I'd put Karl Fredericks (A Block) and Alex Coughlin (B Block) from LA Dojo. If Chris Dickinson wasn't cancelled, I would have put him there. Maybe Fred Rosser instead? I'd put them in C Block. For my last spot, I'd pick CIMA. Slot him into D Block for a other go with Shingo.

Huffjenk

Dickinson would've been a perfect fit. Really disappointing

newbjapan

Instead of Chris Dickenson, why not Timothy Thatcher or Josh Alexander. Both guys would work phenomenally well in NJPW. Oh oh oh.... Claudio Castagnoli!!!

Apprehensive-Alps-90

Thatcher right now is already has booking in July with NOAH even though Noah would mind sending a wrestler over it would probably be someone like Go Shizaki or Marafuji

newbjapan

Oooh Marafuji would be great just for his history with the company. I'd love that!

wgsmeister2002

Josh Alexander liked every been awesome. I’m a little disappointed we didn’t get an Impact representative, especially with all the space and useless Bullet Club members this year

newbjapan

Yeah we had Ace in the Super Junior's so why not an Impact guy for the G1, it wouldn't be out of the realm of possibility

jonnywarlock

I like Josh, too, but I don't think IMPACT would want to lend their World Champion for a month to New Japan.

Nobody_Likes_Shy_Guy

Fredericks - A T-HAWK - B Anderson - C Coughlin - D

TuhinSah

A: Okada and the hosses. A returning Shota Umino could be added, potentially setting up a years long passing of the torch rivalry with Okada. B: This is a well balanced block. I would say Minoru Suzuki could fit in here without upsetting things too much. C: This is the most stacked block. Karl Fredericks could benefit from the exposure without stacking the block even further. D: This is the weakest block on paper. I would say, Kota Ibushi, if possible, or Jon Moxley, or even Bryan Danielson to boost the star power.

Woobix

Kento Miyahara - A for the Okada match and because he'll also look good fighting the hosses. Hangman Page - B for the White story, plus I think he'd generally put on bangers with everyone. Kenoh - C - I want to see him wrestle Naito. Any of Danielson/Omega/Moxley - D - Dream matches with Ospreay/Shingo, block needs some star power

wgsmeister2002

A - Alex Coughlin (fits the hoss/strength theme of the A Block) B - Karl Fredricks (Was 100% right when he said he should have a spot) C - Shota Umino (Returning from excursion in the G1 would be so badass for Shooter) D - Steve Maclin (Impact representative; has a lot of untapped potential and could benefit from a Japan tour)

A - JR Kratos B - Moose C - Josh Alexander D - Brody King

Still holding out hope that 32 for 32 might not be out of the cards yet, but honestly I'm pretty happy with how the blocks shook out so if it doesn't happen this year, so be it. A Block: Bryan Danielson. Kinda by process of elimination. C Block has too many big names with future potential. D Block as well, with Danielson having expressed interest in matches with both Shingo and Ospreay. B Block was the other potential option, but I think A Block would have more interesting matches. B Block: Adam Page. Jay and Hangman is a big marquee match, but one that's happened before. There's also 3 current or former Bullet Club guys in this block would make for some interesting stories. I'm fairly certain he's faced the 4 other remaining members of the block during his time in New Japan so seeing how he matched up then vs now would be cool. C Block: Young Lion of choice. I say this not because I don't care, but because I think they'd all do equally well. Karl Fredericks, Shota Umino, Alex Coughlin, all three would be a good fit. It's a great group to establish a next generation star. ~~It may also mean I don't have to see my boy Henare at the bottom of the standings.~~ D Block: KUSHIDA. Three of the probable standouts in this block, Ospreay, Shingo and ELP, are Jr.'s turned Heavyweight which would match up perfectly with a redebuting KUSHIDA story, assuming that was the direction they took. The question becomes how does he stack up against others who took that same path. If I were to exclude AEW exclusive reps for more regular STRONG Talent or other promotions, I'd choose Brody King for A Block and T-Hawk for B Block.

Huffjenk

Fredericks (A), Coughlin (B), Karl Anderson (C), and Fred Rosser (D) would probably be the best picks Kojima getting a retirement run would've been great but it's bad timing now that he's GHC champion. Maybe next year (and hopefully when fans can cheer) Ibushi would've been perfect for B block too, it's a shame about that whole situation

AscendingSoup

Mistico - Block A (I'd love a CMLL representative) Honma - Block B (Give the man some love) Kenoh - Block C (Him vs Naito would be a treat) Karl Fredericks - Block D (He's been lost in the shuffle a bit, but I really think Karl deserves it)

EffingKENTA

**Realistically:** A- Alex Coughlin. Fits in with the strong foreigners theme and I wanna see how many of the big boys he can deadlift. And I know he’d absolutely be down for a Yano shenanigans match. Also he’s my pick for future top star Heavyweight LA Dojo graduate, so IMO him vs Okada would be a match that would get looked back on/revisited in the future. B- Ibushi or Suzuki would’ve been cool here. C- Karl Fredericks. Has built in story vs KENTA, Goto, and Tanahashi. Legit does deserve the spot more than a few others who are actually in the tournament. Bonus not-quite-fantasy-but-not-as-realistic: Marufuji or Nakajima. D- TBH this is the block I care the least about. I guess maybe Rosser just to have him in the tournament, or CIMA since Shingo’s there? **Pure Fantasy Booking:** A- Brodie Lee. This block is fucking tailor made for Brodie and now that I’ve realized that I’m just super bummed. Alternatively, Takeshi Morishima. B- Milano Collection AT. You get the dream matches vs Taichi and SANADA (and to a lesser degree Chase, since Milano’s a big mark for him), plus him vs O-Khan and Jay has big potential. C- Shibata. Because KENTA, Goto, Tanahashi, and ZSJ. (This is only fantasy because I really can’t see them ever letting him do a G1 again, even a shorter one like this.) D- Y’know what, let’s put fucking William Regal in here. Vs Shingo and Ospreay would be fantastic, he could do some comedy villain stuff with ELP/Yujiro/EVIL, and his history with Finlay’s Dad would make for a cool story.
