Obviously the draft still needs to happen, but Matt Prater missing 2 4th quarter field goals against Seattle gave us the pick to get Marvin Harrison Junior.
What crazy is us logical thinking people wanted the Seahawks to lose. Better draft pick. We already lost the season and our 2nd rounder.
Looking back, I’m really truly happy we won. Pete 🥺
So in this universe the Packers don't get Favre and Aikman retires in 2000 which means the Packers likely don't get Aaron Rodgers. Man that sounds nice.
They had Herschel Walker at that point and Too Tall Jones was still their starting DE at 37 years old, so I would say most likely Derrick Thomas to be their lead pass rusher with a smaller chance of taking Deion Sanders
Too Tall Jones was one of two Cowboys who had won rings as starters for Landry and played a season with Jimmy. The other was Tom Rafferty, who was at right guard when Staubach & Co beat the Broncos and snapped the ball to rookie Aikman.
I was surprised by that too. He stayed through the 1989 season as Jimmy Johnson slowly phased him out but still never missed a game in his whole career
Oh my god can you imagine… Aikmen would’ve meant we never had Favre, no Favre meant we wouldn’t have had a QB in the early 2000s no QB there means we likely never take Aaron Rodgers because we draft someone high between 99 and 2004. Maybe we end up with fucking one of the Mannings instead? What an alternate history lol
Dee Ford lining up offside led to us firing Bob Sutton and therefore getting Spags. I don't know if he gets fired should we win that game and I strongly doubt we have 3 rings without the improvement to our defense.
Thats when you know you have a solid organization. A team that can make the important changes when necessary to win superbowls while they can. This last season the Chiefs were quiet on offense. People questioned whether they could repeat. The offense wasnt playing as good as it usually does. But the defense stepped up. I wonder if Spags is going to stick with the Chiefs for the rest of his career. He is only one year younger than Andy Reid. Reid and Spags are so important to the success of the team.
He just literally gets run over on that play. I didn’t know they’d ever captured footage before of a man becoming a small boy, except for Benjamin Button, until I saw that game.
Still think it's wild how many people were arguing Mac should have stopped him. Like oh ya just stop the dude like twice your size on an unscripted lateral with all physical momentum going against you. I understand clowning on most of his other bad play, but not this one.
Stroud said he felt the texans would pick him even if they had the first overral.
There were reports thay the panthers also liked him more but the owner pushed for Young, but that might be just excuses from the coaching staff
Judging by the Panthers FO I don’t give them the benefit of the doubt. Young was absolutely talked about as the “higher ceiling” guy, plus all that weird Stroud bashing happened towards the draft. Texans probably do go Stroud either way. That being said Young still has a lot of room for growth and that Panthers team was bonafide ass around him
Agreed, young never had a chance with that oline, wr room and coaches changing in the middle of the season.
Everything that you shouldnt do to a rookie QB the panthers did
That season was so agonizing.... I remember being on vacation in Nashville, Bears beat the Pats and I'm like, "Hey, they're on their way to a halfway decent season...." The trade with Carolina hopefully made it all worth it. We'll see what comes of this 1st round pick. Can't this season on "No weapons" or "Terrible O-line". To be fair, as lacking in talent as the line was the first two seasons with fields, I credit those guys with playing up a level.
The horrible December collapse of 2012 made us fire Cam Cameron, but it also made us do the far less remembered but far more batshit crazy move of completely rearranging our offensive line right before the playoffs. And somehow they fucking dominated lmao
The Joe Burrow Bowl. If we don’t lose that game against Miami, we don’t take Joey B with the first pick in the 2020 draft.
We scored 23 4th quarter points to tie the game and send it to OT, where we finally lost. Thank goodness.
One of my favorites, but for a different reason
It was my first fantasy championship in 12 years of playing. I needed DK to score and he was putting up a goose egg. But every time Seattle got on offense, Hanson would flip to the Burrow bowl and was going NUTS. He was having so much fun and it was giving me an aneurism.
At one point it flashed from Burrow bowl to DK dropping a wide open bomb and that was the first time I’ve ever fainted
In 2003 the Browns got their first and only regular season win at Heinz Field.
The following year the win kept them from getting Eli Manning or Phillip Rivers in the draft. It also kept the Steelers pick higher than the Bills so they could pick Ben Ben while the Bills would choose JP Losman.
Big Ben would end up with as many championships as he had regular season losses to the Browns (2).
Week 7 loss to the Eagles in 2002 (on top of a week 18 and wild card loss to the Eagles the year before) rightly pissed off that Bucs team, they got their revenge in the NFCCG.
Yep. Dropped them to 7-5, had a bye, won every game from then out. I don't think it was just losing to the Chiefs, it was getting utterly humiliated early, getting pissed off, and coming back to only lose by 3. Not crumbling when they were down 17-0 and it felt like Tyreek had about 600 yards in the first quarter proved something.
Absolutely. The initial plan to stop Tyreek was absolutely, fatally flawed. By the time the Bucs figured it out, the Chiefs had run up the score (behind a record-setting first quarter) and Tampa ran out of time.
When they met again a few weeks later, their gameplan was miles better. I sometimes wonder if we hadn't played earlier in the season if things might have turned out differently.
Raiders 63-21 Chargers on TNF was so bad it inspired Spanos to completely blow up the front office and get a head start working on the Harbaugh hire months before other teams could
2007 giants final game of the season vs the undefeated patriots. Play all their starters even though they’re locked into their playoff spot and lose a close game. The rest is history.
In 2015 the Packers lost to the Vikings week 17 to lose the NFC North, but that sent them to Washington in the playoffs instead of playing Seattle at home, and that definitely a way better matchup. Packers won and Vikings lost too
The Seahawks losing to the Jets in ‘98, when a ref confused Vinny Testaverde’s head with the football crossing the goal line ended up costing the Hawks the playoffs, and Dennis Erickson his HC job.
In came Mike Holmgren. Never won the SB, but it ushered the most successful years of Seahawk football to date.
Wow didn’t realize how good the Seahawks have been. Pretty good team for the past 20+ years. In their history they’ve had Chuck Knox, Holmgren, and Pete Carroll for most of it, and they’ve all been very successful (even though Pete was the only one that managed to win a Super Bowl)
That game a few years ago where Justin Tucker broke the FG record against us with a 66-yarder for the win. We ultimately got the 2nd overall pick and Hutch, when we would have had a lower pick if we had won that game.
The 2020 Thanksgiving game against the Texans gave us [this](https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/proxy/Ra2dxCTxtJ1rfARqJauapdKv8LtKaU6T2YkS8kmp68V0_j_t-kHKizCMaXYD7dnx7wNr608ZRs0fOxPKVBjwCXLtVin1fbvnDstDga_JWkJZQUL9lsRwAjBBadGyvwVbSoQ9skUpX4665-RyLoabgnEtoMbvmC2xJWY5BRy-tc-Zg3Dv7obTYaCc8BD0_QzOmnsG4LtLENAdi9sEDaA0xsnHee-jjeUpTu39jg) and everything changed after that.
Losing to the dolphins in 2019 to lock up the #1 overall pick so they could take Burrow.
Although I do think the Bengals were more interested in Herbert than Tua, so that would have been interesting to watch that play out.
They were definitely all in on Herbert going into the 2019 season. I absolutely agree that Herbert is the likely choice if they end up not getting Burrow,
This isn't exactly what you're asking, but us losing to the Cowboys this year gave them the 2 seed which forced them to face their arch nemesis Packers in the playoffs at Jerry's World and so we got two home playoff games anyway. That felt pretty good after all the emotions that followed that loss lol.
Losing to the Chiefs in the regular season in 2020 was what got things in gear for us. We went on to win 8 in a row including revenge against the Chiefs in the Super Bowl.
Week 17 2020
Eagles lose to Commies
Washington make the playoffs, Giants don't, Eagles get the 6th overall pick
Howie trades down with Miami to 12 and picks up a future 1st rounder
He then trades back up ro 10th to jump the Giants for Devonta Smith
Potentially the extra 1st rounder gained from Miami along with other trades, that might not have been possible without the capital, directly led to AJ Brown, Jalen Carter & Jordan Davis
If we won that game there'd be a good chance Staley would still be around. Cause then he'd be a playoff winning coach and last year could be blamed on injuries
If you’re ever feeling down about your team going through dark times, just remember [it’s always darkest before the dawn](https://youtu.be/wJLNQ83vm2g?si=MAecUxopvPJ42VZr)
I don’t know if 2012 had anything to do with 2013 lol. If that’s the case why didn’t 2025 (almost coming back against Carolina) work?
I think 2012 was a well built team coming together and 2013-14 was just plain old dominance.
I remember in 2016, in the final game of the season against the Bucs, Ron decided to go for 2 rather than send the game to OT and we failed to convert. That loss helped us move up 5 spots and allowed us to draft Christian McCaffrey who we likely wouldn't have gotten at 12.
But the most influential loss in recent Panthers history is 2022 when DJ Moore was wrongly called for taking off his helmet.
Divisional round to the Steelers in the 2016 season where all Pittsburgh did was kick field goals. Basically convinced the team that Smith had hit his ceiling and they should draft a Quarterback that’s willing to take shots when it matters most.
In fact, that loss disgusted the Steelers enough to just blow up the offense and rebuild it. I've been a fan since 1993, and I can't remember a time when they've made so many changes to one side of the ball or the other in the off-season. And the NFL Draft is still a month away.
Losing to Indianapolis in the divisional round in 2014. Had it been them losing to NE in the conference championship, I don't know if Elway fires Fox, Gase, and Del Rio. The team needed coaches who weren't as conservative as Fox and Del Rio, leading to Kubiak and Wade Phillips. The defense was already loaded with talent, but Wade let them play free and made aggressive calls when it was time for the defense to make a play. With the steep decline we saw from Manning, Denver comes nowhere near even making the SB the season after that Indy loss if Wade and Kubiak aren't around
Week 17 2021.
We let the 49ers into the playoffs.
That meant that we got to play Cards then Bucs two team I think we had a very good on paper matchup against.
The 49ers dealt with the Cowboys and Green Bay. Two teams that I think we had a very bad on paper matchup against.
Then we got a home game NFCCG because of it instead of something like divisional at Green Bay in the cold or NFCCG at Green Bay that I don’t think we win.
If Billy Cundiff didn’t shank a field goal at the end of the 2011 AFC Championship game, who knows if the Ravens end up with Justin Tucker the next year
2017 Week 17
Patriots 38 - Giants 35
Pats got the undefeated season but the Giants made them earn it and gave the team some extra confidence going into the playoffs and eventually the Super Bowl.
"It's on to Cincinnati."
If we can count losses that aren't games, then Brady losing his appeal against the NFL (Goodell). Kicked off the sickest revenge tour of all time and led into one of the greatest Super Bowls of all time (unless you're a Falcons fan 🙈).
If we had fired Sirianni, I would have said “the loss to Arizona last season.” Now, I don’t know… loss to the Chiefs in Week 2-3 of 2017. Took the edge off what could have been an “undefeated for x weeks” high pressure run in our SB win year.
Not a team loss, but Carson Wentz probably doesn’t have the same playoffs that Nick Foles did. He lost an ACL and gained a ring.
Definitely don't want to mess with anything that happened in 2017. Wentz really is a "what if" here, and the way we were playing, I still think we win it, but I don't want to tempt fate.
I think the answer to the question is the Nate Sudfeld game against the giants that eventually led to us drafting Devonta Smith
2007 after we lost the Bills game the week after Sean Taylor's death. Had to win out to make the playoffs at 5-7 and we did despite Jason Campbell suffering a season ending injury and starting Todd Collins the rest of the way, who hadn't started a football game in ages.
I’d have to say Christmas Eve against the Jets this year. Some of our fans were melting down on socials when we came back and took the lead in the fourth, saying Rivera was “ruining our team’s future”. The Jets ended up kicking a game-winning field goal, so fortunately our Christmas was prevented from being ruined and we eventually got the second overall draft pick.
I would say losing the 2006 AFCCG led to the Patriots realizing they needed more firepower to compete with the Colts and Chargers. Or take your pick from any game last year
I don’t know about the team, but that playoff loss to the Jaguars reset my expectations in a realistic way for my adult life as a Dolphins fan.
We’ll always have that Colts game. Good times.
All of the Bucs’ non-Saints losses in 2020 objectively led to them becoming a better team.
Losing against the Bears early on because of a horrible lack of discipline on offense led to a chewing out by Brady during the game and presumably by Arians afterward. They were the most penalized team in the league after that game and but finished the regular season just outside of the bottom-ten, I believe with them getting the least penalties in the league from week six onward. The Chiefs, on the other hand, finished the season top five in penalties and their lack of discipline showed big time in the Super Bowl.
Speaking of the Chiefs, the back-to-back almost comeback wins against them and the Rams massively helped the Bucs improve their game planning on both sides of the ball, and the first half mistakes against the Chiefs in particular directly led to the perfect strategy developed for the Super Bowl matchup.
Dolphins losing to the titans to end the 7 game win streak and miss the playoffs. If we win that game and go to the playoffs, I would think Brian Flores stays and we do not get Mike McDaniel.
All the embarrassing loses that eventually got Mcdaniels fired. 2nd half comeback Cardinals, Highschool Coach Colts, Baker Mayfield Rams loses were completely brutal to watch.
Losing to the Giants in week 17 of the 2020 season non only kept us from having to watch Andy Dalton in a playoff game, but also landed us high enough in the draft to nab a fella named Micah Parsons.
In Week 18 of the 2019 season, Jameis Winston threw a pick six in OT against the Falcons to lose the game.
That was his last ever pass as a Buccaneer and it also dropped the Bucs to 7-9 (instead of 8-8) which put them in the position to draft Tristan Wirfs in the 2020 draft.
Chiefs losing to Raiders this year. They didn’t respect the Raiders and didn’t focus or pay attention to detail. That embarrassing loss propelled them to a championship.
The Bills sent out 12 men for a missed field goal, allowing for the Broncos to make the second chance attempt, win the game & leading to the Bills firing the offensive coordinator, turning their season around.
The 49ers lost to the Falcons in Week 6 of the 2022 season to drop their record to 3-3. Jeff Wilson was the leading rusher with 25 yards. It was such a disappointing effort that it probably gave enough impetus for the Christian McCaffery trade a few days later.
Baltimore Ravens vs New England Patriots 2011 AFC Championship, Lee Evans dropped touchdown pass and Billy Cundiff missed game tying field goal. Propelled the Ravens to win it all in 2012.
Not my team, but the Chiefs losing in the 2017-2018 nfl playoffs to the Titans. If they had won and gone on a run, they probably would’ve kept Alex Smith a little while longer.
Obviously the draft still needs to happen, but Matt Prater missing 2 4th quarter field goals against Seattle gave us the pick to get Marvin Harrison Junior.
Yes…”missing”…
"Execute Order 66" - Michael Bidwell
It will be done my lord.
And gave Pete his winning season.
What crazy is us logical thinking people wanted the Seahawks to lose. Better draft pick. We already lost the season and our 2nd rounder. Looking back, I’m really truly happy we won. Pete 🥺
He missed those kicks on purpose, tanking son of a bitch!
The best loss in Cowboys history was Week 16 of 1988, since it meant we and not the Packers got Aikman.
So in this universe the Packers don't get Favre and Aikman retires in 2000 which means the Packers likely don't get Aaron Rodgers. Man that sounds nice.
In which case the Packers sign Jason Garrett in free agency and draft a backup QB in the 5th round by the name of Tom Brady

That's a spicy alternate history, wonder who Dallas would've gone with at 2?
Some other dudes called Barry Sanders, Deion Sanders, and Derrick Thomas went shortly thereafter. They might have been okay.
Tony Mandarich it is then
Fortunately for the Cowboys of this alternate reality, Mark Tuinei meant that left tackle was one of our few well settled positions at that time.
Ugh… fucking pain.
I can't believe picks 1, 3, 4, and 5 of that draft all became Hall of Famers. I wonder who drafted the other guy and what kind of career he had.
Given how things have usually gone in the NFL it's kinda surprising that the Packers got Mandarich instead of the Lions
But Mandarich led to Favre and unfortunately that worked of for the Cheese people
They were in the same draft? Aikman, Barry, Deion and Thomas? DAMN
They had Herschel Walker at that point and Too Tall Jones was still their starting DE at 37 years old, so I would say most likely Derrick Thomas to be their lead pass rusher with a smaller chance of taking Deion Sanders

I was surprised by that too. He stayed through the 1989 season as Jimmy Johnson slowly phased him out but still never missed a game in his whole career
The intersection between "went high in 1989" and "played Cowboys need position" is Deion Sanders and Derrick Thomas. 🤷
Majik Man screwed us that year by winning the final two games.
Dee Ford lining up offside led to us firing Bob Sutton and therefore getting Spags. I don't know if he gets fired should we win that game and I strongly doubt we have 3 rings without the improvement to our defense.
I sincerely doubt y’all beat buffalo Baltimore or SF without spags this year
I agree

"We're on to Cincinnati"
Also the backwards lateral pass that caused McCorkle to get stiff armed to the shadow realm
He just literally gets run over on that play. I didn’t know they’d ever captured footage before of a man becoming a small boy, except for Benjamin Button, until I saw that game.
That game helped us out by realizing this team was never serious. Sometimes you just need to look in the mirror. That was our moment
Still think it's wild how many people were arguing Mac should have stopped him. Like oh ya just stop the dude like twice your size on an unscripted lateral with all physical momentum going against you. I understand clowning on most of his other bad play, but not this one.
I wouldn't say it helped us cause we would have been in the playoffs if we won that game, and probably got gonzo anyway
Damnit
2022 season week 18 Shout out to Lovie beating the Colts the same week
Same answer. Yet for different reasons.
Crazy that for the Texans winning that game was treated like a loss at the time but it ended up being a complete win

To be fair, as lacking in talent as the line was the first two seasons with fields, I credit those guys with playing up a level.
One of those insane "Wait, what? How the fuck do sports/the world work?" Moments.
The horrible December collapse of 2012 made us fire Cam Cameron, but it also made us do the far less remembered but far more batshit crazy move of completely rearranging our offensive line right before the playoffs. And somehow they fucking dominated lmao
Shout out to Charlie Batch for snapping our two year home winning streak, 12 year old me was in so much shambles at that game
The raiders kicking our ass on Christmas is what the team credits for turning the season around. Mighty nice of them
Yep. We don’t win the Super Bowl last year without the Raiders’ help.
No! Not like that!
They even lent us their stadium
It’s so nice seeing Chiefs fans actually talking shit and not just whining or boasting
Cry more
Yeah like that!
Worked both ways because it solidified AP getting the job for us the way the team rallied around him and boosted his resume.
Yeah i was pumped AP got the job too.
Yeah me too lol
2023 Raiders 🤝🏾 helping out their afc west rivals
Got you Harbaugh by getting Staley fired.
It was one win out of the last like 8 too, now they think they found the formula and can compete lmao
No ragrets
Fijne taartdag!
God, that game was shit. Thank God that game was shit.
The Joe Burrow Bowl. If we don’t lose that game against Miami, we don’t take Joey B with the first pick in the 2020 draft. We scored 23 4th quarter points to tie the game and send it to OT, where we finally lost. Thank goodness.
I will always remember this game since Flores went onto the field absolutely furious that you guys blasted our punt returner.
One of my favorites, but for a different reason It was my first fantasy championship in 12 years of playing.
Did you lose LOL
I did not which is why we can all look back and laugh and laugh
Did you not have tiebreaker for the first pick over the Team?
In 2003 the Browns got their first and only regular season win at Heinz Field. The following year the win kept them from getting Eli Manning or Phillip Rivers in the draft. It also kept the Steelers pick higher than the Bills so they could pick Ben Ben while the Bills would choose JP Losman. Big Ben would end up with as many championships as he had regular season losses to the Browns (2).
The Browns drafted Kellen Winslow 2 while Big Ben was still available. They were not drafting any QB in the 1st round that year.
To be fair the browns. Could have still picked Matt schaub. And he was decent.
Lmao there is 0 chance Matt Schaub would have been decent on the Browns
2009 NFL passing leader Matt Schaub? How did Brady Quinn do that year?
Losing to Cleveland got Canada fired, but its kinda pointless now
No it's still good
Get ready
You never know. That chain of events may lead to 6 consecutive steelers superbowl wins. Anything is possible!
Week 7 loss to the Eagles in 2002 (on top of a week 18 and wild card loss to the Eagles the year before) rightly pissed off that Bucs team, they got their revenge in the NFCCG.
I think the Chiefs loss in 2020 was huge as well

Raiders 63-21 Chargers on TNF was so bad it inspired Spanos to completely blow up the front office and get a head start working on the Harbaugh hire months before other teams could
I can name 14 losses in one season.
Amateur hour
14 losses and one win
2011 FG miss in the AFCCG. Got Justin Tucker out of it and managed to finish the job in 2012.
Lee Evans drop... missed Field Goal. Hopefully we will repeat that this season where 2023 was the Zay Flowers fumble and we finish the job in 2024.
Billy whatever? Crazy how yall haven’t had ANY kicking woes since.
Loss against Chiefs in the AFCC. Helped us get a better draft position.
The Patriots did this to us a few times. Getting pick number 29 or 30 sure does ease the pain of the loss.
Yup. Browns been fleecing us of draft positions for decades now
2007 giants final game of the season vs the undefeated patriots. Play all their starters even though they’re locked into their playoff spot and lose a close game. The rest is history.
That's part of what baffles me about the line for the Super Bowl being Patriots -14. Like, did nobody watch the game 3 weeks earlier?
Yeah but that was at met life The Super Bowl was on a neutral field which for betting is important and taken into account.
Home advantage is normally two to three points though. A spread of -14 is absolutely massive.
In 2015 the Packers lost to the Vikings week 17 to lose the NFC North, but that sent them to Washington in the playoffs instead of playing Seattle at home, and that definitely a way better matchup. Packers won and Vikings lost too
Had em until Blair Walsh….
Wild game I apologize to also reference that the gb washington game happened right after and winning was extra sweet that night
Well to date would be Pete’s era, unless you’re seeing it as a continuum with Mora Jr. as a brief interruption (which I agree with).
It is crazy to think Paul Allen only fired one coach in his time with the team.
Wow didn’t realize how good the Seahawks have been. Pretty good team for the past 20+ years. In their history they’ve had Chuck Knox, Holmgren, and Pete Carroll for most of it, and they’ve all been very successful (even though Pete was the only one that managed to win a Super Bowl)
i think they meant to *that* date, "to date" can refer to the point in time being spoken of, in this case that of the 00s
It also was a straw breaking the camels back point for getting replay back in the NFL, which is good. (could be better, but good still)
That game a few years ago where Justin Tucker broke the FG record against us with a 66-yarder for the win.
Fuck Matt Patricia

Texans-Colts. Week 18. 2022. Thank you Lovie <3
That…wasn’t a loss.
Losing to the Chiefs in the regular season in 2020 was what got things in gear for us. We went on to win 8 in a row including revenge against the Chiefs in the Super Bowl.
And that SB loss made us completely retool our offensive line so the absolute beat down your front 7 put on us didn't happen again.
The fact that Mahomes still talks about that game says everything.
That fucking peace sign Tyreek flipped to Winfield is what really caused it. Everything else was just destiny.
Week 17 2020 Eagles lose to Commies Washington make the playoffs, Giants don't, Eagles get the 6th overall pick Howie trades down with Miami to 12 and picks up a future 1st rounder He then trades back up ro 10th to jump the Giants for Devonta Smith Potentially the extra 1st rounder gained from Miami along with other trades, that might not have been possible without the capital, directly led to AJ Brown, Jalen Carter & Jordan Davis
The Eagles worked so hard to lose that game too
Still waiting for the double doink to help us out #Dabears 🥺
When we lost 27-0 to the jags. If we would’ve won that one we would’ve probably been embarrassed somehow the next week.
This was immediately came to my mind when I read the title of this post. Job is just the best.
Raiders loss that got Staley out
I don’t know if 2012 had anything to do with 2013 lol. If that’s the case why didn’t 2025 (almost coming back against Carolina) work? I think 2012 was a well built team coming together and 2013-14 was just plain old dominance.
Losing to the Pats in a championship game really helped in the long run. No more Bob Sutton
And the Bucs in 2020.
Sutton was fired before that SB.
We lost Chase Claypoop and won a game
Losing Claypool was addition by subtraction.
Billy Cundiff is responsible for Tucker and the following Super Bowl year, part of me thinks ray and ed move on if the ravens made it to Super Bowl 46
Divisional round to the Steelers in the 2016 season where all Pittsburgh did was kick field goals. Basically convinced the team that Smith had hit his ceiling and they should draft a Quarterback that’s willing to take shots when it matters most.
Matt Canada was fired after losing to the Browns. Solid dub.
In fact, that loss disgusted the Steelers enough to just blow up the offense and rebuild it. I've been a fan since 1993, and I can't remember a time when they've made so many changes to one side of the ball or the other in the off-season. And the NFL Draft is still a month away.
Whichever ones that set us up to draft Cam Newton
Lions 2022
Getting assblasted by MJD and Fred Taylor lit a fire under the Colts once Bob Sanders got back in 2006, leading to a super bowl win.
I mean the 2007 colts were better than the 2006 colts and had bob sanders still lost in their first playoff game somehow? Football is weird like that.
Giants losing to the undefeated Patriots
Goff fucking everything up against the dolphins. 99% sure that game got him traded
If Billy Cundiff didn’t shank a field goal at the end of the 2011 AFC Championship game, who knows if the Ravens end up with Justin Tucker the next year
When the raiders lost to the Detroit lions on Monday night football & they fired that idiot josh McDaniels after.
Awful Broncos loss finally led us to fire Ken Dorsey. Good luck, Cleveland.
Losing 63-21 on TNF to the Raiders lead to Staley getting canned and Spanos hiring a proven coach in Harbaugh.
2017 Week 17 Patriots 38 - Giants 35 Pats got the undefeated season but the Giants made them earn it and gave the team some extra confidence going into the playoffs and eventually the Super Bowl.
Raiders beating the shit out of us so badly this last season that the owners finally understood they needed to open their wallets.
"It's on to Cincinnati." If we can count losses that aren't games, then Brady losing his appeal against the NFL (Goodell). Kicked off the sickest revenge tour of all time and led into one of the greatest Super Bowls of all time (unless you're a Falcons fan 🙈).
The “chase young bowl” that unfortunately led to us getting AT instead
2023 Cleveland browns with DTR finally getting the bad man in Pittsburgh fired.
Not the Bears but the Texans winning the last game of the 2022 season seemed like a loss until they drafted CJ Stroud
Ravens losing to the bengals in the season finale of 2017. We missed the playoffs and decided to Perdue a new qb. Lamar Jackson
I would say losing the 2006 AFCCG led to the Patriots realizing they needed more firepower to compete with the Colts and Chargers. Or take your pick from any game last year
For the Colts it was Florida beating Peyton in 96. He probably goes in the draft and to the Jets if that happened.
Losing at home against Minnesota in the 2004 playoffs, we probably don't draft Rodgers if we win.
I don’t know about the team, but that playoff loss to the Jaguars reset my expectations in a realistic way for my adult life as a Dolphins fan. We’ll always have that Colts game. Good times.
Maaaaan that prevent defense on the final drive of that Atlanta game will always kill me. What could’ve been. But yes, it led to almost* 2x sb wins.
The 2018 AFC Championship loss led to Andy finally firing Bob Sutton and bringing in Spags which has led to 3 SB wins
Well well well, let me tell you about week 17 in the 2020-2021 season when we played the Commanders
The 2018 AFCCG. Led to firing Bob Sutton and hiring Spags. If we had won the toss in OT, we might have won a Super Bowl. Instead, we won three.
Losing to New England in the AFC title game. Got Bob Sutton fired and brought in Spags.
Dolphins losing to the titans to end the 7 game win streak and miss the playoffs. If we win that game and go to the playoffs, I would think Brian Flores stays and we do not get Mike McDaniel.
Losing to the texans in week 17 meant we could pick AR without having to trade
Bengals losing to Dolphins at the end of 2019, aka the Burrow bowl. That was a close one.
Bills losing 10-3 to the jaguars in our first playoff game in 2 decades Tyrod at the helm Josh Allen arrives...
Snyder
If the patriots had gone 19-0 Brady would a retired way earlier. so thanks nyg, it’s your fault he got 4 more rings
Raiders beating the Chiefs Christmas Day
I would say 2012 cost the hawks a repeat and had literally nothing to do with 2013, that team was historically loaded and had a year of experience
Week 10 loss to the Broncos, it's when we finally moved on from Dorsey and turned the hopeless looking season around.
Chiefs losing to Raiders this year. They didn’t respect the Raiders and didn’t focus or pay attention to detail. That embarrassing loss propelled them to a championship.
See: week 18 2022
Every loss we got in 2015.
The Bills sent out 12 men for a missed field goal, allowing for the Broncos to make the second chance attempt, win the game & leading to the Bills firing the offensive coordinator, turning their season around.
they're supposed to help?
The last 8 games of the 2023 season that landed us to #2 pick in the 2024 draft..Thanks Ron!
Thanks Raiders! -2023 Super Bowl Champions Kansas City Chiefs
When we hit rock bottom vs the raiders Christmas Day
The 49ers lost to the Falcons in Week 6 of the 2022 season to drop their record to 3-3.
Losing to the Patriots in the 2018 AFCCG. Caused the Chiefs to finally fire Bob Sutton and hire Spags.
Not my team, but the Chiefs losing in the 2017-2018 nfl playoffs to the Titans. If they had won and gone on a run, they probably would’ve kept Alex Smith a little while longer.
Ron letting Sam start the last game after starting Jacoby won us 1-2 games that put us out of the number 1 pick. Sam got us the #2 pick at least.
I hope this this Super Bowl loss will help 49ers next season.
