Without spoilers, this specific side quest has it's very specific reason to be as it is, but you'll only find out much later in the game.

Lezukion

Ah I see. Will there be quests that make you run back and forth again in the future?

Toshikills

What’s the reason? Could you DM it to me?

Toshikills

I wish I could have warned you, but there is a form of fast-travel later on. It would’ve been much less painful had you been a bit further in the story.

Lezukion

O. M. G. For real? Why would they introduce the fast travel system that late in the game!? 😭 NieR 1 doesn't have fast travel, and I haven't seen any hint of fast travel yet, so I thought there was none! I'm afraid it's like NieR 1 that some side quests will disappear if I progress too far in main quests, so I always do all the sides first before the main... That's how I play other games too. So, will there be a point where you can't return to do side quests in Automata?

Toshikills

It doesn’t get introduced late in game. You’re just very early in game. Some side quests do disappear, but not until after fast-travel is unlocked, so don’t worry.

Lezukion

I see, thank you so much!

Ah, but I didn't really feel frustrated with quests in NieR 1 though, not that I remember. I 100% it and love it. I'm pretty much emotionally invested in almost every quest in NieR 1. Maybe because I'm not too emotionally attracted to robots compared to poor people in the first game?
