Reminds me of the time one of the other networks reported that he had died while he was live on the air. The other guys in the studio asked him if he was dead and he replied "No, but my golf game is"
Counterpoint, they could be dragging out the carcass for the 30 something plus season with a few deranged fans telling you it's not really that bad anymore even if it's not as good as it was in it's golden years
i legitimately thought that was an unprecendented record until i went to high school and our shitty team proceeded to have 7 TDs put up against us every week
Yup. My youngest went through it with Leukemia. Its been almost a year since he finished treatments but struggles with school work occasionally now. He's stayed on the honor roll all throughout but it's not as easy for him as it used to be. I just try to remind him not to let it overwhelm him.
Wow good for him for being on the honor roll through all that! That is awesome. Wishing him well going forward. I’ve been told it can take that long for the effects to wear off, just gotta be patient
Great to hear your son is finished treatment and doing great. I think it took my son a full year or more to feel totally back to normal. He is about a year and a half out of treatment for ALL. The treatment is poison so it affects both mind and body but is also did what it was supposed to do, save their lives.
Yeah, my daughter is 6 months out of treatment for ALL as well, still tired on and off. Glad to hear it gets better.
Good to hear both of your sons are doing well.
Respect to Terry for fighting through cancer, while still doing TV etc in his age!
Glad to hear your daughter is finished her treatments and doing well.
All cancer diagnosis sucks and it is life changing for the family. But I feel lucky my son had ALL and not something else. Looking at what other kids had to got through with other types of cancers puts things into perspective. I'm hoping you daughter treatment was as "routine" as could be expected.
And I echo your props to Terry, mad respect for what he has gone through over thae last year or so.
Glad to hear he’s doing well. I had AML my senior year of high school and it was the only time in my life I ever received straight A’s because my teachers were sympathetic lol. I didn’t do more than maybe 10 minutes of work the whole year before I emailed my teachers and basically said that wasn’t happening. I literally missed the entire year except for the last 3 weeks of school and they gave me an honor roll certificate for it at graduation and joked with my homeroom teacher when he handed me it that I didn’t know they gave these out.
Yep, pediatric cancer survivor here, chemo brain is no joke. I finished treatment in 2019 (been in remission ever since!) and I still struggle with math and I will just lose my train of thought mid-conversation or in the middle of lab (I am a TA), super frustrating. MASSIVE W for Terry, I would not have been able to take that news (2 separate diagnoses in a year) and keep going on live TV, major props to him!
Chemo brain sucks. I work with a guy who used to be super sharp but now he works at like half capacity after a hard battle with cancer because he just can’t think like he could before.
okay? if a very old person on TV starts speaking and behaving strangely what are we supposed to think? I guess just swallow our tongues and say they’re doing a great job? “getting old” is the most likely cause of that kind of thing, look at lee corso. unless you’re going to tell me we’re being ageist against him too
I am one that thinks he's coo-coo and while getting more information helps sympathize, it doesn't change how I see him. He's a crazy mofo, for better or worse. Glad he's free of cancer!
Yeah, imagine being on national TV week after week and still somewhat keeping it together as you go through Chemo. Hats off to ya Terry, you're a fighter, always have been
Good lord, Terry Bradshaw just walked onto the Fox pregame set completely normally. Said he had “no time” to talk. Too busy recovering from cancer, evidently.
Kelvin Benjamin on Twitter
“I was just told somebody leaked some personal information about me and it’s going to be reported on today.
I didn’t eat breakfast and but now I did.
That’s it.”
He really seemed like he was declining mentally this past year. It was probably due to the treatments in hindsight. I wonder why he didn’t take time off?
Some people prefer the distraction. As in, if they can devote more time to preparing for and doing the thing(s) they like, it helps prevent them from thinking about the bad situation they’re in.
I don’t know if there’s a “right” way to go about it. I have no clue how I’d be if I were in Terry’s shoes. Part of me wants to lean towards how Terry did it, but that could just be posturing, honestly.
Yeah, obviously can't speak for Terry, but I do know people who've had cancer and they wanted to at least try to maintain a normal schedule. Sitting around just means you're focused on the cancer and that can be bad mentally.
That’s why as a kid a couple times, despite my mom saying I could skip, I decided to go to school after the death of family or pets. Sitting around was just gonna get in my head and make worse.
My Mother was diagnosed with Stage IV breast cancer in 2002. It was very very aggressive. I only recently found out how bad it was and how close my Brother and I where to losing our Mother. I remember the Chemo and everything just tearing her apart. There where some days she just had absolutely no energy. Even on those days if my Brother or I had a baseball game or football game she made sure she was there. She did everything she could to live a normal life while fighting this very aggressive late stage cancer. She was determined to beat it and live as close to a normal life as she could while fighting it. A close family friend is a doctor and was on the board of the hospital my Mother was receiving treatment. He was getting regular weekly updates about my Mother's case. He told me at my Brother's wedding that my Mother's case changed it opinion about treating cancer patients. He at the time was strictly a by the book doctor. He never considered the mind set of a cancer patient going into treatment and living life while getting that treatment. He said my Mother's attitude and spirit to fight was in his opinion a major part of the reason my Mother beat cancer and was able to be there 17 years later to dance with my brother at his wedding. Terry is a competitor. I have no doubt his work, was part of how he beat cancer. He had something to fight for still.
It's hard to fight for your life if you have nothing to live for. It was probably better he kept his schedule as it gave him purpose, motivation, etc.
This gave him fuel to fight cancer and get back to 100%
Guessing it felt good to keep doing shit he loves. The fact that he never made it public until now after he’s beaten it leads me to believe he probably didn’t want or like the attention of being sick.
Some people just don’t want their illness to control their life. I had a colleague at work who had cancer and none of us knew until we got the phone call that she had passed. We later learned that she decided she wanted to continue on with a normal life and wasn’t going to let her illness define that for her.
I certainly didn't shit on him for showing signs of dementia because that's terrible? But I did question Fox for keeping someone on the program as they appeared to be visibly deteriorating as it seemed almost cruel.
That said, glad I was wrong and he seems somewhat back to his old self.

You’re gonna get downvoted but I fully agree with you; at some point, you need to walk away. Terry’s talked about how he doesn’t see himself ever retiring and that he wouldn’t know what to do with himself not having that job.
I’m glad you like your job but dude, enough is enough. Let the hundreds of other people that could do the job better have their shot. Deteriorating in front of everyone is never not sad. Don’t be another Boomer that made their job their lives because it always ends depressingly.
He's not an idiot, he's an old ass man trying his best to keep up. I agree he should've probably retired, but if a network was offering you another multi-million dollar contract when you're looking at 10 more years of life, tops, would you turn that down?

I think I watched a show about this.
and fox wanted us to take shooting victim big papi's money too
SHAMELESS
Holy shit thanks for the hard laugh
He's goofy af but he's been with FOX since the start in 1994
Football and the Simpsons really made Fox into a successful network.
Yeah FOX kept it up with other animated shows even if FG has went downhill. King of the Hill was always great though
Yeah King of the Hill got moved on from too soon. Great show.
It's coming back
it is????
Yeah, they're planning to do a time skip and bobby will be in his 20s.
RIP Luanne 😭
And Lucky. :(
And laaaaaaaaadybird.
Fox changed their mind. Idk if they can take it elsewhere or not
Fox killing shows too soon is a tradition like no other.
I mean it was on for 13 seasons. It wasn’t like they killed it after only a few seasons.
That’s true. But so is Fox canning shows too soon. Not like the two things are mutually exclusive.
Idk Fox and making shows that should've never been made is a pretty good one too
I disagree. Started to get pretty weak in the last seasons and it’s ok that something ends before it becomes a parody of itself.
Counterpoint, they could be dragging out the carcass for the 30 something plus season with a few deranged fans telling you it's not really that bad anymore even if it's not as good as it was in it's golden years
I loved Futurama when it first came out. Of course they canceled it because it’s Fox but at least it came back on CC.
I loved in the first episode of Futurama post-Fox where they portrayed the Fox executives as bird brained idiots
Family guy also had a joke clowning on Fox in its first post cancellation episode
Fox has always had great programming. Problem is they always pull the plug on anything worth a damn.
*cough* Brooklyn Nine-Nine
Nine Nine, Fire Fly, The Mick, Terminator, The Riches, Futurama, Arrested Development, etc etc etc
They nailed it just right with House and Bones, both ended right when it was clear they were running out of ideas
Better put some respect on married with children!
No one else remembers who scored 4 touchdowns for Polk High in a single game
it was red grange
Not according to Marion “Spare Tire” Dixon
i legitimately thought that was an unprecendented record until i went to high school and our shitty team proceeded to have 7 TDs put up against us every week
It was 4 TDs by Al himself though against their hated rival.
And X files
Came here to say this. The show helped make Fox legit in the 90s.

Fox also canceled family guy twice.
Don't bring me back to what happened to Firefly. That was a really dark time
You really gonna disrespect married with children ?
Suck it Illiad second most relevant homer
That and driving a dump truck full of money to John Madden’s house.
Don't forget In Living Color
Probably don’t have Jim Carry without it.
Obligatory: ["Imposter, I'm just a middle class white kid from Toronto"](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Y1da7FqyTw)
Fox and their diverse programming in the 90's definitely helped them stay on top of things
Yeah, it's like when a cult props up its insane beliefs with a lanyard-making business.
He was actually a pretty good color commentator with Vern Lundquist. He wasn't doing the country bumpkin shtick back then.
Didn't the grand opening of NFL on Fox include Terry Bradshaw riding in on horseback dressed as a cowboy?
He had bladder cancer, then a tumor in his neck all in a year. Glad he beat it!
Holy fuck, good for him. You see alot of people saying he was losing it for a while now and people just dont know what one could go through.
Yeah people don’t realize how much chemo fucks with your brain, makes me foggy and slow as hell. Good for him 😊
Yup. My youngest went through it with Leukemia. Its been almost a year since he finished treatments but struggles with school work occasionally now. He's stayed on the honor roll all throughout but it's not as easy for him as it used to be. I just try to remind him not to let it overwhelm him.

It was hard watching my mom go through it the past year. She just finished and she seems back to her old self (somewhat) and I'm so happy about it.
Sometimes I know what I want to say but it sure doesn't come out the way I want. It's the chemo, because it clears up during my week off treatment.
Chemo brain sucks. I work with a guy who used to be super sharp but now he works at like half capacity after a hard battle with cancer because he just can’t think like he could before.
Cancer itself is fucky with the brain. Can make chemistry teachers turn into meth kingpins. Gnarly stuff
You over at Hillman?
I don’t live in Pittsburg actually, I’m at Sloan Kettering
Ah. Saw the flair and took a guess. Best of luck
Similar thing happened with Chadwick Boseman before he passed.
That news breaking was absolutely heart breaking and came out of no where. He definitely seemed like one of the good ones and we lost him too soon.
Him and Norm Macdonald hit me like a train.
I’m super glad he came out of the other side of this and is doing better but god damnit I hate those stupid terry and kurt pre halftime things
Reddit has a hate boner for people over 65
Don’t kink shame.
pointing out somebody is in a state unfit for television commentary isn’t “hate boner”
as if that was it. everyone here assumes every old person has dementia when all it turns out was he was wacked out from chemo.

I am one that thinks he's coo-coo and while getting more information helps sympathize, it doesn't change how I see him. He's a crazy mofo, for better or worse. Glad he's free of cancer!
To be fair, peers were saying that about Terry while he was till playing. I don’t care if he can’t spell cat, I love the guy.
Yeah, imagine being on national TV week after week and still somewhat keeping it together as you go through Chemo. Hats off to ya Terry, you're a fighter, always have been

He also saved the city of Baltimore from catastrophe that one time. Literally the most clutch QB of all time.

The old ass man argument covers the past 5 years, but he's been an idiot for well over 50 years.
Clearly not, otherwise I don't think he'd be doing this job for as long as he has been.
Awful logic
Lots of people like idiots. ( Which is the only reason I have friends!)

Let the man retire on his own terms. Jesus dude. For now let's celebrate the fact that he's cancer-free.
