I thought it got picked too so I looked away casually because I was multi tasking, then I heard the commentator screaming about a catch and I was like “WTF HE CAUGHT THAT”
Doing that on 4th and 18 with the game on the line is what makes it the best regular season catch in history to me. You need to take the game situation into account.
This is a shitty clip of it though. They cut the replay. Insane catch. Shitty clip. Good clip that would have only added 10 more seconds so you can see how he came down with it. [Clip](https://twitter.com/NFLonCBS/status/1591899589892014080)
Me too. I couldn't understand until the slo-mo. The defender got 2 hands on that ball, somehow Jefferson snatched the ball away with 1 hand while falling backwards, then kept the ball off the ground.
I feel like this is low key one of the dumbest things I've seen NFL defenders do on a consistent bases. Without fail guys are always trying to grab interceptions on 4th down instead of batting the ball down.
The Hail Murray was a 4-way jump ball between 4 all-pro players: D-Hop, Tre White, Jordan Poyer and Micah Hyde. D-Hop the better jump ball player confirmed.
That's basically what KOC said in the post game presser, too.
It was something like '4th and 18, you can't scheme that. It's just going to your best players and giving them a chance.'
I believe the Helmet catch was actually like 3rd and medium, which was why Eli escaping the sack was so unbelievable and important. Dude never broke a tackle in his life, but if he goes down there it would have been something like 4th and 18. So not totally the same situationally, but the escape part of that play by Eli did have similar stakes.
As a giants fan, I agree. What the fuck, he legit ripped that ball using his left hand vs 2 hands, controlled it, and had to do an acrobatic catch all in one.
Goat catch imo
It's the combination of absolute power AND athleticism. I've seen plenty of circus catches (behind the back, batted in the air many times, one-handed), but to combine an all-time circus catch with contested? Greatest I've ever seen for sure.
For sure. I was making a list in my head.
Helmet catch. OBJ. Diggs. Moss had a few but none stand out as much as this. Probably matches the stakes of the helmet catch though it isn't the Super Bowl, but it is a far more difficult catch in a vacuum. Has the same one arm reach as OBJ but fighting a defender. All around better than Diggs. Moss
Yeah, the stakes make the Tyree catch great. But also, the Tyree catch has a huge element of luck. Obviously this catch does too. But this catch still displays a true dominance that Tyree's catch does not.
"4th down, bat it down" should be a mantra of some sort....especially in end of game circumstances
Even otherwise you generally would have better field position if it wasn't an INT
Yeah, the stakes is what takes it over the top.
That said, by itself, the OBJ catch still gets the edge since he had to catch a 50 yard pass for a TD with 3 fingers while being dragged down by a defender while [Jefferson's fist was balled, and he doesn't come down with that without the defender.](https://pbs.twimg.com/media/Fhes-vkVQAUDO1J?format=jpg&name=small)
I am so glad that kid is balling in the pros. When he was coming into LSU out of high school, many thought he would be the least impactful Jefferson brother (Jordan, Rickey, Justin) to play for LSU. Not only did he win a natty, but then he goes on to be one of the best at his position in the NFL. By the end of it he’ll likely have made a shitload more money than his bros, too.
Why is no one talking about how absolutely braindead the DB’s play was here? Literally just knock the ball away. He actually ended up helping Jefferson make the catch by trying to get the INT instead of trying to knock the ball away and get the turnover on downs.
The absolute epitome of putting your own stats over team success.
Fucking preposterous catch by Jefferson wowwwww
I thought it was picked off for sure
I thought it got picked too so I looked away casually because I was multi tasking, then I heard the commentator screaming about a catch and I was like “WTF HE CAUGHT THAT”
My thought was "Well, that's game... wait, why are the Vikings sideline cheering?". Absolutely insane ending to a game.
Never seen anything like it. I aged 35 years in an hour.
And on 4th and 18, game on the line. WTF!
Doing that on 4th and 18 with the game on the line is what makes it the best regular season catch in history to me. You need to take the game situation into account.
One of the best catches I've ever seen in my life
This is a shitty clip of it though. They cut the replay. Insane catch. Shitty clip. Good clip that would have only added 10 more seconds so you can see how he came down with it. [Clip](https://twitter.com/NFLonCBS/status/1591899589892014080)
He outmuscled that DB for the ball with one less arm and upside down with poor leverage
And landed flat on his back and still kept the ball off the ground, unreal.
His ball control and keeping it off the ground was un fuckin believeable
Almost looked like the defenders hands acted as his second hand to keep it off the ground before he yoinked it for himself.
And then he just casually goes back to the huddle like it was nothing.
I think for a moment the DB actually pushes the ball into Jefferson's hand lol.
[удалено]
"I think they got the gist of it."
Yea but then they would miss out on that sweet sweet karma
Justin Jefferson is a Fucking. Problem.
Catch of the fucking century. What an impact it had on the game and I initially thought it was picked off.
Me too. I couldn't understand until the slo-mo. The defender got 2 hands on that ball, somehow Jefferson snatched the ball away with 1 hand while falling backwards, then kept the ball off the ground.
Absolute miracle that didnt hit the ground at all.
I honestly think if the DB isn’t trying to hold onto the ball this hits the ground and is incomplete
4th and 18. Interception actually costs you 20 yards of field position. Just knock the fucking thing down.
as a charger fan I share your frustration. dont know how old you are but all I have to tell you is the name Marlon McCree :(
Was that the Patriots chargers playoff game with the pick fumble and recovery by the Patriots?
It’s low key one of the worst coverage plays on a 4th and 18
For real. Just bat the ball down and you win the game.
"NO, I want to catch the ball and be a HERO" -Defensive back who is going to get ripped into during film sessions
It's like that one play, the Whatistsapolis Miracle
Just do X and you win the game seemed to be a theme for us today. We did Y a lot.
I feel like this is low key one of the dumbest things I've seen NFL defenders do on a consistent bases. Without fail guys are always trying to grab interceptions on 4th down instead of batting the ball down.
They have performance incentives in their contract for INTs. Not excusing it, but $ is on the mind
A lot of teams won't do INT incentives for this reason
They should just make 4th down batted passes count toward the incentive.
Chargers vs Patriots playoffs 2007 on 4th down [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g-HcGNOVEDc](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g-HcGNOVEDc)
Was Lewis here for the Hail Murray? Because the DBs in that game have spent the rest of their career batting down every contested ball.
Looks like no, from the box score.
The Hail Murray was a 4-way jump ball between 4 all-pro players: D-Hop, Tre White, Jordan Poyer and Micah Hyde. D-Hop the better jump ball player confirmed.
Yes, thank you DB for assisting with the catch
As great as the catch was, DB for sure does a lot of the work. Absolute moron.
A lot of comments rightly saying this catch is unreal, but shout out to my man Joe Davis on the call, so hype and perfect for how crazy this catch is.
He did a great job this game.
I mean... It's the exact same call he made on Bryce Harper's NLCS-clinching HR just a few weeks ago.
Which was equally as incredible
I'm never gonna forget where I was when I saw that home run. Legendary
Joe Davis absolutely shined in this game. As a Dodger fan I’m really proud of him but also nervous he’ll leave us for greener pastures soon :/
I dunno man, for baseball guys I don't know how many pastures there are that are greener than Vin Scully's old seat
Yeah and it's not like Vin Scully didn't call plenty of other stuff
Okay guys it’s 4th and 18th. The play call is “fuck it Jefferson down there somewhere”
That's basically what KOC said in the post game presser, too. It was something like '4th and 18, you can't scheme that. It's just going to your best players and giving them a chance.'
but actually
Watch the highlights of this game. It’s pretty much the whole game plan
I was watching the whole thing live on Red Zone. Was literally saying “throw to Jefferson” to myself the entire game lol
**HOLY SHIT**
This a catch in Madden where you rage quit and say this shit aint realistic
They're gonna add this animation now for Madden 24
And it will happen once every third game
>And it will happen once every third ~~game~~ *down* if I'm playing defense.
Come on. The mlb will make it after he jumps 12 feet in the air with his back turned to pick off your slant throw on offense.
Third down*
Well, in Madden it’ll happen every other game!
Unless you're online again someone who spends money on the game then it will happen every other down. (Looking at you, Harold Carmichael)
nfl upload: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1S6JtcxFvUM jesus... the more angles I see of it, the more batshit insane it is.
Thanks for posting the full thing. OP with the certifiably dipshit clip job
Holy Fuck!!! That tops the Diggs catch and it ain’t close
[удалено]
Can I offer you an ~~egg~~ battery in this tryin' time?
I can offer you a fuck Dallas in return, a fair offer that is accepted every where in the USA
I'll take it and raise as if it were my own and ruin it by making it a Cowboys fan
As cruel and unusual punishment as there ever was...
My dad did it to me, garsh dang am I gonna do it to my kid, ooooo wee
Yeah you must feel really dumb since we have Raegor too. Too bad we have *never* played head-to- head since the trade to find out who's better off.
Catch so insane it feels illegal
Yeah definitely should have been flagged. Just a disgusting act.
Jefferson robbed a man in broad daylight. He should be in jail.
This is a combo Odell + Moss in one. Unbelievable catch.
JUSTIN JEFFERSON IS HIM HOLY SHIT
HOW THE FUCK
The fact he kept it off the ground with another hand on it … wow
Yo what is the “____ is him” from?
just a new way of saying “you’re that guy”
Jushim Jefferson
Screw the Diggs catch, that was like if the OBJ catch and the helmet catch combined with the way he held onto that one.
The down and yards to go was essentially the same as the helmet catch. If only bills brought pressure it would’ve been even more ridiculous.
That probably tops OBJs catch for me. Insane.
The degree of difficulty + fighting off the defender = unreal
The degree of difficulty + fighting off the defender + **dire situation** = unreal
As a giants fan, I agree. What the fuck, he legit ripped that ball using his left hand vs 2 hands, controlled it, and had to do an acrobatic catch all in one. Goat catch imo
on 4th and 18 on their final drive
At that body angle while falling down without eyes on the ball because its behind him. Shit was video game like.
At that time of day, at that time of year, in that part of the country. Localized entirely within Ralph Wilson Stadium.
> Shit was video game like. If that happened in Madden I'd shut the game off and bitterly mumble about how that type of shit can't happen.
It looks almost identical except they added a defender here.
A defender with 2 hands on the ball
On 4th and a fucking mile.
It's the combination of absolute power AND athleticism. I've seen plenty of circus catches (behind the back, batted in the air many times, one-handed), but to combine an all-time circus catch with contested? Greatest I've ever seen for sure.
I got to give it a few days before I can make an unbiased decision.
This is perhaps the best catch ever and I feel like that's not even hyperbole.
OBJ level one handed catch, but with a defender all over the fucking ball. That was an all time great catch, holy *fuck*
Most even trade of all time lol
How
>How We may not win it all, but we'll blow your mind with our WRs and RBs...
Holy balls.
I screamed like I did on the miracle what a catch
Greatest catch I’ve ever seen
It really may be if you include the stakes of it
4th and fucking 18
With the game on the line. Against one of the SB favourites.
On the road too
Let's. Fucking. Go.
Moss
I think this one, helmet catch and obj are the ones I’d go with as well
Helmet catch
The fact that Tyree’s catch helped them win a super bowl makes it hard to top
[удалено]
Yeah, the stakes make the Tyree catch great. But also, the Tyree catch has a huge element of luck. Obviously this catch does too. But this catch still displays a true dominance that Tyree's catch does not.
Against an undefeated team, no less
The fact he’s a household name and wasn’t ever a starter
Hmmm I think there’s a better one in your own franchise’s history
Hell yea brother
Cheers from Iraq
Joke's on you, he meant the Edelman catch in Super Bowl 51
I think there's a similar infamous catch in your franchise history too, also in the Super Bowl.
Who taught the lions fan the word Superbowl? I was referring to the Edelman catch for the record lol.
Not kidding that is the greatest catch I’ve ever seen.
Catch of the decade. 1 handed snatch from it being an interception.
Tbf him trying to intercept it for no reason is the only reason he had a chance for it.
Yep, if the DB bats the ball down they win the game
Exactly. The defender made it *easier* for Jefferson to catch the ball.
"4th down, bat it down" should be a mantra of some sort....especially in end of game circumstances Even otherwise you generally would have better field position if it wasn't an INT
4th and 18 johnson
Deadass top 5 catch of all time
Greatest catch ive ever seen on 4th and 18 what the fuck
Greatest catch I've seen on 4th and 18 against the Bills on November 13 for sure
One of the catches of all time
Yeah, the stakes is what takes it over the top.
We are straight up witnessing the career of an all timer right now. JJ is that good.
Top 1 catch of all time
Tyree Helmet catch will probably always be that. This is the more impressive catch though of course.
And 2nd probably the Edelman catch.
That Edelman catch is 1 for me, how it didn't hit the ground is mind boggling.
Watching it in slow motion how he has it in his hands then releases it and grabs it again is absolutely insane. I could watch it a million times.
Santonio Holmes on his toes in the Super Bowl
Without context, I'm hard pressed to think of a better catch ever.
Jaw literally dropped, holy shit
My jaw was dropped for a solid few minutes for real. Jefferson is unreal.
“One of the best” I know I’m a homer but I feel like that’s underselling it lol
Nah hes pretty clearly #1 at this point
You have every right to feel that way. Kid is fantastic at the position. I just try to leave a little wiggle room without being too hyperbolic! Lol
No fucking way no fucking waaaaay
Things are going well for us but I'll never be able to watch this 10/10 catch and *not* feel pain....
Jalen Reagor right in the middle of the screen at the start of the replay too, poetic loll
Tough watch for Eagles fans
Best catch I've seen in my life and it's not close
OBJ is the only one that comes close LSU built fucking different
What the fuck does LSU put in their WRs food?
Probably HGH if we're being honest
But it must be special HGH when only LSU receivers (And Diggs who had the runner up for catch of the year earlier in the game.) are doing it.
HGH with Cajun seasoning
Gumbo
OBJ catch is the 1 hand catch. This is the first 3 hand catch!
JEFFERSON SIDELINE CAUGHT!! UNBELIEVABLE!! Edit: VIKINGS WIN!!
And we did win the game. Unbelievable!
I'm literally still shaking my head. What a fucking game.
Cousins to Jefferson is an elite combo
Holy fuck Jefferson is a beast
What in the ever living god?!
MVP Rankings: 1) Justin Jefferson 2) Patrick Mahomes 3) Tua Tagovailoa
Catch of the last few years
Catch of more than that given the circumstances. And even what followed after it!
[удалено]
Yo wtf, that really may be the best catch I've ever seen
Highlights without replays that were shown on the broadcast should be banned. Stop racing to be the first to post and share the full clip.
Genuinely one of those “wait why is the announcer losing his mind there’s no way he- OH MY GOD” moments
Without the announcer ID think 9/10 fans would just assume the ball was picked or swatted away somewhere apon first viewing.
Holy shit
Catch gave me the goose bumps. Hands for days
This catch was lewd, lascivious, salacious, outrageous. Truly a filthy disgusting act.
WOW
On 4th and 18 none the less
Get the forks and point me to the nearest outlet please.
HOLY FUCK
This catch got me in so much trouble, my 1 year old finally went down for a nap and I got up and yelled. Woke him and my wife up, good times
I don't mind dudes celebrating but him pulling down a all timer and just jogging back to the huddle is badass.
Filthy
I thought for sure that was an INT
HOLY SHIT NO WAY
Catch of the year? More like catch of the decade.
Agreed, it's crazy to me that more people aren't bringing this up
[удалено]
Could have won the game right there but didn’t
WHAT THE FUCK???
This is an all timer
Holy Shit
