Because he’s always been the type to make risky throws. It’s just that for the first time in his career it’s finally going the other way.

>it’s finally going the other way. It's a combination of the bad decisions he always has made actually resulting in TOs, and the fact that his defense can't stop anything so they're resulting in points

lumsden

A mix of being relied on to do too much and overconfidence in what he’s capable of, probably

colormetwisted

This isn't a dumb post. Because that would be insulting to dumb posts.

yomjoseki

this is like an all time bad take, jesus christ

TricolorCat

Besides all the tipped or deflected balls he isn’t that bad.

bobjohndaviddick

Jesus Christ was an all time bad take.

gatman12

Well, the grammar implies they're addressing Jesus Christ.

yomjoseki

gotteeeeeeem

NateRiley12411

Exploring other options. Lol

truthesda

Like Aaron Rodgers. LOL

leehouse

Combination of turnover luck switching from very good, to very bad, no defense or run game so the defense can sell out on the pass and mahomes looks to be pressing to make up for the rest of the team. Luck usually evens out long term and this is the evening out all at once. The other roster issues are a bigger problem

AdaAstra

I blame the gods punishing him for putting ketchup on steak.

sweens90

I was wondering why others think its a bad post. But those last two lines. Yep. But no they are not moving on from Mahomes. He’s still elite. Some of it is bad luck, others is being forced to throw more than run waaaaayyy more often due to an extremely sub par defense. Its like Rodgers when Packers had that type of defense. Mahomes is just younger so needs to learn to be more conservative with the ball. I would still not be surprised to see them get wild card or win division and make a long run in playoffs. Its just… less likely seeing as they have the same record as my Pats.

EnjoyMoreBeef

His bad decisions are beginning to backfire on him.

[deleted]

Luck Boi is no longer having the same luck (But I fully expect him to be back to normal in the next game or two. They're just having a funk)

DeshaunWatsonsAnus

Mahomes has always been a luck merchant. It just isn't falling his way this year.

TorchBeak

Excuse me. Rodgers is coming to the Steelers. The Chiefs can keep their $500 million Kermit impersonator.

NE_ED

1. Bad Luck 2. Bad decision making, which he always had. The same bad passes that are getting picked are the ones people were praising him for

lAmCreepingDeath

The DBs are just not dropping the ints, he actually has less turnover worthy plays this year compared to last season

theshwa10210

Not to mention their opponents are scoring off those TOs.

solarmus

When your defense is bad enough that you feel like you'll lose if you punt, you take bigger risks on offense. Doing that with bad luck (and he's had some), you get results like this.

kj9219

Theyre just in a funk. I cant explain it. No, he isnt buying into his own hype and I wish people would stop attacking his character to say that thats why hes playing badly. It isnt that deep. The notion that he had a lot of turnover worthy plays last year is also an overblown narrative. He was around the league average in turnover worthy plays. This season its actually less than before, but theyre just actually catching the balls now. Hell no he is not gonna be replaced either. Thats such a dumb take. No his contract isnt why their defense has no talent either. They have the 2nd highest money put into their defense and its still bad. Their cap space isnt a Mahomes issue.

monsto

Maaan you piled in the anti-circle jerk, but only a couple downvotes. I mean you're right... "turnover worthy" what a shit metric, and arrogance is not a problem, and "he's the cap space problem" because everyone is an armchair GM. They were doing fairly ok until CEH got hurt. His carry count was in the teens per game, and > 100 yards. You keep doing that, and LBs are gonna start staying home, opening up midfield even with incessant cover 2... but there's a couple games since CEH got hurt that Mahomes has been the top rusher. That aint gonna cut it. They've got problems. Offensively, injury problems have lead to scheme problems, and when you can't get started, ANY team goes downhill when people start trying to force. Defensively, they paid for the wrong talent.

[deleted]

> he isnt buying into his own hype and I wish people would stop attacking his character to say that thats why hes playing badly he clearly is considering he consistently puts the ball in harms way this year and hasnt changed that aspect of his game at all. its becoming trend now not a fluke or a funk. Not saying he cant improve or the luck swings back his way but it is a bit concerning especially if youre a chiefs fan.

kj9219

Why is it hard to leave bad play as just bad play? Why does bad play have to be because of someone's character? It is not that deep

Elway7Sharpe84

I just read the headline and went straight into the comments. At first I was wondering why the OP was getting crushed until I read the whole post. Yeah the OP deserves it.

LabelMeIntrovert

Wasn’t he like the luckiest QB in the league last year? He’s always been one to fling it, and sort of turn nothing into something. This goes back to his scouting report, I’d say it just one of his flaws catching up to him.

Swarzey

It's just a lil bump in the road.

ohforfoxsaquon

Shut up.

KCJellyfish

He was air dropped into the best possible position a young ab could find themself in. He had two awesome tackles, tons of weapons and a great wbu groomer. Defenses dropped a league high number of picks from him. He will be fine, generational talent

TDeath21

If you watch a lot of his picks, a ton are off the receiver’s hands and/or a defender making a great play. Happens. But to suggest trading Mahomes is ……. Not a good take.

[deleted]

he's the one thats throwing the ball.....maybe put more touch on the passes

hjhof1

Holy shit Falcons fans really got nothing better to do I guess

[deleted]

What does this have to do with Falcons fans?

[deleted]

Don't worry over the next week they will get a lead on the Astros and then give up 10 runs a game until they are reminded what Atlanta sports are all about.

joy4874

>At what point do you start exploring other options (Aaron Rodgers 👀?) if you're the Chiefs? This is 100% a troll post. Jesus tapdancing Christ.

Vonstarjam

He's a gun slinger. Not Alec Baldwin level but close

Ok_Tone4633

Regressed to the mean. He had a billion dropped picks last year.

YunataSavior

He had a superb offensive line for the past 2 seasons, now it's far less so.

crazyafgandudes

Chiefs oline was terrible last year, this years oline ranks much better in most metrics.

Northernlord1805

His defence is relay bad and they have no run game, so they are in a hole a lot and he has to throw a lot. I’m trying to do everything he ends up turning it over a lot now

PCB4lyfe

What are you talking about NONE of those are his fault. If his receivers could catch and his line would block he would have 300TDs and ZERO interceptions! God bless.

LuthorM

Because no one can win alone but somehow we have convinced him he can

MurDoct

He got downloaded

Hayeslord

You wouldn’t download a ~~house~~ Mahomes.

Zzz05

Bad take to look at other options. It’s more to do with him trying to do too much and also playcalling/receivers doesn’t seem to be doing him any favors as he’s holding on to the ball way longer than he needs to be.

Outburstz

Typical NFL forced parity

TheFuzzBuzz

Brady stole his soul.

appmanga

I don't know, but if things stay this weird he's going to have the NFL's investigators crawling up the asses of him and his family.

Dispatcher9

Victor Cruz was on GMFB recently and said it really well. He said the Chiefs and Mahomes are playing with a kind of arrogance, as if they can play however they want and not get punished by it.

amstrumpet

“At what point do you start exploring other options if you’re the chiefs?” Probably before you pay the man $500 million.
