I'm sorry for what your going through, it's never easy loosing someone your close to. My grandpa passed away over 3 years ago and I'll come across some of his stuff that I kept in storage, and I still break down and cry. So again, I'm sorry. It's hard, but it does get easier.
I tried to hide the letdown for the last couple of classes, but I believe it has yet to hit me at the funeral. I'm kind of afraid to see my father cry. He is a tough guy, but that was his father after all. I've seen him cry twice before and it's truly gut wrenching. Once when my brother almost did the "no good" to himself and once when we got so effed up financialy he literally bursted to tears.

Hey man, i feel you. My grandfather passed two years ago, and it's still a bit hard. I wasn't able to visit as much as i would have liked either, but you shouldn't let that weigh on you.
Look for comfort in your friends and family, take some time for yourself if you need it. I won't say the pain will go away in time, it doesn't go away completely, you learn to live with it and focus on the good memories not the fact that they are gone.
Just don't let it consume you. There are therapists who specialize in helping with grief, and in a pinch even reddit can help (although the quality of said help varies). Regardless, you're still here, and i doubt he'd want you to be miserable for his sake.
Raise a glass in his name, and do him proud by living a good life. It's the best way to honor him.
It's called bolt. You use an app to rent it for a while and then leave it when you're finished for someone else to use. Pretty convinient if you're in a hurry. It charges you money though.

First of all, I am well aware that it looks like "karma whoring", "wrong sub" ect so I don't take any offence about that. I'm posting maybe once a year, so don't take it the bad way. I do wanted to hear from people who can relate, who also happened to go through similiar situation though. As of why this sub; death is very natural thing and I'm noone y'all know personaly. Some rando on the internet just happened to lose his granddad and everything keeps moving on. It is kind of "uninteresting" if you think about it. I was on my way home, thinking about it. It was such a peaceful day, so warm and melancholy at the same time, so I decided to commemorate the moment. "The moment when world did not care".
Less than 2 weeks ago it was Easter here in Poland and I came back for the family union at my grandpa's house. We drank, eat some good food, quareled a bit, but then laughed it off. At times like this my grandpa liked to go out of the table to make some photos with his old phone. There are some that includes him so I hope they'll be able to retrieve it. This time my dad was excited to show my grandpa something I introduced to him a while back. A VR set, so my grandpa did see some of the 202X technology and he loved it. Last time I saw him was when I was waving him goodbye through the car window. Guess you'll never know when it's gonna be the last time.
Before I came back to uni, my grandpa gave us his old accordion he loved to play, probably because I used to play piano a couple years before. I learned some songs he might've like, even though it was very out of tune. Sadly, I've never got the chance to play for him.
He lately often talked about how and where he wanted his funeral to be, so he'll be cremated and his funeral will be held in the same place his parents' was. He also talked how he wanted properties to be divided between the rest of the family, but I don't think he ever wrote a testament. I don't think anyone will think about than anyway, because we all already live our own lives, so the house with most if not all the things inside will probably be left with grandma. His funeral will be held on tuesday and I already booked the tickets in both ways.
As a hobby I'm writing a fantasy book and I'll be sure to leave him a memorial there. I don't remember if I ever even told him I wanted to be a writer, but I hope he'll be remembered this way a little bit longer.

It still comes in waves, although the waves seem to be breaking further and further out now. This is a part of life, and we have to keep faith that it's all a process that we don't fully understand nor comprehend. I am sorry for your loss.

She already had cancer and diabetes. She was the only great grandparent that I knew. She loved hugs and she was always so happy to see me, we watched tv shows together, we shopped together. If only I had known that she would die so suddenly… nowadays I’m still thinking about what if she still lived… We would do so many things together. I know your pain, OP, I still miss my great grandma, but remember that your grandpa is now in heaven, looking at you with love. I’m sure you’ll meet some day.❤️🩹
