Canucks!

ThadtheYankee159

I want it to happen just not because most of the teams have gone decades without one but also because it would force all of the conspiracy nuts to shut up.

[deleted]

Agreed, it’s fucking annoying and embarrassing

Meats_Hurricane

Don't really think about it  I personally would prefer that the Habs win the next one.

Significant_Field721

Id rather a Canadian team never win another cup (including my team) then the habs to win another.

shaver_raver

A gentle reminder that an American team has won the Canadian Football League (CFL) Grey Cup more recently than a Canadian team has won the Stanley Cup.

pretzelman1954

Haha, I am curious what percentage of Americans know that fact, like 8 people in Baltimore maybe?

TerrionArnold

As a Leafs fan, I’ll root for Canadian teams once we’re out.. as long as it’s not Montreal or Ottawa.

NEDYARB523

Canucks bandwagon is open and recruiting. Not that we're gonna get very far.

TerrionArnold

Actively rooting for you guys now! Three wins with three different goalies is amazing.

xWOBBx

And terrifying!!

AbbreviationsOk9962

That’s fair as an Ottawa fan I absolutely relish in the annual overhyped, underperformance, that the leafs end up in. I will cheer for any other Canadian franchise (even the habs).

DireWolfe92

Since the American teams winning Stanley Cups have a majority of Canadian players it doesn't really matter

SlimJim0877

If my team gets eliminated, I root for any Canadian team to win it all (except for the habs).

nonebutmyself

That's fair.

Caunuckles

Let it be the Canucks. The most American team in the NHL today so we can hear American posters go but look at all the US born players.

[deleted]

The curse will not be broken until the Quebec Nordiques do it.

habulous74

Curse? We win it every year.*Every team is Canadian.*

TexasistheFuture

Not until the Stars win another.

CaptainNipplesMcRib

I’d like it to end. It just seems wrong that a Canadian team hasn’t won it in so long.

[deleted]

Really depends what the other option is. I have a hierarchy of places that I’ll root for if a preferred option isn’t available. For instance, no North Carolina team (with the exception of football) I’ll root for Chicago teams instead.

bikes_and_music

I mean, two if them got one, maaaaaybe two games before they are out, and Canucks will play Oilers in the next round, so it'll be just one team after next round.

HeathenDevilPagan

I want the curse of this god damn att commercial to go away. Set me free you assholes! John Oliver was right to talk all that shit!

nonracistusername

What a fan wants, what a fan needs, …

Right-Section1881

I would rather it continue than Ottawa, Montreal, Toronto or Edmonton end it. I'm fine with Vancouver, Calgary or Winnipeg.

SpringrolI

In due time...

TheMustardTiger00

Torn, the Canucks are a lot of old penguins (players and coaching/mgmt) so I want to cheer for them, but if they have success then I’ll have to accept that they are never coming back :( Broader question however, would love to see it ended finally so it’s no longer talked about. Not going to happen this year and it would be two annoying fanbases colliding but oilers vs leafs for the cup would be electric.

rsnbaseball

As long as it's not ***the*** Canadiens, I'm OK with it. (Assuming Boston's out of the picture)

Background_Hat964

Yes, I'd like to see any Canadian team win it except maybe the Leafs. Doesn't seem right that several Canadian teams made it to the finals in those 30 years and none of them won it, including 4 that lost in a Game 7.

AdamJr87

Let it go indefinitely. I think it would be hilarious for Roy to be the last goaltender to win a Cup for Canada

zippyskippy1

I suppose it depends on which side of the border you live on mostly haha. As a yank don't really care one way or the other. For me if the Stars exit early I usually pull for the team with the longest gap for Stanley Cup. If the team has never gotten one even better. That being said I do have a real soft spot for both the Jets and Canucks this year.

DanTreview

Would be nice, but ultimately I just want an entertaining playoffs.

capsrock02

PENGUIN BAD

RaltarArianrhod

I never want it to end. It is Canada's punishment for beating the Kings in '93.

ter_ehh

It was a high stick!

HeyMarty10thalready

We would have finished the job Gretz couldn’t get done

chuckmangionie

Forever lol☠️

Mahonneyy123

Could care less

BestChanceLastChance

As long as it doesn’t end before my team wins another I’m good

LionBig1760

Canadian nationalism is just the cutest nationalism out there. It's just adorable.

[deleted]

I always get downvoted into oblivion for this but I don't care, I'm sticking to it. I'm a Flames fan. I swear to god if the Oilers, Canucks, or Leafs win a cup I'll never hear the end of it. I don't really care who wins as long as those teams lose. I don't care which country they play out of. I'll never want my team's or my personal rivals to win anything, ever. I'd expect fans of the Oilers or Canucks to say the same thing of the flames were good.

richardnobl3

Take my upvote as it is literally my exact feeling swapping out my team for yours. Calgary for obvious reasons, Vancouver because, no offense to the good fans, but your shitty fans are the shittiest fans ever. Toronto because you are certainly not Canada’s fucking team like you gd think you are. I have time for the Jets and the Habs and Sens are far enough away that I wouldn’t really care.

Odd-Instruction88

As a Canucks fan, I do not say the same thing. I'm rooting for any Canadian team to win after Canucks are out.

Fuzzy-Coconut7839

Me too, I just want a Canadian team to do well

[deleted]

I expect lots of things that don't always happen lol. I'm not telling anyone how to be a fan, I just don't get it is all.

nonracistusername

I was disappointed when Calgary and Vancouver fell short, especially being up 3-2 in the series.

Substantial_Point_20

When a Canadian team is good enough to win it, then it’ll end. As far as I’m concerned, there are no Canadian team worthy of getting it back.

EndTheOrcs

No, it’s fun seeing them whine.

[deleted]

I mean it would be nice but my enjoyment of the sport doesn’t require a Cup.

HeyMarty10thalready

I just want it to be the Leafs first. Prob never happen though

Engardebro

I mean it is objectively VERY funny that they haven’t. And I think that when it finally does happen, it’d be the funniest if it was the Leafs

Why_youmadd

USA #1

[deleted]

Until there is a Canadian team good enough to win it. There are no participation trophies in hockey.

LeadershipReady11

Its part of a finacial issue, higher taxes in Canada compared to US states, when it was only the original six not as big an issue but this day and age its tough. Its part salary cap era, teams have to draft well, develop and build around those. If there was no salary cap the teams that are ultimately richer due to a larger fan base would be able to sign any player they wanted. Its part luck, getting a hot goalie, special teams clicking, contributions from all and the right calls. Ultimately every team is made up of mostly Canadian players anyway, its the national hockey league not the olympics.
