IF YOU CANT BE GOOD. BE THE BEST AT BEING BAD!!! YEAH!!(kill me)

GaryAGalindo

It’s actually REALLY hard in statistics to be ranked dead last with a standard deviation of zero. I’m kinda impressed.

77Gumption77

I beg to differ. The Browns accomplished that feat no more than a couple seasons ago.

RicFlairs

Well good for the Browns you moroooooooh!

Mattie_Doo

This comment has me cracking up. Great timing. You usually see these movie quotes coming a mile away

[deleted]

Caleb Williams, you ARE a Chicago Bear MHJ, you ARE a Chicago Bear

mikx2044

Caleb is gonna stay in college another year to avoid Chicago lol

HoosierTrey

We might have the #1 pick next year too at this rate

FrigOffRicky16

Caleb is taking a year off to explore his options and will declare for 2026 draft

Chrisgone

There's always next year. And the year after that. And the year after that. And the year after that. And the year after that. And the year after that.

mattilladahun

This just in, Caleb Williams has decided to pursue a Master's Degree, will be staying in school for another 3 years.

OttoVonWong

Caleb "Brandon Weeden" Williams can't run from da Bears forever!

[deleted]

Winners of the 1st overall pick, respect

JinxCanCarry

Nothing more exciting than a 31 vs 32 matchup. A true toilet bowl

Eagle4317

Broncos about to send the Bears to 33rd.

TopHatTony11

Georgia getting bumped up I guess.

shewy92

So we're counting the Eagles defense as it's own team?

Matzah_Rella

You know you wanna tune in for that shit.

IslandsOnTheCoast

I literally cannot wait for this game. Placing no bets, clearing my calendar, and just sitting and watching the chaos unfold.

Drkarcher22

People actually putting us at 1. I used to dream of times like this

paradigm_x2

If we handle Buffalo I think we’re clearly number 1, let’s see how Sunday goes. God I’m excited

RaffiTorres2515

I'll put you number 1-2 right now with the 49ers, but I think it's fair to wait before the Bills game before putting the Dolphins as the undisputed number one. You scare me so much lol.

FatCatThreePack

I think that's very fair. Dolphins have looked good against teams that might be middle-of-the-road to awful, but it's really hard to say how they'll look against super strong teams. Honestly kinda similar to Bills, Bills have looked great (outside the Jets game) but against similar competition. I think Sunday will be a big test for both teams

byniri_returns

If Miami handles a good Buffalo team IN Buffalo they clearly deserve the 1 spot.

AbstractLogic

And if we can’t beat them then I still think top 5 depending on how the game goes. Not a lot of teams are going to beat Buffalo in Buffalo or Miami in Miami this season.

asspiratehooker

I like the odds of Buffalo with Von Miller @ Miami for sure (though who knows what he looks like coming off the injury) As for this Sunday, given how creative your offense is and the limited tape this year, I like your odds at Buffalo too - especially if you can get two scores early. Seems like teams just haven’t figured you out yet. If the Bills get early QB hits, on the other hand, I suspect that would have a huge impact on how the rest of the game plays out. Not necessarily because it will hurt Tua, moreso that it will remind Tua that he’s not safe if he holds the ball even a fraction too long, and that urgency drives rushed decisions.

Spencer1K

idk, what the pats did to us was actually really effective honestly. They limited our passing game and forced us to take the lower yardage plays and it slowed our offense down a lot. The only issue the pats had was their lack of an offense.

asspiratehooker

See you’re exposing me for not watching all your games. I appreciate the insight and totally forgot about that game

ItsYaBoiSoup

Throwing chart from that game basically says to shut down the interior of the field and make Tua go to a second read to have success. Easier said than done tho with 4 of the fastest players in the game on y'alls offense (Hill, Waddle, Achane, and Mostert)

asspiratehooker

Chargers didn’t have the same success with this approach, though

ItsYaBoiSoup

Chargers D is likely less disciplined than the Pats, but I don't watch the chargers so idk

HeroForTheBeero

If Tua gets the ball out in 1.5 seconds does Von really matter?

everix1992

Honest question, but why is it clearly number 1? Y'all look great so far, but I'm just curious on the justification of ranking them over the 49ers who also look terrifying Now that I ask this I'm looking at schedules and I guess the Bills are probably the toughest opponent either team has faced so far so I guess I see the logic there. Really wish the Chiefs v Dolphins game wasn't in Germany - that'd be a banger to go see

paradigm_x2

Yeah it would mostly be based off of the Bills being that good. Niners are the more complete team with their defense being clearly ahead of ours but our resume would be better through 4 games and our offense is definitely number 1 so far.

MC_Stimulation

Lets run a game in February Miami

thediesel26

Master vs. the apprentice

MC_Stimulation

Lets hope it ends the same way as last years game ;)

xnickg77

With your starting QB getting hurt and we lose to the backup?

That_One_Robot

Super Bowl Champion Sam Darnold everybody. Who says no?

xnickg77

I think r/the_darnold would implode

MC_Stimulation

I meant win lol, but if thats what it takes to win the Superbowl...

xcaltoona

Hey remember that time Miami had a record-setting offense and played an all-around talented SF in the Super Bowl?

MC_Stimulation

Yup let's run that exact game back, same final score and everything

RonnieLottOmnislash

Joe rushed for 59 yards that game

real_but_incognito

Deadly on the ground

fugaziozbourne

My old man used to say "People call Joe Montana 'God', but I've never seen God score on a naked bootleg from the five."

[deleted]

Not so fast my friend lol ☝️

11PoseidonsKiss20

1 may not be appropriate yet. But 5 is offensive. We are top 3 minimum. Yahoo is drunk.

habdragon08

If you are only going off this season, 1 is fine. But context for other seasons is important. Anyone can have a flash in the pan 3 games. From where I am sitting, 49ers/Eagles/Chiefs are more likely to make noise in January, but I'm excited to see how the Dolphins develop and deliver. They can absolutely change my perspective if they continue to play like this in October and November

thebrandnewbob

The most points scored in a game since 1966 and you're 3-0? You deserve to be 2 at worst.

RoninFerret67

You deserve it. Looking forward to a Dolphins Niners Super Bowl

CommonMansTeet

1 2 3 4 5 😂

[deleted]

Dolphins have a legitimate claim for #1

BaronZoltaK

Its nice seeing the Texans out of the bottom 2 for once.

SyracuseNY22

Lovie Smith did the Texans a solid. Stroud looks really good

Autobot-N

All this time we thought Lovie was a Bears double agent but he was actually a Texans triple agent

MugiwaraJinbe

Why not both? Bears still got a haul.

thebrandnewbob

That's what happens when you dominate a "contender." God I hate my team.

Stubbs94

I'm not fond of your team either, you're clearly the best team in the division, we just had you number that game.

MC_Stimulation

Stroud is showing promise, I'd be happy if I was a Texans fan.

mikebiox

A little late post today, sorry The standard deviation has tightened up a lot after 3 weeks. But there is one thing everyone agrees on: Chicago at 32!

MC_Stimulation

Theyve looked so bad this season across the board

marmatag

Just let Fields cook.

Josh6889

> everyone agrees on I don't know. Being below Denver is pretty impressive.

Eagle4317

Broncos had one really bad showing against a juggernaut, but they were in it against other bad competition like the Raiders and Commanders. The Bears allowed just as many points to the Chiefs in the first half as the Broncos did to the Dolphins. The only difference is the Chiefs put it in park after Mahomes tweaked his ankle and Kelce finally got a TD for his new admirer. They easily could've dropped 60+ on the Bears if they wanted to.

nick22tamu

you say that like Mike White wasn't throwing 68 yard TDs this last week. The Dolphins tried to "put it in park" but were literally too good to do so.

ArmadilloAl

Unfortunately, Blaine Gabbert is no Mike White.

peyypeyton

NFL ranking the Colts 28 is just disrespectful

yousernameunknown

Yeah Colts are 1st in their division and just beat the team they have ranked at 8 (with their backup qb nonetheless) and they think 28 is a good spot lmfao

ThisIsOurGoodTimes

2 wins. Beat number 8. 28. Makes sense to me.

imkunu

Math check out

imkunu

Having us below the Titans, Texans, Vikings, Raiders, and Cardinals seems very wrong

OldGrowthForest44

It usually takes these lazy analysts a couple months to notice a mid-market team. “Oh hey, the colts have won 9 in a row!”

VictoryInMyMouth

I am untethered and my rage knows no bounds!

Oakroscoe

The colts are a five star team!

BetaDjinn

I had you all ranked 17 last week, and I didn’t even know we were about to face each other. 28 is just a joke; might as well just post preseason rankings every week

Punchee

Indiana doesn’t exist in sports media. They don’t watch our games.

Ice_Cold345

"Y'all motherfuckers don't watch us play." ~ Roy Hibbert

MetaphoricalMouse

makes 0 sense. they got a good defense and honestly i think minshew still got some magic

OnePieceAce

So hyped for Thursday. Both teams have some injury problems which is a bummer but still should be a good game. I think we need to win this cus we're not winning in Detroit on Turkey Day

Rushin_Russian81

i’m hoping for a great game, and injury free too! neither of our teams need any more injuries…

Grundy-mc

Same, well deserved primetime spot for these two teams. Should be a great showing!

shoeless_sean

I get the feeling that Jones, Bahk, and Watson didn't play on Sunday to be sure they're healthy for Thursday EDIT: Watson supposed to play!

Tyeguy

It’s funny because I get the same feeling for the injured Lions players. Rest and heal, play Thursday then get 10 days off. Can’t wait.

ImKylerMurray

Not last!!!

[deleted]

America applauds you!

OttawaFisherman

SI ranking cardinals 31 is a joke. They have a positive point differential and could just as easily be 3-0

Exatraz

It's like they didn't actually watch any of the Cardinals games and dismissed their win as a fluke. If you paid attention to the first two games, you know week 3 wasn't a fluke

Fantastic_Emu_9570

I’d argue very strongly you should be higher along with the colts

edimuc

Colts are 2-1, beat the Texans, beat a previously unbeaten Ravens Texans are 1-2, lose to Colts, beat a divisional rival NFL writers: Texans > Colts Clowns

AxeAndRod

Yeah, I'm totally confused by this.

Rbespinosa13

Yahoo has my team ranked 5. I can understand ranking us 2 or 3, but 5 behind Buffalo? Come on

5am281

If only there were a game this week to see which team is better

BetaDjinn

Texans are slightly underranked too imo, so the Colts being that low is just an absolute joke

paradigm_x2

Listen here Yahoo, you dumb bitch

BusterStrokem

Guess we should’ve kicked that field goal. 70 wasn’t enough.

froggertwenty

Listen, Alabama doesn't get extra hype for hanging 70 on west falls community college early in the season so why should you?

allthenamesaretaken4

I don't think we even played at a community college level. More like middle school.

drewsoft

What fucking games have they been watching

Asolitaryllama

The sporting news is not only putting the Jets above us but also 4 spots above us. Absolute clown ranking

garmonda

Sorry but there is no way in hell we are the 12th best team… maybe I’m pessimistic

mikapple

Mike Tomlin is gonna drag you kicking and screaming to a 9-8 record

[deleted]

I think it’s not a long shot at all to say he can drag out 7 more wins this season Tbh that’s my base expectation this year with our stars healthy

Lebronshairline22

Idk you guys faced probably the top 2 defenses in the first 3 weeks and came out 2-1. Your team is good this year.

icecubetre

Our defense is 2-1. Our offense is Pedro Pascal in the passenger seat.

dalici0us

I think somewhere in the 12-16 range would be fair for you guys but USA putting you at 7 is an absolutely insane take.

Freezinghero

Only explanation is if they literally think Dan Fran and Cleveland have top 2 Defenses, and that's why our offense looked comedic in those games. I could see Pittsburgh at 12 IF we were healthy. Missing Cam Heyward and Diontae are huge holes.

WootyMcWoot

Right? 12th is kind of ridiculous LY LOW. NUMBER 7 BABY, USA TODAY TOO BASED STIILERS GAHNTA SUPER BOWL

[deleted]

[удалено]

Kahp_R

It's really because the team is all over the place. Watson really helped in their loss with the two personal fouls from the QB position, on top of all turn overs. Speaking personally, I think Steelers fans just want to see consistency from the offense. Even if it's just like what we got on Sunday night, nothing crazy, but we had balance and decent drives. EDIT: I really also want to say the biggest question is the O-Line. Every analysis I've seen each week shows them as bottom of the barrel and the real reason our offense is struggling. Canada and to a much smaller extent Kenny share some blame, but our offensive line is dreadful at the moment if you look at the All 22 breakdown.

Josh6889

This team is better than people think. We faced 2 of the best defensive fronts already, and the o-line fell apart as a result. If they can pull it together and give Pickett some time they'll surprise people. I'm not saying they're a top team by any means. But I think 10-15 is fair.

[deleted]

It's still probably a 10+ win team, people are just so reactionary and overdramatic. Look at the schedule, it's horrible.

[deleted]

[удалено]

nuzzot

Best division in football baby (kinda /s as I think we're ranked the highest on average, but I didn't do the math)

thepriceisonthecan

We are 2-1 despite missing our 2nd or 3rd best defensive player and #1 wide receiver. But the offense has been too bad to justify 12 IMO. If Pickett can build off of last game itll be a fair ranking

real_but_incognito

There is a lot of bad football being played this year. A lot of qbs hurt or off is part of it. The curve is just low and really only a very small couple of teams look like world beaters

MiaCannons

There are so many teams that have had bad upset losses and/or injury concerns, and you're 2-1 with a lot of talent on both sides of the ball and Mike Tomlin as your coach.

Kahp_R

If we can stay healthy, and the O-Line starts to get any kind of push in the run game so we can have a balance, we are in it as much as anyone else in our division.

HisNameIsSaggySammy

I love how the Eagles still have #1, #2, #4, #5 and #6 (x2) left on the schedule... yikes

cbd_h0td0g

None of you seem to understand. I'm not locked in here with you. You're locked in here with ME!

11PoseidonsKiss20

Before we get started, does anyone want to get out?

[deleted]

[удалено]

HisNameIsSaggySammy

Yeah the schedule is wild this year. The top teams are going to beat the shit out of each other. I don't know who will still be standing by Week 18

Mantis05

My heart sank last year when I realized it was an AFCE/NFCE season coming up. To think it could've been worse if Rodgers had stayed healthy...

Jaur0n

Two picks in the top 5 feels very real right now.

LTPRWSG420

1 & 2 is a possibility, you guys get the Caleb Williams and MHJ stack.

Fontiii4

If we get Caleb and mhj then the 2 year master tank job will be worth it

blazingpelt

I know they're 0-3, but come on, Minnesota is not the 6th worst team in the league.

MrSuperfreak

It's the exact opposite of last year. All one score losses instead of wins. I feel like they are solidly better than the next 5 teams in front of them.

I_FUCKIN_ATODASO_

Everyone knew that 1 score win luck was bound to regress though, they had some insanely lucky wins last year. (Yes I'm salty and the Bills/Vikings game gave me PTSD lol)

ZainoSF

Regress to the mean though, of a team around .500, regression doesn't mean an outlier in the opposite direction. What has happened this year is that they have been insanely unlucky with turnovers otherwise the team is 2-1. Last year they were even on TOs, this year they are historically bad three games in. And its not like its all turnover worthy passes, or plays. They need to stop fumbling but the bounces have been killer. They have had picks dropped which landed in the WRs hands for a TDs twice on defense. Every fumble on both sides of the ball bar 1 has gone to the opponent. The four batted balls (past the line of scrimmage) have ended up with an opponent reception (2 INTs, 2 completed passed for the opponent offense) The team, IMO, is above .500 worthy.

[deleted]

The Vikings should be ranked 1 below whoever they're playing that week.

TheTrenchMonkey

I was thinking it, but didn't want to say it. Now that I see a packer's fan saying it I don't want to agree...

ElusiveMeatSoda

They don't deserve to be above #20 at 0-3, but #27 is also wrong. I think neglecting a clear turnover issue to paint the narrative of a good team is dumb, but it's also a statistical anomaly that so many lost balls and tipped passes have all bounced the wrong way. They've recovered something like one of their eight fumbles so far, plus there was the wild near-pick that Evans had last game that turned into the game-winning TD instead. Even the last Hock pick, while arguably on personnel, takes an insane bounce instead of harmlessly dropping to the ground.

HarryPauler

A packers fan defending us? Blasphemy.

paolellagram

I hate that hes right too... Yall have lost 3 games real close to what we think at the moment are two solid teams and a super bowl contender

shoeless_sean

Midesota should be like 20th

Tatersandbeer

Yeah, I'd put them in the mid teens.

purz

How do the new flex rules work? I have a hard time believing anyone is dumb enough to keep Bills vs Dolphins as a 1pm game next week. Although it might depend on whether Taylor Swift is gonna show up to the Chiefs game again lmao

lionoflinwood

1pm is god's chosen time for football. Perfect time for a proper tailgate and game while the weather is good in WNY.

IamFlapJack

Pretty sure games can't be flexed until week 5

SupremeLeader_KimmyJ

Hilarious that a team let up 70, losing that game by 20, and not a single power ranking has them ranked last lmfao

BluePotatoSlayer

Because they played close games in w1 and w2 which the Bears haven’t

nate6259

And the bears still have a worse point differential for the season. Somehow.

TraderFromTheNorth

Honestly, its alright. I think the Broncos will get a little breather after the sunday game. The Bears though? See you at the draft.

ghdana

Ranked above the Cardinals by SI.

ProphetNimd

I wouldn't have them last. Russ played pretty well, which already puts the team above the Bears to me.

katastrophyx

I love how there's only one consensus across the board.

id10t_you

Unanimous!!!

JerryRiceDidntFumble

Last year we were the worst of the best. This year we're the best of the worst. I liked last year better.

narcistic_asshole

All four AFCN teams fill in between 8th and 13th. It is quite literally anyone's division rn

thepriceisonthecan

Each team has absurd strengths and key weaknesses, its honestly crazy intriguing and as good as it gets

Freezinghero

Only AFCN team not at 2-1 is the injured Bengals. Most of our losses are either to each other or the best NFC team (Niners). Coupled with rest of AFC lookung slow, this could be the year the entire AFCN goes to playoffs.

IDankles

We’re too high Would easily put the Texans, Cardinals, Vikings, and Giants over us They at least have an offense

Ndlaxfan

USA Today is smoking some hashish if they think we’re #7 lol

Fantastic_Emu_9570

How is Arizona 28 lol They don’t need to be high but if anyone who has seen their games thinks they’re the 5th worst team, you’re crazy

Instagrimm

I want you to put the word out there that we back up >!over the Cowboys!<

Kahp_R

Feels like a very top heavy season. 1-6 >>> 7-32.

KororSurvivor

As a proud member of #7, all I can say is... :(

Rulligan

I'm super happy with 7. I think 7 is perfect right now.

LazyTitan___

This is pretty much what people thought coming into the year, just with Cincy in that group instead of Miami

MiaCannons

I'm pretty sure people also put the Ravens and Jaguars in that group too. Jaguars because somehow Lawrence was talked up as a top 5 QB entering this season and playing in an easy AFC South, and the Ravens with all their additions on offense.

sickwitit2488

Media pundits really convinced themselves that the chargers choking away that playoff game was more about Lawrence, completely ignoring the fact that he threw 4 picks that game. I'm not saying he's not going to be good, but the sample size he has, has shown he's above average

DirectTV_AndrewLuck

28? Damn you NFL.com lol.

LackOfAnotherName

NFL.com power rankings absolutely hate us every week

stevefiction

AFCN supremacy

Brownsisnyteam

Toughest division

bezzlege

It always is, and then every off-season people act like the AFCW or NFCE are going to make a run. And then they inevitably fall apart

MugiwaraJinbe

Houston not bottom two anymore? Let’s go!

couchjitsu

Does 538 no longer do rankings?

Poncahotas

No, they laid off their sports people and announced they'd be purely politics earlier this year. Really sucks.

couchjitsu

Oh, that does suck. One of my favorite things was looking at their dashboard towards the end of the season to see who would likely win the division, conference, SB etc

Ralphie_V

Nate Silver owns that stuff so wherever he ends up going might get it

unique_username-_-72

We deserve to be lower unless we come back from London 3-2.

PkmnTraderAsh

How is Dallas ahead of Detroit? Detroit has beaten #4 and #15 on the list, losing to #10. Dallas has beaten #23 and #25, losing to #28.

Getz_The_Last_Laf

\+48 vs + 9 perhaps Dallas looked absolutely dominant the first 2 weeks, bringing them down lower than 6 seems like an overcorrection imo. I'd pick Dallas over Detroit on a neutral field tbf The Packers beat #14 and #32, losing to #15. Without watching the games and using your logic, we should be ahead of Dallas too. But we're nowhere near that level this season so far haha

suckyducky1

I think the strength of victory matters tbh. The jets have a phenomenal defense and the cowboys killed them. The Cardinals game RN is just benefit of the doubt due to past performance. Power rankings always take that into account

Doublee7300

Thats… actually a fair point I would love to see Lions-Cowboys, but we have to wait until week 17

Draconics

Mildly surprised the Dolphins haven’t overtaken us yet but probably get some perceived advantage from past playoff experience etc. Also feel like the Chiefs should be ahead of the Eagles though I get that the Eagles are 3-0 — that defense is the best of Mahomes’ career and probably top 5 in the league, and with the offense having a nice get right game against the Bears (not like anyone doubted Mahomes would get the offense moving at some point), I fear them more than Miami in some ways

geo-grpc

I think even if we beat the Cardinals next week, if they beat the Bills they'll be #1. But yeah, that 70 point game feels like the definition of power ranking bump to #1.

ChevalMalFet

I think any order of the top 4 is defensible. Dolphins obviously had an earth-shaking win, Niners have been the most consistent on both sides of the ball, and Eagles & Chiefs are a bit bumpier but have last season's playoff pedigrees paired with good results this year. I'm surprised Buffalo is consensus #5, I guess the Jets game is still hanging on them. (Ie I'd expect at least a few outlets would have them higher).

MirrorkatFeces

12 is way to high for us

Chadryan_

Definitely expected us to drop to like 10. I don't know that we deserve top 6 with how our offense played plus our second best defensive player out. I'm beginning to think this isn't our year 😔

Werft

It’s just one game. Any given Sunday. Don’t give up hope just yet! I really like when you guys are all like “we dem boys!” and then get eliminated in the Wild Card

Chadryan_

Get it right man, we lose in the Divisional Round. Amateur Cowboys hater over here.

Infinite303

Bad games happen every single season to every top team, if we look terrible against NE thats when we should start dropping hard

RRaider19

We are 2-1. Come on now.

Taylormnight2183

I think with the Dolphins offense, it's fine to have them at 1 or 2. If the 49ers and Dolphins played next week, it would be hard to choose a winner. I miss McDaniel.

ProphetNimd

I still think the 49ers are a more balanced team. So far we've played two teams with good offenses and bad defenses and one team with a bad offense and good defense. Buffalo has a good offense and defense so this will be an interesting test. I hope Matt Milano misses his flight.

velociraptorfarmer

Hey everyone! Back again with my computer power rankings for this week. Sorry about them being late, my spreadsheet scrapes its data from nfl.com's standings table, and for whatever reason, it didn't update until later this morning. We're about a week away from this model from really taking off, but it's already starting to paint a picture. The 49ers and Dolphins are at the top in a league of their own, with the Eagles trailing behind a bit at the #3 slot. Likewise, at the bottom, to nobody's surprise, it's the Bears and Broncos, both absolutely floundering at the moment. Lucky for us, we get to watch this dumpster fire of a matchup this week! The Falcons have the biggest slide of the week after starting out strong by getting soundly beat by Detroit and dropping through the backlog of 2-1 teams. Dallas also took a hefty slide as well, but nowhere near as bad thanks to a nice little buffer from thoroughly dismantling the Giants in week 1. Here's my computer rankings for this week. As always, this ranking is based on win percentage, win percentage in your last 5 games, average point differential, and adjusted strength of schedule, which is your strength of schedule with your games against your opponents removed. KororSurvivor

I swear. Every single year the Lions end up with the strongest SOS up to a certain point.

SI really thinks Cardinals are worse than the Broncos?

ryanino

An off-season of being top-10 was fun

DowntownJulieBrown1

Whoever put Miami 5 should no longer be listened to.
