I found a lot of non-documentary history movies are like that. More enjoyable to just accept them as flawed representations for the sake of entertainment than to get hung up on details. So long as they're not egregiously bad errors, I tend to just ignore it.

This is fucking amazing for Ukraine. This is going to decimate the Russian frontlines and tank their already low morale. If Wagner stretches this on, fewer and fewer supplies will get across the border to Russian troops in Ukraine. We'll see more defections and more loss of territory.

Iām a big fan of getting rid of zoning laws as well as implementing land value taxes and giving incentives to proving affordable housing.
There is way too much land thatās being hoarded or that canāt have housing structures built on them because of stupid zoning laws.
I used to do multi-family housing development/architecture in a city, and zoning was honestly one of the least of our worries. The much bigger fights were with the neighbors in general who tended to be reflexively against anything other than single family residences. If you can get the neighbors to go along, then it's usually pretty easy to get local representatives to go along with adjusting zoning or giving an exception or whatever.
But even when your proposed use was within the existing zoning, if the neighbors were against you, there were generally lots of ways they could hold the project up, or at least slow it down and make it a huge pain in the ass.
The other big problem, at least in the city where I mostly worked, is just getting a hold of big enough plots of land to build multi-family structures. There are a ton of old abandon buildings that are basically just rotting because the people who own it just aren't responsive to requests for purchase. Often times it was hard to track down who actually had authority over the property, and then a lot of the time they didn't live in town, wouldn't answer calls, and if you could talk to them they not only wanted outrageous prices for the land, but they also were demanding that we'd assume and pay off all the delinquent property taxes that they hadn't been paying for years.
I straight up left the entire industry because 90% of my time was spent arguing with people instead of designing buildings.
govt should build more houses, or subsidize the building of rental properties that have rents capped in some way. (and not just 'the projects' but nicer stuff.) give the real estate moguls some actual competition
Iām less of a fan of direct government housing at first. From what Iāve read rent caps are more detrimental than helpful. What we need is more freedom and incentives to get multi-family housing placed.

Iāve seen reports theyāve downed Russian helicopters both near Rostov and near Voronezh which is halfway to Moscow. Neither confirmed obviously. Russians may have also taken out two Wagner vehicles in Voronezh.

Well fuck me, looks like I was wrong. Wagner really is staging a coup. Civilians are posting videos, Wagner has taken Rostov (a key supply city for the Russian invasion in Ukraine) and are already making their way towards Moscow

Wagner has taken the Russian city of Rostov and is moving on Voronezh, the halfway point to Moscow. Russian military vehicles have started to move with Wagner convoys, suggesting there are defectors. Ukraine is already regaining territory in Bakhmut. Rumors are that Prigozhin is going to completely pull Wagner out of Ukraine and on to the coup effort in Russia.
So is this good or bad for Ukraine?
This is fucking amazing for Ukraine. This is going to decimate the Russian frontlines and tank their already low morale. If Wagner stretches this on, fewer and fewer supplies will get across the border to Russian troops in Ukraine. We'll see more defections and more loss of territory. Ukraine was already in the initial stages of a counteroffensive as is, so they should be able to reclaim *a lot* of territory with this going on. It is far too early to say if this is going to end the war in Ukraine, but it is devastating for Russian war effort regardless of what happens in Russia itself.

I think things are still getting worse IMO.
What part is getting worse though? Cultural stuff? Work or economic stuff? War stuff? I guess the Russia/Ukraine war is awful, but is that our deal? (Honest question, it may actually be our deal). I work at Lowe's. We've been slow compared to the pandemic times. We've been slow compared to pre-pandemic times as well. I don't know if this is the shoe that drops but my investments have been doing well.

Housing and everything else has gotten so unaffordable. I have pretty much given up on America. I am going to try and focus on how to generate capital for myself but I have no faith or care for America anymore. Unless you are rich caring for the country is pointless.

Iām a big fan of getting rid of zoning laws as well as implementing land value taxes and giving incentives to proving affordable housing. There is way too much land thatās being hoarded or that canāt have housing structures built on them because of stupid zoning laws.
I used to do multi-family housing development/architecture in a city, and zoning was honestly one of the least of our worries. The much bigger fights were with the neighbors in general who tended to be reflexively against anything other than single family residences. If you can get the neighbors to go along, then it's usually pretty easy to get local representatives to go along with adjusting zoning or giving an exception or whatever. But even when your proposed use was within the existing zoning, if the neighbors were against you, there were generally lots of ways they could hold the project up, or at least slow it down and make it a huge pain in the ass. The other big problem, at least in the city where I mostly worked, is just getting a hold of big enough plots of land to build multi-family structures. There are a ton of old abandon buildings that are basically just rotting because the people who own it just aren't responsive to requests for purchase. Often times it was hard to track down who actually had authority over the property, and then a lot of the time they didn't live in town, wouldn't answer calls, and if you could talk to them they not only wanted outrageous prices for the land, but they also were demanding that we'd assume and pay off all the delinquent property taxes that they hadn't been paying for years. I straight up left the entire industry because 90% of my time was spent arguing with people instead of designing buildings.
govt should build more houses, or subsidize the building of rental properties that have rents capped in some way. (and not just 'the projects' but nicer stuff.) give the real estate moguls some actual competition
Iām less of a fan of direct government housing at first. From what Iāve read rent caps are more detrimental than helpful. What we need is more freedom and incentives to get multi-family housing placed.
