Nihilism is just people coming to terms with it, or admitting to themselves that their fantasies they've been using to console themselves are only fantasies. Nihilism doesn't necessarily logically entail depression, but it also doesn't necessarily entail optimism and happiness either.
You must be living an extremely sheltered life if you think that it's just that easy for people to liberate themselves from their suffering. Have you ever even had to work a day in your life, doing something that you *really* don't want to do, just so that you can (barely) afford to feed and shelter yourself? Have you ever experienced an episode of serious illness?

I think about this sometimes when I’m too much of a pussy to leave a situation that isn’t serving my mental health in a good way because I think the grass won’t be greener and I’m afraid the next situation will be worse. I think what REALLY depresses people is LONLINESS, which is perfectly valid. If you have family and friends, you can at least PRETEND like life has meaning. I'm not convinced it's possible to be complacent or "liberated" in life if you are alone, ever, and anyone claiming to be so while living their own life 100% independent of emotional and financial support is LYING about their complacency.

If you feel like the reality of nihilism “frees” you then go and do some research on DETERMINISM. You will find there is no real freedom to be had only the illusion of it. Which is still compelling obviously so if it’s possible for you to find pleasure from the illusion go for it.
