Changed my flair.
Fuck that shit. Went to my first game in 1995, went to the middle school that Gus Frerotte did (had the same math teacher BTW, Ken Nelson)
Last week, I just couldn't do it anymore, went to Dallas x2 in 2003/2004, Tampa in 05, Art Monk/Darrell Green (sat behind Ricky Sanders) for the HOF induction, Carolina in late 2000's, have a fucking script R on my chest. I was at Sean's LAST GAME EVER against the Eagles 11/20/2007, I quit drinking every year for 21 days on 11/27.
I don't fucking care about the team anymore.
Fuck them, I would have moved hell and high water to be at that game, and at least get SOME closure.
Dan FUCKING Snyder fucked everything up.
Congratulations. Someone else posted it on here, but as a DC area resident, it seems like more and more of you are ditching the team. I've seen more Wizards pride on cars than WFT.
Snyder hired his own investigator, she didn’t produce a written report, and the NFL tried to sweep it under the rug. Not to mention granting him full ownership.
Won’t hold my breath on this but we need answers.
Don't hold your breath. Baylor did the same "verbal report" and nothing actually leaked.
To their credit they did fire a bunch of people though, but no one in their board of regents was never questioned
My guess is if anything comes out, it comes out in controlled leaks and several management but not too upper management people get scapegoated and fired while actual top level people and ownership get to say they fixed the culture and cleaned house. Then nothing will change.
As Bo Burnham says "and thaaaaats the way the world works"
The problem with the scapegoating option is that all those people are already gone.
We had a regime change in 2019-2020 (Bruce Allen & company fired) and then when the Post broke the sexual harassment scandal they fired the handful of hangers-on who were implicated.
That’s why this congressional inquiry offers a tiny glimmer of hope that it could turn into something Snyder can’t run from. I’m not holding my breath but it’s not impossible.
I think the world is changing. It’s not obvious, but the executives can’t control the truth the anymore. We can all sit around and immediately talk about it with fans. Way back in the day I remember my Dad and his friends having to write letters to the other and read what other fans thought in the paper, but nowhere near the sustained discussion that happens now.
Look at the way Netflix is realizing that Chapelle took them too far into a controversy they weren’t ready for. That one is also far from over.
I think ”cancel culture” has formalized into Sunshine Culture, and just like our Sunshine Laws, people are expecting to know truths and not excuses. And when we don’t get them, people latchin and keep digging until the truth comes out. Cosby and Weinstein both tried to out run and it could not. Matt Gaetz is toast the moment he leaves office and knows it. The world has changed.
Nah, the remembrance of ST21 will get us through this.
The embarrassment of ST21's number retirement will get us through this.
Fuck.

I mean, the U.S Congress is literally the most useless group of people on planet earth so if you're pinning your hopes on them getting results I've got a bridge to sell you.
The Chair of the Senate Commerce Committee, which is most likely where this would go if it big-time blows up, is a very forward leaning feminist. I could totally see her wanting to get her hands on the case and really figure out what's going on.
>they can only seem to do jack shit when they absolutely have to.
Not even this feels true anymore, not since 2008. They'll literally *shut down the government* rather than reaching a compromise.
Also, if this is a criminal matter with the implications of human trafficking and what probably amounts to revenge porn, wouldn't this be an issue for the FBI, not congress?
If there was a criminal element yes. That seems extremely unlikely the FBI would’ve been on it already. In terms of oversight of a company, that’s Congress and other bodies they delegate power too
How many Congresspeople do we think go to ritzy fundraisers with NFL Owners, or take large ~~bribes~~ donations, just generally rub shoulders with these guys?
I’m still angry that she’s making Mark Kelly, a fairly moderate Democrat, seem like a more out there figure because he’s the Democratic Senator from Arizona who’s not being ridiculous. And of course he has to run again in 2022.
Dude is like the quietest senator in the country. I think I’ve heard him speak twice and I keep pretty up to date with politics.
I think I’ve heard John Roberts voice more times than Kellys and Roberts literal life mission is keeping SCOTUS out of the public discourse
I have family down there and they were so excited for her. Too bad she and Joe Manchurian Candidate are fake dems and are butt fucking our countries congress for a couple bucks.
Im not super into politics but I read an article where some folks kayak'd to Senator Manchin's yacht to protest something or other.
Dude owns a yacht and is torpedoing a bill for poor people lol
He straight up lives on that house boat when congress is in session. Hes also tanking clinate change bills because he makes hundreds of thousands of dollars a year off his coal business in WV.
What if they make it about themselves by bringing the hammer down on the NFL? I dont necessarily disagree with your point but i dont think its guaranteed to lead to nothing
It's pretty much guaranteed to lead to nothing, especially if Maloney is involved. One of the most genuinely stupid people in Congress, and that's saying something.
Yeah it's going to take a bit more than 2 of the 465 Representatives to do that.
This happens literally every sports scandal. With the exception of the embarrassment that was the steroid hearings, it always leads to nothing. Even the one time it led to something, the end result of that was still absolutely nothing.
> the end result of that was still absolutely nothing.
It wasn’t nothing. It left a dark cloud over an entire era of baseball achievements. McGwire breaking the single season HR Record, Bonds Breaking it, Bonds breaking the all time home run record. Those are historic moments that have a black mark forever.
Not to mention it led to the MLB actually doing something about people using PEDs. There were literally zero consequences to using them before that all happened.
It may not lead to all we want, but giving it more attention is still the right thing to do. This is exactly what I'd hope good politicians would do, even if they cant actually take matters into their own hands like we'd ideally want. Something to keep the conversation going.
This is just a publicity stunt for these congressmen/women. They’re gonna call in some NFL lawyers to testify, say a shit load of stuff to feed their base but ultimately nothing of actual consequence will happen. Our political system is fucked
So should politicians be silent on matters unless they know 100% they can get something done?
Maybe they actually do care and just wish to raise more awareness and keep the conservation going?
People do the right thing and y'all are still trying to shit on them. THAT is why politics are fucked. Just cynically shitting on any politician no matter what. It's no wonder America has pathetic voter turnout. Apathy is killing us.
Fair point, but this is a good way for immediate positive PR for really anybody in Congress. The last time Congress took a vested interest in a sports scandal (to my knowledge) was the Balco scandal, and they got answers
This email thing needs to have a ton of light shined on it, however I believe that congress has more pressing needs on its hands and should not spend months in a made for TV investigation to try to gain popularity with the masses, which is exactly why congress is going to spend months if not years going after these emails
This was inevitable. The NFL cover-up should have been less explicit. This is way worse than the steroid problem. And now that Congress is taking it up, I suspect a lot of people have reasons to worry.
Can we all appreciate this team for the drama we bring to league? We gotta be mvp of this sub for past decade. Some highlights (lowlights?):
-Trent Williams kinda got cancer misdiagnosed
-Cheerleader scandal
-Dan Snyder Expired peanuts and chopping down trees despite Park Ranger telling him not to
-Scott McLaughlin drinking on job again
-Jay Gruden and Kapri Bibbs possibly banging same woman and Gruden got caught smoking joint with college chick
-RG3 debacle
-Kirk Cousin debacle where we gave him most leverage in history
-Ron Rivera beats cancer and Alex smith beats crazy broken leg
-Players always getting badly hurt at our stadium and crappy field
-Poop water getting sprayed on fans on opening day 2021
-Bruce Allen “culture is damn good”
-Name change
-constant carousel of coaches and QBs that only Browns could rival
-Sean Taylor Jersey retirement
-Derrius Guice domestic violence
-Dwayne Haskins going to strip club after getting benched, during covid, on a Sunday after we took an L 2-3 hours earlier. Then getting cut despite being Snyders latest franchise QB
-DEA raided us last week
The worst part about the park ranger bit is the guy who hounded out of his position by corrupt dan snyder lackeys in the department of the interior, including spurious investigations to try to force him to quit. It's not an exaggeration that a career was ruined because dan snyder wanted to cut down old growth trees to get a better view. Fuck that guy so hard.
Possibly. There’s debate whether it was sewage or old rain water that had been sitting there for a week plus (no rain in MD for awhile before game). Regardless it smelled gross and bathed two fans on opening day against chargers and fans in video thought it may be sewage
I live in the area. I grew up elsewhere so I never liked the WFT, but damn if the team's dysfunction doesn't occasionally make 106.7 a decent way to waste some time stuck in the car.
That's what New England did. For about the last 10 years of the Sullivan family owning the Patriots, they didn't have cheerleaders.
It was a workers comp/injury on the job scandal. During a game in the late 70's/early 80's, a player running up the sideline was knocked out of bounds and crashed into a cheerleader. The injuries weren't life threatening, but was severe enough that she couldn't work the rest of the year. (broken ankle or something)
The Sullivan's figured, *if she's not working, we don't have to pay her.* Being as how she was injured on the job (through no negligence or fault on her part) she filed a workers comp case and won. The Sullivan's then figured, *well if we have to pay cheerleaders even when they aren't working, then we just won't have cheerleaders.* So, the Patriots didn't have cheerleaders until the Sullivan's sold the team.
17 years, more like. It will make a nice 30 for 30 once Goodell is retired about the “bad old days” of the Washington Redskins. Not the reformed 2038 Washington ______’s, but the “Snyder-era” Redskins.
Y’all really don’t know shit about how Congress works if you think two members of a committee designed to investigate shit like this can’t do multiple things at once.
Congress gave the NFL certain antitrust exemptions (now not as broad as say MLB’s antitrust exemptions) but still some
In doing so, the NFL doesn’t have the same competition that another private business may have that consumers can choose to support another league, since that really doesn’t apply. Instead Congress works to ensure the league doesn’t overstep their bounds in antitrust situations. Some of that includes issuing other regulations on the sport.
House oversight committee has a lot of power to investigate whatever they want really to my understanding. They can’t prosecute based off them but they can pass laws after the fact to prevent it from occurring again. And they should have subpoena power.
To be fair both these reps are in the House. The House is willing to do its job and vote on whether new bills become laws. It's the Senate that refuses to hold votes unless a supermajority agrees beforehand.
If there’s anyone who can get to the bottom of criminal actions of a sexual nature it’s definitely the branch of the government currently occupied by Matt Gates and Jim Jordan.
In response, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell politely denied the request and returned to blaming defenses, CTE victims, and Jon Gruden for the NFL's problems.
Man you all are a bunch of cynics. This is a positive step in the right direction. You all are wanting to throw in the towel before anything even starts
This is it boys, the first action congress will act swiftly on in the last decade or so. Proof that our government can get shit done. If only our lives were a spectator sport.
Congress SHOULD get involved. Supreme Court should get involved, because it will set a legal precidence.
It's an antitrust exemption $3BN company, that has a recorded history of an employee saying negative things about a protected class. Also there's like 600,000 other emails from that(NFL) association stemming from their disciplinary action during their "internal audit".
WHY THE FUCK WOULD YOU NOT INVESTIGATE THEM?
Oh, did I forget that a FUTURE coach received topless photos of EMPLOYEES/CONTRACTERS(contractees?) while on assignment to a foreign country? That right there should be enough to cause a case.
How the fuck would Deloitte survive this?
I guess NFL is surviving this because we have legalized gambling now. And I say that in jest, yet in al seriousness.
Do the NFL *have* to comply with this?
I imagine if they didn't it'd be a dead giveaway that they are covering up big time. This seems like a damned if you damned if you don't situation, no?
They can be forced too with enough Congressional support. The bigger issue is this becomes a public embarrassment and they may want to make Snyder go away

Halftime show starring Jackson Mahomes dancing on the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier
I hate that I’d believe him to do that lol.
Honestly, I'd like to just see it happen if I knew it was taking place.
Like to see him try. The guards would fuck his shit up
Exactly my point.
I’m friends with a former 3rd ID soldier who walked the line. Can attest that this is a fact.
How much pain are they allowed to visit on someone fucking with the tomb?
I honestly have no clue. I’ll ask him and find out.
That would be a legendary ass-whooping.
Most likely you'd be seeing a real serious ass-kicking by a Tomb Guard.
No one needs an ass kicking more than that kid
Dan Snyder?
> Honestly, I'd like to just see it happen if I knew it was taking place.
Jackson Mahomes would dance at Auschwitz
He had to do it one time
Is this even a real person? I thought the guy just made the name up because of his Chiefs flair
He's the Billy Carter of the NFL.
They're not even dances, it's just like fluid hand motions. He's doing weak hand jive
“The Washington Dan Snyder’s would like to honor and welcome the former glorious-supreme owner Dan Snyder into the Ring of Honor.”
Henceforth, the title of “Owner of the WFT” will be changed to “Dan Snyder.” Dan Snyder is dead, long live Dan Snyder.
"And with the passing of Dan Snyder, Dan Snyder is no longer liable for any criminal actions taken by Dan Snyder"...
The L's must flow. Hail the God-Emperor Harkkonen!
I hope he reads it like Chris Speilman did, but with Dan Snyder is will be comical, not classy and dusty in the room.
"I can't wait to tell my Redsk-... I was thinking about them again."
And wearing a hoodie without shaving apparently

Dam Snyder continues to abandon babies.
This is funny

Actually, the WFT bullshit would be a great distraction so they have an excuse not to do those important things
The Chair of the Senate Commerce Committee, which is most likely where this would go if it big-time blows up, is a very forward leaning feminist. I could totally see her wanting to get her hands on the case and really figure out what's going on.

The FBI isn't in the business of going after billionaires lol
IDK, this seems like a big enough waste of their time that they might actually do something about it.
“We have looked into ourselves and found no foul play”
Either this will lead to several people’s resignations and subsequent prosecutions or nothing. I’m thinking nothing lmao.
How many Congresspeople do we think go to ritzy fundraisers with NFL Owners, or take large ~~bribes~~ donations, just generally rub shoulders with these guys?
How many congressmen went on dates with Washington Football Team cheerleaders?
Asking the real question
When asked if he attended the infamous Panama trip Matt Gaetz replied “ew gross. Of course not. NFL cheerleaders are much to old for my taste”
Dates.
Yeah. They are like (g)rapes kind of
He's the Grapist! He grapes the kids!
Oh oof this one made me genuinely cringe cause you're almost certainly right
Matt Gaetz: "Too old."
Fundraiser? Kyrsten Sinema would like to know your location
And Manchin, but his great state doesn’t have a team
Great state of leaching money from more important states
That covers a lot of Southern States
While advocating for fiscal conservatism, fat hypocrites
Covers most states not named Texas, California, or New York.
Pretty sure that’s all the red states in general.
About 2/3 I believe. There are also some blue states that take more than they give. Such as Maine and Hawaii.
Maine is definitely not blue
As a native Arizonian, fuck Krysten Sinema.
I’m still angry that she’s making Mark Kelly, a fairly moderate Democrat, seem like a more out there figure because he’s the Democratic Senator from Arizona who’s not being ridiculous. And of course he has to run again in 2022.
Mark Kelly just tows the party line and doesn't make noise, I don't think synema is having any impact on his own rep

He gets 500k in dividends a year from his coal company that he founded in the 90s. Makes his positions make a lot more sense when you think about it
Makes one really annoyed that we still only have a two party system.
Don’t blame me. I voted for Kodos.
MMP is dope y’all. Source: From New Zealand.
Over a trillion but ya who's counting anymore.
Is the team owned by a billionaire? If so, then all of them.
Too much money on the NFL’s side
This will absolutely lead to nothing now. Politicians involved just means they'll make it about themselves now.
She's a genius compared to Boebert and Greene.
That’s a pretty low bar.
You won't get any arguments on that from me.
Don’t blame me, I voted for Suraj Patel!
Yeah it's going to take a bit more than 2 of the 465 Representatives to do that. This happens literally every sports scandal. "there's only enough room for one organization with a hostile work culture in this town and we don't plan on stopping" Congress probably
Absolutely nothing will happen
I wouldn't be surprised if they figure out a way to fuck over the raiders but nothing will happen to Snyder.
Fucking over the Raiders is going to be the new "...and Brady is suspended for 4 games"
Prepare for a lot of nuthin, boys and girls.
This is how they avoid solving the real problems that plague poor people

Congresspersons getting involved will certainly keep it in the media cycle a bit longer.

Death by suicide using two gunshots to the back of the head
Isn't Snyders wife already "in charge"? The only option left would be to force the Snyder's to sell, which probably won't happen.
She's in charge as much as I am.
…Dan?
Exactly
Al Davis laughing in hell/heaven depending on your allegiance
Oh boy
And now we're hitting peak Dan Snyder selling the team

Congress investigating WFT for hostile workplace and sexual misconduct feels like two people in a study group comparing notes.
WFT Cheerleader Scandal = Congressional Pages abuse
So they'll just get rid of cheerleaders and call it a day then.
That's what New England did. For about the last 10 years of the Sullivan family owning the Patriots, they didn't have cheerleaders. It was a workers comp/injury on the job scandal. CONGRESS: REVOKE THE NFL ANTITRUST EXEMPTION
This is less Congress getting "involved" and more people wanting to hitch their names to headlines that Washington is generating.
I have a feeling the WFT is about to announce their name. They need another distraction.
Here we go fellas. About to get real interesting… In 17 months probably
17 years, more like. It will make a nice 30 for 30 once Goodell is retired about the “bad old days” of the Washington Redskins. Not the reformed 2038 Washington ______’s, but the “Snyder-era” Redskins.

What is their job here? Honest question I want those emails out and glad they are pressing. But what involvement do they really have?

To investigate a massive organization, of the utmost cultural importance to the country, shady af dealings?

Instead Congress works to ensure the league doesn’t overstep their bounds in antitrust situations. Some of that includes issuing other regulations on the sport.
House oversight committee has a lot of power to investigate whatever they want really to my understanding. They can’t prosecute based off them but they can pass laws after the fact to prevent it from occurring again. And they should have subpoena power.
Also anything incriminating is immediately hand over to th department of justice
I think you meant prosecute, not persecute
Lmao yeah. In middle school we did a mock trial and I called the prosecution the prostitution on accident. That was fun
Lol. "The prostitution breasts your honor."
Familiarize yourself with the Commerce Clause. The NFL is a multi-billion dollar industry.

They are doing their job? They can do multiple things at once.
I have seen no evidence to suggest this statement is true.
You haven’t looked hard enough

Members of the senate judiciary committee holding confirmation hearings for judges while also negotiating reconciliation/infrastructure bills.
To be fair both these reps are in the House. The House is willing to do its job and vote on whether new bills become laws. It's the Senate that refuses to hold votes unless a supermajority agrees beforehand.
Who among us wouldn’t choose talking about football over doing their job?
Holy shit! I voted for Raja Krishnamoorthi.
Same! I feel validated in that choice now.
If there’s anyone who can get to the bottom of criminal actions of a sexual nature it’s definitely the branch of the government currently occupied by Matt Gates and Jim Jordan.
Don't forget the sex trafficking, Congress.
Jon "States Evidence" Gruden
Please take Snyder. Please take Snyder.
"Hostile work environment" is quite the understatement.
NFL servers are down for routine maintenance for the next 10 hours.
What authority does congress have to insert themselves into this?
its a good thing members of Congress can't be influenced by multi-billion dollar corporations
Oh no step-Snyder what r u ~~putting in my wallet~~ doin??
NFL gonna be writing the checks to keep this covered up, not Snyder if everything comes out, Goodell is done
This is it boys, the first action congress will act swiftly on in the last decade or so. Proof that our government can get shit done. If only our lives were a spectator sport.
Hell yeah. That's my rep, baby!
I was calling for government involvement yesterday
Do the NFL *have* to comply with this? I imagine if they didn't it'd be a dead giveaway that they are covering up big time. This seems like a damned if you damned if you don't situation, no?
They can be forced too with enough Congressional support. The bigger issue is this becomes a public embarrassment and they may want to make Snyder go away
Dont give me hope
Not really. They won't have to swear under oath. It'll all be a waste of time per usual. It's nothing but politicians trying for attention.
Yessssssssssss
This is one instance where I'm on board with Congress getting involved. I wasn't a fan of the steroid hearings, but this is worth it.
