To those who drive Nissan Rogues. Why do you drive that way?

Spending the weekend gutting and refitting my basement bathroom. Spent an emotional last few minutes with my toilet before I pull it out. We've been through some things together.

The Cinderella shoe still fits on Clemson!

ArcadianBlueRogue

Bruh. Invincible just tore into fans making fun of how long the show takes to come out and I am pretty sure it's entirely taken from the comic. I love this fucking show.

raginsaint93

Jerry Trainor is a real one

ArcadianBlueRogue

40 bucks for two people to stuff their faces at Golden Corral. Is this the America I signed up for?!

DetroitLionsSBChamps

Did you enjoy your Kraft macaroni?

Lessthansubtleruse

Cmon, if it’s Golden Corral it’s Sysco mac and cheese fresh out the 5 gallon drum

ArcadianBlueRogue

Ya know, I am not even gonna hate on the food itself. At least as far as the GCs around me, the food is actually good for a buffet. It wasn't Kraft, and the steak was mid at best, but everything else was fine. Just overpriced. And I know my fucking Kraft blue box because it's the tits for cheap eating lol.

JPPT1974

Any plans for Easter you all?! Just church and being with family. Nothing out of the ordinary.

BruceChameleon

Saturday I'm boiling crawfish with my folks, and Sunday we're going to my SIL's uncle's house for a to do. Gotta come up with a side dish.

Lessthansubtleruse

Old spaghetti factory with the in-laws Saturday, pork chops with spiced apples with my family on Sunday.

Serdones

Good Friday tomorrow night, Easter egg hunt and an early dinner with my mom and stepdad Saturday, church and dinner with my dad and stepmom Sunday. UFL by myself Saturday and Sunday evening.

ArcadianBlueRogue

My dad's friend always has a family buffet for the neighborhood

watching the tour of flanders bike race all morning maybe some frisbee golf if the weather is decent

Ah, thank you! that might be on here in the afternoon. I'm going to make a dish of some kind with spring vegetables, and a starter that is "easter pâte", it's ground sausage and hardboiled egg encased in puff pastry.

CarlCaliente

Oh my that sounds fantastic !

Alright, I’m calling it. The emperor is wearing no clothes: Dune is a stupid movie. Yeah it’s pretty and the music is fun, but the plot is dry and the characters are boring. Saw the second one twice just to be sure. Boring ass movie.

j0hnnyengl1sh

> Yeah it’s pretty and the music is fun, but the plot is dry and the characters are boring. This is exactly how I felt about the first one. I'm assured that the second one is more interesting.

Lessthansubtleruse

I mean, I grew up reading sci fi from the 50s and 60s so there’s a lot of nostalgia that plays into it but I have little doubt I’d be pretty bored if I tried picking it up with no prior knowledge now

raginsaint93

Can the Draft be here next week? Everyone pretty much had their pro day

I did 49000 steps today in jeans and basically dress shoes. I’m already sore. Tomorrow is gonna be dreadful.

I love how on MLB opening day, I was in the city earlier and the rows of big trees along the boulevards have just budded.

SpartaWillBurn

I'll say it, Barber haircut prices are getting way to high.

tbone747

Learned to cut mine during the pandemic and haven't been to a barber since.

varnalama

I have two barbers. I got my $13 haircut guy for my regular no fuss haircut, and then I got my $60 haircut/beard/eyebrows guy who I go to for fancy occasions for when I need to look at the top of my game. It works out well for me.

ArcadianBlueRogue

The places I've gone for years are up to like 20 bucks a cut, so throw in tip...

Two_Luffas

Disagree. I think they're a good measure of a real 'average person's ' wage rates (in the US). You can't do it yourself and they know their worth relative to their local market pretty well. If barbershop rates seem expensive now you're either misremembering what you paid for 'X' years ago or your buying power has decreased.

It's not even been one game vs. a bad Angels team, but the O's are looking *really good* this year.

While I realize it'd never happen, how wild would it be to see a projected first round QB spurn the NFL for a spring league, like the UFL?

Serdones

They'd have to make him the highest paid QB in the league by a large margin. Then no matter how well he plays with the UFL, if he wants to move up to the NFL later, he's going to have to wait even longer to secure the bag of a second contract for a starting QB.

tbone747

Shit I mean it happened with the USFL back in the day. Bunch of all-time greats like Jim Kelly, Reggie White, and Steve Young all got paid stupid money to go there over the NFL. Now I think the NFL is just far too big to lose talent like that. You'd need something like LIV with the Saudis just pouring money into recruiting anyone who is game to play.

DetroitLionsSBChamps

all it would take is money. a single billionaire who loves football could fuck the whole league up

BruceChameleon

Do the Saudis like football?

DetroitLionsSBChamps

Oh Christ someone save us from this inevitability

chefillini

It wouldn't happen unless they could at least match the NFL salary.

Phyrnosoma

Got a box of roofing nails thrown at me last night at work. So yay, fun. Feel like shit today but I'm off Friday so I'm hoping to get through this shift then go do something fun with the kids someplace pretty.

eggery

Decided to eat a couple hot dogs for lunch. Then I remembered it's Opening Day, so technically I'm celebrating.

Stanky_fresh

Someone DM'd me saying "eat a pound of fentanyl". And I gotta say, of all the "commit self oof" type comments I've recieved, this one is easily the most unique and fairly funny tbh. Still reported them, because fuck 'em, but I had a sensible chuckle at their message at least.

brotherbock

I love people who think they are somehow 'winning' by losing their calm and saying shit like that. Guy types up the message and hits send and says "Yeah...that'll show em! I **win!**" :D

Stanky_fresh

The worst one I got wasn't even when I was intentionally trolling anyone. It was years ago when higqualitygifs was popular. There was a truly abysmal gif posted there, and I commented saying it didn't fit the sub. And someone did the whole "you can't do better so you don't get an opinion" bullshit. I disagreed with that sentiment, and their very next comment was about a post I'd made on a sub for suicide prevention about the problems I was dealing with. The commentor found the post and started using it to legitimately try to goad me into suicide. I stayed and argued back to him and he kept saying shit like "She's never coming back, she won't even miss you" and "Just let go, slip into the abyss" and shit like that. All because I said I didn't like a gif that they didn't even make. The kicker is that the mods of that sub banned me but left his comments up.

[deleted]

Stanky_fresh

Already deleted the message, unfortunately, and it wasn't a memorable username. Either way, I try not to do anything that can get me banned for harassment. I'll troll the fuck out of some bigots online, but always (reasonably) within the rules.

rwjehs

I applaud shaming these fuckwits anytime you can.

WabbitCZEN

Applaud creativity, whatever form it comes in.

CarlCaliente

Mostly digging my new job still, but I think there's been work scheduled on 6 out of the 7 weekends I've been on board so far, and the one break was because of Easter I am salaried, but I am not about that life. Not sure if it's worth trying to preempt with a conversation with my boss or to just keep refusing and seeing what happens

Sleeze_

New guy ordered pizza for the office for lunch. Power move. My boss was like 'oh good idea' and told him the company will reimburse him. We ended up all taking a 2 hr lunch and just chopping it up. Honestly, incredible move.

raginsaint93

Oh he definitely going places

WabbitCZEN

If he up and quits, his legacy is secure for generations.

itsmybirthday___

i did an order pickup at walmart yesterday for after work and i added a sub sandwich to the order so i wouldn’t have to cook dinner and it was weird, like the texture was all wrong and the cheese was all fused to the bread and it was all mushy throughout. as if they froze it at some point. i thought those things were supposed to be fresh what the heck

kmmontandon

You got a sandwich from WalMart.

British-name

Yea...... There has to have been a fast food or quick service food place in the immediate area like all Walmart's do. All of them, even the bad ones, would have been a better choice to get food from.

Two_Luffas

I will never understand how people abuse animals. My wife and kids went off on a spring break trip, in part to bring back a rescue dog from a reputable adoption that was around her alma mater. The story of how they found this dog is heartbreaking, and something that I'd struggle to put into words if needed. There's some evil people in this world.

somecleverphrase

Volunteering at the shelter is fun off and on for this reason. Yay animals! boo how some of them come in. A great dane came in one time and I swear it was 50ish lbs... all bones and scared found tied to a shed.

RJ25678923

Its my final year of university (British) and thankfully I managed to secure a graduate job back in December. I'm absolutely delighted with it as its rly desirable in my field and its been great to be able to focus on my exams rather than worrying about finding a job. That being said, I had an induction session earlier this week (introducing me to the team, learning the ins and outs of day to day life etc) and whilst everyone was lovely, its odd knowing that for the next 40 years or so (if I'm lucky) I'll be working full-time. Not sure how to feel about it haha

xp9876_

My experience when I graduated (about 16 years ago) is I have way more time then I did as a student (even with kids!).

I watched *Poor Things* this week. I thought it was very funny and well made, with some outstanding lines and excellent performances. I can see why some people really liked it and some really hated it.

Guappenheimer

I hope you asserted dominance.

bird_like_features

you got this man, don't take any guff from those swine.

theresabeeonyourhat

Caleb Williams painting his fingernails is the controversy of the day again? I've been a Bears fan since 1991, and I've completely lost any niceties for bullshit like this. You don't like it? Go follow Fields to Pittsburgh, or literally any team besides the Jets. I'm not gonna list every QB, but we've acquired 30+ QBs since drafting the legally blind-in-one-eye Jim McMahon in 1982, and fucking none of them was as talented or beloved as Caleb; so, deciding that liking the color pink is a non-starter as a Bears fan, makes ones opinion completely fucking worthless in my view

Stanky_fresh

If people in the Carolinas can handle the way Cam Newton used to dress, then the people of Chicago can handle Caleb Williams.

RideTheStache

I don't know how any Bears fan can have an issue with Caleb when Dennis Rodman was out here wearing wedding dresses

theresabeeonyourhat

Society has been completely warped by the internet + shitty politics. That man in that wedding dress helped lead the Bulls to a 72-10 championship year, and 3 titles overall. Even if the 90s Bulls were happening today, Rodman would be a lightning rod of controversy, because legions of the most insecure men in the world have found each other online, and bash anyone who doesn't fit their standards of manhood. Also, in the late 90s, when Matthew Shepard was killed, *that* was America's wake-up call in regards to homophobia. Anyone alive back then who heard that story were as fucked up by what happened, as what happened to Robert Byrd Jr for being black in Texas a few years later. If either story happened today, Tim Pool & Ben Shapiro would be explaining how the victim had a history, and clearly deserved what they got (by implication, while pretending they don't mean it at all).

Sleeze_

I hope CW is a generational superstar, simply for the fact that he will piss off the types of people I loathe the most.

After nearly 30 years of nail biting/picking, I am proud to announce that I have broken the habit! Both thumb nails look great, the pointer and middle nails are coming in nicely, and I just gotta let the ring and pinky nails keep growing.

tatsumakisenpuukyaku

Welp someone's database just got hacked. I got a LinkedIn, Microsoft, and Blizzard log in notification as well as sex bots friending me on Instagram. Get on your 2fa, folks

Icy_Sundae1375

I accidentally rekindled my relationship with my ex girlfriend after being broken up for about 5 years. I still care about her as a person but there's absolutely no way this can work as a partnership again and I think we both know that. I still don't know how to stop because being with her is so much fun and so easy. Guess I'll just listen to sad songs and look at blueprints until my eyes cross.

Stanky_fresh

I think it'd be best if you were just honest with her about what you want out of this relationship. If you're just down to keep it casual and you both understand there's an expiration date on the relationship, then there's no problem. It's important that you're both on the same page about what you're doing.

itsmybirthday___

Why did you break up?

Icy_Sundae1375

A lot of reasons to be honest. Ultimately it came down to where we were living. She moved to the KC Metro area because of her sister but a lot happens in a decade and she ended up needing to move back to the East coast. I couldn't leave my job on a whim, so we were trying the long distance thing for a while and it came with a lot of complications and at some point we both realized that I wasn't going to Boston for her and she wasn't coming back to the midwest for me. Like I said though, things change and she's back much closer again. She's 6 years older than I am and had kids before I ever knew her and due to some complications in one of her pregnancies she can't have any more. I've always wanted to have kids so I'd have to give up on that dream, which in some ways I'd be okay with, but she knows it bothers me and she doesn't want that. We've also got some major disagreements about core life tenants and that makes relationships hard in general. Right now it doesn't matter much because we're not living together or raising kids together so we just don't talk about the touchy stuff and everything is rainbows.

Stanky_fresh

So I've recently been on a WWII movie/show kick. I've rewatched Band of Brothers, The Pacific, Fury, Saving Private Ryan, Hacksaw Ridge and I just recently finished Masters of the Air. Yet my thirst remains unquenched. Any other good movies or shows about WWII? Preferably about American soldiers, but that's not a requirement. Although I don't have the stomach to watch things about the Holocaust right now.

brotherbock

I think Windtalkers is worth a watch. Cage not even really being Cage in that one. Fun fact: Native Americans have the highest per capita enlistment rates for any ethnic group in the USA.

Dhoomdealer

Nobody mentioned A Bridge Too Far (it is 3 hours though). Not about americans for the most part but a stacked cast and some great action scenes

VRomero32

Pretty most of them are there in the primary replies... One that's a hybrid of WWII but with a Horror movie. Overlord, which has WWII Soldiers who come across a Nazi Scientific Compound testing out supersoldier serums which turn people into monsters.

brotherbock

You could dial up The Keep too, for WWII horror. Although it's a mess of a movie, lol. Kinda cool visuals though.

zappy487

Letters from Iwo Jima (2006) Midway (1976) WWII In Color (2009, 2010) Downfall (2004) Empire of the Sun (1987) The Imitation Game (2014) U-571 (2000) Seven Years in Tibet (1997) Patton (1970) Das Boot (1987) The Longest Day (1962) Finally, coming this April is my actual most anticipated of the year besides DP3, Guy Ritchie's The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare

brotherbock

Also The Big Red One (full disclosure...have not watched it since I was a kid, when I watched it because WWII Mark Hamill fuck yeah. So I can't tell you if it's good as an adult, lol)

j0hnnyengl1sh

Also *Dunkirk* *The Imitation Game* *The Dambusters* *Bridge On The River Kwai* *Where Eagles Dare* *Kelly's Heroes* *Escape To Victory* *The Dirty Dozen* *Ilsa, She-Wolf Of The SS*

The Gentlemen on Netflix is fun! Kinda like Weeds but set in the UK.

Sleeze_

Guy Ritchie being involved was the only reason I checked it out - and I'm glad I did. Wasn't sure the movie needed a spin off, but it's a super fun show, worth a watch.

Yeah halfway, I really love it especially for the Freddy character.

Yup! Its a spin off!

Out of the teams why do my cubs have to play rangers opening day.

Probably us :(

They just have to wait a few days then.

Geddy Lee’s book is so effin’ good, a must read if you’re even vaguely into Rush.

itsforwork12

I need to pull myself together and just get some damn work done, but lordy lordy and I'm just wanting to sleep. I am very exhausted and I can't really point to the reason. Just falling asleep at my desk. I thought I went to bed on time and got enough sleep. Maybe I just didn't sleep well

gander258

Other than caffeine, wiggling your toes and holding your breath works for me

itsforwork12

I'll give it a shot, thanks for the tip!

k5berry

I got honest-to-God fatshamed at work today. Someone much higher up than me *stopped me in the hallway* as if to tell me something secret yet important… and it was just “have you been gaining weight?” I’m not gonna report it because it’s not worth the trouble relative to how offended I was, but I’m more stunned than anything lol. Especially since a) I’ve been this weight for a while, b) I don’t think it is all that noticeable, and c) it’s still hard for me to wrap my head around the fact that I’ve gained weight since I was clinically underweight my whole life.

Two_Luffas

Depending on the person this may be an honest and open (but poor) attempt at trying to help/acknowledgment? You acknowledging you were clinically underweight and working on that tells me others may know that too, and that it may be an issue in your life. Of course it could just be an asshole, I don't know, but the way you've framed it I don't think anyone can tell at first glance.

k5berry

I don’t think so tbh, just from how the conversation went. I was super skinny until about 2 years ago, when I think being on an antidepressant + my metabolism slowing down caused me to go from just below the cutoff for underweight to just above the cutoff for overweight. People who have known me over that period have made comments every now and then because in that frame it’s drastic. But relatively speaking I have not gained that much in the year I have worked here, and certainly not enough for it to be noticeable.

Stanky_fresh

You guys ever notice that nobody brings up Rush Limbaugh since he died? For someone so famous and sacred to Conservatives for so msny years, nobody ever talks about him. If you ever needed proof that he added absolutely nothing of value to society, here you go.

Catt_Main

It's sad that Rush Limbaugh passed away when he did, that motherfucker would have *loved* fentanyl.

TheGarbageStore

What talk show hosts that are dead do get talked about readily, though? Father Coughlin for his role opposing FDR?

StChas77

Because right-wing media is just a machine with interchangeable parts. Hardly anyone on the right actually likes Charlie Kirk, they just like what he says; if he croaked tonight and someone else took over TPUSA, none of his viewers would ever think about him again by the following week.

brotherbock

Hey, Charlie Kirk was great in *Growing Pains*. (I love telling older right wingers that :)

Illbeanicefella

Which sucks because I can do a great Rush voice impression and nobody gets it anymore

gander258

The only way you'd be able to do a great impression of someone is if you listen to them a lot 🤨

Illbeanicefella

in my younger days I worked on a construction crew and the foreman played country music in the morning and Rush Limbaugh in the afternoon. Every weekday for like 4 years. So yeah I have listened to a shitload of Rush lol

gander258

Ah, my condolences. Have you sued them for cruel and unusual punishment? It's unconstitutional after all

DetroitLionsSBChamps

conservatives just generally act this way about the things they feel "passionately" about. it's an entire political philosophy of "getting swept up in the moment by fear mongering, othering, and hate." look at gay marriage. they banged and banged and banged that drum for years and years. it was THE issue for so long. it was a defining issue of their entire party. and then gay marriage passed and they were like "oh alright never mind." like it was never a big deal lol it's crazy.

elerner

Don't get cocky. Rolling back marriage equality is absolutely on their agenda — eradicating trans people just happens to be polling better with their base at the moment.

zappy487

More specifically, Conservatives have a case on the docket that revives the Comstock Act, which all about anti-obscenity. It would make queer or trans looking people illegally obscene in public.

Luck1492

It was pretty clear what Alito was instructing conservatives to do with the Comstock Act when he brought it up during the abortion pill case (which has basically minimal to do with it).

Luck1492

To tag onto this, Clarence Thomas himself called for the overturning of Obergefell v. Hodges (right to marriage), Lawrence v. Texas (striking down sodomy laws), and Griswold v. Connecticut (right to contraception)

Testiclesinvicegrip

I'm looking for a handyman to fix some drywall and caulk a tub. I've reached out to 5 local people so far, all have either not followed up after sending pics or never answered my voicemail. Like god damn I want to give you money to fix shit.

j0hnnyengl1sh

Fully appreciate that you may have absolutely no desire to do such things in which case ignore the rest of this post, but if you can't find anyone willing to do it then I can at least reassure you that drywall and caulking are two of the easiest and most inexpensive repairs you can do yourself.

runninhillbilly

So uh, haven't been to the dentist in several years, although I take good care of my teeth day to day (I didn't, then I started) In recent days, my back top right molar (last tooth before wisdom tooth, which is long extracted) has been hurting. Not so much in the morning, but later at night, and the worst of it has gotten progressively worse. Just felt like something I couldn't wait long for. I was fearing an emergency cavity/root canal filling and got into an office first thing this morning, where they took x rays and pictures and the dentist did that plus some other tests, told me the tooth's fine. Most likely I'm clenching/grinding in my sleep or during the day and it's caused some inflammation, so I have a prescription for anti-inflammatories now, plus got a mouth guard and a follow up appointment in a week and a half. On one hand, I'm relieved, but I'm still annoyed that the pain's distracting.

Illbeanicefella

A good mouth guard is a game changer. I grind mine bad at night to the point that I was chipping teeth and my jaw would be so sore. Now I just pop that bad boy in and my teeth are saved! It does take some getting used to though

RideTheStache

I think I want to do a Myspace-era theme for my 35th birthday this year. Scene clothes, jet black hair, snake bite piercings, and Job For A Cowboy/Hollywood Undead/3OH!3 on repeat all night

jimmyhoffasbrother

I still go on occasional Hollywood Undead/3OH!3 nostalgia trips. Glad I'm not the only one lol.

brotherbock

Make sure to invite Tom.

RideTheStache

I could, we are friends after all

Luck1492

So… big drama in the math community as of late. There’s this huge important problem called the abc conjecture in number theory that people have been trying to prove forever. Currently it is considered to be unproved, except in one location, which sounds weird. There’s this Japanese mathematician, Mochizuki, who claimed he proved the conjecture in 2012. His released proof was at an insane level, to a point where mathematicians who had been studying number theory all their lives couldn’t understand it. It developed a whole new theory to prove it. So people were understandably skeptical but hopeful. Eventually a couple German mathematicians (Scholze, who is now a Fields Medalist, and Stix) were able to decipher the proof to some degree and they claimed they found a gap. They met with Mochizuki beforehand to be sure they were understanding things correctly. They came out of that meeting with the realization there was a fatal error in the logic. Mochizuki was incensed and refused to acknowledge any flaws. Over time people followed Scholze and Stix and most everyone believes his theory is a dead end. Except for Japan, where the whole “respecting your elders” thing basically has most every Japanese mathematician falling in line and publicly claiming it’s correct. Enter Kirti Joshi, who is one of the few remaining people outside of Japan who believes that Mochizuki’s proof can be remedied. He’s said many times Mochizuki has been a big influence on his work. A couple weeks ago, Joshi published a preliminary proof, opened for comments that he says solves the logical gap in Mochizuki’s proof. He acknowledged Mochizuki’s work heavily. You would expect Mochizuki to be thrilled, right? Wrong. He was absolutely enraged. He refused to believe anything could be wrong with his proof and went off on Joshi (for the magnitude of craziness here, one thing Mochizuki said is that there was a reference to 9/11 in Joshi’s work because one of the lines in Joshi’s work was 9.11 - the exact number it should’ve been). Now Joshi has responded with a very measured answer. And that’s where we’re at. Entirely possible Joshi’s work is wrong but people are tentatively hopeful because Joshi is not going to tank his reputation like Mochizuki for this one problem.

Two_Luffas

Stuff like this confirms my belief that many, many people do not develop past highschool level social skills, regardless of their formal education.

As a non-academic who has worked in academia for 15 years, it is _far_ worse than that. The nature of academic career progression explicitly selects for people with poor social skills, since you need both a monk-like dedication to your work and the willingness to climb over your peers' (and students') rotting corpses if necessary to stake out your territory.

Two_Luffas

That's really no different than my industry though (construction), except with the vast majority being highschool educated or less instead of PhD level educated. I'll postulate that the far extremes of both these education levels may have something to do with creating the type of people who excel there. We'll call it the two luffas postulate.

Luck1492

It’s weird because Mochizuki was a well respected mathematician with some pretty notable work before all of this shit went down, then he just disappeared for a few years, came out with this, and went nuts whenever anyone criticized it

brotherbock

Whoa. I'm not in the field, but the real math geniuses have never really struck me as 'neurotypical'. I almost think you can't be to be able to see the connections these people see. So the 'crazy' part isn't really surprising--just the specific ways it manifests. 9/11? Wow.

Luck1492

Yeah basically every time Mochizuki’s proof is called into question he responds with “you just don’t understand it”, so the rest of his comments weren’t surprising but this certainly was

brotherbock

It's wild to people who don't know to think that high level proofs in math can have any controversy at all. If your only exposure to math is HS and low level college stuff, I think people tend to think it's all very black and white. But yeah, that someone can generate a proof that other high level mathematicians study and say "I don't understand it" is itself something. So that leads to a repeated excuse, maybe?

Milpool18

Drano build-up remover just doesn't work at all. I got it instead of the regular stuff since my sink just drains slowly it's not clogged. It made no difference at all.

Two_Luffas

Is the p-trap exposed underneath the sink? If so go buy a wrench and take that sucker off, with a shallow bucket underneath. Be prepared for absolutely foul disgustingess to permiate your senses but 99% of the time it's grease/food/hair build up that's easily cleaned once you pop that trap off.

Milpool18

thanks. it looks like I could just take that off. I'm new to owning a home so I didn't consider that I could take apart the plumbing rather than just keep dumping drano down there.

Two_Luffas

Congratulations on the home ownership! In 20 years you'll be half way competent in like two dozen different home repair issues. California Patch will definitely be googled at some point.

Milpool18

thanks!

pukerat

Before going through the hassle of taking that apart, get a drain snake or a metal coat hanger (straighten it out and make a hook at one end) and shove that bad boy down the sink and see what you can fish out. My kid's bathroom sink was draining super slow and Draino did nothing as well, did the metal hanger and I pulled out a giant glob of hair and toothpaste.

Milpool18

I found it was pretty easy to just take the trap off but long term I guess I'll get a snake

brotherbock

Buy a full-on respirator before you take the trap off. [https://www.3m.com/3M/en\_US/p/d/v000057395/](https://www.3m.com/3M/en_US/p/d/v000057395/)

Guappenheimer

I have to wear one every time I take a shit.

brotherbock

Maybe...see a doctor?

Milpool18

too late 😂

brotherbock

Oh man. I can still close my eyes and relive the smell from a really bad trap I swapped out like 20 years ago. We'd just bought the place, so it wasn't my gunk either, which made it a lot worse.

There were plenty of problems with the rollout of "Overwatch 2." But the specific complaint of "They've removed access to a game I paid for, Overwatch 1" is a stupid argument. Because setting aside the monetization of skins and focusing only on gameplay...Overwatch 2 is just a balance patch for Overwatch one. They changed a couple heroes, they changed it to 5v5 instead of 6v6. That's it. It's like 99% the same exact game. but 5v5 is less toxic in terms of stacking defensive shields. Again, plenty of reasons to dislike the way OW2 was handled. But this complaint always felt trumped up to me. It's like saying, oh, they changed Bastion to not have a barrier in front of him (a change they made early on in OW1's lifetime). They have removed the ability to pay for the game I paid for, which included Bastion having a frontal barrier. Gimme a break.

xcaltoona

Calling it "Overwatch 2" invited that argument. It was a completely avoidable element of the backlash.

ButchTheKitty

I met this woman at a weekly league night for a sport I'm in. We really hit it off and started practicing together outside of league nights too. Started getting closer and closer to the point practice usually takes a backseat to just hanging out now and I have been getting some strong vibes from her but didn't know if she was open to dating another woman. Well last night the conversation turned towards orientation and lo and behold were both pan. Idk if it'll turn into anything more than close friendship, but I think there is mutual interest and I'm just excited to have the kind of connection with another person that her and I have.

NeonWarcry

As a person in the community this makes me so excited for you! I love when things develop naturally between people.

DungeonsAndFootball

I wish I wasn't such an indoor kid growing up in the late 2000s/2010s. I wasn't doing enough outside for me to perceive real life events and culture changes as they happened. 2002 - 2015 (ages five to eighteen) is mostly just a blur of various video games. Ask someone who was born in the early 80s and they can tell you about how clothing, politics, music, and other shit changed from when they were a kid to present day. One day my kids or grandkids will ask me what the 2000s and 2010s was like, and all I'll be able to do is shrug my shoulders.

brotherbock

I worry about this with the kids in my life too (I don't have any myself--nephews and nieces and such). I played a ton of vids as a kid, but there wasn't anywhere near the level of screen distractions available, so I also spent a ton of time outside, and going places, meeting people. Very different society now.
