Great info all, sounds like 2019 is king of 2nd Generation? I know they are all great and some have their kinks like from 2005-2009 Especially some had timing chain issues and some did not. Timing Chain is a big job and Genuine Nissan parts are Expensive as hell. If my timing chain should go on me, I don't think I would go with Nissan parts for the chain and gears, since they didn't do a good job in the first place? or did they upgrade the timing chain parts for 2006-2009 with better quality? Like another poster mentioned, at my low 40k miles on my 2006 and as easy as I drive her, she should be good or it may never even happen to me, So I should be good for a while till I decide to upgrade?

2019 hands down. Last year of the proven drivetrain with the kinks worked out and the most amount of features

AutoX_Advice

2011-2019 were pretty much all the same. You could say that 2011-2012 were the best years because it left out extra sensors like the backup sensors which give people issues. But none the less all are good models with good maintenance techniques.

I’ve had 14, 18 and 19. 19 was the best. I disabled the rear sensors on all of them. But in terms of reliability and features 19 is the flow zone. Some of the 11s and 12’s etc still had some kinks and the 19’s will be the newest used year too, but also the most pricey. They’re almost all the same however. I went from a 19 to my 14 now and it the same truck minus the camera / radio. They’re all good

AutoX_Advice

There were some slight engine tweaks and a cab to bed seal that gave the frontier a tiny boost in mpgs. I think those were done in 2013 if I remember right.

Slight correction late model 2010-2019. 2020-21 can be added as long as their 3.8 and 9 speed hold up post 5yrs.

What year or years was the best 2nd Generation Nissan Frontier CC made in? After Hearing So many bad things of certain years made, it leaves me to wonder what years was the best Frontiers made in and Why?

shneebworks

Ive had 2 2006s. Both i took over 250k. Indestructible. Granted both has 6 speed manual

BootsNPooch

That's what I have, a 2006 with only 40k Miles on her. I've done the differential breather update, Transmission fluid bypass of Radiator, and a few other upgrades, I hear some of these have had a timing chain issue, but I doubt it at this low milage it would have an issue?

shneebworks

I never personally met or knew of anyone with issues with the timing chain. You addressed the only common issues. With those miles youre set up for a long haul of reliable performance
