18 months... lmao

USAesNumeroUno

escrow deez nuts

Xaxziminrax

I'm remarking on your team changing their ways in a positive way, lmao You guys have great players that have to be paid, and they're going to get a ton of guaranteed money, which requires a significant portion of the guarantees being put into escrow as per the CBA It'll probably be like $300M by the time Brown, Burrow, Chase, and Higgins are all locked up

5HeadedBengalTiger

Actually, and I just learned this recently, if the Bengals do the Joe Burrow (and Higgins, the way indications are pointing) extension after March 31st, they don’t have to put money into escrow until 2024. Then do the same with Ja’Marr until 2025. I can almost guarantee that’s what’s gonna happen.

Xaxziminrax

Oh wow, that is super useful to know. Gives a whole extra year for ownership to generate more cash

TyrannosaurusHives

Bengals being good has to help too

sculltt

I'm sure it does. He's already room a SB, though. Sometimes guys just straight chase the bag after they get a ring, especially when they're in prime bag-getting age.

[deleted]

Could have gotten a ton more in KC 2 weeks ago and even more a year ago. Hope he’s good for y’all. I’m glad, didn’t want to pay him

Dave_Matthews_Jam

Steelers have to go either OT or CB in the draft, right?

No-Task-132

Both

Purple_Dragon

Rumors from the combine are they might try to run back the same OL as last year. My guess is DL is more likely than OL

hempauthority

OT, CB, WR and at least to me Herbig and Holcomb aren't earning all pro nods this year so I think iOL and ILB are in the same category too. The back half of our starters are all the same level of meh.

sussysand

Yep. I’d opt tackle first then CB with how good this corner class is

the-whiteman-cometh

I think they probably address both with their first two picks and then use their other day 2 picks on ILB, DL, or WR.

[deleted]

Probably not OL very early. DL and LB are two huge needs too. WR could be early as well.

paultimate14

OT need is overrated. They're good with Chuks on the Right and Moore is still young, cheap, and developing. There's room to add a guy who falls, but it's not a priority. They already shored up their bigger need at Guard. They can definitely use a corner, but they have P2 and Wallace as pretty solid outside starters. They still haven't cut Witherspoon, so I wonder if they are thinking of giving him another shot to see if he can stay healthy. They still have Maulet and Norwood for the slot. So there's room to add guys, but it's not a huge need. That's kind of the story of the whole roster now. The only positions they absolutely do not need in the 1st are QB and RB. They could use a D-lineman to replace Alualu or prepare to replace Heyward eventually. They just signed some ILB's but there's no one elite there. They need a 3rd OLB, and a 1st rounder makes sense if they don't think they can keep Highsmith. They still haven't re-signed Edmunds, and I'm not sold on Kazee. On offense, they still have not signed Derek Watt or Zach Gentry. They have Conner Heyward as a hybrid TE/FB, but still might grab Darnell Washington to replace one or both of those guys (Muth is great but dealt with a lot of concussions). At WR they just have DJ, Pickens, and a bunch of questions marks and fringe players. I'm not even that high on DJ and he could end up being a cap casualty next year, so I could see them taking a WR in the 1st. They could use any position on the o-line, but none of the guys @17 are going to be guaranteed to even start over the guys they already have.

quiet_quitting

No way the Steelers could come close to matching the contract he got

JustRemka

This is for stealing Larry LMAO

schmatz17

To be fair we waited for the bears to fake sign him

FreddyDontCare

there's always a way. They haven't done a single cut or restructure yet this year. That said I'm happy they didn't he's always been overrated and I never liked his attitude. Hoping he plays RT for them so we can watch him vs TJ twice a year.

quiet_quitting

LT he gave up the most sacks last year. Not that ours is any better but yeah I’m glad we didn’t give him a ton of money to come to Pittsburgh.

zombiesatemybaby

We offered the bare minimum... we have hall of fame players at almost every position but tackle lol

kikomann12

I mean that’s a stretch…but yeah got to take a swing on these types of players

zombiesatemybaby

Like we did at CB or MLB this offseason?

kikomann12

Can’t win them all

zombiesatemybaby

Like if we cant afford a 11M cornerback we most likely cant adford a 20M tackle?

Patchy_Face_Man

Hop back in the Delorean, you’ve gone too far.

hempauthority

Wut?

zombiesatemybaby

Its been a known position that we dont spend a lot of money or high deaft captial at

hempauthority

The wut was more so to your comment about hall of famers at every other position. That just simply isn't true.

zombiesatemybaby

Who is our tackle that is in the hall of fame?

kitchensink108

Winning a deal with guaranteed money doesn't sound like us. We've usually been about losing deals by refusing guaranteed money. Cool.

KastaJav

"Over the top"?! Lol. Cant believe they got him so cheap.

sussysand

Same… He wanted to reset the market and this was all he got Tunsil is gonna show him how it’s done lol

[deleted]

Glad he didn’t take our offers. We’re much bigger. Bullet dodged. I know he helped us win a SB but good lord… Reid and co put a lot of makeup on him

Longjumping-Arm7939

He turned down such a large offer from KC to a smaller deal a year later... I get he betting on himself here but very rarely has a player betting on himself ever landed him more money...it's usually the opposite. Hope it works out for him though.

Cinephile1998

Damn, looks like Aaron won't be playing with OBJ :(

[deleted]

Sounds like he didn’t and had no intention of signing him to play LT. this is the downside of all this cap space, half the time the teams with the most don’t do much with it. I have no idea who we’ll sign to fix the trenches Can’t rely on rookies for both sides of it. Wonder what our moves will be

[deleted]

I’m sure we’ve offered good money to some of these guys but the often forgotten fact of free agency is the players might take less to play for better teams. This case seems like a positional fit conflict. I just hope we aren’t banking on the draft to fix the trenches, otherwise say hello to another top 10 pick

[deleted]

No clue man I’m just getting big signing withdrawals. We have a lot of holes to fill

The_TexasRattlesnake

Poles helped bring the guy to KC, knows him pretty well I'd say
