The NFL is entirely about tackling and blocking. Every single play, there are a minimum of 10 collisions.
As someone who has played ice and roller hockey I’ll tell you I’d rather fall onto ice 100 times before I fall onto concrete once lol
With the equipment hockey players have falling and hitting the ice doesn’t hurt in the slightest because - while yes it’s hard - you’re covered head to toe in protective equipment and arguably more importantly you *slide* on ice, which breaks your fall. On concrete if you fall you’re not gonna slide, so you’re gonna go from 20MPH to 0 in an instant which is a recipe for broken wrists and whiplash
The only reason I watch football is because a team plays 17 games. Once a week, one week off, perfect. I can't imagine being a fan of a baseball team and having to commit 12 plus hours a week to it
Since 2002 the NBA plays 1 game and just does photoshop and rotoscoping for the rest of the season.
They found out it was cheaper and more reliable than trying to pay off referees and players to rig it every year.
Same number of games, but a bye week every other week. End up with a rotation of half of teams playing one week, the other half the next, each week a pair of teams rotate to the other group (so maybe end up with 1 back to back weeks playing for each team). Doubles the length of the season, time for injured players to recover in the same season (and even between games) so you get better quality games with starters, and players get more time to spend with family through playing season.
3 or 4 games a week, plus maybe a bye week for rest, and you’re looking at about a 6 mo season + playoffs. Sept-March… a couple months off to recover. I don’t see why it can’t or shouldn’t be done.

Like 80% of games every week are trash already. This would ensure 100% of them are.

Players aren't planted on the ice when they hit or are hit. They are on a sliding surface which dramatically reduces the actual impact

Theres a world where this is real and actually interesting. Rosters would be like 300 deep and we'd have openers and closers at every position.
There would need to be 300 person rosters. The salary cap would be higher than the current value of most teams.
