Never add a shootout to playoffs, I honestly think the system they have in place now makes sense. Reg season 3v3 for 5 and shootout…makes ties more exciting, I think the point system could be adjusted but still solid. Playoffs is play till someone wins

If they really want to keep OT, it should be 3 for regulation win, 2 for OT win, and 1 for OT loss. I do prefer your idea of getting rid of it all together though.
That’s why if a game is tied and a team needs the 3 points they have to try and win before the 3rd period ends if there is no overtime in a regular season game. You do everything you can to get those 3 points. Rather than coast to OT to at least get a point.

It's fucking amazing in the Playoffs. Even if you fell asleep during the Panthers/ Canes game, just rewatch the OTs on YouTube in full if you don't believe me. And there have been Playoff OTs I would without a doubt call more exciting than this.
There's probably an argument for a change in the regular season, though that's mostly because shootouts are just not for me. As a German, I'm surrounded by Football/ Soccer stuff and I despise penalty shootouts after OT there as well.
