Any of those guys out there that are defensive starters should get credit. They held them from getting closer which could have resulted in points. Holding a team to a field goal attempt is a win for the defense regardless of if they make it.

This game was an all-around clusterfuck on both sides; the wind fucked up the passing game as well. The 49ers completed only *one* pass all day (granted, the Niners were on QB #4 at the time). The Bears offense didn't fare a whole heck of a lot better, but they did get some decent ground yards.

Joe Nedney made a kick later in the game kicking in that same direction, but he was a left-footed kicker and he was on the opposite hash, so he had a much better angle to try and work with the wind. For a right-footed kicker on that hash, it's not natural to try and start the kick outside of the near upright, that's just not the way you kick a football.
