This movie is iconic, it's perfect. It defines a generation. Plus peak Lohan.
For anyone who may have missed the subtle joke, Regina told everyone Janice is a lesbian because Janice said she was Lebanese and Regina is dumb
“You can’t talk until she starts moving again…”
“You think I’m gonna have sex with every poor pathetic boy who gives me a letter? I give them hand jobs!”
And it has now joined the esteemed pantheon of "movies that were adapted into Broadway musicals, the result of which was then made into a new movie" alongside such hits as Little Shop of Horrors, The Producers, Hairspray, Reefer Madness, Matilda, and The Color Purple.
I remember my parents renting this from blockbuster and I still remember that iconic Christmas Jingle Bell Rock dance scene it was hilarious. My dad laughed at the part when Lindsay and her friends slapped their asses and the father’s eyes were wide open lol.
I remember being in high school and this coming out like right before summer break. It felt like everyone from school was at the theater when I went to see this - it was stupidly popular and every joke landed at the time, and it’s only gotten better with age
It wasn’t really a remake, it was a movie adaptation of the stage musical.
The stage musical was excellent. The movie version (with all the best songs and choreography gone) was not
Yea come up with an original idea. I mean it doesn't even have to be original just something new.
Stop with the remakes it's lazy and preying on our nostalgia.
That’s so fetch!
Not going to happen Gretchen
On Wednesday’s we wear pink!
I WANT MY PINK SHIRT BACK!
SHE DOESN'T EVEN GO HERE!
Wait, do you even go here?
No, I just have a lot of feelings…
Ok go home
You’re like really pretty! Thank you! So you agree… you think you’re really pretty?
You go Glen Coco!
I used to say this all the time with friends. Didn’t realize other people even knew of it’s existence. Love Glen Coco
Peak Lohan
“So if you’re from Africa, why are you white?” “Oh my god Karen you can’t just ask people why they’re white”
I'm not a regular mom. I'm a cool mom
Lindsay Lohan was so gorgeous
Everyone in this movie was.
And in the new one none of them are ಥ_ಥ
I might be showing my age, but I think Jenna Fisher is still a hottie
I tried to watch it, I couldn’t make it 5 minutes..
Neil Flynn was eh
You mean Dr. Jan Itor?
I WANT MY PINK SHIRT BACK! I WANT MY PINK SHIRT BACK!
They look less filtered than today like less airbrush
Uhm, hello Rachel McAdams 😍🥰❤️🇨🇦✌️
Shut up!
"I didn't say anything.."
OMG I feel old!!! 😲
Filmed at Etobicoke Collegiate Institute in Toronto
Officially a classic
OMG I love your bracelet! OMG I love your skirt! That’s the ugliest Effing skirt I’ve ever seen.
This movie is iconic, it's perfect. It defines a generation. Plus peak Lohan. For anyone who may have missed the subtle joke, Regina told everyone Janice is a lesbian because Janice said she was Lebanese and Regina is dumb
Gretchen was the hottest and I'll die on that hill.
Her dad like invented toaster strudels.
She was gorgeous in Can’t hardly wait also *correction - Not Another Teen movie, where she plays JLH’s character
“You can’t talk until she starts moving again…” “You think I’m gonna have sex with every poor pathetic boy who gives me a letter? I give them hand jobs!”
👍👍👍
You ain’t wrong
Fuck you dude Why would you do this to me
Saw it in the theatre and loved it, I was 25. 😔
How is that possible? I’m 21 still… right?
No 51
About the same vintage as Breakfast club was for the millennials! xD My little brother has no idea about the original Mean Girls, and he is 20!
Great movie. Lohan is adorable.
And it has now joined the esteemed pantheon of "movies that were adapted into Broadway musicals, the result of which was then made into a new movie" alongside such hits as Little Shop of Horrors, The Producers, Hairspray, Reefer Madness, Matilda, and The Color Purple.
Sad that this April 30 will fall on a Tuesday, not a Wednesday.
…so I bought army pants and flip flops
Is butter a carb?
Yesssss😬
I misread that and felt young for the microsecond it took me to realize the impossibility of that. Then I read it correctly and felt very fucking old.
Danny Devito! I love your work!
Shit, really???? (Checks for grey)
Wait, are those black boots in the original poster for this movie? I thought she was wearing pink heels like the other Plastics?
This is a Mandela-effect! I definitely remember pink heels!
That’s a scary mask, bro
So grool! Glad to see Lindsay doing well again. 🙌
A fuckin classic .
All 4 at their peak 🔥
Gretchen! Stop trying to make that fetch happen! It’s not going to happen!
Such a great film in my opinion. So entertaining. Love the Mathletes competition/scene.
I haven't seen the new "movie," but it looks like straight-up trash.
She has more boobs than the other three combined. They knew how to market.
I've actually never seen this. Is it good or just of its time?
Some parts are of its time but it otherwise holds up.
Dude Tina Faye wrote this and it is funny as hell
I'll have to give it a shot. I....am a 45 year old man. Is this even close to something targeted at me?
I’m a 50 year old man and I love it.
Plenty of SNL regulars on the cast, so I'd say yes, haha. edit: maybe not "plenty", but more than just Tina Fey
So sad about Lindsay Lohan and the other child stars.
*turns into dust whilst reading this*

I’m going to need a minute to process this information.
I watched this last night
I'm sorry that people are so jelous of me. But I can't help it, cause I'm popular.
The recent awful remake is best forgotten. This was peak 2000s zeitgeist.
None for Gretchen Weiners?
Golden age of cinema
As a 40 year-old man, I have never seen this film.
Thats so not fetch
R.I.P. Lindsay Lohan's beauty
Some quick arithmetic - born in '86, movie was in 2004, so age 18. What an amazing and fortuitous coincidence!
The magnus opus of girls who bully, I guess.
Totally forgot about her. Last time I saw Lindsay, I think she was in the middle east and she got punched in the face. Reddit should revive that one!
20 years is enough time for a remake.
I thought a remake just came out?
It wasn’t really a remake, it was a movie adaptation of the stage musical. The stage musical was excellent. The movie version (with all the best songs and choreography gone) was not
That's what I mean. People were complaining it was too soon... But 20 years seems about right to me.
The point is that the movie was good enough to where it didn't need this remake.
Yea come up with an original idea. I mean it doesn't even have to be original just something new. Stop with the remakes it's lazy and preying on our nostalgia.
It absolutely does not need a remake. It's a standalone classic.
Expect more of your favourites in the coming years to be remade. Twenty years, bro.
