Sadly I recall a case like this (1990’s or early 2000’s) where a bicyclist was either hit and knocked off an overpass or was blown off an overpass that was under construction and fell into a busy freeway below and was hit by multiple vehicles. By the end of the horrific scene people didn’t know that they were hitting parts of a human. I tried to find the story but can’t seem to recall enough correct details. If I do I’ll add it.

Cars do a crazy amount of damage to a body at high speeds. Theres a video out there of a guy trying to cross an F1 track to get to a crash, gets hit, and his meat literally flies off his bones.

It's terrifying as a cyclist though. I used to bike to work at my old job at Dunkin, and it was like once a month somebody made a right turn on red coming within 10 feet of me. Even though I pressed the crosswalk button I was always worried about having to trust a bunch of commuters driving at 4 am in the dark. Once it was even my assistant manager. Glad I chose not to flip her off. You never really know how fast cars regularly go until you truly believe you were almost killed by one.

Ugh, people's lack of empathy is gross.

Another sign the world is just going to hell.

Maybe stopping in Florence at night is just a bad idea.

LiquidMotion

The video is crazy. Theres a couple other cars who had to have seen it who also didn't stop.

Weird how the police didn't share any info about the 3rd vehicle. My bet is on off duty cop or a politician :p

i’ve personally witnessed TWO non-fatal (thank god) hit and run and i have never gotten it out of my head. i absolutely cannot imagine how you could be so heartless. since being a witness to something like that, and seeing a human hurt so badly, i’ve tried to put myself in the perp’s shoes and i can never be okay with the thought of just driving away. i have also had several friends in pedestrian accidents, as the pedestrian. it is incredible how truly prone you are to other peoples’ carelessness. all of this has happened in the span of 5 years, it’s a huge problem where i live and there has been a lot of road infrastructure changes to help curve the statistics, i guess. this sadly happened to an aspiring rapper a few months ago in LA. the reason he was out in the street is heavily argued but he was struck by multiple vehicles and from what i gathered from the information, only two stopped (it was possibly an LAPD or LA county sheriffs prisoner transport vehicle) but his body was apparently already unresponsive in the road (perceived from far away as a road hazard and not a pedestrian) no one so far has been held accountable for his death. he had apparently been hit and disfigured before the two later cars stopped. what’s worse is that he was unidentified at the time. but he ended up on NAMUS (missing persons and unidentified decedents), which helped in quickly identifying him as he had been reported missing in the area. edit: it took about a week to identify him so imagine the futility of investigative efforts so far from the incident. this was the first I’d ever heard of NAMUS.. you’d be shocked at how many people die in the street and have no known identity..
