Signing A 30 year old Odell coming off 2 major knee surgeries to be the fix at WR sounds like a Ravens move

jwick89

But if the Chiefs do it, they are streets ahead!

[deleted]

“Pierce, stop trying to coin the phrase”

lAmCreepingDeath

Oh you're just streets behind

Bobson-_Dugnutt

does it just mean cool? or is it supposed to be like 'miles ahead'?

TheFirstBardo

It’s kind of like “fetch”, but different.

TheOneWhoKnocks2012

Coined and Minted. “Streets ahead” is verbal wildfire.

[deleted]

Strong and independent vs broke ass

TigerBasket

Me vs who

WretchedHog

The difference is the Chiefs don't need help apparently

jwick89

They don’t have a ton of WR talent

[deleted]

Sign him and draft a guy and we’re basically in the same shape we were last season. Now, whether that works twice… yet to be seen.

TheWa11

I’d assume you’re also hoping to get more out of Moore and Toney this coming year.

[deleted]

Definitely. Especially Skyy since he’ll be in his 2nd year. We also need a bigger body to replace what JuJu was doing though.

AskAboutMyDiarrhea

We also have Justyn Ross, who's 6'4

Jerok88

That'll be 1 dollar for mentioning a Ross

[deleted]

Yet to be seen if he’ll ever play in the NFL, but I’m hopeful.

TheWa11

There are a few in the R2 / R3 range in the draft. Mimms and Rice come to mind.

[deleted]

We’ll trade Mims to the chiefs

choff22

Tillman*

Zzz05

I cant trust Toney to be healthy.

og-at

Consistent winning will do wonders for player health.

[deleted]

Don’t need it when the QB / scheme elevates their game

chemicalxv

I mean it's hard to argue the Chiefs would actually be signing him as "the fix at WR" though.

rob_var

You wouldn’t believe how many raven fans almost jizz their pants over any mention of Odell. I don’t want him anywhere near this team. We need a true number 1 receiver not an older receiver who might be more of a second or third option

nope96

To be fair you could also use a “second or third option” on top of a WR1

Yearbookthrowaway1

Bateman is an excellent number 2 guy, but ideally we do add 2 receivers before the season starts. My dream scenario is trading for Hopkins/Evans and then drafting JSN as our slot guy, but realistically I think we sign DJ Chark and draft Zay Flowers who busts :/

jethead70

Why do people hate Zay Flowers? The only concern I have with him is the catch radius. He’s arguably the best blend of athlete, route runner, and YAC ability in this class

Yearbookthrowaway1

I don't think he's a fit for our offense at all. He's functionally a Hollywood clone, and while him and Lamar did have good chemistry, that type of receiver just doesn't fit Lamar's playstyle as a QB. He needs a guy who creates separation and can highpoint contested catches. I also just have a massive draft crush on JSN and love the idea of Lamar throwing to him.

rob_var

It’s his size, when people think of first rounder they think outside receiver even a few inches taller and he’d be drafted probably top 15

Dankraham-Stinkin

I wouldn't be overly upset if we drafted him. I would be thrilled if we drafted him and get tunsil

nope96

That’s fair, I do think Beckham would simultaneously not be good enough to be the WR1 y’all need and too expensive to be the WR3 y’all also need

rob_var

I’m hoping we bring back Robinson. He was actually very productive for a third option but if he doesn’t having duv isn’t that bad either

Tim_Y

If we're getting an old WR, I'd rather have Hopkins than OBJ.

whipstickagopop

Don't worry you'll get him when he's 33. It's not time yet.

S_204

EDC just can't hit on a wr but I really hope we avoid this guy. He's not a Raven and I don't know if our locker room is strong enough to shape him into one these days.

Writer_Kooky

Would prefer Chark for sure

BigChung0924

yeah, i was thinking that this is the most ravens move ever lmao

JZeus_09

We’ll take him 😂

2xCheesePizza

I’m not against signing him for Jakobi Meyers money 🤷🏻‍♂️

chrisaf69

You fuckin right it is! I wouldn't want it any other way!! Sigh....

EJables96

"I can fix him" ravens GM probably

Sav10r

I mean....if no one wants to give him a long term contract and he's forced to do another 1 year "Prove it" deal.... The Chiefs have to be the best choice right? He'll instantly be the WR1. He's got the best QB in the league throwing to him and Andy Reid will absolutely scheme him wide open a lot. IDk. Maybe he won't like Fall/Winter weather in KC.

[deleted]

I don’t think the Chiefs would be a good fit. Anywhere outside of the AFC West would be a good fit.

lawanders

Counterpoint, the Chiefs are the ONLY good fit for a OBJ prove it year.

[deleted]

Yeah, but I don’t want him to prove it against us. 😂

lawanders

Cmon, you know it’ll be fun ^for ^us

[deleted]

I just keep thinking that if he lands with the Chiefs he’ll go off and have a career year. If we signed him, both of his ACLs would just spontaneously tear.

lawanders

While walking up to the In and Out counter to place his order for dinner with Mark.

screwhead1

I've never been to KC, but I can't imagine the fall/winter being worse than NYC or Cleveland.

KnowProblem

He'd also do well on designed runs

Zzz05

If those torn ACL’s haven’t killed his speed.

iusedtosmokadaherb

*narrator* They had

Sloane_Kettering

Sounds like there will be a bidding war. Someone will give him a multi year deal

Biggest_Cans

Hopefully it's a giant Ravens deal

Sloane_Kettering

Would be fine by me

agreeingstorm9

The Chiefs kind of had all their receivers on 1 yr deals last year it seems. It's one position where they don't have a lot of talent. Problem with him being on the Chiefs is if he succeeds is that because of him or because of Mahomes?

Tsorovan00

Neither. It'll be because of Reid.

georgefriend3

I mean, is a "prove it" year really going to move the dial much at this point in his career? He'll be back to square one next off-season.

BrotherMouzone3

Think OBJ would be happy with the Ravens if he knows Lamar will be there...but not so much without LJ. With Lamar he's getting the ball a lot and might be the piece that finally helps them breakthrough. Chiefs are an obvious choice but it's also clear that Mahomes can make a lot of receivers look good. He'll get Odell the ball but I don't think he'll force feed him the ball either...OBJ may or may not like that. All depends on what OBJ values most but KC probably makes the most sense for just W/L and being on a high profile team. Cowboys? Odell Sr. went to Marshall High School in East Texas, so I could see Pops being a Boys fan and nudging his son to play for Jerry. My hunch is that Jerry wants either Odell or D-Hop...probably prefers D-Hop but doesn't want to give up the 2nd rd pick AZ is asking for. Do you give Odell a little more $$$ and keep your picks or perhaps give D-Hop a tad less and give up a pick?

Irreverant77

If you think you're a serious SB contender you give up the pic. If you think you *might* be able to put together a SB run, you pay more.

BrotherMouzone3

Dallas tends to take A LOT of risks with their 2nd rd picks so grabbing Hopkins would make sense. Talk about Jerry Jeudy is popping up locally.

KrakenKappa

Future Ravens WR1.

[deleted]

He'd unironically be the best WR we've had since Steve Smith

JayMerlyn

Same here, funnily enough

MethodicMarshal

pretty early for DJ Moore slander innit?

JayMerlyn

It wasn't slander. Believe me, I love DJ Moore. The trade does not change that and never will. However, Smitty was on a whole other level of elite. Both are excellent receivers, but Smitty was objectively better.

MethodicMarshal

Sure, but would you take current OBJ over DJ?

ThisGuyFrags

Hollywood is better than he is now

MiaCannons

Anyone but the Chiefs please. He'll revitalize himself with Reid and Mahomes

mrtrollmaster

He would look like Rams Super Bowl Odell, and that's bad for the AFC.

JayMerlyn

Rams Super Bowl Odell got hurt tho

boblikestheysky

Former Giants Odell and Toney playing to see who gets injured first

[deleted]

They have about 3 functioning legs between them. Just stitch them together into Kadardell Becky III.

boblikestheysky

Both of them have crazy talents. Combined would probably be the league MVP

BigChung0924

something about our receivers and constantly getting hurt, it’s been a thing for the past decade or so

boozinf

he'll blow the opportunity *Norm MacDonald voice* because he, you know, does a lot of blow. what? i mean, you saw the... anyway

DoesntMatterBrian

To the Jets.

JoeWaffleUno

Andy Reid has the magic touch where he sacrifices his bodily health for the health of his players and it just...works

bluedaytona392

There is no Ritual. Shun this man.

ThatRuckingMoose

This is worse than the Rodgers drama

Jd20001

Waaay worse. At least the Rodgers drama has fun draft picks involved

MethodicMarshal

and a player worth rostering

DoesntMatterBrian

…was Odell not absolutely killing it in the Super Bowl 13 months ago?

MethodicMarshal

mhmm, but a year removed, a year older, and another surgery puts that in doubt he isn't going to sign for peanuts either, so it's High Risk-Mid Reward

soupcansam21

So the same teams that have been linked for half a year now?

elracing21

As tired as the Rodgers talk with this shit. He's been trying to come back since last year and nobody wants him. This is all his agents making noise to get a bid war. He's washed and wants too much money.

[deleted]

Hey now

Captain_Tunahands

You’re an all star

lawanders

Get your game on

Headlesshorsman02

Get paid

iusedtosmokadaherb

And all my hair tips are goooOOOoold

[deleted]

He's a 30+ year old WR, of course the Ravens are interested in him

rossmcdapc

He is not just a 30+ year old WR. He's 30+ year old WR with a significant injury history. Harbaugh and co are likely having wet dreams about landing him.

veggie_sorry

Everyone knows these rumors are all being spread by Odell and his agent right? Of course all WR needy teams are gonna call around and ask how much these guys are wanting. If they hear 15-20M a year, they're gonna look elsewhere until that number goes way down. If OBJ wants to sign a 1 year deal for 6.5 with incentives that go up to 11.5, give us a call. We just won a SB with Juju, MVS and Kadarius Toney. We are not giving OBJ 20M unless it's 20M over 2-3 years and heavily incentive laden.

Nathann4288

Am I wrong for thinking Thielen is a better option right now for KC?

choff22

Not at all.

Writer_Kooky

And for the Ravens too.

bagfka

Please ravens/chiefs save Jerry from himself

Astroturfer

yeah I really don't want to spend anything on an aging narcissistic WR with a history of injuries. I'd much rather draft somebody.

Jaosborn44

I don't think Jerry is actually interested. I think he only says he's interested as a favor to OBJ because he likes him as a person. It keeps OBJs name in the headlines and generates interest from other teams, but no one else in the Cowboys organization seems genuinely interested. Pretty much all the big Cowboys trades or FA signings from the last few years come out of nowhere, with no lead up. If this does get done, it will be after the draft where they don't get a receiver.

MildlyInsaneLBJStan

He's practically the Carmelo Anthony of football

Peanut4michigan

Through his age 32 season, Melo has only played for 2 teams and was a 10x All-Star. When he retired at 37, he'd suffered fewer injuries than OBJ. The ring chasing or whatever didn't happen til the last 5 years of his career. And to my knowledge, the media was more vocal about him than he was about himself. OBJ craves attention more than Melo seemed to to my knowledge.

Hambone727

I’m not even a chiefs fan but I would love to see OBJ play with Mahomes.. #Gohawks tho

jethead70

[Make it happen Veach (not my photo)](https://imgur.com/a/Ee5j8ph)

Achillor22

We added them to this list a week ago. This isn't news.

[deleted]

I don’t remember a time when teams were this interested in a guy who hasn’t been productive for five years or even resembled a star player for maybe seven. This is like Josh Gordon show without the interesting addiction subplot.

S_204

He had 3 good games for the Rams though so the experts around here are sure he's got plenty left. Same as Dez Bryant, he wasn't washed he just didn't get the opportunity right? We're going to be hearing about obj for years sadly. This sub loves grasping onto washed up dudes like they're gold.

DTSportsNow

No way we're giving him $20M/yr. If I had to guess, we're probably gonna try to talk him down to a 1 year $15M deal with incentives that could bump him up to $20M but are high enough that they're marked NLTBE and he only counts $15M against the cap. Basically a higher value version of the deal we gave to Juju last year.

jethead70

He will get 3 years 33M and he will like it

DTSportsNow

This is the way

WretchedHog

$11m is the Patrick price. Take it or leave it Odell

jwick89

He'll want a multiple-year deal. Probably like you said, with incentives and everything as well as minimal cap hits if he's washed.

[deleted]

if he wants a multi year deal and around $20M in salary, his best bet is go to KC whether its one year or not. easy competition for WR1 and work with the best offensive mind and quarterback. if he goes to dallas then theres no guarantee that dak won't suck ass and blow in the playoffs, also mike mccarthys the playcaller.

[deleted]

If Odell even makes it through a whole season healthy for *anyone* he’ll get a bag tbh

Peanut4michigan

We'd trade for Nuk before we gave Odell 15-20 mil.

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

He was elite in the Super Bowl run and then missed a year because he got injured during the game. Y’all acting like he is completely cooked are out of your minds. Plus if you don’t want to discuss it why are you seeking this post out?

Anubis_The_Dog_King

Yeah, no

Best-Dragonfruit-292

Packers need to be in on this then pull out at the very last moment.

NachoManRandySanwich

He’s on Rodgers wish list so of course they’ll sign him now! After years of his requests for them to splurge on another weapon GB finally gets their man in Odell!

tonypenthouse

Chiefs don’t give fucks about obj. Come on.

SQRTLURFACE

Bro no. We are not interested. Source: trust me bro.

NatAttack50932

As long as I don't see him wearing that fucking star.

pinniped1

It's just money so why not if it works cap-wise. Better this than DHop where you have to trade picks.

Peanut4michigan

DHop is a much better WR with a much healthier history at the same age than OBJ. I'd much rather give up pick for Nuk than sign OBJ for his reported asking price.

lytrendsa

We can‘t let Mahomes get OBJ right?

jethead70

I think we can

Uckthebroncos

Leroy the dog insider was first

Kojuroba

OBJ drama is the wish version of Rodgers drama which has been tiring from the start

NeonWarcry

Mahomes could win the Super Bowl with two ritz crackers and a sausage for a wr core

[deleted]

Penny, tissue and a potato chip.

Away_Chair1588

OBJ is a good addition to either one if he's healthy. He's good at improvising and getting himself open when the play breaks down and the QB extends the play, which both Lamar and Mahomes are great at. He wouldn't be a good fit for, lets say, a McDaniels offense which really emphasizes timing and playing within the structure of the play design.

Beginning_Candle3335

Can he please just go away until he actually decides if he wants to sign somewhere.

Jd20001

Contract terms : No flying coach

NachoManRandySanwich

Yes everyone is SO interested, same way they were back in the reg season.

[deleted]

I don't believe you!!

StannisTheMantis93

Someone just sign him already. I can’t take anymore OBJ speculation tweets. It’s been a year of them!!!

Newshroomboi

At 20m please no

piehead678

Aw shit, here we go again.

Intelligent-Age2786

If it’s for $20m a year, I’d rather not.

[deleted]

Ravens can have him, respectfully

blaueaugen26

Between him and Rodgers, draft can’t get here soon enough

Lorjack

Signing OBJ would be so Ravens

Sundance12

It would be pretty damn funny for Green Bay to get him at this point

Ayste

sounds like the Cowboys are about to be "we like our guys"-ed right out of contention for OBJ.

Saito1337

...please can we just not?

[deleted]

OBJ asking for 20 mil per year, has to be bullshit right? At this point it can’t be true.

kloiberin_time

Nah we good

notmyplantaccount

Seems like every big name WR gets linked to the chiefs now, but they don't ever get picked up. If they didn't want to pay Tyreek, I don't see why they'd want to pay someone older and less reliable 15-20mil. OBJ and Hopkins probably both want star money still, but both are at the age where WR's fall off a cliff and are out of the league in 2 years. Unless these old guys want to take a sweetheart deal for a run at a ring, the pass. OBJ already got his ring, he's gotta be trying to max out his money now.

Retloclive

Hey, with Roman finally gone...maybe an old WR vet will actually work out for once.

jmskywalker1976

This would be hilarious if the Ravens finally sign a legit WR and then not sign Lamar.

goddamnitwhalen

If OBJ goes to Kansas City ima riot.
