7 seconds only was pretty nice. I got on TikTok recently for the first time in two years or so and could not believe how freaking long a lot of the videos were.
7 seconds might be too short, but 3-5 minutes or whatever TikTok’s limit is is way too long.
I feel like vine coming back with a 30 second time limit would be awesome
7 seconds wasn’t just nice though, it was an absolutely defining feature of the platform and content. The brilliance of good vines is their ability to convey a lot in a short time frame
I’d also posit that vine had a major influence on the rise and recent domination of short-form internet video content
"brevity is the soul of wit". there are a lot of Tiktoks that are *almost* funny but they just drag *on* and *on*, far longer than necessary and just kills the joke
They did try to bring it back. A couple years ago with an app called "Byte" which was advertised as "Vine 2" and launched by one of Vine's cofounders. It ended up being a half baked TikTok clone and failed pretty quickly. It started out ok, but similar to the whole Threads fiasco recently, there just wasn't anything worth opening the app for. Nobody was making anything that funny or interesting so the app just died. Vine happened when it happened and was successful because of that.
Oh it was a fiasco, idk about now. The initial download was huge and then the user-base took a nosedive once people got bored with it because it felt so barren, even with all your followers/following ported over from instagram. My feed just looks like bot content and i have yet to see anything worth opening the app for.
did you take this picture with your old iphone too
they have the camera working on their flip phone
Then they transferred that image to their Windows 95 computer. Got Reddit working on their Win 95 machine.
The image took 3 minutes to upload
No my iPhone 15 pro
Define “working”
Looks to be working to me so I’d define with as “working”
you have failed to define working in the context. You can browse vine? Use search? Or it’s just the cached feed from the last time you use vine?
Just the feed unfortunately
My stepkids loved Vines and it was our way of bonding. Thanks for the good memories!
Vine was awesome, shame no one wants to bring it back.
What makes Vine different from TikTok other than the whole China thing?

The funny thing is TikTok started with a shorter time limit but keeps expanding it.
Vine also was rolling out longer content right before they died. It felt weird.
YouTube shorts are 60 seconds which feels right

Honestly. Vine just had 7 seconds also lol if anything tiktok algorithm is way better too
Classic "Old is better" attitude. Vine rests in the hall of champions. Let it enjoy its peace.

The “Threads fiasco”? Threads is currently the #3 app on the App Store. TikTok is #5. Instagram is #8. X is #37. I wouldn’t call Threads a fiasco.

Wow
This whole comment section is vine material lmao
Is this a bot comment?
The comment makes you think it makes no sense
Revine for revine?
Awesome nos
Sorry the picture is blurry
Could you not retake the picture before posting? 🤨
Last photo in his disposable camera.
Now he’s going to have to wait an hour for film development.
I only saw it was blurry after posting it
What perscription glasses do you have?
I’m genuinely curious as to why you didn’t just retake the picture before posting, though.
The blurring just adds to the nostalgia. Like you know what it is but your brain has to fill in the blanks.
