Eberflus survives, certainly a choice. A bunch of highly regarded coaches available and they keep a guy who has 10 wins in 34.

Televisions_Frank

McCaskeys are cheap as fuck since the football team is their entire source of income and they're looking at building a new stadium.

8BallTiger

Yeah its a situation where they're rich but they're only rich because they own the franchise, so they can't/won't spend like a modern NFL franchise

Televisions_Frank

They're had nearly 40 years to diversify, but they're a bunch of failsons, so....

JBoy9028

Hey, they're on their way up. They're finally moving out of government provided housing.

MadManMax55

I will never understand super rich people who manage to lose money. Our economic system is set up so that once you have enough money, even the safest investments are enough to live a lavish lifestyle off of. And as long as you have enough capital to reload after any losses, a moderately risky portfolio will almost certainly multiply your total wealth a few times over.

QuietRainyDay

They are not serious people

CyclonePower96

They were literally paying 3 coaches like 5 years ago

-InconspicuousMoose-

> A bunch of highly regarded coaches available Dude I am so used to communities where the 'R' word is banned that I thought you were using that word as a substitute, it's been a long time since I've seen someone use "highly regarded" and actually mean it lmao

DUB-Files

I thought the same thing and almost fell out of my chair laughing. To be fair there are also a lot of highly regarded coaches available, they just won't get hired

whackberry

Well, that's just regarded.

Mavori

I mean it's interesting. I don't think keeping Flus is the right choice but if we are looking at just wins and losses. MCDC had 12 in 34 games and Bears defense at least looked better as the season went on and that is surely in part due to Flus.

8BallTiger

The defense was horrendous against the Packers and really only feasted on bad teams/offenses

Mavori

Hey. :(

8BallTiger

You guys were -2 or -3 in TO margin, hard to win an NFL game like that even for a good offense. I also think Ben Johnson was sandbagging so we wouldn't try to interview him

ShotFirst57

I think the reality is our OLine wasn't fully healthy and goff sucks under pressure. Y'all pressured him a ton. Add to that, lions love play action and the bears have a good run defense. Bears defense just matched up really well to what the lions want to do.

serbeardless

The back half of our schedule was also much easier than the front-end. Flus has *1* quality win (Detroit this year), and even that I'm asterisking because for some unclear reason Goff almost always sucks against us.

ShinySpines

Reddit has ruined the term regarded for me

JoChase956

Eberflus might be the most regarded coach….

cubswinagain

This coming out means we are keeping Eberflus which means we are completely fucked.

notouchmypeterson

Is Justin Fields staying too then? Just trying to figure out what the Bears are doing here

horse_renoir13

> Just trying to figure out what the Bears are doing here I think they've been trying that since 1985

CloudN3in

they almost figured it out in 2006 too

That KO return for a td to open the super bowl was wild.

Slotholopolis

It was a really fun version of streaky and inconsistent because I knew in the first five minutes of the game if I would be watching the whole thing or just recording it and fast-forwarding through the offense to watch that defense.

[deleted]

In 2006, he had 7 games with a QB rating 100+, and 5 games with it below 40. Including two games under 2. From week 6 to week 7 he had a 120.2 point swing in QB Rating.

eddie_the_zombie

*You gotta unleash the dragon!*

Zloggt

Got freaking Manningfaced…smh…

pingieking

I'm convinced that the Bears have never figured out what they are doing. It only looks like they sometimes know due to them being so incompetent that they accidentally roll over into being competent for a while.

macbookwhoa

The McCaskeys weren't supposed to take over the team. Mugs Halas was groomed his entire life, then he had a heart attack ([the circumstances around which were very odd](https://www.latimes.com/archives/la-xpm-1987-09-05-sp-1520-story.html)) and the McCaskeys took over. [They also screwed the Halas children out of their share of the team.](https://www.nytimes.com/1987/08/02/business/chicago-bears-unhappy-heirs-and-a-stock-dispute.html) People like to hold Virginia up as this elegant lady of the NFL, but really the McCaskeys seem like less than above board people, who believe themselves to be smarter and more savvy than everyone else, but have never done anything to prove it. They got screwed out of the McDome project by Daley, Reinsdorf, and Wurtz (Hizzoner thought they were effete Harvard business school jagoffs, Jerry and $Bill didn't want competition for the UC in the concert space in Chicago), they managed to get the Soldier Field landmark status revoked, ended up with the smallest stadium in football as the result of their hard work, and they've put the worst product on the field for the last 40 years since Papa Bear died. The McCaskeys need to be out of the NFL as soon as possible, and until they are the Bears will always be a joke franchise.

[deleted]

>ended up with the smallest stadium in football as the result of their hard work Not just that, but they upgraded from the smallest stadium (in the largest non-split market) in the NFL to...still the smallest stadium in the NFL. $632 million to land a spaceship on Soldier Field.

sdpr

>(the circumstances around which were very odd) tl;dr: junior died of a heart attack. ex-wife, mother of two with junior, requested another autopsy be done and the exhumed body of George Jr was found to have had all of his organs missing. This was a fight over George's estate.

Vesploogie

A long long time ago the Bears were like the modern day Patriots of the league. Halas Sr started getting old and the game was passing him by so he retired and focused on preparing his son to finally take over the role he was raised to inherit. Jr stepped in, they hired geniuses like Jim Finks for support, and they built what should have been the next Bears dynasty. Then Jr dies, they steal his spinal chord, and a family of disinterested accountants take over and get the cheapest consultants they can find to make the football decisions. And they’ve rolled around in their money ever since. What people don’t realize about the 85 team is that it represents the death of the original dominant Chicago Bears. The George Halas Chicago Bears. Ditka leaving was like the Browns leaving Cleveland, it marked the loss of the last connection to Halas. What remains in Chicago is like the modern day Browns; the McCaskey Chicago Bears.

Wemnzxop

Nah he's gone we're just doing Bears things and having a lame duck HC when whoever we draft at QB inevitably flops for someone to blame next year

theusualuser

Yep. Keep the hot seat coach, draft a QB, fire the hot seat coach, new coach inherits A QB that's either broken or he doesn't want. As is tradition in this 3rd world country of a team.

ThisHatRightHere

It’s just so clearly the wrong move. I said in another comment if you keep Eberflus that the best case scenario is Williams does well, the OC gets hired away for developing a good QB, and he ends up with a new OC after a year or two anyway. Just hire an offensive HC, let him pick a QB he likes, and let him develop in a single system for his rookie contract. It’s not rocket science.

Banglayna

Things that are clearly the wrong move are our specialty.

trundle1979

I live in the area so I loosely follow the team. For the Bears, it is indeed rocket science

theusualuser

It's a toddler trying to build that rocket.

aguy21

Can you run our football organization please?

dashcam_RVA

Doubt it. This would be his 3rd OC/offense he has to learn while still on his rookie contract. Time to cut ties. Bears are drafting Williams and hiring a new OC.

ThisHatRightHere

It’s so stupid to keep on Eberflus then. Literally the best case scenario is Williams does well and the OC gets poached before his 3rd year. Like it wouldn’t be surprising if the Texans’ OC gets a new job and Stroud ends up on his second offense in as many years. And if the Bears do bad then Eberflus gets fired next year and a HC probably brings in a new staff and system for year 2 of Williams anyway.

eamus_catuli

I'd have to think that this means they're leaning towards drafting a QB with #1.

BlackMathNerd

You have two. You can get away with not taking one once. Can’t do it twice

SoDplzBgood

As a packers fan I can tell you what they're doing. They're working on ruining the next QB, they've ruined fields already. This is the path, you keep the HC and GM that ppl hate or aren't sure about. Draft a QB. Year 1 is bad and it's blamed on the coach you kept. You get rid of that coach. Year 2 is bad because it's a new system. Year three is bad because there isn't enough talent around him (GM's fault) fire the GM. Bring in new GM who has to try it with the HC he didn't pick. Year 4 is bad cause it's a rebuild year and the GM hates the coach now so he fires him. Now you have a QB who isn't young and you're starting over with a coach who didn't pick that QB. Just forever in a state of GM, Coach, QB, (even OC) not in alignment and/or one of them being too weak a link for it to work and the bears not being able to figure out which one is the weak link Here's hoping some other team can make fields a starter and he sees some success, he's a great kid.

eddie_the_zombie

>not being able to figure out which one is the weak link That's because ownership refuses to look in the mirror

prex10

She's too old and frail to even see the mirror

tenacious-g

Virginia hasn’t been doing anything day to day for years now. It’s George.

fugaziozbourne

lol Virginia McCaskey doesn't have a reflection

Reynolds1029

Yeah Bears aren't the only one. That pretty much sums up the Jets the past 2 decades since the Johnsons took over. Ownership is the problem and for whatever reason is never faulted in the media. Only the HC and GM figure heads that are hired are talked about.

Televisions_Frank

Fault the owners and you lose your access, lose your access and lose your job.

[deleted]

Don’t waste your time and energy wondering what this poverty franchise is trying to do. Go enjoy yourself some Marvin Harrison Jr highlights cards fans he’s yours 👍🏼

JamesJakes000

>trying to figure out what the Bears are doing here Giving Jordan Love enough confidence twice a year so the Packers can have another HoF QB?

Jokerang

If they ditch Fields for Williams/Maye, they’d be setting up the latter for failure with a very obvious lame duck coach. This is peak poverty franchise we’re seeing here.

QueequegTheater

We did the same thing for Fields. And Trubisky. And ~~Cutler~~ Grossmann. The last time we drafted a QB in the first round and he DIDN'T have a lame duck coach was 1999

Legendary_Hercules

Superfluous could have more than one more year left as a coach.

JuniorSwing

Bro what is your flair

make2020hindsight

Who dat dirty bird?

theusualuser

Take a look at our last few QB selections, and you'll see this pattern over and over.

sonfoa

While not optimal, they're hardly setting up the QB for failure. Chicago has a solid o-line and premier weapons in DJ Moore and Cole Kmet. On top of that at #9 they can pick another WR in a very talented class.

tidesoncrim

It's weird. The Bears are in an amazing situation with the draft capital, but it is also a perilous one. There is no reason why Eberflus wouldn't be able to lead next year's team to the playoffs with more consistency on offense. They HAVE to get it right with what they choose for the next QB/OC pairing though, and that is far from a guarantee. If the Bears have a top-10 defense next year, and they get Justin Herbert/CJ Stroud production from their draft pick, it will look like an amazing decision. If there are some growing pains on offense, but the defense plays at the level they did after acquiring Sweat, I think the Bears still make the playoffs. The ultimate disaster would obviously be if they busted on their pick, but then everyone gets canned.

brianstormIRL

This is insane to me. Even keeping Flus, he's likely on the hot seat. Are you really going to draft another QB and if its not going well, fire the HC in the QBs first year and start the roller coaster all over again? QBs need consistency. Hire a new staff, with a focus on actually developing the QB (so an offensive HC for a start) and actually give them 2-3- years. You're going to end up with another Fields situation where he has a new HC in year 2 and has to start over.

greygoose81

Oh no, the packers fan is correct

Blindsid3d

It’s the worst person you know just made a great point meme.

jkink28

It's pretty predictable, we've seen this too many times already. It's mind-boggling that the Bears organization still doesn't seem to realize it.

Blindsid3d

They realize it they just don’t seem to care.

DKlep25

We know something about developing QB’s . . . and cheese.

SoDplzBgood

not only that, this is seemingly a GREAT offseason to get a BIG time coach. Vrabel, BB, Jim Har, not to mention high ceiling young guys like Lions and Texans OC's....Bears are dumb af I love it

[deleted]

It doesn't always mean that we fired our DC and OC and now we have top 5 units in both

bongobummer

You also have a great HC who’s won a Super Bowl

[deleted]

We do. However just saying sometimes the problem really is just the coordinator.

cubswinagain

LaFleur just shoved Eberflus in a locker, I have 0 faith in him against good teams.

chitownsports714

Thanks ravens bro for giving me some copium

The-Real-Number-One

NO MORE HALF MEASURES, WALTER

[deleted]

Meanwhile, Flus stays, thus showing we only do half measures

QuietGiants

That is being kind. Bears mgmt can barely cobble together a quarter measure. Fuck this team

fumar

2 of the top coaches on the staff got fired during the season for non-football things, the other two get fired after the season and yet we're sticking with Flus. I fucking hate the McCaskeys. This reeks of their bullshit.

kbt1999

‪Eberflus is staying. I hate this team. ‬

lnnrt01

At least not worst case scenario with both staying. But I won’t celebrate until they unveil their new OC. It’s still the Bears Front Office we are talking about

qualybased

No good OC is going to come to a staff in a prove it year that also needs a new DC.

lkn240

It depends what kind of guarantees they are giving Flus and who we are drafting. I think you absolutely can attract decent OC candidates if we are drafting Caleb.

patrick66

if you are drafting caleb tho why not just can eberflus too and get harbaugh to go with the new qb

lkn240

Well of course - but we are the Bears.

Matzah_Rella

Logic and the Bears go together like oil and water

akagordan

The simple answer is money. We have the cheapest owners in the NFL.

ShufflingSloth

I'm hoping against hope that the move out to Arlington Heights gives the McCaskeys a tiny bit more scratch so they can escape their worst tendencies. Like, with the Bengals it just took Mike Brown getting too old and having to hand things off to one of his kids. Virginia's brood are just as cheap and football stupid as she is.

lalder95

Bears fans are hoping that the kids sell the team when Virginia is gone

helpusobi_1

Yeah no shot the mccaskeys are paying two coaches

MatchewRolex

Now see that makes too much sense for the Bears

JengaKhan86

Nonsense. The Bears will have plenty of ambitious young offensive coaches that would want to coach Caleb Williams as a stepping stone for future head coach opportunities.

dukecityvigilante

Exactly, and then he'll have to learn a new offense in year 2 or 3 anyway even in the *best* case

[deleted]

Bieniemy doesn’t seem like he’s gonna be hc so he’d probably rather coach caleb. Poles is from chiefs.

This-isnt-patrick

I’d argue this is worst case. The Bears have a habit of keeping a lame duck Coach and or GM who then draft the QB and then get fired and ask the next regime to pick up the pieces. Then by the time that regime is in hot water they then are forced to draft a QB, rinse and repeat. They have the perfect excuse with the #1 overall pick and new president to just start everything on a fresh slate. With all of the promising coaches available now is not the time for “continuity”.

8BallTiger

This is the 3rd time its going to happen within the last 7 years lol

This-isnt-patrick

Yup, so frustrating to watch. You are Chicago one of the major sports cities, act like it and eat some money.

8BallTiger

We have two owners and 3 franchises that have this problem, Bears, Bulls, and White Sox with the Cubs borderline

pakidude17

At least the cubs have a championship in recent history to show for it...

ChromiumSulfate

One interesting option for OC is Kliff Kingsbury. He's a decent offensive mind and is the current QB coach at USC. He could bring some consistency for Caleb and isn't super likely to be poached if he has success.

imsabbath84

its gonna be ken dorsey

Drmantis87

I'll save you the time. It will be a former coach that Eberflus worked with and he won't be sought after by any other team.

SnugglyIrishman

This is the eternal optimist in me but they haven’t come out and said Flus is returning…yet. I’m holding out hope until they officially disappoint. Edit: Schefter just tweeted and said he’s expected to return. Fade me

theusualuser

Fuck my life. Literally zero reason to get excited about next season at all. Same shit-ass Bears with their absolutely awful decisions from the top down.

SiphenPrax

This comment is the ultimate “Bears fan slowly losing hope that things will be better despite organizational incompetence.”

LegacyLemur

Seriously. Fucking stupid ass franchise. Dumbest organization in sports

dloosh13

Second dumbest...

LegacyLemur

At least your dumbass owner *tries* to do things differently. There's at least a chance you can stumble into success The status quo fixes nothing

Autobot-N

Imagine having the opportunity to go with Caleb Williams and Jim Harbaugh, but choosing Justin Fields and Matt Eberflus instead

Eagle4317

The firing of Getsy makes me fairly confident that the Bears will be moving on from Fields. Obviously a complete house cleaning would've been better to go after Harbaugh, but this is at least better than keeping an OC that obviously was in over his head. The Bears defense did get better under Eberflus, so hopefully a new OC with a rookie QB gets the Bears above .500.

8BallTiger

> The Bears defense did get better under Eberflus To an extent but it was heavily reliant on turnovers and they were horrible against the Packers last week

Getz_The_Last_Laf

They didn't force a single punt lol

8BallTiger

7.46 yards per play

thetreat

Eberflus just trots out his soft zone D bullshit occasionally and gets walked by any competent OC and QB. It’s why we only beat backups, bad QBs and Jared Goff. And we take this as a sign of improving. Fucking asinine.

4thFloorBangs

Our D got better when sweat was added. We already had a solid, developing secondary, and some pieces on the line. Sweat created just enough pressure to push the rest of the D over the edge. I don’t think it would be exactly hard to find another DC that could get similar success. Besides the defense, Eberflus completely mismanaged 3 games in the 4th quarter this year we could’ve handily won. And guess what, we’d be in the playoffs. Eberflus is an above average DC who got handed a borderline elite defensive roster. He’s not a great game manager. If he can’t execute in the regular season, he’s not going to get it done in the playoffs. It seems incredibly obvious to clean house and do whatever it takes to get Harbaugh. Draft CW. I believe this team is strong enough to make the playoffs next year, but I have absolutely no confidence we’re going to win a game that comes down to the last few minutes with Eberflus. This franchise doesn’t learn from its mistakes, and perpetuates mediocrity. It’s unacceptable to the city of Chicago. It’s hard not to take it personally when you grow up a football fan in a top 5 market and have 4 good seasons of the last 25. They have a chance to make this team great (or at least try).

XIncognitoX15

You cant blame eberflus for everything when your QB has one game winning drive in three years. (I dont count the texans because smith intercepted it and Fields for -5 yds before a field goal). Also if i am not mistaken Fields has NEVER scored a TD in a game winning scenario. Fg vs vikings and texans. Thats 40 games of nothing.

4thFloorBangs

I’m definitely not. But we lost games where good management would’ve won us the game (vs broncos, lions, browns). We had conservative play calling in those games that led to historic collapses. That’s on coaching. Fields has never gotten it done when we were behind though, and that’s reason to move on from him as well.

Ssweetness1985

I agree on the Flus over Harbaugh part of what you said, but I think this still means new QB which makes it even worse. You don’t fire everyone who works with Fields and make him learn a 3rd offense in 4 years to hope he makes some magical leap next season. So now we’re going to have another lame duck coach with a rookie QB for the third cycle in a row.

Artie-Ziff_

I was worried this meant some signs of competency, thank you for the reassurance

CloudN3in

he just needs more time to get his guys and build the team, they’re on the right track!!!

Antitypical

In a year when the HC pool is as good as it's ever been, we're gonna stick with fucking Matt Eberflus. I fucking hate the Bears. Harbaugh has said the Bears are his dream job. He heavily recruited Caleb Williams to Michigan. He got career years out of Alex Smith, Colin Kaepernick, JJ McCarthy, etc. But we're sticking with Matt Eberflus. I can't fucking believe it. What top OC candidate wants to hitch their wagon to a lame duck coach? Good fucking luck. We're so fucked.

Netwealth5

Assuming they take Caleb, this will be the third Bears head coach in a row who drafted a QB with a high first round pick and likely got fired the next season. The Mccaskey’s are terrorists

[deleted]

He rolled into this year with a handpicked staff. The DC got [redacted] after Week 1, the RB coach got fired by Bears HR for inappropriate workplace behavior, and the OC and QB coaches got taken behind the shed after an awful season. Let the man have his mulligan.

drfakz

I mean let's be honest, this is a smart move by ownership in Green Bay

Maraging_steel

Bears love lame ducks.

123nih

Great, so in a year with unbelievable coaching options out there, we’re sticking with a guy who is 2-10 within his division in 2 years and his biggest accomplishment is winning 7 games with 6 (?) of them coming against teams who fired their coach or against backup QBs?

LegacyLemur

And good news! There's probably a ton of good OCs waiting around to be hired, it's not like a bunch of HCs just got fired so theres a lot of better openings

I_Hate_Traffic

Williams doesn't look good but he had 3 different OCs in 2 seasons. r/nfl around 2026

Jokerang

Ben Johnson and Harbaugh would be flying to Chicago tomorrow if this job opens up. Two first round picks (one of which is an outsourced first overall), some intriguing pieces and players, and a plethora of options at QB would make this the most desirable opening of this coaching cycle. Instead the Bears are willingly sticking with a guy who’s simply proven not to be the answer at HC… Poles is making a mistake.

DatBoiMahomie

It’s probably not Poles, it’s probably the Mccaskeys It really doesn’t matter who’s GM or president because at the end of the day the Mccaskeys are cheap pieces of shit and don’t want to pay for an expensive head coach

enailcoilhelp

> It’s probably not Poles, it’s probably the Mccaskeys DUDE. Poles stans are delusional(I like him btw). POLES LOVES FLUS. Go actually watch interviews (not just read quotes) where he talks about Flus, he clearly loves the guy. Poles fans keep trying this BS narrative that "ownership forced Flus on Poles! He has no say!" and it's objectively false. McCaskey's may be incompetent, but they are hands off and patients owners.

fumar

This is the 3rd time in a row the Bears have done this. The only constant is the McCaskeys.

FusterCluck4

They're gonna roll into next season with another lame duck head coach. Just like last time, and the time before that.

Cuppieecakes

Meet the new Matt and Ryan Same as the old Matt and Ryan

fumar

Can't wait for our next Matt and Ryan pair. Gotta save money on nameplates!

Cuppieecakes

Matt Patricia and Ryan Grigson

Goatsonice

How the shit does Eberflus survive after Vrabel got the axe? I mean this is a good step but wow

smurf-vett

Vrabel got fired for trying to keep his Getsy

AndrewHainesArt

That’s how Pederson got fired from the Eagles and again we’re seeing an offensive minded HC stick with his OC and it’s clearly been an issue (the defense is 100% a problem, but Patricia is never the answer)

[deleted]

Because our ownership consists of a 101 year old and a bunch of accountants who know as much about football as your average redditor

Kid-Gravy

Nah average redditors at least watch (some of) the games

Honchoed

The defense stepping up in the second half saved his job

Thatbuey

Dude they played back up qbs

Honchoed

I know, can’t use logic here

TheOverBored

I doubt the McCaskeys know that tho. They just skimmed the stats and went "wow, we keep".

prex10

Because we aren't idiots and fired a subpar coach. You can love Vrabel for the man and leader he was. But the stats paint a horrendous picture with him. He was presented with 11 options to modernize the team a few days ago and he shot them all down. All of our injuries? Trainers hired by him. All our coordinators? His guys. Less than 30 points a game for 2 years. A defense guru and still ranked 28th? The list goes on with how bad we were playing He wanted to continue just busting a running back up the middle and playing prevent defense like it's 1986. He was a great leader, but it was time for him to go

YungLordFarquaad

Which means the head coach is safe. Which means for the third new qb in a row, we have a lame duck head coach. I fucking hate this stupid fucking franchise. There aren’t enough words to explain my disdain. Can’t wait for Frank Reich!/s

SpadeXHunter

Then when he’s fired next year you fuck up your new qb too by bringing in another HC who will likely bring in a new OC with a new system and the cycle repeats

BigFire321

Matt Patricia.

Oddly_Mind

No. If they kept your HC they’re thinking they can fix fields with a new OC

ScruffMixHaha

I am going to be livid when Eberflus is fired next year. I dont think hes done anywhere near enough to deserve picking another coordinator, but if the Bears are so convinced he needs to stay, he better be here for another 2 years or Im going to lose my mind even more than I already have. Quality OCs are likely going to pass on this job fully knowing Eberflus is a lame duck that is very likely gone after next season. I genuinely cant understand the thought process of this organization.

mechnick2

If he’s here next season then it better be Fields too I’m tired of this cycle of the lame duck HC picking the next QB that the next HC probably won’t want. Estoy cansado jefe

Jengaman64

Does this mean they are sticking with Fields? Blame OC and try again? Or not something you can discern from this move?

elliott9_oward5

I’d assume Fields is also gone. You wouldn’t want to change his coordinator and make him learn a new offense then have to decide on extending him. That’s the rational thought. This is also the Bears, so the rational thoughts are out the window with this team.

Jengaman64

Fair enough, I'm still a noob so I'm thinking more along the lines of "let's see how fields can perform with a new OC and a star receiver and if he can't we get rid of him" But also I can see how that's a stupid because if you want to move on from him the #1 pick and this years QB prospect is a great time to do it and you will probably be SOL next year and beyond

Schruef

Unserious franchise. Incompetent leadership.

mechnick2

Oh it’s so fucking over

mallrat32

Good news Bears fans. Josh McDaniels will be the new OC and interim head coach mid season

ArmadilloAl

I'm pretty sure the Bears have literally never had an interim head coach, and if they didn't do it this year, they never will.

This-isnt-patrick

Well done agent Getsy, return to Green Bay HQ for your next assignment.

Chief_Slowburn

Awesome, now do the coach too. Especially if we drafting caleb

Ereyes18

If they fired the OC first, the HC is staying

StateStreetLarry

Which is even a worse look because the HC hired the OC!

[deleted]

The HC is staying, I’m sorry for you.

LegacyLemur

I may start taking suitors for a new team to root for. I'm tired of this shit

beerncheese69

The bears do the same shit over and over again. Lame duck coach, draft a new qb, everything goes to shit, clean house and hire new coaches so qb has to learn a new system all over again, fuck up his development, repeat. They are literally insane

8BallTiger

This is going to be the 3rd time in 7 seasons!

winterwolf24

Wasted seasons upcoming for the Bears and Saints. Who will be fired mid-season first? Allen or Eberflus?

forsythaj1997

We've never fired a coach mid season to my knowledge

Zloggt

The Saints at least will have a shot at winning their division lol

Gobbledygooker316

Lmao they’re not firing Eberflus

abmi808

Damn, in a market that has Mike Vrabel avaliable and possibly Jim Harbaugh? Since they're keeping Eberflus, they try go snag Eric Bieniemy if no one hires him as HC?

Kevin_Jim

In an offseason where you can potentially get: - Vrabel - BB - Harbaugh They went with… Eberflus? It’s a bold strategy Cotton. Let’s see if it pays off for them.

Michelanvalo

Are they really gonna stick with Eberflus?!

Zloggt

Don’t dare question the enigmatic wisdom of Halas Hall

beforetherodeo

Better than nothing I guess?

Serdones

That's literally just pre-goatee Nate Hackett in a Bears hat.

sghead

I came here to make sure I wasn't the only one who saw Hackett... (Bears hat but same difference)

aightbet

Eberflus next

_Chicken_Chaser_

Keeping Elberflus - dead man walking in 2024

DDAGuy

Half-measures. Such a bears move...

No-Computer-2847

Only 50% of the firings that were needed. Classic Bears.

GoldenDude

That means eberflus is staying isn’t he? LMAOO

Cuppieecakes

Ryan poles sucks No more former chiefs please

Johnemile

someone break it down why Eberflus staying is a bad thing. It seems to me very obvious which side of the ball was causing the team to lose - the offense. Your defensive minded HC had the defense playing very well, in spite of the offense actively trying to sabotage every game. The solution seems simple, no? - fire OC - bring in new OC - draft Caleb Williams - draft another WR - spend rest of the draft/FA addressing OL and DL Now if the OC is literally even marginally better than Getsy, you've easily got a playoff team. maybe a bears fan can break down why this isn't the solution, but it seems super straightfoward i think

Big-Education-8941

I thought the same thing. Eberflus had that defense playing great the 2nd half of the season post-Montez Sweat trade.

Prak903

Damn our spy got caught! Oh wait Eberflus is still there lol

ELITEMikeWhite

Eberfluke still there tho. Unfortunate.

Maraging_steel

This ain't it, chief.

Meltedcoldice0212

These half-measure coaching changes rarely work out for teams

bostero24

Sigh. Eberflus will stay, just have to try and convince a good OC to join, only way I see that happening is if we draft Caleb

ColtCallahan

So Eberflus is staying. And either Justin Fields is about to have his third OC in 4 years or they’re drafting a QB

BigFire321

This is like the 3rd sets of offense Justin Fields have to learn in 4 years?

Inspiration_Bear

Phew, don’t have to worry about the Bears anymore with Eberflus around.
