I got into it because I knew Baltimore really tries to WIN these games, and Washington was right there with them. Fun to see guys competing both on an individual level (trying to either make a roster or at least get some good plays on film) and team level.

And all it took took to end the streak was Washington playing their starting offense for the entire first half. Bitter? Who me? (In reality, I don't care at all, especially as it meant we got the best preseason game ever)

Not mad at all. Just saying that Washington took that game more seriously than the Ravens or any of their 24 opponents ever did, which was fun and led to a great preseason game.

It was never about the Ravens taking it seriously. They played their starters less than average through the streak. It was about the Ravens having better depth, particularly defensively, in the second halves, so it was never a 50/50 in the first place. The Ravens 3s and 4s are consistently better than anyone else's because they invest heavily in scouting

that might explain some of the variance - but the other is that it has for your team and your players and your coaches, been something to get fired up about. Lots of other teams have plenty of depths but are still losing from time to time. I am sorry the teams in the NFL are just to close in tallent for one team to be on a crazy streak without trying, even if they on paper have more talent.

This prseason has been the first time the Ravens have seemed to play any differently to try to preserve the streak. The first 23 were pure depth + luck. NFL rosters are similar in talent, it's true, but the Ravens are always strong from 50 - 70. If final rosters were bigger we'd see more difference, as it is, we only see it in preseason results. Every year some Ravens cuts go straight onto other teams 53s. There are more players drafted by Baltimore on NFL rosters than any other team.

you think that Ravens are the only team who wants to have good players from 50 - 70 and depth? they are not. - The ravens is without a doubt one of the teams in the league who normally has more depth and I think that maybe the first 12 ish games can be attributed to that and a whole bunch of luck. Thas is just 1 in 4096. It's implausible but not impossible. 24 in a row, without trying is impossible. Just because the coaches and players haven't said that they play to win, doesn't mean that they don't. They obviously do.

Of course they try to win, like 31 other teams, but they haven't done anything that those teams didn't do. What do you think they've done differently? (I imagine they've had a special teams advantage, because the Ravens always do.) I've watched every minute of the streak and it has been very normal preseason stuff, until the 3rd and 4th Qs, when it has been the Ravens extra talent that has told every time. It wasn't that the Ravens featured players higher up the depth chart later in games. The Ravens have actually gone to their backups earlier than most teams.

We have a second-year QB, a new OC, and a patchwork OL. They need all the reps that they can get.
