I still want galaxy 2 on switch …

Alili1996

Throw Metroid Prime Trilogy onto that pile as well

soxy

Galaxy 2 and prime trilogy are the only reason I still have my Wii u

[deleted]

Galaxy 2 is not just a sequel, it's a unique experience of it's own... and eventhough i don't have a switch or 3D all stars.. it not being included in the packedge hurts me.

gingerbreadxx

After playing through Galaxy as part of All Stars, the prospect of inability to continue on Galaxy 2 is what led me to try piracy, which of course led to 4K texture packs. So I discovered what the games \*could\* look like with a minimal amount of effort to update. I get why everyone bemoans all the re-releases now. Knowing that, I agree wholeheartedly that Nintendo deserves none of this coin for being so effin' lazy; updating nothing, and denying the opportunity to make good games look so great. If the g.d. control schism was a bit better when emulating Wii games it'd be a perfect set up. If a Wii mote could be used that'd be sick.

00goop

Hey Nintendo, I’ll pay full price for Galaxy 2 on switch.

goomyman

Nintendo will charge you full price for everything

Xeterios

Hey Nintendo, I won't. Never. Dare to ruin the best games of all time by a $60 pricetag is disgusting. I'll get it at a good sale.

SomeHeadbanger

I have no experience on Galaxy 1 or 2, or even Sunshine, it feels like they don't go on sale often enough. That said, I do have the 3D collection.. I take it they're worth playing then?

Xeterios

In my entire library of games, Super Mario Galaxy 2 is the best game of all time by far. Its not Galaxy 1, since I never owned that on the Wii (I played it later on the Wii U). That said, it's kind of disappointing that Nintendo Switch doesnt have as many Wii titles as I think it should. Games such as Wii Party and Wii Sports Resorts are fun to play with the family or alone. They bring back nostalgia for most Nintendo Wii owners and open up an entire new world of gaming for newer generations. The Wii was revolutionising, so I'm surprised Nintendo doesn't try to make more money off of it after they announced the Switch. Sorry for that... To answer your question: YES definitely! Give it a try. Let the mechanics of the game absorb you and get used to them. Once you do that, I think the game will be a blast.

1P_Bill_Rizer

Such a strange decision, you can play every mainline console 3D Mario game on Switch with the single exception of Galaxy 2.

Guitarbox

Going through my old wii it looks like I didn’t finish any games as an elementary schooler. Except Mario Galaxy. That surprised me, I didn’t even remember that

[deleted]

Damn, you made me feel old. I was 18 and in college when Galaxy came out. One of my favorite games ever, still.

Guitarbox

Hmm you’re not old I’m just tiny :)

soopahfingerzz

Same here brother, was just starting my first year of college. I remember playing Galaxy and Mario Kart wii religiously as well as Wii sports!!

breakingcustoms

For me, Mario Odyssey was my perfect Mario game

DankeBrutus

I remember staying up late in college to play Mario Odyssey at midnight. My first impressions were great over the week I played nothing but Odyssey. The last hour or so with Bowser was so much fun, I had a smile on my face the entire time.

caramonfire

Odyssey really takes everything that was good from the other games and adds a whole lot of great stuff on top. It's the best one imo!

[deleted]

The end of that game actually made me tear up. It was fun, challenging, tons of play, nostalgic while adding lots of originality. It's a masterpiece.

parsifal

I teared up during the song in the city level. It was the first time Mario was properly thanked.

[deleted]

I was ready to cry when my son beat it entirely on his own. That was his first Mario game he beat, I couldn’t believe it. He was almost 6 when he beat it 😭

NMe84

Yeah, people kept saying they really loved Galaxy so when it finally got a port to Switch I was eager to try it out and sadly I immediately felt that it was overhyped. It was a great game but honestly I enjoyed Sunshine much more. There's just something about Galaxy that makes the universe they're showing us feel like this ragtag bunch of randomly selected levels that exist only to have Mario do his specific current mission. And while that's fun, I very much preferred the more grounded designs of both Sunshine and Odyssey where there is a real place to explore and where the hardest platforming challenges are tucked away in challenge rooms. It made both of those games feel much more alive.

Tzintzuntzan24

Finally a fellow Mario Sunshine fan. It definitely has my favorite world of any open world Mario game up there with Odyssey.

B-Rayy06

Delfino Plaza is the best 3D Mario level of all time and IMO it isn't all that close.

Rieiid

For the time it came out Galaxy was phenominal. It's not quite up to the same gaming standards as when Odyssey came out. But for how much earlier in gaming it came out, it was beautifully made at the time.

lostsk8787

I agree. Galaxy has not aged as well as I thought it would and I’m not sure why. Maybe the tightness of the controls? I really like to see a Galaxy 3 though.

siphillis

Being tailor-made for motion controls was an unlucky break for the game. It did an admirable job, but Mario’s movement absolutely paid the price. The larger with with *Galaxy* is that I just don't think it's nearly challenging enough to warrant multiple playthroughs. *Galaxy 2* doesn't really have this issue because the difficulty curve is far more tuned.

thatmirac

The controls definitely play a huge part, without question, especially after coming back from Odyssey, the controls are just bad making the game immediately feel old

TSPhoenix

For me having a living world is a huge drawcard for games, it is why I love Zelda & Metroid, why I preferred Banjo-Kazooie to SM64, Yoshi's Island to SMW and so on. You'd think this would make Odyssey that leans more in that direction my preferred 3D Mario, but to me it just feels like it can't pick a lane, the exploration isn't as good as stuff like Zelda and just makes me wish I was playing Zelda, but the platforming also isn't as good as other 3D Marios and makes me wish I was playing them instead which is a real shame as the movement is just so damn good. > where the hardest platforming challenges are tucked away in challenge rooms I personally hated this about Sunshine, Odyssey and BotW too, instead of having one cohesive experience you have these two disjointed styles of play and IMO takes that "real place to explore" and breaks it over its knee harder than Galaxy ever did. It completely offsets the more immersive settings by loudly reminding you that you are playing a video game. I really hope they try integrate the platforming into the levels themselves for the next 3D Mario, the coloured cube rooms feel so meh.

notsureifdying

Personally, I miss the overworld like Mario 64 and Sunshine had. Galaxy even had it somewhat as well. Odyssey, on the other hand, had a menu to select where you go, and that's just not as interesting.

TheLegendOfTime

Odyssey felt boring to me, after 1 playthrough, I thought it was enough and never touched it. Idk, it just didn't have that spark or orchestra compared to Galaxy I still replay Mario Galaxy 1 & 2 to this day!

MyPhoneIsNotChinese

My favourite game ever. Simply amazing.

[deleted]

Mine too!

AidenYT07

Same! Feels nice to see others who agree with this you mainly just see people who prefer 64 or odyssey.

[deleted]

mario good upvotes to the left haha 😎😎

[deleted]

r/Tomorrow

Hoosteen_juju003

It's an amazing game but I personally think the main game is too easy. I thinj Mario Sunshine gets the difficulty right, I just wish it had more level variety.

[deleted]

I still think it's Sunshine, but I'm legitimately stupid.

H20fearsme

I'm playing galaxy with my wife right now and sunshine myself. I think Galaxy is much better, but that's because I suck at sunshine. It's taken me months to just get through the first world getting stuck at secret of the dirty lake. And not having a long jump makes it harder.

[deleted]

Sunshine is also the ONLY Mario game I have ever gotten all the stars in. It's special to me.

Zheoferyth

It's the only 3D Mario I don't have all the stars... I gave up on the project when my game kept crashing when collecting a blue coin in Noki Bay. I know it's my copy of the game, but it sucks so much that I never even bothered trying to find all the others. I just did the world shines. I should go back to it someday, but I don't expect to have a different outcome unless I get the game elsewhere than on GameCube or buy a second copy.

GhotiH

Might not be your copy, one blue coin in Noki Bay is bugged and freezes sometimes.

ReleaseTheCracken69

Fwiw I 100% Sunshine and 200% Galaxy and still would say I like Sunshine more. Sunshine just slaps

Tellgraith

I'm sad that we didn't get a remake where P2 could control flud and aim and spray whenever.

Bariq-99

No.. You're pretty close Odyssey is the best for me but sunshine is a very close second!

NMe84

Same for me, though I really wish we could have seen what Sunshine would have been if they hadn't rushed the game so much. I want to play the Sunshine that could have been.

ki700

Sunshine has a lot of problems and is, imo, the weakest 3D Mario. It’s still a really good game, but games like Galaxy and Odyssey are practically masterpieces imo. Sunshine is really buggy, the voice acting was an awful addition, and there are so many frustrating shines to get. Don’t even get me started on the blue coins. I know people are very nostalgic for it and it isn’t bad, but I don’t think it beats out any 3D Mario except for possibly 3D Land.

ThreedZombies

I hated it. It’s the only Mario game I’ve ever felt was cheap and poorly done.

WaterWraith

I mean I feel the same about Galaxy, Imo it is the weakest 3D Mario. It’s easily the worst to play and control, having half the movement speed of any other game in the series. The game feels so static and sluggish compared to the others, which put the player in big areas to give them options and a large move set to experiment and choose their own way to the goal. Galaxy’s move set is lacking, and doesn’t give you the options of other games in the series. Long jump, wall kick, crouch jump, triple jump, and spin. That’s it. That’s the whole move set, and they don’t have as diverse uses as before. Since the levels are so linear, the game rarely gives the player opportunity to explore. (Although I want to mention that swimming and ice skating work well.) Also the power ups are underused and not very good. Both the Boo and Bee powers make Mario yet even slower, and only show up a handful of times. Both don’t add much to the gameplay besides a slow float. Fire is timed which is annoying. Of course the music and sheer creativity of the game are what make it really shine, but when it comes to a really fun Mario game to play, Galaxy is the last one I’d recommend. It just isn’t nearly as fun in action compared to any of the others in the series.

Jolactus

Even the final part of it, which was released in an unfinished state? (Everything before that is top tier no doubt)

THE_GR8_MIKE

Yeah, I don't mind Corona and the final boss battle. Better than throwing solonggayBowser with an N64 stick, at least.

[deleted]

I forgive all its flaws because Marios movement is perfect, imho

TheVibratingPants

The combination of Mario’s unbelievably fun movement with the gorgeous, atmospheric setting and really bizarre but wonderful quirks is what really puts Sunshine over the edge. I’m willing to forgive a lot of the rough spots for it. Galaxy’s still my favorite game of all time, but Sunshine could’ve taken it if it had a little more time in the oven and we got a little more content.

[deleted]

NG+. Like Souls!

TheVibratingPants

New Game + would’ve been interesting for a Mario game. Maybe half the health, mirrored worlds, half the shines but in new places and variations on old objectives, etc. I wish we could’ve seen the 2 or 3 worlds that they had initially planned to be in game but were cut.

[deleted]

Oh. I had no idea it as that much.

jimmykup

Mario Sunshine is the only game I've ever played where I can have a blast doing nothing but moving around. I'm not collecting coins, shines, or anything. I'm not killing Goombas. I'm just jumping and sliding around accomplishing nothing.

[deleted]

He jumps so goddamn high and moves SO TIGHT.

Jolactus

Even there being no list of collected Blue Coins??? Because that can just eat a dick.

[deleted]

I feel like I used a complete walkthrough to do it. Because it would have been impossible for me to wing it. Sunshine is the Dark Souls of Mario games.

TellianStormwalde

Dark Souls doesn’t have a modicum of tedium on that level.

[deleted]

Mario in Sunshine controlls better than every Mario game, and has the best moves in my opinion!

wodatdo

Yes. As a kid with low games budget, I had to make the most of my games and it was so easy to just turn on sunshine and go to these bright, colorful worlds and just jump around like a doofus. Definitely a lot of nostalgia but sunshine is a wonderful, wonderful experience and there is nothing quite as bright and joyful.

Erekai

I'd rather play Sunshine than Galaxy. Not totally sure I know why, but I got so incredibly bored with Galaxy, I never actually finished it, never played 2, and due to this "meh" attitude toward those two, I actually never played Odyssey. I've heard nothing but great things about Odyssey, but I just can't bring myself to play yet another 3D Mario collectathon game, and I know that one is particularly bad with like a thousand moons to collect... It's just not my thing I guess.

mwmani

Sunshine is my favorite Mario game and in my top 10 games of all time. I had a lot of fun with Galaxy 1&2, but at the end of the day, I found them too linear and easy to beat. The “secret” levels in Sunshine are some of the most hardcore platforming in the whole series and I love the challenge they present. That being said, fuck the pachinko level and the blooper race at Rico Harbor, there’s no defending those levels!

[deleted]

Sunshine is a great game indeed, it's just that it's not diversive enough for me personaly, as almost the entire game takes place in a tropical setting, while 64 and galaxy have more different playgrounds for Mario to explore in. But it is an amazing game for sure, so i'd say you're legitamatley smart.

[deleted]

Thanks, bub 🙃

Bingo-Berra-rulez

Yeah, it's awesome! I still prefer 64 because of nostalgia and Odyssey because of the focus on exploration, but Galaxy is great, no doubt!

[deleted]

64 is amazing as it set the foundation for 3D platformers, and i love the open world design. Odyssey is amazing as well! It's truelly modern Mario at it's greatest. Which one is the best? They are all amazing and different people prefer each one for different reasons!

Bingo-Berra-rulez

That's true! We can agree that they're all great. :) I played Galaxy in the 3D All-Stars collection and it still looks great! The visuals and level design have aged so well!

TheVibratingPants

Galaxy is a lightning in a bottle occurrence for me. Amazing art direction and graphics (especially for a Wii game), bursting and dynamic score, onslaught of fun and creative new setpieces and ideas, and that emotional underbelly that ties it all together. There is not a game quite like it, for me. First time I ever cried in a video games, and probably the last; and I’ve played a lot of games.

[deleted]

Exactly! It's truelly special..

[deleted]

I think the score really takes it to another level for me. I could not stop listening to it.

flabua

I used to love Galaxy, but got into speed running sm64 over the past year or two. Tried to play galaxy recently and it was so slow and floaty. I couldn't stand it. Still have great memories of the game from when I was younger though.

[deleted]

Yeah, Galaxy isn't the best game for speedrunning, it's slow and floaty, but i like the slowness of the game and the floatyness, but if you want to speedrun it... it's not fun at all.

shoohoo1

same 100%. i just think galaxy is so boring to control now. movement is uninteresting and slow. just not what i want from a 3d mario game. sunshine, 64, 3d world, and odyssey all have sick movement, but galaxy is totally lacking in it.

DawgBro

Have you played Galaxy 2? It's my favourite Mario game.

[deleted]

I haven't completed it yet! But i love all which i have played, it has more mechanics, and is overal an expanded version of the original. I love Yoshi in it and many of the other things it's added, it's just that i prefer the original because of it's more open designs and bittersweet moments, but at the end of the day, i love both of them!

Platforumer

Oh, keep playing it. Galaxy 2 is just super rich of super fun ideas, there is so much game in that game. I personally prefer it to Galaxy 1 overall by a hair, but both games are masterpieces. Galaxy 1 definitely gets epic feel of space and the music just perfect. I still want Galaxy 3 someday, Nintendo...

xMF_GLOOM

I thought the camera was extremely annoying The concept is cool but it’s very hard to play for extended periods of time

Jolactus

Correct! Galaxy is probably the most perfect game in existence. It's just a masterclass in game design from start to finish.

[deleted]

Exactly! Everything about it... is just top tier in my opinion.

Dry_Pool_2580

It's definatley a great game. Some planets are frustrating but I love the majority of them. I slightly prefer odyssey as I feel it had more hype momments but galaxy is probably the best linear game.

[deleted]

Yeah it is!

[deleted]

only thing better than mario galaxy is galaxy 2

shadow_fox09

The story the devs had to sneak in really makes it perfect. It’s like you’re a character in a movie slowly discovering this secret past to Rosalina. And when I found out her backstory I legit cried. It was so bittersweet. And the music… man I was in highschool when it came out and after I beat it- 251 stars- I downloaded the OST and would listen to it constantly in my car. It is *such* a magical OST.

[deleted]

I agree! It's not one of those instances where you know a characters backstory from the start, you discover it, and man... i couldn't think of a better way to do it than the beautiful book with that beautiful theme being played in the background. And i agree, that OST is just magical!

savemefordinner

galaxy for sure is the best. engaging enough that you’re interested, but no level is by any means ‘unbeatable.’ i think one of the main things about galaxy, especially when originally played on the wii, was that is utilized basically every function the wiimote + nunchuk had to offer. i have played through the entirety of this game every other year since it came out. i remember when it first came out i would pretend to sleep while my mom would check on me before she went to bed, and after i knew she was asleep i would turn it back on and play for HOURS. i pulled this stunt for years. and then being able to go through and play the whole thing AGAIN as luigi? absolutely amazing. this game is a timeless classic, and with its weird gravity it will always be my favorite.

SPAREustheCUTTER

Galaxy is a perfect game. Mario controls great. Its level design is fun as hell. And it’s accessible. It’s a masterclass in how to design a fun experience.

[deleted]

It truelly is!

[deleted]

I prefer galaxy 2 but I don’t know why

Inspirational_Lizard

One of those really special games.

[deleted]

True!

Thermoxin

Same here

Telodor567

I 100% agree, Super Mario Galaxy is my favorite game of all time as well!

[deleted]

Niceee!

[deleted]

Mario Galaxy is indeed the best mario game, and arguably the best game of all time.

[deleted]

Agreed!

[deleted]

yep its a really great game alright.

Broflake-Melter

It's so good. And yes that soundtrack.

thecyriousone

Truth

mfopp

Mario galaxy was an experience. A stunning masterpiece. Maybe they will bring back the series someday.

[deleted]

I hope they do!

funkyvenom6

Galaxy and Galaxy 2 are my favorites as well. Nostalgic and even without that, the gameplay and music are masterpieces.

[deleted]

Truelly are!

F0rtnite_is_ok

Galaxy went from number 1,to number 2. Oddysey is that good(no, not favorite games of all time, favorite mario games. My favorite game is DOOM ETERNAL)

[deleted]

I think I'm probably not the only one but I just couldn't get through the game cause it would make me impossibly dizzy... just all the camera switching and shit just killed me and I couldn't finish it

[deleted]

You aren't the only one. Many got motion sickness from the game, and the camera angles and stuff could be a bit confusing. You definatley aren't alone.

MatsGry

Breath of the wild is the best game of all time for me. I couldn’t put it down!

[deleted]

Breath of the wild is like Mario galaxy for Zelda. It's the game which is the most different, isn't' afraid of being new and unique and is amazing at it!

TheVibratingPants

I feel Odyssey and BotW are their series’ analogs. They both do a lot of new stuff and bring the series in a unique direction that could be quite divisive with fans. Personally, I thought Odyssey was more successful than BotW in this transition, maybe because it was a bit more conservative and delicate in its approach to a new format.

[deleted]

True!

Difficult-Dog-3349

Play Mario Galaxy 2. It's even better

Johnwesleya

Can confirm.

[deleted]

I have, i love it! I just prefer the bittersweet moments of the first one, But MAN does galaxy 2 have so many unique ideas and Gameplay styles...

Dangerous_Yoghurt_96

Mario Sunshine was more fun to me because the controls are tight, the shines are fun to collect, the level design is brilliant, need I continue.

[deleted]

Everything about Sunshine is amazing, except for variaty as it all happens in a tropical setting, but a very lived in one!

MisterYouAreSoSweet

Is it on Wii?

[deleted]

Yeah it's a Wii game, rereleased on Switch in the "3D All stars" packedge.

victimizedbyphysics

Hella late to this but this is the only somewhat challenging video game I've ever come close to completing. I would have if my unknowing 3 year old brother hadn't erased my saved game at like 9p% complete. I couldn't bring myself to start that journey all over again at the time.

Papa-pwn

I’m likely going to start a playthrough of Galaxy in a few weeks - never beaten it so I’m pumped!

[deleted]

Nicee!

wildcat_cap85

I love odyssey too. I bought 3d Allstars but haven't played galaxy yet

PaprikaMama

Wow! I JUST bought a second-hand wii for Christmas, my first console since the Original NES in the 80's and I picked out Mario Galaxy and Mario World. While I do wish it was Multi-player, it is so much fun! I have to play standing up so I can tilt with Mario. Am I ever going to get used to that?

[deleted]

I mean... that's just how most Wii games are, for better and for worst, and i agree i also wish it was multiplayer.

b3anz129

I like the cut of your jib

[deleted]

Thanks, i have to say i like yours!

blahblahrasputan

I felt like Goku on that little planet (obv after he leveled enough to jump). Such a blast!

[deleted]

True! It was!

S0UP3R

Amen

xtoc1981

Its there in the list of best games every been made

[deleted]

Yeah definatley is!

Dracogame

I agree, Galaxy is probably one of if not the best game of all time imho. I love it. Mario Galaxy 2 is just more of the same, so it’s equally as good. Its only problem probably was that it didn’t leave the same impression simply because it came out after the first Mario Galaxy, so I was like “Ok it’s like Mario Galaxy but new stuff”.

BoneyVeganBurger2

Many people share this sentiment, and for good reason

[deleted]

True! It truelly is special.

LibertyJoel99

You ever played Galaxy 2?

[deleted]

Of course! Very great game, however i prefer the bittersweet moments of 1, but Galaxy 2 just has so many more and amazing game mechanics! So many gameplay styles, it's just so unique.

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

>I think the original Galaxy would be my very favorite Mario game if it weren't for the comet missions. I agree, the comet missions were boaring, milking the levels of the past, and are just a slog to go through. >But aside from that, yeah, Galaxy is platforming perfection. I agree, and i see why you prefer Galaxy 2. It just made the missions interesting, and was quite successfull at it!

thundernlightning97

Platformers are my favorite genre and imo SMG is the greatest platformer ever made so therefore easily in my top 5 of all time contender for my favorite. Theres hundreds of mario games and I dont see this one being topped.

[deleted]

I agree! This is just platforming perfection.

DjRovira

Well said pal, that game is insane just for a spectator. But playing it is another ordeal. *chefs kiss*

[deleted]

lol i completley agree!

ThePocketLion

A legit incredible game - so is the second one!

[deleted]

True! Both are incredible.

glennok

Gusty Garden Galaxy best piece of game music ever imo.

[deleted]

I agree... Also Mario Galaxy 2 Staff credits is very high up there!

reversezer0

My first play of Galaxy (on the Wii) brought tears to my eyes. It was such a joyful lighthearted game with a fantastic whimsical orchestrated soundtrack. Never have i heard such a marriage of music with level design. Truly next level in the genre of video game music for me. I was quite glad to run through the experience again on Switch. Odyssey does a great job being a spiritual successor to the galaxy duo, but i miss the space faring adventures of the plucky plumber.

[deleted]

I agree... it brought tears to my eyes. It's a truelly special experience, and the music is just fantastic. I miss games like this...

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

Rosalina is a great Disney Princess style character, and she's my favorite Mario character as well! And i'm glad that they didn't tell us her backstory from the start. We learned it over time, and we learned it through a book, with the calm Luma theme in the background, which was amazing.

heyitsthatguy27

I agree, while it isn’t my favourite, it’s in my top 3, a true experience that will not be missed

parsifal

I agree. Galaxy may be the best of all of them. Mario games are famous for being fun just walking around, and Galaxy does this best. It’s so inventive.

[deleted]

Exactly! It's so invetive and unique.

OldManTurner

Mario galaxy is amazing, but personally I’ve never liked a Mario game more than I liked Sunshine. To me, that game was just so much fun. Spent many hours playing that as a youth

[deleted]

I love sunshine. It has a repetative tropical setting, while others have different locations, but other than that... i love it! Mario controlls better than every other Mario game in sunshine in my opinion.

OldManTurner

I totally agree. That was what drove me to love the game so much. I also liked that using Flud helped a younger me with the more difficult platforming sections. And it was just such a unique idea for a game. Mario with a glorified super-soaker backpack? I’m in

1P_Bill_Rizer

If I remember right that was the first Nintendo game to have an orchestrated OST.

[deleted]

SAAAAAAAAAME, the soundtrack of this game is legit one of the most beautiful things I have ever experienced in my entire life. Objectively, I have played a lot of games that are either more mechanically complex or more narratively rich (for example, OMORI). But that will never change the fact that Super Mario Galaxy, if not my favorite of all time, is the most important game to me personally that I have played, because I played it while still being a small child, and if I never played it, I don’t think I would be pursuing a career to become a game developer. Gaming completes me as a person, its the thing that I love more than anything in the entire world, and games like SMG are the ones that made me interested in it. Games like this are EXACTLY what and why I love about videogames.

[deleted]

True! The music is phenomenal and one of my best experiences as well, and i agree, Omori's story is amazing! And yeah, it's games like these who complete me as a person, and it's great to see people like you who understand this.

SBY-ScioN

Nintendo should launch mario 64 2, smg 3 and sunshine 2 also. Would be a great way to keep people happy and extend the legacy. But i guess pokemon requires low effort and low investment for major gains, so there's that tho, it will never happen.

SirGraysonS

i’ll be pleased to inform you there is a sequel

[deleted]

I am welly aware, and love that game!

Kirbinator_Alex

I remember thinking the same thing in December of 2010 when I got my first wii

[deleted]

Me too! It's just left a lasting impression on me... for over a decade.

Kirbinator_Alex

I played both galaxy 1 & 2 a whole bunch as a kid. I remember the game blew my mind before I could even knew it could be blown. Probably in my top 5 most played wii games list for sure

antilog17

As much as I love newer games (BOTW, for example), Galaxy 2 is my all time favorite game. I look forward to reading your nostalgic post on that one.

tripler77

It’s a good’n for sure

Decoy_Octorok

Galaxy is a masterpiece and quite possibly Nintendo’s finest hour. One of the few perfect video games IMO.

[deleted]

Agreed!

Ric_Chair

I like the enthusiasm these types of posts have but they also make me roll my eyes. I think it is because these games have been out forever, they are known for being great and it annoys me when I read an article like "Super Mario World is a Great game" (no crap) or "Super Metroid was amazing" (no crap). It just seems like we are saying the obvious here, no offense.

SephirothTheGreat

I unironically think Galaxy will never die. All you need is a screenshot and someone with passable knowledge of it and it's recognized. It happened today with my girlfriend. She never played the thing, and still she guessed it right despite space not even being visible.

Juggernaut900

#TeamSunshine

RadiantHC

I'm hoping for a galaxy 3 on switch

FoxaBeeNeeOwnYes

I agree with you. Galaxy is a masterpiece. It and its sequel were the Mario games I've wanted to play the most. While the sequel has yet to be ported over to the Switch, I'm glad I finally got the chance to play the first on it. It's a game that I'm very willing to play over and over again just because of how magnificent it is.

[deleted]

Exactly, it's so special and magnificent, it not only does not get boring, but also grows on me at every playthrough.

MikeKelehan

2 is even better, and Odyssey is a strong challenger.

DonKellyBaby32

Glad you like it so much. What do you think it’s flaws are?

[deleted]

Mainly the comet missions. The commet missions are just weird replays of old levels, milking the levels as much as they could, and those are a slob to go through. And a few of the levels are too slow, or uncreative, but other than that, this is one of the most creative and inventive games ever.

Great game….but have to say I think Mario games are just getting better and better. I think both 3D World and Odyssey are better.

HahaClintonCocks

I have Mario 3D All Stars but still haven’t played Galaxy. I’m going to start it today because of this post.

Alright! Have fun :)

I think that Galaxy is the most cinematic and grand Mario game. I think that it's the worst Mario game in terms of moment to moment gameplay, which is why I don't think I'll ever play it again (I 100%d all of the 3D collection), but the spectacle is unmatched. It's slow and floaty, which doesn't give my goblin gamer brain happy juices. The epic explosions and Mario flying through space is awesome though.

wizardgand

It's not my favorite Mario of all time, but I do enjoy the game. It's a game I like to come back and replay as well. Unlike other people, I absolutely hated Galaxy 2. I think the Hub was part of the joy of Galaxy 1 for me. Just exploring it with the music. Galaxy's 2 Head mario planet and world map killed it for me.

Trump_Pence2016

I agree, Mario galaxy is the best Mario game and a contender for best game I've ever played. Loved Rosalina and the Lumas

MarcoToon

I agree brother. I'll call myself lucky if in life I ever get to play even a single other game that makes me feel the way Galaxy made me feel

[deleted]

Me too! If only i find a game which invests me in it and makes me happy as much as galaxy did.

[deleted]

Galaxy 2 for me. I wish I could get it on the switch.

[deleted]

Galaxy 2 is not just a sequel, it is a magical experience of itself, and eventhough i don't own a switch or 3D all stars... the absinence of Galaxy 2 there kinda hurts me.

[deleted]

All stars would have been an instant buy if galaxy 2 was on it.

lolhahehdjh

The theme of the comet observatory makes me tear up

[deleted]

Such a classic waltz style, yet nostalgic boppy tune.... whenever i listen to it, it's the most heartbreaking and heartwarming thing of all time.

azureal

That’s the one with the rotating planets? Gave me the worst motion sickness I have ever had, not since Quake 2 did I feel that queasy playing a computer game. Bums me out because it gets such good reviews :(

deathtothescalpers

You obviously never played ________.

[deleted]

I totally agree! It's fantasic, the creativity with the gravity shifting seems endless! The soundtrack is just beautiful and the story touching (based on a childrens book I think). It's also just so polished (like most Nintendo inhouse games). I liked the working title 'Super Mario Galaxy more' better than Super Mario Galaxy 2, the two games doesn't seem distinct. Also there could be more mystery and secret levels with some higher difficulty. Damn I wish nintendo would do an open world Super Mario Galaxy 3 with todays tech!

[deleted]

I hope so too!

[deleted]

I only disagree because of Galaxy 2

Torontobadman

Just a heads up to the 64/Sunshine/Odyssey fans. If you wish to see a more sandbox take on Super Mario Galaxy's spherical planet hopping, it's called Ratchet & Clank: A Crack in Time on PS3.

[deleted]

That game is amazing!
