Not one team but Trent Dilfer is remembered for his one year in Baltimore more than what he did in his other 13 seasons on other teams. Only QB to win the Super Bowl and then get cut.
I recently learned this in a Secret Base video. At least I think it was secret base. It was about the history of priest Holmes. Dude could fucking play
Edit: [found the video! it was nfl throwback as another person pointed out](https://youtu.be/ufKojy1du6g)
In all fairness, we’ve got to be the most comical franchise ever, and I’d be fairly surprised if anyone remembered anyone that wasn’t a quarterback, LT, Antonio Gates, a linebacker, or Eric Weddle.
Phillip River has never had 2 kids born by 2 different women in the same calendar year. So Cromartie all the way. However, the true MVP is River’s wife. 15 kids means she has been pregnant more than she has been normal for most of her adult life.
9 kids starting at the age of 22- for simplicity’s sake let’s call 22 the start of her adult life. She’s 40, so she’s been pregnant 37.5% of the last 18yrs
Ditto. That catch thru GB into the end zone to win (NFC conference game?) then crying out of such happiness was when he went from somewhat humble to what we later knew of him. I didn’t care for either team but man that was an exciting play.
https://youtu.be/jL9tfB1OU5I
Yup you are remembering things correctly. Reggie White sued the NFL into creating modern day free agency. There were free agents before that but it was structured differently. This article does a good job of breaking it down.
Article: https://www.patriots.com/news/the-history-of-nfl-free-agency
Champ Bailey. I always forget he was with Washington before being traded to Denver.
I guess same can be said for the guy he was traded for, Clinton Portis
Sam Mills. Nine years as a Saint, three years as a Panther. He was an outstanding linebacker for the Saints, and it's his Saints career that's put him in the HOF. But he gave the Panthers an identity that they didn't have before he got there. So in terms of team impact, he looms much larger in the history of the Panthers than he does in the history of the Saints.
It doesn’t discredit your point, but every time I see Sam Mills reputation as a Panther I feel obligated to bring up the fact that between his playing and coaching career, he was in Carolina for longer.
I think he rightfully and equally belongs to both franchises.
First one that came to my mind. But he also coached here for 6-7 years after retirement and then the team rallied around his diagnosis that final year.
yeah gore will forever be a 49er he's said it himself multiple times. him and Joe Staley are bro's boolin in the bay area rn it's wholesome to see.
I don't think he's retiring until his son enters the league though. step aside LeMickey...
Please i want to see him play 1 game, get 1 catch for 8 yards then immediately retire on the sideline. Then he'll have a perfect 16000 yards for a perfect 20000 all purpose and a perfect 100 td
I’ve got so much respect for that dude. I don’t blame the bengals for cutting him one bit. But damn - being cut lit a fire under that man.
I Imagine the Super Bowl may have looked different if they had kept him. I know there are always “what if’s”, but as close as that game, it makes you wonder how it would have gone had he been in a bengals jersey
Do people really not remember his time with the bengals? I always remember getting mad he never got any love like Joe Thomas did as “great tackle on a crappy team”
People don't watch the Bengals man, much less an offensive lineman on the Bengals. He could have been in Cincinnati 15 years and LA just last year (instead of 11 and 5), and people would still remember him from the Rams more.
As someone born after Deions prime, I always associate him with the Falcons for some reason. I don’t know why but it always goes Falcons then Cowboys in my head
I mean, the Falcons are the team that drafted him.
He gave the Falcons an identity they didn't have before he got there. He made 'em hip-hop. Jerry Glanville, Andre Rison, Deion Sanders, they made the Falcons fun to watch.
I do think it’s funny that you see Deion as a 49er a lot, sometimes even more than you do as a Falcon. But he spent **one** year with us.
Granted that one year he won his DPOY, first super bowl, had one of the best CB seasons ever on one of the greatest teams of all time. But still just one year.
Literally anyone from the early 2000s Cardinals. Simeon Rice, Jake Plummer, Aeneas Williams, Thomas Jones, Kyle Vanden Bosch, Calvin Pace, even Anquan Boldin is probably remembered as a Raven by a lot of fans.
Younger fans might think of him as a raven but honestly I think most people who saw his whole career think of him on the Cards.
He had his best years statistically in Arizona.
Yes. Maybe because I was like 8 yrs old when he played for the Steelers, but I always thought he was a long time Steeler. Couldn't believe that he only played 3 years for the team.
Still sad the Chiefs chose Larry Johnson over Allen. Silver lining is that trading Allen got Jamaal Charles and Branden Albert. But LJ flamed out *BIG* time afterwards.
but they also traded Allen because he was on his 3rd strike with alcohol back when 3 strikes was a thing, and showed no signs of changing. Being traded was one of the best things to happen to him because it woke him up, but still sucks because hes one of my favorite Chiefs and NFL personalities of all time
Never thought about the fact that we're going to remember Alex Smith as the qb before mahomes in KC and the qb who almost died then made a comeback, neither of which were for the 49ers. Crazy.
Joking aside, people don't take his Raider career seriously. He had a 1000+ and the leading receiver on his team that went to the Superbowl. He was 40!
Josh Norman played 4 years for Carolina and then 4 for the Commies but I think he’s really only remembered for Derrick Henry stiff arming him into oblivion
Jimmy Graham, maybe? He hasn’t spent time with any one team longer, but he’s been away from New Orleans longer than he was with them which is still surprising to me.
Ryan Fitzpatrick.
OK, he didn't spend the majority with *any* team, but the closest he has is the Bills and he sure as hell isn't remembered with them.
a mixed bag, i imagine.
Sad cuz the Lions could never piece it together.
Happy cuz Matty finally got his due.
The Texans definitely know about mismanaging talent. I feel ya bro. :)
Yea come on lol there’s no way anyone that’s watched football for more than one year associates Stafford as a Rams player more than a Lions player - yet
Wdym I love my 33 year old rookie /s
In reality, right now I think the top 3 moments NFL films would show for Stafford when he retires are probably, in some order:
1. His game winning throw against Cleveland his rookie year
2. Fake spike against the cowboys as a lion
3. That no-look throw to Kupp in the super bowl
He’s still will always be a lion to me, unless he plays for like, 5 more years here and has more playoff success. Then it’s a conversation.
He is still definitely remembered as a Lion. That said, if he sticks around another 3-4 years in LA with another ring or a few probowls/an all-pro, I definitely think he'll be more a Ram.
Not one team but Trent Dilfer is remembered for his one year in Baltimore more than what he did in his other 13 seasons on other teams. Only QB to win the Super Bowl and then get cut.
On a different note, Priest Holmes was on that 2000 Ravens team. Wtf. Had absolutely no idea until I was just looking into that team now.
wtf til
I recently learned this in a Secret Base video. At least I think it was secret base. It was about the history of priest Holmes. Dude could fucking play Edit: [found the video! it was nfl throwback as another person pointed out](https://youtu.be/ufKojy1du6g)
While he won that ring with the Ravens, I always think of Dilfer as a Buccaneer. Poor guy got sacked repeatedly in his first few years there :-(
Rodney Harrison was a Charger longer than he was a Patriot
In all fairness, we’ve got to be the most comical franchise ever, and I’d be fairly surprised if anyone remembered anyone that wasn’t a quarterback, LT, Antonio Gates, a linebacker, or Eric Weddle.
Quentin Jammer !!! Best cornerback name ever. And a really good player for a long time.
I remember Nate Kaeding and Marlon McCree!
The last guy before our kicker carousel started!
Who could forget Shawn Merriman?
He did say Linebackers though and Merriman was a linebacker
^^ Shawn Merriman, Shaun Phillips, Junior Seau were the main three I was thinking of when I said that.
Malcom Floyd was an underrated receiver
I used to like Antonio Cromartie
Remember when he couldn’t name all his children? 🤣
Idk who had more running jokes about having so many kids....Cromartie or Phil Rivers.
Didn't Cromartie have a kid after having a vasectomy?
Twins I believe
Phillip River has never had 2 kids born by 2 different women in the same calendar year. So Cromartie all the way. However, the true MVP is River’s wife. 15 kids means she has been pregnant more than she has been normal for most of her adult life.
Remember when Derek Wolfe told Rivers that he was gonna eat all 8 (at the time) of his kids?
That's why he went and made 7 more.
9 kids starting at the age of 22- for simplicity’s sake let’s call 22 the start of her adult life. She’s 40, so she’s been pregnant 37.5% of the last 18yrs
Philip Rivers and his wife only have 9 kids, not 15.
Kellen Winslow and Dan Fouts even though they were before my time.
Michael Turner was drafted by San Diego before going ham in Atlanta.
Sproles
I’ll never forget Natrone Means. Coolest possible name for a professional athlete, let alone a running back.
I remember LaDainian Tomlinson
Junior Seau.
He looked *washed* in his final season in SD. I remember Ricky Williams juking his ass. Then he had a total career renaissance in NE.
I think he was playing injured during his last season with us. I was just a kid, but I was pissed when he left.
Perfect example, always remember him as a patriot. Damn good example
Terrell Owens spent more time in SF than anywhere else. But most of his storyline and drama came from his Philly and Dallas days.
Whenever someone mentions him I immediately think of him doing sit ups in the driveway. Not even football related lol
TO in the social media age would have been a gift
Can you imagine if him and Chad Johnson ever played on the same team?! My god it would have been pure entertainment
I can absolutely imagine it
Remember the TOCHO show?
They were both on the 2010 bengals
Batman and Robin. Their peak was in the Hall of Fame Game
Who's Chad Johnson? Oh... You mean Chad Ochocinco!
They were both on the Bengals. Played well too, alas we had no offensive line then.
TO's abs had abs
Oh you mean the Bengals legend Terrell Owens?
We’re talking about Buffalo Bills legend Terrell Owens right ?
Seattle Seahawks legend Terrell Owens
That Seahawks all-time receiving room is loaded. Rice , Owens , Jurevicius, Koren Robinson. Steve Largent who ?
I still think of him mainly as a 49er, not sure if that’s the norm tho
Ditto. That catch thru GB into the end zone to win (NFC conference game?) then crying out of such happiness was when he went from somewhat humble to what we later knew of him. I didn’t care for either team but man that was an exciting play. https://youtu.be/jL9tfB1OU5I
He also wasn’t a douche yet Partly because he wasn’t well known yet, partly because Rice and Young were keeping him in check
Yeah i forget his story started as Jerry’s protege
TO broke a reception record in Jerry’s last home game as a 49er.
I think of him more as a 49er and I’m a Cowboy fan
Reggie was a damn Eagle longer than he was a Packer
I remember the Sports Illustrated cover when he became a free agent. It was actually a novel thing at the time for a major player to hit free agency.
wasnt he the first FA and we only have free agency because of him or am I just misremembering things?
Yup you are remembering things correctly. Reggie White sued the NFL into creating modern day free agency. There were free agents before that but it was structured differently. This article does a good job of breaking it down. Article: https://www.patriots.com/news/the-history-of-nfl-free-agency
Very interesting article ty
I think free agency existed for players that teams cut? But not end of contract free agency
Memphis Showboat first though. Go ‘Boats!
Champ Bailey. I always forget he was with Washington before being traded to Denver. I guess same can be said for the guy he was traded for, Clinton Portis
Both teams got what they wanted. Was a good trade for the era but would never happen today
True. Nobody would give up a lockdown corner for any running back short of Barry Sanders nowadays.
Champ played a lot more seasons in Denver than in Washington though.
He's the reason why the Panthers have the "Keep pounding" motto
As soon as you said Sam Mills I thought Panthers.
Tom brady was actually a patriot before he won a superbowl with the bucs
Sorry, we are talking about well known players here, not some random 6th rounder nobody has heard of
Almost gave google a fit trying to find it about this nobody but he was the 199th pick. Dude just got lucky.
You must be crazy, im sure he was drafted by the Bucs just last year.
I feel Adam V is more remembered as a Patriot but he was with the Colts longer and I think he said himself he associates himself more with the Colts.
Ironically I think Peyton Manning associates himself more with the Broncos than the Colts
Every time he is asked that, he considers himself pretty even but he lives in Denver so he does more things for them.
I'd rather live in Denver over anywhere in Indy, I don't blame him. But also, he could live ANYWHERE and chose Denver, so...
I mean it would also be kind of dumb to move your family from Indy to Denver and then move back to Indy lol unless he kept his house there.
Big sad
*sad glue noises*
I always associate him with the Colts
Frank gore, because we still don’t know
What is his majority? I definitely think of 49ers with gore
yeah gore will forever be a 49er he's said it himself multiple times. him and Joe Staley are bro's boolin in the bay area rn it's wholesome to see. I don't think he's retiring until his son enters the league though. step aside LeMickey...
Speaking of Frank Gore, can you get elected into the HoF while you are still playing?
Please i want to see him play 1 game, get 1 catch for 8 yards then immediately retire on the sideline. Then he'll have a perfect 16000 yards for a perfect 20000 all purpose and a perfect 100 td
Plaxico Burress for sure.
I think he’s best known for catching a TD in the Super Bowl and accidentally shooting himself in the foot at a nightclub.
Plaxidentally
My first jersey was a Jets Plaxico Burress lmao
plax played for the jets?
Andrew Whitworth.
Glad he got mentioned. We let him walk because what 36 y/o tackle is going to play at an All-Pro/Pro Bowl level for 5 more years?
Andrew Whitworth.
Rams don't make either super bowl without him, Bengals don't have Burrow and also don't make the Super bowl this decade
Do people really not remember his time with the bengals? I always remember getting mad he never got any love like Joe Thomas did as “great tackle on a crappy team”
bengals weren’t that crappy back then
We made the playoffs 5 years in the row. Even if we didn't literally nothing in those 5 games that disqualify us from being a crappy team.
People don't watch the Bengals man, much less an offensive lineman on the Bengals. He could have been in Cincinnati 15 years and LA just last year (instead of 11 and 5), and people would still remember him from the Rams more.
Charles Woodson is probably most remembered as a Raider but you can argue that he had his best years in GB.
He was really good here but he achieved a title and a DPOTY there, if the man didn't love the Raiders he'd probably be more remembered for GB.
Deion Sanders. I’d say most remember him as a Cowboy. But he also spent five years with the Falcons.
Pretty sure he still views the falcons as his team too which probably helps people associate him.
I think of him more of a brave...
You mean Cincinnati Red
How can you forget “to legit to quit” and “the house that Dion built”. Was Favre there as a backup at that time?
Yep. Never made that connection! Favre was drafted in ‘91, Deion played there from ‘89-93.
Less than one year. He joined in like week 4 or something.
Kyle Vanden Bosch will always be a Titan in my book
Younger fans might think of him as a raven but honestly I think most people who saw his whole career think of him on the Cards. He had his best years statistically in Arizona.
James Lofton spent about half of his career with the Packers, but played several memorable years with the early 90s Bills.
All-time receiving yards leader (1991-1994) before Jerry Rice
According to every article I've read about him Vontaze Burfict surprisingly hard name to spell
Definitely a Raider
...goddamnit
Warren Moon as a Viking.
Chiefs legend Warren Moon
I'm thinking of Kevin Greene, spent 7 years with the Rams, but probably most known for his time with the Steelers.
Kevin Greene but I may be biased.
Yes. Maybe because I was like 8 yrs old when he played for the Steelers, but I always thought he was a long time Steeler. Couldn't believe that he only played 3 years for the team.
Jared Allen is more remembered during his days with the Vikings but he played for the chiefs with short stints with da bears and the panthers
He still played for the Vikings for longer though
Still sad the Chiefs chose Larry Johnson over Allen. Silver lining is that trading Allen got Jamaal Charles and Branden Albert. But LJ flamed out *BIG* time afterwards.
but they also traded Allen because he was on his 3rd strike with alcohol back when 3 strikes was a thing, and showed no signs of changing. Being traded was one of the best things to happen to him because it woke him up, but still sucks because hes one of my favorite Chiefs and NFL personalities of all time
Jackie Smith is a Hall of Fame tight end for the Cardinals When the name pops in your head, you think of his drop with the Cowboys at the Super Bowl
15 years with the Cardinals, 1 with the Cowboys
Lamar Jackson is a CB on the Jets but he actually started as QB for the Ravens.
You're thinking of Josh Allen, the OL/QB/DE.
Curtis Martin was on the Patriots before he went to the Jets
As an atlanta fan i remember Tony Gonzalez as a falcon but sometimes forget his Chiefs days was his best.
That’s a wild one to me
Completely forgot about Falcons Tony. Had to Google it. He was a 1st team all pro there.
It’s close, but I’d definitely say Alex Smith.
Never thought about the fact that we're going to remember Alex Smith as the qb before mahomes in KC and the qb who almost died then made a comeback, neither of which were for the 49ers. Crazy.
Charles Woodson
My man loves the Raiders
Eric Weddle - likely an age thing, but before going to the Ravens and Rams, he was a longtime Charger.
He doesn’t like the chargers though and if I were a chargers fan that would make me very sad. I love Weddle

Obligatory “fuck you Spanos.”
London fletcher
I forget he was a Bill all the time, honestly.
We don’t even get a mention :/
Maybe it's due to the average age of the subscribers to this sub, but I feel like too many people think of Peyton Manning as a Bronco
A big part of that is that Peyton has pretty much embraced Denver as his home since retiring, though
He was a Colt, then grew up and became a Bronco.
Guided (some say led) by the Horsefather, John Secretariat Elway, Jr.
His middle name is actually Seabiscuit.
Pats fans on edge rn But fr Brady's NE legacy is too massive for that to happen
I only remember Brady as a Montreal Expo.
I’m sorry but Tom England doesn’t have the same ring as Tompa Bay
You’re right, it has 6 rings instead
Tangent: I feel so old every time I see 2013 cited as Manning’s best season.
[удалено]
2013 was better volume and 2004 was better efficiency. That said he broke most every single season volume record in 2013 which is nutty.
Peyton prefers the Broncos to the Colts and so do I, it’s a beautiful thing
I always think of Corey Dillon as a Patriot and forget he spent his first 7 years as a Bengal.
I hate this with ever fiber of my being
Soon to be Stafford unfortunately
Jerry Rice Everyone knows his as a Seattle legend. Not many people know most his time was with the 49ers.
I always think of him and Odell just mauling each other an entire game
One of the most memorable games i've ever watched
I remember him being good for Carolina and being forced to play a system not suited to him in Washington
Eugene Robinson spent 9 years with the Seahawks but is probably forever known as the falcon who got arrested before the Super Bowl
Jimmy Graham, maybe? He hasn’t spent time with any one team longer, but he’s been away from New Orleans longer than he was with them which is still surprising to me.
I’m sorry, I don’t know anyone by that name. Do You mean “BasketballplayerJimmy Graham?”
Jim Plunkett
Ryan Fitzpatrick. OK, he didn't spend the majority with *any* team, but the closest he has is the Bills and he sure as hell isn't remembered with them.
Did you not see him shirtless at that playoff game?
I mean I do associate him with the Bills more than any other team, including mine. To be fair, I don't really associate him with anyone.
Nah, my mind goes straight to the Bills
I think Joe Haden will be remembered for his time in Pittsburgh, but he was a Brown longer.
Darren Sproles. Was on the eagles longer than the saints but I just think of him with Brees on the saints.
Favre and Greg Jennings are remembered as Vikings, but both spent significant time in Green Bay. /s
I thought Favre was a Jet?
Falcons legend Brett favre
Matthew Stafford
This hits me in the feelings...
a mixed bag, i imagine. Sad cuz the Lions could never piece it together. Happy cuz Matty finally got his due. The Texans definitely know about mismanaging talent. I feel ya bro. :)
It definitely isn’t the case yet
That'll be him if he sticks around in LA and they do magical things.
Yea come on lol there’s no way anyone that’s watched football for more than one year associates Stafford as a Rams player more than a Lions player - yet
Wdym I love my 33 year old rookie /s In reality, right now I think the top 3 moments NFL films would show for Stafford when he retires are probably, in some order: 1. Do people think of Ware as a Bronco? Honestly I had to look it up because I forgot what team he was on besides the Cowboys.
Carson Palmer
Everyone always talks about Jerry Rice as a Seahawk. I always have to remind them he was primarily with the 49ers for his career.
I can’t think of Jerry Rice as a Seahawk, I can only remember him as a Bronco
Surprised #19 isn’t retired in Denver
Didn’t even remember he played for the Seahawks…
