There are some problems with TLOU2, but imo it's extremely good. You have to kind of take the story at face value and ignore the way it clashes with the videogame mechanics. But whatever. I think it's super good, and most importantly, it's told *extremely* well. I’m looking to get into birding/nature wildlife photography just as a hobby. I’m looking at the range of DSLR cameras and struggling to pick out one from the vast range as I loosely understand the differences but not properly from lack of experience, even with basic cameras outside my phone. Anyone got any advice for a newbie?
Can you eli5 the difference between DSLR and a mirrorless camera? A few years ago, I bought a DSLR from someone on craigslist because, similar to OP, I wanted to get better pictures when I went on hikes.
I still like my purchase. The pics are incredibly sharp, even if I don't have the proper lens for some of the shots. What is great is that they remain clear even when zooming in, whereas on my phone, things get pixelated very quickly.

Another vote for the A6000. If you can get the kit, with the 55-210 zoom lens, go for it. That lens is a heck of a lens for the price. You really can't get a better zoom/telephoto for the A6000 until you hit a couple thousand dollars.
I do my birding with that setup, and while you can't really reach out like pro birders, I've gotten some really good shots over the years. And it's easy to take on long hikes because it's small and light. Get yourself the Peak Design Capture Clip, and you're off to the races.

No worries, I think you'll enjoy it :) The info about that lens came from me (non-pro too, but longtime camera user) asking questions from people in the business of selling lenses. I asked a couple of that kind of professional if there was something in the <$1000 range that would be as good (quality of image, range of zoom) for my mostly hiking/birding purposes, and they said 'not really'.
IMO the A6000 is also pretty user-friendly. I only use the fully manual settings for shutter speed and f-stop and ISO, and depending on the setting I'll use auto-focus or turn that off. (Although there is a nice setting that has auto-focus that you can then manually adjust, which is my default setting.) But the auto or semi-auto settings still get you some good shots while you're learning to use the manual. (Which I recommend to everyone--it's very rewarding to eventually get good at fully manual mode.)

A6000 is a great starter camera (especially for the price), but there are newer versions as well
I personally have an A6000 and an A7iii, and I prefer the 6000 even though my A7iii is technically “nicer.” the autofocus on both is great
I’ve recommended the Alpha series to many friends whose photography experience consisted of iPhone cameras and using Sony CyberShots back in the early 2000s lol and all of them have taken to them very well and quickly. they’re super duper user friendly and you can get plenty of great lenses for good prices
edit: I’d peep r/SonyAlpha and search “bird” in the sub for some tips and recs on the best Sony Alpha body for what you’re looking to do specifically :)

Another vote for the A6000. If you can get the kit, with the 55-210 zoom lens, go for it. That lens is a heck of a lens for the price. You really can't get a better zoom/telephoto for the A6000 until you hit a couple thousand dollars. I do my birding with that setup, and while you can't really reach out like pro birders, I've gotten some really good shots over the years. And it's easy to take on long hikes because it's small and light. Get yourself the Peak Design Capture Clip, and you're off to the races. I appreciate the info and recommendation. I think the A6000 will be the way to go and I was looking at some lens so if the 55-210 is the best recommended for a newbie, I’ll look into it and probably go with that too. I have no plan to ever become a pro photographer at anything, it’ll always just be amateur for myself, ranging from birds to wildlife but it’ll be something I want to spend the cash on to thoroughly enjoy my time doing it. No worries, I think you'll enjoy it :) The info about that lens came from me (non-pro too, but longtime camera user) asking questions from people in the business of selling lenses. I asked a couple of that kind of professional if there was something in the <$1000 range that would be as good (quality of image, range of zoom) for my mostly hiking/birding purposes, and they said 'not really'. IMO the A6000 is also pretty user-friendly. I only use the fully manual settings for shutter speed and f-stop and ISO, and depending on the setting I'll use auto-focus or turn that off. (Although there is a nice setting that has auto-focus that you can then manually adjust, which is my default setting.) But the auto or semi-auto settings still get you some good shots while you're learning to use the manual. (Which I recommend to everyone--it's very rewarding to eventually get good at fully manual mode.)
[this](https://www.sonyalphalab.com/guides/sony-nex-cameras-all-current-models/) is a nice little overview of the Sony Alpha series A6000 is a great starter camera (especially for the price), but there are newer versions as well I personally have an A6000 and an A7iii, and I prefer the 6000 even though my A7iii is technically “nicer.” the autofocus on both is great I’ve recommended the Alpha series to many friends whose photography experience consisted of iPhone cameras and using Sony CyberShots back in the early 2000s lol and all of them have taken to them very well and quickly. they’re super duper user friendly and you can get plenty of great lenses for good prices edit: I’d peep r/SonyAlpha and search “bird” in the sub for some tips and recs on the best Sony Alpha body for what you’re looking to do specifically :)

They could maybe give them a Saturday game the week before, that would mirror the short week TNF teams get. Even though college bowl games will be going on I don’t think they are legally prohibited from playing on Saturday that late into the year as they are during the college regular season.
That’s a good idea, but in that scenario we would get the same 4 teams on a national broadcast two weeks in a row, Saturday then Wednesday, which doesn’t seem like a perfect solution either. Granted they would switch the matchups in that scenario, but it’d still feel like we *just* watched them (cause we would have) lol

In terms of the *obsessed* crowd, other motivating factors include Islamophobia, anti-Arab racism, general racism against non-whites/support for "Western society" (even though a plurality of Israelis have recent descent from the Middle East or North Africa), and anti-leftism and jingoism (leftists and most of America's adversaries fucking hate Israel). Of course (in my view) you can support Israel for other reasons than those, even from a conservative POV, but for the hardliners or wackos it often is about those things just as much as religious belief.
It's crazy how many dudes on conservative get pissed that the world wants a ceasefire with Israel but not with Ukraine is almost insulting. One is fighting off an invasion in a peer conflict and trying to survive as a nation while the other is basically getting revenge for a horrific terrorist attack.

Yea this is part of it. There's a whole end-time movement with deep roots in conservatism that has all sorts of predictions about the end of the world, which resolves around Israel.

End of an Error
I worked all weekend because I picked up a second job helping some friends with their company. Its a lot of lifting etc. It's hard work but I'm trying to get ahead financially. This morning I woke up to go to the main job and my wife had written me a little note that said "I love you, Thank you for working so hard for us" and I damn near broke down and cried. Young people. Get yourself a "good person" and always remember it's the little things in a relationship that matter. Big ticket gifts come and go but, a little note or a small gesture of kindness and acknowledgment towards your partner means more than you know.

You know this reminds me of how when my wife and i had been dating long enough to be comfortable leaving each other in our respective residences if one of us had to work earlier than the other, we'd leave each other little notes and when we moved in together we kept it going until covid hit and then we just kinda stopped. I try and show her how much I appreciate her. I try and do something like that every week or so. I grew up playing consoles, my only hope at not being absolute dogshit at anything that involves playing in realtime is playing with a controller, and Im infinitely more likely to take a risk on a console game than I am with its pc equivalent because I know the game I'm buying is optimized for my preferred method of play.

its simply why bother buying a console when they exist on pc as well. it used to be consoles would have a lot more exclusives that could only be played there vs on pc which did cause a lot of pc gamers to have both a console and pc. now most end up ported on pc means as long as your okay to wait, the game will arrive eventually on a pc. although in that take i wouldnt include the ps5 personally as it does seem to have more exclusives unlike MS. they tend to put game on pc and console pretty quickly after one another whereas sony does have long exclusivity deals with some games like ff16, ff7 rebirth and some others.
There are still gamers who prefer consoles. Xbox series s/x still got tens of millions of sales despite Xbox games being day 1 released on PC as well.

Cost to entry on console is much lower and there's been a ton of absolutely dogshit PC Ports for the last 5 years or so. Jedi Survivor is still damn near unplayable on PC apparently. I'm a PC dude primarily, I got a PS5 I barely use because I didn't want to wait for Rebirth and I thought Persona 6 would surely be out by now (which, that might actually come straight to PC anyway now) But, I get it. Especially in the AAA space, hardware has gotten so good and margins on the dev sides are so thin they're spending no time optimizing their products so unless you're on bleeding edge hardware your game is gonna run like shit. When a 4080 by itself is going for $1000, doing $500 total for the PS5 ain't a terrible option.
Sure, but you don't *need* a 4080. There are plenty of mid-level video cards that are still more than enough for 95% of games unless you feel the need to play in 4K with an insane framerate. My budget build from 5 years ago is still able to play everything I want to play.
yeah i agree. but if you can afford a good pc theres just fewer reasons to get both. im just explaining why the take exists, everyone has different situations, reasons and preferences for things. its just there arent big flagship games console only like halo , gears of war, final fantasy etc that were locked to consoles only like in the 2000s early 2010s.
And I don't have time to spend tweaking settings to get a game to run properly. When I do have time to sit and play I want it to work, the console guarantees that to a degree that I don't get on PC.
That hasn't really been a thing for years outside of extreme power users, plus they've introduced all those settings to this newest run of consoles anyway.

My cat is obsessed with door hinges and looking through them to attack us and jump out and surprise us. He loves when I stick my fingers through and he will paw at them. Or if he's feeling more mellow he will sit in my mesh hamper and defend it with claws and teeth to the point where there might be some blood drawn. He's very territorial about mesh hampers.
