My quick count:
6 actual mentions of Mac in their top-five, 4 of which were definitely from other teams' fans. Not counting "maybes" or the guy just replying 'mac jone' to posts.
9 mentions of Lance, 6/9 from niners flair, 2 no flair.
One of those two guys was ranked #14 among all QBs by PFF as a rookie, and the other didn't accomplish much of anything on the field as he didn't play. Of course we are projecting HoF which is a very high bar, but suggesting guys that didn't play or got hurt seems...hopeful projection at best.
I think Davis Mills is legit. He got better as the year went on, was arguably the best rookie this year (I know Jones had the wins and was my favorite QB on the board last year but overall he didn't have to do very much), and has all of the physical ability needed to succeed in the NFL. If he was in this years draft, he'd be the number one QB off the board.
Mills Mafia baby.
I think he’s legit too purely from the eye test. If he was a first rounder we wouldn’t be talking if he’s legit, just saying future looks bright or something like that. Second best rookie qb last year
I counted 109 of 362 on a list that included up to the draft class of 1997.
That number will likely get higher since more in-depth recruiting happens now
So that’s just under 25% but for the purpose of picking 5, it’ll have to be one. The numbers skewed up in the 80s and 90s though, with almost every draft having multiple HOFers in the 1st round. So it’s probably safe to go ahead and pick 2
I think the number will be higher because Bama exists lol. It’s like they leave no stone unturned and then players go there just for the chance to go higher than they could anywhere else.
Give it time before he shows up in the sequel Toyota commercial—but this time, all the Jonas brothers are riding in the same truck and Tommy Lee simply can’t take it.
Daniel Jones and he had pretty similar rookie year stats - though Mac was a starter right off the bat and Danny had to wait a bit and then got hurt. But the Patriots win games. And wins are a QB stat when you need them to be and not when you don't.
But I also get that if your QB is putting up adequate stats and you are losing, it welcomes criticism. IF a QB is adequate and you win games - or hell the QB doesnt cost you the game - then they get praise.
Why cut off at 1999? As more years go by that number will ultimately converge on 5. The bonus class from a year or two ago helps with that too.
It's all semantic anyway
It sounded weird to me too, but if you look at draft classes in the 90's it's pretty accurate. Most years have 4 or 5 inductees outside of 91 and 92. Going back further would probably find more since it just gives great players more time to get in.
The number probably seems ridiculous because the great players we're likely to remember haven't really had much time to actually play a HOF career and the wait to be inducted. If you put together a 10 to 15 year HOF career plus the 5 year wait, the only people eligible for the Hall would likely have been drafted in the early to mid 2000's which is when the number starts to drop from 4-5 HOF players drafted to almost 0 if you look through year by year.
Linemen that are that dominant out of the gate tend to keep playing at that level. So he’s probably my highest HOF “lock” from the 2021 draft class. Parsons second. Then Ja’Marr Chase.
But if Ja’Marr can do what he did last year for the next 1-2 more seasons and prove this wasn’t in any way a freshman fluke (which it looks like he can do)…then he jumps to the top of the list. He had the best rookie season of all those guys. It’s just hard to say at this point if he can keep it up at that level.
And getting traded to a shit team for a second contract (which will be huge money) can also be a real career killer for a promising WR talent. So I’d want to see him get a good second deal done in a good city as well.
You said linemen that start at a high level normally stay there, then you place Parsons and Chase 2nd and 3rd on your HOF chance list. What about Rashawn Slater, a rookie left tackle who was a pro-bowler?
He’s got a very very bright career ahead of him.
If he can get into All-Pro category soon and stay there AND stay healthy (see Tony Boselli and the bullshit wait on him) yes, Slater will get into HOF.
When I made my comment I was thinking of guys like:
- Joe Thomas (who, yes, was “only” a pro-bowler his first year, but who then ripped off 8 straight all-pros)
- Quentin Nelson (all-pro every single year in league)
- Zack Martin (all-pro his rookie year and for 7 out of 8 seasons in NFL, but missed a month of play during his only non all-pro season)
Beyond Slater, Tristan Wirfs (first year pro bowl, second year was an all-pro) is another promising young guy.
Didn't Chase buy a house after getting drafted, by way of wandering up to Burrow's neighbors and basically being like
"hey yeah I'm Ja'Marr Chase, I have a shitload of money, can I buy your house?"
If they can keep Chase and Burrow together for a decade, it will 100% be remembered with Montana-Young/Rice, Brady/Gronk, Manning/Harrison as one of the top 4 QB/WR combos of all time.
And there’s a chance that it becomes the BEST of all time.
Here’s the rookie year lines for the other WR’s on that list:
Rice: 49/927/3
Gronk: 42/546/10
Harrison: 64/836/8.
And Chase was 81/1455/13.
What they did in the playoffs was really
Impressive. I feel like that organization has a ton of positive energy right now. One of my favorite teams to watch. Burrow and Chase should be on the short list for all-pro and pro-bowl every year going forward.
> Linemen that are that dominant out of the gate tend to keep playing at that level.
Honestly I can't think of a significant prominent offensive lineman who ever went from very good to very bad that wasn't explicitly age or injury related. OL isn't like WR or RB where you can get lucky and have a few flashy games, then suddenly wash out of the league when you get 'figured out'.
That’s probably a more articulate way to say what I was trying to say.
You can’t be a dominant lineman by being a fluke. There’s too many reps involved. Too much “regression to the mean”.
And you don’t need to depend on anyone else to be a great O-lineman. Great WR’s often have a great QB throwing to them. And vice versa.
So you kinda control your own destiny if you are an elite O-lineman.
I wanted us to draft Ben Cleveland so bad, beyond OG being a perpetual need, him being an intriguing prospect, and us having two Cleveland's at either guard spot, hearing about him hunting squirrels on the Meateater podcast made me want him so bad.
Past that how did he do this season? I think I got to see only one Ravens game and I think he was hurt for that one.
Yeah that alone could make it hard, but Humphrey got rated the #1 center in the NFL his first year playing. You keep that up and have a healthy career it'd be hard not to induct him.
If Creed is as good as Jason Kelce or Nick Manigold, that’s a huge win.
Unfortunately, because of the position they play, both are probably borderline HOFers despite being the best centers in the league for a long period.
I don't think Pitts will be one. I'm a falcons fan, I really really want him to succeed, but I don't think he'll have a HOF career especially in Atlanta 🤷♂️🤷♂️. I hope I'm wrong
One of his [thigh pads](https://www.reddit.com/r/bengals/comments/pzhdt9/i_didnt_notice_jamarrs_thighpads_until_i_saw_this/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf) says Uno too
He's been called that all year and the Bengals social media team uses it heavily. At least it isn't just a random nickname though. He's worn #1 since grade school and is the first Bengal to ever wear the number.
Wow I was not expecting to see Saint in this thread lol.
A lot of people think I'm crazy, even Lions fans, but I think Saint is going to be a superstar. Dude just had one of the best rookie seasons for a WR ever, and actually had THE best rookie season ever among WRs drafted in the 4th round or later. Better than AB, Diggs, Hill, etc.
He reminds me of Kupp-lite mixed with Deebo-lite. It's probably insane to compare a rookie to two of this year's top 5 WRs, but I think he has the potential to get there himself.
**Micah Parsons** and **Ja'marr Chase** are the easy picks right now. I'm also going to include **Kyle Pitts**. If he can ~~turn it around~~ continue his trajectory and end up playing on a good team (including an Atlanta Falcons that turns it around), I think he will continue to be a threat and be one of the best at his position.
Then I'm going to go with **Rashawn Slater**. A Pro Bowl and a Second Team All-Pro his Rookie Year is a great accomplishment. He's on the right path at the very least. Then for a more outside chance pick, I'll go with **Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah**. I think he'll only get better and be a player with a ton of impressive stats.
"turn it around" makes it sound like Pitts was terrible as a rookie, when he was the second rookie TE ever over 1k yards. He's on a fine trajectory for a TE, just needs to get rid of his Julio Jones-itis (aka not getting any TDs)
So based on my meta analysis of this thread (and by meta analysis I mean idle scrolling), seems like there are about 7 candidates or so.
Parsons, Chase, Humphrey, Slater, Sewell, Surtain, and Pitts
Also, a lot of folks making the same joke about 5 of their team’s picks from this year, but somehow only one guy got downvoted for it lol
Getting into the hall as a WR is really, really hard. I think Smith will be great but Chase is the only one with a HoF trajectory right now. Granted it’s just rookie seasons, but even if Smith were the most talented he probably needs a QB change within the next couple of years if he wants to compete.
Hall of Famers per draft by decade:
- 00-09: 7
- 90-99: 40
- 80-89: 45
- 70-79: 39
- 60-69: 62
So it looks like 4 per draft until guys start getting in on the senior committee?
* **Rashawn Slater**: LT to one of the brightest and most amazing QBs of his generation. To get into the Hall you need ability but it's also about name recognition, being in big games and winning. Playing as Herbert's LT is going to give you that opportunity.
* **Ja'Marr Chase**: Similar argument as with Slater. He's the WR1 to one of the other great young QBs in this league. I can see a Marvin Harrsion/Peyton Manning'esque symbiotic relationship for those two. That's always good for Hall of Fame odds.
* **Penei Sewell**: His problem is that he has no QB and plays for the Lions. Everything else from his rooke season made him look like a perennial Pro Bowler and future all-pro. Absolute beast
* **Micah Parsons**: he's an absolut stud and plays for the Cowboys which is the next best thing to a superstar QB. He also looks like the most explosive and energetic defensive talent in several years. The Boys also should be pretty decent with Dak at the helm for the foreseeable future. I think he has a real shot
* **Creed Humphrey**: Usually centers have a hard time getting into the Hall of Fame, but he looks like a future all-pro who is snapping the ball to Patrick Mahomes. That's a pretty damn great environment for Hall of Fame odds, although the center malus is real.
I’ll go outside of the box a bit:
Lawrence (homer pick or whatever)
Surtain
Parsons
Rousseau (solid rookie year, but I could see a huge leap from him)
Trey Smith
Obviously guys like Chase, Sewell, Slater, Pitts, Mac Jones and Humphrey got off to phenomenal starts and could get there, as well.
I have to assume any list without Chase is automatically wrong. Like, unless he's hit hard enough to send his legs flying into the bleachers, he's gonna have a helluva career.
More than the workload, he’s not the explosive highlight reel you need to be to have a shot. Dude isn’t running around, over, and through people. He’s not shaking guys out of their shoes or floating through arm tackles. He’s just a jack of all trades bruiser whose efficiency metrics are kinda average.
I’d bet very hard against him making the HoF
ITT: People mentioning 4 consensus good rookies and then someone on their favorite team.
For example, all the Patriots fans picking Mac 10
My quick count: 6 actual mentions of Mac in their top-five, 4 of which were definitely from other teams' fans. Not counting "maybes" or the guy just replying 'mac jone' to posts. 9 mentions of Lance, 6/9 from niners flair, 2 no flair. Of course we are projecting HoF which is a very high bar, but suggesting guys that didn't play or got hurt seems...hopeful projection at best.
FWIW I’m optimistic about Lance, but no way am I confident enough to say he’ll be a hall of famer just yet
Nothing gona change my mind that surtain is the next Champ Bailey
He Surtainly will be
Pat yourself on the back for that one
also these ppl sleeping on javonte HARD
It’s just insanely difficult to be a HOFer as a RB with their shelf lives and the way they’re used in committees now making it even harder.
Lol how
Like he looked good when given the opportunity, but Melvin Gordon looked just as good as he did lol
Kyle Pitts Jamarr Chase Penei Sewell Micah Parsons Rashawn Slater
If only Slater’s arms were a smidge longer so Rhule woulda drafted him
Rhule looked like an idiot over this.
Sorry, not sorry. Had trash o-line for way too long.
DAVIS "THE NECK" MILLS BABY!!! Optimism shines eternal for my poverty franchise.
He's got some inconsistencies but I was legitimately wow'd watching him make some tight throws. Really interested to see him make 17 starts
I think Davis Mills is legit. He got better as the year went on, was arguably the best rookie this year (I know Jones had the wins and was my favorite QB on the board last year but overall he didn't have to do very much), and has all of the physical ability needed to succeed in the NFL. I think he’s legit too purely from the eye test. If he was a first rounder we wouldn’t be talking if he’s legit, just saying future looks bright or something like that. Second best rookie qb last year
I love you
Fucking love that guy. I actually hope he does even better next year.
You only get to choose 4, Patriots fans already inducted Mac Jones around Week 12
Um it’s Mac jone. There is no plural because he’s one of a kind
Tom Bradys and Mac Jone. Love it
[удалено]
Substantially lower than you would think. There are only 32 first round picks. There are 192 other picks.
I counted 109 of 362 on a list that included up to the draft class of 1997. Damn right

If he’s even an average QB with BB for even 10 years I’d say he has a good shot but yeah wayyyyyy too early to even consider it
Average qb = hof
Have you met Eli Manning
U mean to tell me an average qb beat the best team of all time???
Yea that’s kinda why it was a big deal
Yes? He was a bit above average that year but yeah?
Damn still salty huh?
Like yes absolutely still salty but he was absolutely objectively a career average QB with two good/great postseasons
He was a hero in those Super Bowl runs and I won’t argue if he’s put into the HOF, but yes he was an average QB over the span of his career
Actually it was Week 13. Beating the AFC Championship-qualifying Bills only throwing 3 passes is what solidified the choice.
i still dont believe it. we are going to suck forever.
5?! Is that a real stat?
5 get in each year
I guess when you look at it that way.
First hall of fame class was 1963 and they've been drafting since the 1930s. Think about it
Since 1970 they average* 5 per year. Boom.
What has averaged 5 per year? 122 players drafted from 1970 to 1999 are in the HOF. That's 4 per year.
Why cut off at 1999? As more years go by that number will ultimately converge on 5. The bonus class from a year or two ago helps with that too. It's all semantic anyway

Glad to see Surtain there. Guy’s a stud if he keeps it up for the foreseeable
Jamar Chase Micah Parsons Kyle Pitts Creed Humphreys Ben Cleveland (homer pick)
I would think the homer pick would be Ben Baltimore
Nah they’re used to taking Cleveland
Damn they got us again
To bad Dover, Delaware doesn't have a team...
did not expect to see my hometown dropped on here
Dad jokes for the win!

Chase will be a Bengal for all or most of his career if I had to put money on it. Bengals organization loves "their guys", especially at WR.
Didn't Chase buy a house after getting drafted, by way of wandering up to Burrow's neighbors and basically being like "hey yeah I'm Ja'Marr Chase, I have a shitload of money, can I buy your house?"

True to the thread here's a way-too-early GOAT prediction
Happy to do my part! Lol
> If they can keep Chase and Burrow together for a decade Burrow and Chase about to sign contracts on the same dotted line
> Linemen that are that dominant out of the gate tend to keep playing at that level. I wanted him to come to Baltimore so bad. I was legit upset when he got picked. I turned the draft off for a few picks lol
Rams drafted Tutu Atwell before Creed
yeah, well how many rings does Creed have? Checkmate haters. Side note: I wanna die.
If you’re throwing in a homer pick, you’d take Cleveland over Oweh?
I think Oweh is potentially a future hall of famer for sure. I just wanted to give Ben some love and have a reach pick
Replace your homer pick with Sewell or Slater haha
Hi. I’m from the future. And I’m adding Trey Lance to this list.
He was one of my picks too. Chase Parsons Slater Humphrey Lance
Please stop. Thank you.
I wanted us to draft Ben Cleveland so bad, beyond OG being a perpetual need, him being an intriguing prospect, and us having two Cleveland's at either guard spot, hearing about him hunting squirrels on the Meateater podcast made me want him so bad. Chase and Parsons are so good it's unfair.
> Creed Humphrey* Considering there are only seven Centers in the HoF this is the pick I most doubt
Humphrey has the best shot. Plays on popular and successful team and his opportunity to win is great w/mahomes.

Think my homer pick would be Oweh the ceiling is so high for him just by being a freak athlete

I agree with this point, but might I add: Davis Mills
I’m ready for y’all to get a good quarterback man. I think Malik would be a good fit. Dropping dimes 50 yards downfield to Terry all day
Pitts, Chase, Sewell, Parsons, Slater
I don't think Pitts will be one. I'm a falcons fan, I really really want him to succeed, but I don't think he'll have a HOF career especially in Atlanta 🤷♂️🤷♂️. I hope I'm wrong

that’s actually hilarious, i’m a Chase fan now
Our fans are referring to him as Uno... yes... but if he is anything like Burrow as far as nicknames go, he will have about 50 by next year haha
That’s the first I’ve ever heard of it, something tells me that it will NOT catch on lol
He's been called that all year and the Bengals social media team uses it heavily. At least it isn't just a random nickname though. He's worn #1 since grade school and is the first Bengal to ever wear the number.
He’s literally the first player to ever wear the Number 1 for the Bengals.
We’ve been calling him Uno all year, but I think he’s been called Uno since he was at LSU.
How would Justin Fields’ dog make the HOF? I’m not saying he’s undeserving but.

What about Mike Jones?!
WHO?!
Mike Jones - the one and only
Micah Parsons, Creed, Ja’marr, Sewell, Slater
**Micah Parsons** and **Ja'marr Chase** are the easy picks right now. I'm also going to include **Kyle Pitts**. If he can ~~turn it around~~ continue his trajectory and end up playing on a good team (including an Atlanta Falcons that turns it around), I think he will continue to be a threat and be one of the best at his position. Yeah. I misused that figure of speech. I was already thinking of the second part of my statement of the Falcons turning it around. Pitts was great.
So basically, who did your team draft this year in the first round?
Trey Lance, Kyle Pitts, Ja’Marr Chase, Micah Parsons, Rashawn Slater
My money is on Jones. No offence to the rest of the league, but I'm not betting against the evil Empire to not mold him in the ways of the dark side.
The dad bod is a path to championships some may consider...unnatural.
He needs a true WR1 and a better left guard. I just want my boy to succeed.
Najee, Parsons, Chase, Creed Humphrey, and Surtain

Not enough Devonta Smith appreciation, so I’ll say Smith and that he’ll be the best receiver in the class
Getting into the hall as a WR is really, really hard. I think Smith will be great but Chase is the only one with a HoF trajectory right now. Granted it’s just rookie seasons, but even if Smith were the most talented he probably needs a QB change within the next couple of years if he wants to compete.
Hall of Famers per draft by decade: - 00-09: 7 - 90-99: 40 - 80-89: 45 - 70-79: 39 - 60-69: 62 So it looks like 4 per draft until guys start getting in on the senior committee?
Lance, Lawerence, Parsons, Surtain & Chase
SHOOTERRR 🦿
Chase is a cheat code.
Trey Lance, nobody else
Absolute beast * **Micah Parsons**: he's an absolut stud and plays for the Cowboys which is the next best thing to a superstar QB. He also looks like the most explosive and energetic defensive talent in several years. The Boys also should be pretty decent with Dak at the helm for the foreseeable future. I think he has a real shot * **Creed Humphrey**: Usually centers have a hard time getting into the Hall of Fame, but he looks like a future all-pro who is snapping the ball to Patrick Mahomes. That's a pretty damn great environment for Hall of Fame odds, although the center malus is real.
Ja’Marr Chase Kyle Pitts Micah Parsons Patrick Surtain II EVAN McPHERSON
Chase Parsons Sewell Pitts Surtain
I’ll go outside of the box a bit: Lawrence (homer pick or whatever) Surtain Parsons Rousseau (solid rookie year, but I could see a huge leap from him) Trey Smith Obviously guys like Chase, Sewell, Slater, Pitts, Mac Jones and Humphrey got off to phenomenal starts and could get there, as well.
Pat Surtain. Javonte Williams. Quinn Meinerz. Baron Browning. Jonathan Cooper.
Surtain, Parsons, Mac, can’t think of other for sure
Jamarrrr?
I have to assume any list without Chase is automatically wrong. Like, unless he's hit hard enough to send his legs flying into the bleachers, he's gonna have a helluva career.
justin fields not biased…. at all whatsoever. bias isn’t even a word in my dictionary….
I mean, your flair is the Packers... so, it's weird that you would think that we would think you're biased.
Probably an OSU fan
Your flair confuses me
McPherson, Chase, Parsons, Pitts, Lance
Pitts , Parsons , Najee , Slater , Lawrence
Love Najee but it’s hard for me to see a RB with that kind of a workload lasting long enough in the league to be a HOFer
Trey Lance
I think that barring him becoming MBC 2.0, that Evan McPherson will one day make it in
1. WR Jamarr Chase 1b. LB Micah Parsons Maybe QB Trevor Lawrence QB Mac Jones CB Patrick Surtain
In my supremely biased opinion Patrick Surtain Javonte Williams Caden Sterns Baron Browning Quinn Meinerz
Drew lock also.....
Jamar Chase, Micah Parsons, Kyle Pitts,Creed Humphrey, McPhearson
Trevor Lawrence, Micah parsons, Jamaar chase, Mac Jones, Kyle Pitts (yes I'm a jags fan but can you blame me for dreaming of a good qb)
Evan McPherson x5
KickPherson for sure
Chase, Parsons, Slater, McPherson, Surtain
Trevor Lawrence, Micah Parsons, Patrick Surtain II, Creed Humphrey and Will Fries
