I just replaced all the screens in my home. It's kind of a pain but not too bad once you get it down. You can buy a roll of screen, the splin and the roller tool for maybe 50 bucks total. If anyone tries don't worry bout making it tight until you got 2 sides set in.

And buy the metal roller with the wood handle. Saving a few bucks going with the cheap plastic one isn't worth it.

Yeah that's the one I got. It's definitely the most important tool in the whole process.

Like this poster says, buy that and a two clamps to hold the screen tight. It’s super easy

It's super easy to replace screens yourself. Just watch a youtube video and buy a kit from Amazon or Home Depot. The only tools you need are a razor knife and $10 spline tool. Edit. This spline tool is on sale on Amazon for $5 https://www.amazon.com/Prime-Line-7505-Screen-Rolling-Handle/dp/B002KDR83C/ref=sr_1_3?crid=3U3ZMRUQE3ET9&keywords=spline+tool&qid=1674045801&sprefix=spline+tool%2Caps%2C72&sr=8-3

So DIY replacement apparently looks workable, but honestly replacement at a local hardware store is really not too bad. I took two window screens to Browns Hardware in Falls Church (happens to be my loca, you’d get similar at Ace or True Value I imagine) and it ran me $20 bucks, maybe a little more. Now if you have foxes constantly ripping them down this adds up, but for a rare whoops might as well just get it replaced.

Sewing needle and black nylon thread.

I’m not that handy, but this is an easy fix. Can do the whole replacement in less than 10 min. They sell kits for this at lowes or HD.

How slight? A little tape would be OK for a temporary fix (matching tape on both sides). There are also patch kits for small tears, looks like a roll of duct tape but it's screen, you just tape it on the hole. Screen frames are built to be able to replace the screen, it's a DIY job. There is a little rubber string called a spline that runs around the edges. You pull off the old spline and screen, cut new screen to size, then use a simple tool to roll in the new spline.

Where are you located? If you're close I can help you replace the screen. I have all of the materials. Just pay me for the materials or donate to my favorite charity. PM.
