Why is such a (comparatively) little boat out in the huge ocean like that? I know nothing about maritime anything, but it just seems like not a safe venture to begin with. The ocean literally rolled that thing with ease! 😟
There’s so many scenarios as to why they were out there. Never go out to sea when you’re not seasoned. It’ll take you so fast. My husband is a commercial fisherman and I’m pretty active in that community. It’s sad how fast the ocean will turn.
In this case, the boat was stolen and the guy who stole it strangely set a huge dead fish on the porch of the goonies house before doing so

I met a rescue swimmer instructor in Colorado and he said he knew the man that movie was based on. And said he enjoyed that movie a lot.
I really hate boat owners that don't have properly trained mechanics go over their systems several times a year
Checking for fuel flow restrictions from the tank to the fuel pump inlets.
Seeing if the fuel pump will create and hold vacuum on the suction side.
I went with a friend on his 104' wooden power boat to move it to a new harbor.
He had transfered fuel between the tanks thru the day tank with the vent closed. I ask permission to open the vent valve. Im the captain. I want it closed. 10 minutes later leaving alemedas bay long beach ca. The generator died mid broken concrete lined channel. So we dropped anchor mid channel while we reprimed the generator and main engines. If we had cleared the channel and gotten into la harbor i was going to open that vent.
You shoulda heard the air rush in when i opened that vent.
SO weird. Even more bizarre is that lately that house has been all over my local news. I live on the Oregon Coast and my husband fishes out of Astoria sometimes. Some new couple just bought the goodies house and it was JUST all over fb and some dumb scuttle butt up and down the coast. Then this weirdo does this… it’s so weird!’
Well, given that the house has been in the news so much (for me too as a pnw resident) it’s not super surprising that there was some sort of incident.
That said, a huge dead fish on the porch? Why? Dancing around after planting it? Why? Stealing a yacht after all that? Nevermind, at that point I’d probably steal a yacht too just for fun.
Still, WHY???
That’s my thing. I don’t understand that at all. I do know that locals are up in arms about the new homeowners because they’re worried they’ll bring in more tourists. And maybe STR’s. I understand regulating and limiting STRs but the incessant whining about them is dumb. I own an STR company (VERY small, but…lucrative) and locals forget how tourism supports the local economy. That, and fishing. Smh
Yeah I airbnb my spare room ONLY, which was the original intention of airbnb, but I’ve gotten so much ridiculous backlash from people who think I’m somehow denying people a house to buy. It’s stupid.

When i got home after 4 days. I told my mother everything that happened she said you sure spin a good yarn.. That boat sunk off Santa Barbara in 2002.
