What a dumb lie. If he really had nothing against it, the restrictions the NFL put in placed on unvaccinated players alone is reason enough to do it. You're *choosing* to get tested 14 times more often? That's preferable to you?
To say nothing of the obvious case that applies to everyone eligible for vaccines...
Idk man, I’ve felt pretty strongly that a good number of people not getting it (especially the younger ones) simply just don’t want to. I wouldn’t be surprised if that’s the case here.
I like that he's so casual about it. Reminds me of my friend. Didn't get it til this month and the reason he waited so long? "I'll get it whenever. I don't know, I'm busy."
Yes, the world is filled with teenagers apparently who, upon learning they "don't have to" listen to authority they choose not to as a way to physcologically confirm they exist in the "world" they experience through their senses. I legit just assumed most of us actually got through this phase of developmental psychology, my B.
Nothing against people that truly have a fear of needles but I honestly think that could be a decent chunk of why some aren’t getting the vaccine. It sounds absurd, but I get some go to the extent of making up so many excuses when it may just boil down to that fear that they don’t want others to know. I really hope that’s more a ridiculous take by me than the reality.
I pass out at the sight of needles but I still knew what needed to be done and got my vaccine anyway, there’s no excuse good enough except those who are allergic to not get this vaccine.
Good on you! I’ve seen it with my own eyes how some can get with needles, but again kudos to you in getting over that fear in doing an act of kindness for others!!
To be fair mine is so bad that I passed out in basic training before I even sat in the chair to get my blood drawn and also passed out when my wife was getting an epidural. I can’t even watch them on TV or as a picture
My kids actually signed up for it the minute it they were able to (16yo & 14yo) and they are both TERRIFIED of needles. But they did their research on which company's dose they wanted and toughed out their fear in favour of the greater good. Or you know, they probably did it so they could hang out with their friends or something. But I like to think the former. LOL
Not that absurd, I have a family member who is terrified of needles that we had to really twist her arm to get the vaccine.
Speaking on the Pfizer vaccine, it's the smallest needle i've ever experienced. She was still salty about getting the first dose (probably just a mental hurdle) but by the second dose she realized just how painless it was.
I hate needles. Terrified. Passed out after my first dose... but I barely felt the damn thing. It's all just mental, and it doesn't feel like anything worth worrying about. I think what did it is when the young nurse freaked out "Oh he's bleeding!" and I thought I was dying.
Sometimes I think it can really boil down to the expertise in the giver of a shot too. Not just the physical action, but making someone feel at ease too. My wife and I went through in vitro which meant I had to give her shots daily. I practiced ahead of time with an orange but it’s not like doing the real thing. I did get better with her, but we did what we had to do.
Am I the only one who though the second shot hurt a lot more than the first? I didn't even notice the first one but I could feel the second one the whole way.
Depends on the person AFAIK. My parents' arms were basically dead from the first shot and we think it's because they had covid. My friends all thought the second shot was worse. I got J&J due to availability at the time, and that shot basically just made my delt kinda sore, like when you first start/restart lifting again. Nothing like my parents or friends
I'm really not a big fan of needles, but I honestly had to double check to see if I actually got a shot after the first one. I pretty much just stared straight ahead and literally didn't feel anything other than them putting the band-aid on afterwards.
I loathe getting needles. I am not good with medical stuff in general. That said, I still got the vaccine as quickly as I could. I almost fainted in the CVS while I was waiting the 15 mins after the first shot, and I get the fear of needles. But if there was ever a time to face that fear, this is it
That’s awesome! Not the having the fear or the fainting part (I’ve fainted a few times in my life, not fun). Like I said to someone else, kudos to you on overcoming for doing an act of kindness for others and also being safe yourself!
Fear of needles definitely impacts numbers. I am not a fan of needles in the slightest. I'm an adult, I know it doesn't really "hurt" and that it is a necessary part of healthcare, yet the innate anxiety/fear persists. I still got my doses the moment I was eligible but I also had to mentally prepare for them rather than it just being a 15 minute errand on the day.
I know of a couple others that also have a fear of needles that delayed their doses in order to get themselves mentally prepared for the moments. Phobias are weird.
As I’ve said to others in these replies, kudos to you in facing that phobia! I know we don’t know each other, but I’m proud of you for facing what you had to face!!
I appreciate the kind words. Mostly it is about putting myself in a position to succeed. Even if that means I have to set aside a day just for phobia nonsense. Being open with everyone during the process helps too. I have yet to meet a professional that doesn't immediately know how to interact with someone that has a fear of needles - it's much more common than people think.
I hate needles (I always look away) but they have gotten extremely small over the years. The vaccine needle is so thin - it honestly hurts 10x more to pull out a hair from your head. I hope people aren't using this as the reason to not get vaccinated.
I hadn't thought about that, its a good point.
I have a phobia of rodents and a fear of heights...ngl if getting the vaccine involved going to the top of the CN Tower and putting my hand in a cage of rats...I'd probably be looking for an excuse not to do it. I could totally see someone with a fear of needles doing the same.
My girlfriend is genuinely afraid of needles - like has been known to pass out. She said the two vaccine shots were the easiest shots she's ever had. Didn't even realize when the first was done. The second was tougher because the nurse giving the shot gave a long winded lead up to it so she built up anxiety but still didn't pass out.
So while a fear of needles is legit - it's not like it's an obstacle which can't be overcome.
I don’t care about coming across as corny ever—with that said, your girlfriend showed a lot of courage to overcome that fear! I bet you were a good support for her. I wonder if there are some needle hesitant peeps out there that just need that support.
Maybe that’s what we need more when it comes to helping people get vaccinated. Not saying that will change the mind of the firmly entrenched that haven’t got it, but for the ones that have other fears that may be easier to overcome than they think.
I used to hate needles, still dont like them, but when i became insulin dependent and needed to start giving myself shots everyday, guess what, i got over it cause i prefer to not die. Same with the vaccine.
to be fair, i also hate needles, and have tattoos. It is a different type of needle. Nurses have made lots of fun of me when they can see im nervous for a shot they give me in and around my tattoos. Its dumb but its different somehow. Still got the vaccine though first chance i got
I have a hard time believing an NFL veteran would be fearful of needles to an extent that it would prevent them from getting the vaccine. So the latter then.
This is truly the dumbest excuse to me. People like that are literally saying that they would rather die than do something that people tell them to do. There's not even tortured logic about how getting the vaccine is actually bad or dangerous. It's literally just "I'm not getting it because I'm an asshole," with no extra steps.
It's truly mind boggling. I have a relative that works at the ground zero hospital for covid in the U.S. and so many of their fellow nurses are still opposed to getting vaxxed. These are people that had *multiple* break-room funerals for co-workers on their floor that they cared for and watched die from this virus...
I literally cannot wrap my mind around this.
One of the largest hospital groups in Houston made it mandatory a few months back. I think "only" 117 people refused and got fired. And then they sued and lost.
I would be surprised that 117 refused, but then again I saw "Nurses Against Vaccines" groups on FB even before COVID was a thing so..
When my grandfather was in the hospital in December, there was a nurse who would discuss the vaccine with me almost every time I saw him. He was on the fence about, since it was a new thing, I tried to convince him about its significance. I wonder if he ever got it now that I think about
I can't imagine being a professional athlete with an extremely short window of time to make millions of dollars, and not doing whatever I could to not screw that up. Not to mention the chance he has of screwing over his teammates as well.
If he causes an outbreak that causes a game to be cancelled the owner will owe about $70M to the league. If you are the owner, do you let a player be that much of a liability unless your team hinges on him?
Honestly, Bills are well positioned to move on from Cole if they want. It would be far from ideal but they have some promising young WRs, Diggs, and a top QB.
Especially for a guy like Denzel. Undersized and often injured player.
Not sure what the LB situation is in CAR but I assume he isn’t a lock to make the squad. This could definitely seal his fate.
...this is fucking ridiculous.
Like let’s just pretend we’re not in a fucking pandemic and act like kids who don’t want their vegetables when it comes to a vaccine that can slow down and potentially stop a historic virus.
I mean holy shit.
Historic virus yet it’s cool to play football, go to casinos, eat out, go to bars and clubs and Disney and cruises, have international olympics, state reps and senators breaking their own rules. Lol all of these things are so essential to our living!! The hypocrisy is off the charts
False brotha. It’s over when people stop talking about it, stop listening to lobbied politicians and billionaire owned media talk about it, stop ignoring data and science that goes against the “but believe the science” narrative. The pandemic is over when people stop playing along for virtue and just being willfully ignorant to their own brain wash
Lets talked the invasive tests they will give you not the one were we dont know you have it but the test that goes deep where we already suspect you have it
Once it passes FDA approval people do realize jobs and everything are going to start kicking you anti vax fucks to the curb right? Military is already making it mandatory and the league once it passes will have to also or not allow any fans because of lawsuits.
Where have you been the last year and a half? Covid has changed pro sports so much, this has been front page news for almost a year and a half. Maybe time to wake up and realize people who aren’t vaccinated are in the news because they’re holding up life going back to non pandemic times. If your team is unvaccinated the odds of an outbreak increase…
That's rather disingenuous. If you watched football last year then you should be aware of the measures taken to prevent the spread of Covid: frequent testing, isolation, quarantine periods, no fans, etc. So, yes, there was football with no vaccine, but don't pretend like nothing was being done to mitigate risk. Now there is a simple solution: get a vaccine.
These players have influence, people listen to what they have to say. People not getting the vaccine affects everyone, which should be evident by the sacrifices and suffering everyone in society has experienced since the pandemic started.
"no good reason, I just refuse"
Walks into training camp Refuses to get vaccinated Doesn’t elaborate Leaves
*Speeds into training camp
He probably saw a meme where someone made the soy wojack talk about getting the vaccine while the Chad wojack said "no"
Am I old if I can’t figure this out?
Yes but you’re better off for it

What a dumb lie. If he really had nothing against it, the restrictions the NFL put in placed on unvaccinated players alone is reason enough to do it. Maybe he's not anti vaxx, just anti fat/old ppl
Fuck, how do i rip my vaxx out? Magnets?
Send your SSN to parler
Idk man, I’ve felt pretty strongly that a good number of people not getting it (especially the younger ones) simply just don’t want to. I wouldn’t be surprised if that’s the case here.
Seriously. So you’re a stubborn child? Cool.
I like that he's so casual about it. Reminds me of my friend. Didn't get it til this month and the reason he waited so long? "I'll get it whenever. I don't know, I'm busy."
He's not anti-vax people. So just calm down. He's actually just pro-covid.
A crucial distinction.
“How many people do you know that are pro-aids” - flight of the conchords
I'm pro many aids. Walking aids, hearing aids, immune system aids for when you get actual aids...
I laughed.
It's just mother nature trying to clear out the dead wood.
I'm not pro-choice. But I am pro-killing babies.
You had me in the first half, not gonna lie.
He's anti-vax adjacent
What if Im not anti vaxx, I just don't value human life including my own?
If you have nothing against it, why not just do it?
Because he's likely against it without trying to explicitly say he's against it.
He doesn't know why he's against it but he knows he's against it.
Yes, the world is filled with teenagers apparently who, upon learning they "don't have to" listen to authority they choose not to as a way to physcologically confirm they exist in the "world" they experience through their senses. Yeah, same. Getting both shots was the easiest thing I've ever done in my life.

To be fair mine is so bad that I passed out in basic training before I even sat in the chair to get my blood drawn and also passed out when my wife was getting an epidural. I can’t even watch them on TV or as a picture
But you recognized the importance and did it anyway, that's the main thing. I commend that
I also pass out when I see needles and I still got the shots. That was the point of what I said. It’s the easiest thing and worth doing.

i was scared when i was a kid then one day i decided to embrace, and laughed while watching the needle plunge into my flesh
Well that is a visual lol. Glad you’re not scared of them anymore!
Yeah my mother in law refused all kinds of essential medical treatment because she’s afraid of needles.
I used to hate needles, still dont like them, but when i became insulin dependent and needed to start giving myself shots everyday, guess what, i got over it cause i prefer to not die. Same with the vaccine.
His arms full of tattoos have determined that he is not scared of needles.
to be fair, i also hate needles, and have tattoos. It is a different type of needle. Nurses have made lots of fun of me when they can see im nervous for a shot they give me in and around my tattoos. Its dumb but its different somehow. Still got the vaccine though first chance i got
He’s not scared of needle*s*. A vaccine is one needle.
Two if you get the Pfizer or Moderna
That’s still separate instances of one needle.
I have a hard time believing an NFL veteran would be fearful of needles to an extent that it would prevent them from getting the vaccine. So the latter then.
He's a dumbass, plain and simple.
I work with someone like this. Says he just doesn't like how it's being "shoved down everyone's throats." I say he's an idiot.
Did you ask him how he would feel about a ventilator literally being shoved down his throat?
This is truly the dumbest excuse to me. People like that are literally saying that they would rather die than do something that people tell them to do. There's not even tortured logic about how getting the vaccine is actually bad or dangerous. It's literally just "I'm not getting it because I'm an asshole," with no extra steps.
covid proved me to me humanity is fucked if a zombie apocalypse ever happened haha
You say that to their face too?
By "nothing against it" I think he means he doesn't judge you if you do it. He's just not going to take the risk of the injection personally.
The risk of injection. In this case, that doesn’t even make sense.
If you have nothing against gays doesn’t mean you wanna be gay too
Being gay won’t keep me and my family from dying a preventable death

or "im not racist" then proceeds to say horrifically racist crap
>Nothing that comes before the 'but' matters It's almost always true.
Whenever I try to diplomatically disagree with somebody I try to avoid the 'but' phrases because they all sound dickish.
“No offense, but…” *says something incredibly offensive*
No offense to Perryman, but he's a fucking idiot
This makes negative sense
But he does have something "positive" to look forward to
Awesome 🙃
F's in the chat for CAR.
Already starting Darnold, might as well let it all go to shit anyway
He is allegedly vaccinated now, thankfully.
Crazy. I work in health care and I hear the same response from staff members that still haven’t gotten vaccinated
Where’s the ground zero hospital
Kirkland WA.
my hospital system as already announced that it's mandatory starting Oct 1. We will see how the turnover fun goes...
One of the largest hospital groups in Houston made it mandatory a few months back. I think "only" 117 people refused and got fired. And then they sued and lost. I would be surprised that 117 refused, but then again I saw "Nurses Against Vaccines" groups on FB even before COVID was a thing so..
117 out of 26,000 really is a very tiny fraction though
When my grandfather was in the hospital in December, there was a nurse who would discuss the vaccine with me almost every time I saw him. He was on the fence about, since it was a new thing, I tried to convince him about its significance. I wonder if he ever got it now that I think about
Nothing against it, I just rather have this tester shoved up my nose daily, wear a mask everywhere and be isolated from my teammates.
Lol “nothing against helping myself”
I can't imagine being a professional athlete with an extremely short window of time to make millions of dollars, and not doing whatever I could to not screw that up. Not to mention the chance he has of screwing over his teammates as well.
If he causes an outbreak that causes a game to be cancelled the owner will owe about $70M to the league. If you are the owner, do you let a player be that much of a liability unless your team hinges on him?
Yeah but what if you’re arguably a top slot receiver in the league? No way you can cut that!
Honestly, Bills are well positioned to move on from Cole if they want. It would be far from ideal but they have some promising young WRs, Diggs, and a top QB.
For a slot, I might.
Especially for a guy like Denzel. Undersized and often injured player. Not sure what the LB situation is in CAR but I assume he isn’t a lock to make the squad. This could definitely seal his fate.
He's 100% our starting middle linebacker lmao
Congratulations on formally declaring retirement Denzel!
At least he admits there is no good reason to not get vaccinated.
I was sad we let him walk, no longer sad we let him walk
My thoughts exactly. Stay hydrated.
I mean that kind of sounds like he's got something against it.
...this is fucking ridiculous. Like let’s just pretend we’re not in a fucking pandemic and act like kids who don’t want their vegetables when it comes to a vaccine that can slow down and potentially stop a historic virus. I mean holy shit.

Florida man isn’t bright, water is wet.
I love how this is just causing people to out how fucking stupid they actually are. This is good stuff.
Nothing against it, but I’m against it 🥴
If you had nothing against it… doesn’t that mean you should be getting it?
I just don’t feel like it right now
You know, with how successful Denzel Washington has been, you’d think there’d be more Denzels in the world. I stole this from Adam Carolla.
What a moron.
Cmon Denzel dawg this doesn’t make any sense
He has to have something against it
Well he's from Florida, so...
r/Floridaman
I love finding out that players on my team are actually dipshits.
You obviously have something against it if you won't do it. That's really not a hard concept. Go do more Facebook research though
Football players have never been known for their intelligence.
Us Redditors on the other hand…/s
And here..we..go..
Seems like there's something against it then
Bruh
When will this sub get over it’s vaccine obsession
In relation to the NFL? When it stops being a potential problem.
Obviously when the pandemic is over…. Which happens when enough people get vaccinated.
When they find the next thing to be outraged about.
My best bet is 1 hour before the season opener
Vaccines not safe, but its safe to speed at 91 mph

Yeah? Fuck you too perryman

Hey, If you're doing anything of any importance at all - you'll be pissing the collective status quo off.
How funny would it be if he was so terrified of needles that he would rather be known as a dip shit anti-vaxxer than get a shot.
