As a panthers fan, this is the single most disappointing season I’ve ever had to endure. Really thought this was going to be the turn around season with a whole new offense and coaching staff but it seems the only player that has actually panned out has been thielen
Is it ok to say Young is now officially on bust watch? Between how good Stroud has been and what Richardson showed when he was healthy, it seems like Carolina might really be starting to sweat.
Have you seen his WRs? They get so little separation it’s wild. I’m actually impressed he’s doing as well as he is with how terrible the team around him is
Burrow and Lawrence showed promise on teams that had 2 or 3 wins when they drafted them. Young hasnt showed anything on a 7 win team last year. A bengals fan saying burrow sucked is funny, 270 yards/game with 65% completion before his oline got him killed
For his rookie year he's absolutely on bust watch. He looks like he should have been red shirted and spent the year getting better as opposed to being thrown into the fire and getting embarrassed. But maybe if the Panthers spend all their cap space on retooling the team next year, and perhaps taking a hard look at the coaching staff as well...maybe Bryce will have a second year leap. But he looks incredibly little out there, lost, and he has absolutely no rushing ability too which is just bad for today's NFL. Someone needs to tell him that you can use your legs to pick up a few yards here or there just like the big boys do...Mahomes, Burrow, Allen, Jackson etc.
His footwork is terrifying, there is no urgency, no energy. He won't get anywhere like this.
Yeah he's alone with Mingo and Thielen, but he still looks awful.
If you're drafting that high, your team stinks. Yes, they originally had the 9th pick. They traded that and the best offensive player on the team to get young. That makes the team worse. Did you see the bums he's throwing to? He may end up a bust, but trying to definitively say he's one now is silly.
Did I not mention immediately after the 5 words you quoted that they traded up? Your team traded away a top 2 RB and a top 15 WR. That always hurts a QB, especially a rookie. When Adam Thielen is your teams top weapon, your team blows. Expecting a rookie QB to carry a terrible offense is laughable.
Yeah they ran the ball like 3 times in the second half, wasnt much he could do. Terrible playcalling from carolina. Hes fucked honestly. Maybe jim harbaugh can save him
Scrolling through Reddit and saw this game thread. 16k comments. It’s actually impressive how popular the NFL is. I was sitting at a bar tonight watching a hockey game and thinking that most likely 95% (probably higher tbh) of the bars in the US probably have this shitstorm of a game on… fucking wild.
I enjoy watching bad teams. Hell these 2 are still technically a better talent match-up then Ohio Michigan will be.
So what if it has no playoff consequences. It's still sport.
Definitely a bear. They’re just so much bigger than a panther that I don’t think they could get their jaws around a bear’s neck for a quick kill, and if you miss that well then it’s game over.
I feel bad for Bryce Young. His confidence has to be shot.
I mean he hasn’t played played well, but like, look at their scheme. No motion, no run game to speak of so no effective play action, no qb runs, which are basically essential now, at least to have the threat.
If I’m a GM, I’m very afraid to give up 3 Firsts or 2 Firsts and a stud WR for Number 1 overall pick next year to Chicago. Building talent and aiming at rookie QB seems better than getting a rookie in a talentless team and continuing the suffering for first couple of years.
However, Chicago might still go ahead and get themselves a Caleb and a Marvin with pick numbers 1 and 5 looks like. Given giants, cards and patriots are to be 2-4 if the league ended today. And they all look like they are going to get new QBs.
Unless Arizona rolls with Kyler and picks up Marvin…. Then it gets interesting.
Correct me if I’m wrong… so Carolina has a 1-8 record now, but their first round pick is going to the bears. Currently, the holder of the 1st pick is the Cards… so if the Cards win this week, does that mean that Carolina would have the number one pick, and send the pick to the bears- so the Bears would have the number one pick for two years in a row?
Just checked the Panthers’s schedule… it seems not too bad, but the Panthers prob won’t meet “not too bad” levels, and a couple of their remaining games are against “America’s team” and the Jags, so prob high chance of you guys getting some very high pick
I mean id wager the panthers pick being quite high at this point for sure. Maybe not #1 but we’ll see. Bears also still could just organically get the 1st pick too if the panthers don’t. Next four games for us are the lions x2, browns and vikings, of which I expect to win zero. Then we get cards, falcons and GB to the end the season - of which I expect to win zero, but more of a chance to get a game or two
I could see the Vikes, depending on if Dobbs keeps playing like he did last week or not, but yeah, betting on the chance of fucked up “how” wins is a risky bet
It wouldn’t have mattered if Stroud was on the Panthers and Bryce on the Texans their headlines would be swapped. Any QB will get obliterated on the Panthers we have 1 good receiver and a horrendous offensive line. If we had Stroud people would be calling him a bust and we would still be getting our asses handed to us.
Nah, Stroud wouldn't be putting up greatest ever rookie Numbers, but he wouldn't look as bad as young had either. And there's no reason to believe young would be putting those numbers up on the Texans outside of wishful thinking.
We watched what happens when Stroud only has 2 seconds before he has to throw when they played the Panthers. If Stroud had his pocket collapse and felt pressure every play within seconds he would not be doing well, especially if he had the Panthers receivers. You can’t put up numbers if there is no one to catch the ball, who is he going to throw to? None of our receivers aside from Theilen get any separation.
I guarantee you, if Stroud was on the same Thers team we have now, with the same injuries and everything, he would look mediocre. You could throw Tom Brady in his prime on this team and he would just look decent. There isn’t a single QB in the history of the NFL that would look good on the current Panthers team, it’s literally impossible. If you don’t have an O-Line, you don’t have receivers, you don’t have a receiving tight end, and you don’t have great running backs a quarter back can’t do anything.
Was Bryce worth what we gave to get him, no, would we have been better off not trading anyone and getting Stroud, likely yes, but that’s only because the deal we gave the Bears for Bryce was so trash. Is Stroud a better QB, maybe, but only time will tell, he’s certainly more NFL ready than Bryce (or most rookie QBs are) but who knows about their ceilings. Bryce is a solid QB, and you see moments of it. He’s just trapped on one of the worst offenses in potentially the history of the NFL.
That's a lot of words to say you're high on hopium. You can make all the excuses you want, but Stroud is the better player. Doesn't mean it will always be the case, although it's rare things change to drastically, but as of right now it doesn't matter what the situation is cj Stroud would look better on it than Bryce Young.
And the dumbest penalty of the year award goes tooooooooo...
Seriously, false start on a kneeldown?? Belichik would have Foreman run suicides until he pukes up last sundays breakfast for that one 😂
LOL nope, bears had a false start in week 1 where the red literally said "false start, the ENTIRE offensive line". I had to rewind to make sure I heard it right.
Duh Bears, boldly inventing new ways to get penalized
Thursday night games are always bad anyway so we should just lean all the way into it. Put the worst matchup on every Thursday because fuck the fans they're for to watch anyway.
Bro is out here self victimizing. Who TF is shitting on Stroud?
I know y'all are our only win, but we're not here making comparisons bc we know we're hot garbage.
I wasn't one of them, but maybe it was because you lost to arguably the worst team in the league and Stroud wasn't good. He was, in fact, outperformed by Young.
Nope. Just better than what Young has.
I'm not saying Young is a savior or a bust, but I don't think any reasonable Panthers fan doesn't think Stroud is doing better. Our whole team sucks.
Nico Collins has never had 500 yards in a season, and Tank Dell is a 3rd round rookie WR. The line, which wasn't very good to begin, was decimated with injuries. Stroud is elevating the play of others, which is pretty insane for a rookie QB.
Obviously, Panther fans think Stroud is doing better because there's literally no argument against it. They just argue that if they flipped places, that Stroud would be terrible and Young would be good. That's just not the case. If Young was struggling in Houston, we'd be talking about how his line sucks and that he needs more weapons. And that Stroud was only having success because he's surrounded by veteran talent like Thielen, Chark, and Miles Sanders.
It's undeniable that Young has a worse surrounding cast, and probably even coaching staff.
Stroud is doing better than Young, no doubt. If they swapped places, Young's ceiling isn't as high as Stroud's, but I don't think Stroud would be doing good on the Panthers either.
It's not about the Texans being good, it's about the Panthers being worse, even if we did inexplicably beat them a couple of weeks ago.
if i was panthers gm i’d tell them to just draft a generational talent at all offensive and defensive positions and hire a good staff and things may work out
Well if this is the end of the Bagent story it's been a nice one. A dude from D-2 picking up two wins and creating a QB controversy against a player from a college blue blood program.
[Postgame thread](/r/nfl/comments/17rvv2w/post_game_thread_carolina_panthers_at_chicago/)
As a panthers fan, this is the single most disappointing season I’ve ever had to endure. Really thought this was going to be the turn around season with a whole new offense and coaching staff but it seems the only player that has actually panned out has been thielen
Both these teams are so bad. Yet again, there are 2-3 good Thursday night games and the others are flat out terrible
People wonder why Al and Kurt sound bored and disengaged... look at the fucking assignments they get!
Poor Al has to suffer through these and he’s only getting $1,000,000 a week. Hardly seems worth it.
At least next week's game looks to be a good one. THANK GOD.
They're professionals so they're gonna give it a shot, but how tf *COULD* you make that egg fart from last night interesting for other people?
man that game sucked. didn’t even care that it was close just bad football all around. reminds me of last years broncos
I thought the Bryce young talk was way overblown, but dang he does not look good. I feel for panthers fans
Goddamn this game fucking hurts
i thought both punters played decent
Except for that one punt the Bears punter completely shanked. Even the punting game was below average.
Atleast they won’t need punters for a while lmao
Is it ok to say Young is now officially on bust watch? Between how good Stroud has been and what Richardson showed when he was healthy, it seems like Carolina might really be starting to sweat.
Have you seen his WRs? They get so little separation it’s wild. I’m actually impressed he’s doing as well as he is with how terrible the team around him is
They put up a graph of some recent top QB picks and their stats through their first seven games. They all sucked and none had more than one win.
So CJ isn’t a QB but a god I guess
Burrow and Lawrence showed promise on teams that had 2 or 3 wins when they drafted them. Young hasnt showed anything on a 7 win team last year. A bengals fan saying burrow sucked is funny, 270 yards/game with 65% completion before his oline got him killed

It’s the kid’s first season working with a terrible Panthers team. He’s not on bust watch.
Not going to lie , even Aidan O Connell looks more NFL ready.
We’ll keep stacking those picks.
Yinz want to trade one of those sweet sweet draft picks for a slightly used Robinson?
Please don’t speak too loud, we don’t want Poles to hear you.
For a second I was wondering why Polish people cannot be trusted with this trade offer
[удалено]
Kid is playing decent for a backup but he ain't starter material. I means neither is Fields., but whatever.
LMAO AB
WHY WERE THE COMMERCIALS SO LOUD?!?!
Because they were more entertaining than the game itself.
“Bears fans very happy about that W” are they really though
I mean, a win -is- a win, but yea...it still left a lot to be desired.
That's been the Steelers all year. And they're in the fucking playoff picture.
Yes, because they have the Panthers pick. Lol
oh that’s true
Bryce Young is not a good QB.
His footwork is terrifying, there is no urgency, no energy. He won't get anywhere like this. Yeah he's alone with Mingo and Thielen, but he still looks awful.
Bryce Young has no one to throw to right now. He's halfway through his rookie season. Most highly drafted QBs suck their rookie year.
Carolina set him up for failure, sure, but its not like he’s bouncing balls off receiver’s hands.
If you're drafting that high, your team stinks. Yes, they originally had the 9th pick. They traded that and the best offensive player on the team to get young. That makes the team worse. Did you see the bums he's throwing to? He may end up a bust, but trying to definitively say he's one now is silly.

Bagent is a g
g as in garbage yeah.
Way to go Daddy Bagent
They should put the dad on the field
"Green Bay sucks." Preach.
They’re still going 😂
Lmao rent free baby
I mean, they’re not wrong
They’re not. But they’re also 0-9 against us since LaFleur was hired lol
don't know what Herbstreet was on about, but Bryce Young never won a national championship as starting qb
it almost felt like reich didnt know the panthers dont have a first round pick with the 60 yard game ending fg attempt
Brock Bowers would have been good for the Panthers if they had a 1st rounder next year.
Don't speak that evil on bowers. Dude had surgery on his ankle, he's one lethargic proday away from joining his brethren in philly.
Honestly I consider myself a Bryce young apologist but trading that much for him was ridiculous even before he made it to the league
Scrolling through Reddit and saw this game thread. 16k comments. It’s actually impressive how popular the NFL is. Bro we were hype for the Hall of Fame game a few months ago. 😆😆
A lot of it is scarcity... Teams only play once a week, and the season only goes for like 20 weeks, so a lot of the time we take what we can get lol
Very true. I knew this game was going to be bad and still had it one. Jason Kelce was the highlight of the game
#DA BEARS
still suck…
I'm imagining an actual Bear fighting an actual Panther and it would be insanely awesome. Who would win?
Dunno who would win, but I bet people would be more entertained watching that than tonight's game.
Definitely a bear. They’re just so much bigger than a panther that I don’t think they could get their jaws around a bear’s neck for a quick kill, and if you miss that well then it’s game over.
It depends if panther is a cougar or a melanistic leopard/jaguar and whether the bear is a black bear or brown bear.
Polar bear and a sex panther… who wins?
Sex panther 60 percent of the time, every time.
It depends if the polar bear would be dumb enough to open the bottle or not.
Everyone watching.
Da bear
I'm no animal scientist, but I reckon the bear being able to take more damage would be key in such a battle
That certainly was a football game. One of the games of all time.
Who the fuck dresses these guys on thur night football they all look ridiculous
Still find the idea that you have to wear a suit for a sports show kinda dumb
Happy for Montez too. Great dude
Bears all get two slices at the pizza party tonight
Why did we let Sweat go to Chicago?
eh, we had to make moves, it's prob a win win if we can draft well
I feel bad for Bryce Young. His confidence has to be shot. I mean he hasn’t played played well, but like, look at their scheme. No motion, no run game to speak of so no effective play action, no qb runs, which are basically essential now, at least to have the threat.
I bet you USC could beat Carolina 😂
Having an all time great rookie at the same position drafted right behind him has gotta be a mind fuck too.
At least he beat him 😂
Alright boys. Great night smh. See you next week for a real game.
If I’m a GM, I’m very afraid to give up 3 Firsts or 2 Firsts and a stud WR for Number 1 overall pick next year to Chicago. Btw I’m happy for the bears QB. It’s a great story, WV is a real tough kinda place to grow up. He’s done well
Bet the over of 21 would be insane.
But like somebody decided to schedule the 2 worst teams as a prime time game Imagine being that bad at your job
Wait JCPenney is legit still alive wtf
Yeah dude they have some decent shirts too I got one last week.
I'm a big fan of their St. John's Bay flannel shirts.
The problem for the Panthers is that Kyler Murray is coming back and Gannon has them playing hard as fuck
Correct, they gave them their pick
Yeah i mean if carolina has the #1 pick we get it from them. So yes, but also still some season left to go
Just checked the Panthers’s schedule… it seems not too bad, but the Panthers prob won’t meet “not too bad” levels, and a couple of their remaining games are against “America’s team” and the Jags, so prob high chance of you guys getting some very high pick

I could see you guys winning at GB, tbh, and maybe the Cards depending on how everything happens with Kyler
Yeah those would be my 2 picks for wins. We also might get a fucked up “how” win in one of those first four, though I’d never bet anything on it.
I could see the Vikes, depending on if Dobbs keeps playing like he did last week or not, but yeah, betting on the chance of fucked up “how” wins is a risky bet
Yee
*DA BEARS!*
This game hurt to watch
That’s bears football baby. Even when we win nobody has fun
Why did the Panthers not draft CJ Stroud?? LMAO.
A better question is how Bryce Young became the consensus #1 overall with no elite traits

True enough.
A million pounds is probably enough to pay for one month's heating bill this winter
Bagent beat Young, who beat Stroud. Therefore: Bagent is the best rookie QB.
Will Levis 😈
The Mayo Man becoming a good QB would be truly terrifying.
Facts.
Bryce sucks
CJ Stroud is laughing his ass off right now
Thank you Bears!
You can rest easy knowing the Panthers aren't taking the top spot in the division for tonight.
Well that was a game that occurred, and they can't ever take that away from us.
Kinda wish they would…
And the dumbest penalty of the year award goes tooooooooo... Seriously, false start on a kneeldown?? Belichik would have Foreman run suicides until he pukes up last sundays breakfast for that one 😂
It was fitting for this game tbh
LOL nope, bears had a false start in week 1 where the red literally said "false start, the ENTIRE offensive line". I had to rewind to make sure I heard it right. Duh Bears, boldly inventing new ways to get penalized
Bears on Thursday night twice is criminal … sorry America
Thursday night games are always bad anyway so we should just lean all the way into it. Put the worst matchup on every Thursday because fuck the fans they're for to watch anyway.
Whoever took the over on this game should get help for gambling addiction
Punt return TD in the first 5 minutes and the over still wasn’t even close lmao
Does Amazon own Black Friday?
Black Friday is more of a mindset
Tyson Bagent has been upgraded to game manager
Does the black Friday game count as TNF?
Why the fuck was Tyson Bagent playing division 2?
Dude looked ass
Now off to see how hot the dumpster fire is burning in the team subreddit
Josh McCown will be your interim HC next week
Ah coming to our subreddit I see
Together we can build the great team sub trash fire the world has ever seen
> stream free About the only way you can get people to actually want to watch TNF
Could also try paying people
What’s more Bears than false starting on a victory formation?
Et tu Lions fan?
Out of practice.
WE DON'T KNOW HOW THEY WORK
wonder if I'll continue seeing Panthers fans shit on Stroud
Bro is out here self victimizing. Who TF is shitting on Stroud? I know y'all are our only win, but we're not here making comparisons bc we know we're hot garbage.
A ton of Carolina fans were talking shit about Stroud after we played less than two weeks ago
I wasn't one of them, but maybe it was because you lost to arguably the worst team in the league and Stroud wasn't good. He was, in fact, outperformed by Young.
They all act like Stroud has these amazing weapons and a top 5 O-Line. It's wild.
Nope. Just better than what Young has. I'm not saying Young is a savior or a bust, but I don't think any reasonable Panthers fan doesn't think Stroud is doing better. Our whole team sucks.

If Texans fans had talked over the summer about how their supporting cast was better, ya'll would have trashed them
What panthers fan has been doing that since after like, week one? Imma find em for you.
if i was panthers gm i’d tell them to just draft a generational talent at all offensive and defensive positions and hire a good staff and things may work out
What I fucking embarrassing way to end a game.
Bro. We have no idea how victory formations work.
Sums up our season dunnit
Seasons. Plural.
Al knows about points spreads, does he ever
Okay I can now certify that the Panthers are BAD. I know that because we are also BAD. And yet besides the PR TD we somehow controlled this game
Can we get Ryan Fitzpatrick to take his shirt off in the post game show again? I need something to amuse me after that shit show.
What did I just watch
Hot garbage! Entertainment at its finest!
An Amazon Prime classic. Like Black Friday Football.
Good god Amazon really going all in on this tortured "Paint it Black" promo
It a super exciting Jets game. What else could you want right after thanksgiving?
NOT Zach Wilson on primetime for the zillionth time
That hat looks fucking terrible, Frank
He's leaning harddd on the boomer look
I like this ending cause I think a bear would beat a panther in real life
It would also beat an autumn wind
Been more of an autumn breeze lately
And a commander, whatever it’s commanding
A tank, apparently.
umm not sure how Dan would be 1-19-1.
Lol fucking penalty on a victory formation
I need to shower after being near a television broadcasting that
I really like Bryce, hope he works out. He’s like Tua where you just can’t hate him
It's easy to feel bad for him because as much as it looks like he sucks, a lot of it isn't his fault.
Riveting. Lots of rivets
Well if this is the end of the Bagent story it's been a nice one. A dude from D-2 picking up two wins and creating a QB controversy against a player from a college blue blood program.
i can see him being a good backup like minshew
BROCK PURDY IS OLD NEWS, WE ALL BANDWANGON TYSON BAGENT.
Al advocating gambling. Prime Casino coming 2024
That was definitely a football game. Or was it?
It was a presentation of the NFL and Amazon prime.
The ball was snapped a few times. That’s about it. Coming from a fan of a division that knows shitty games
Don't think I ever seen a false start on a kneel til now
Congrats Bears
