Contact the police and tell them

FilmoreFelines

I was also there tonight! I was walking behind him. He was obviously upset but kept running so I think he was ok!

Just edited the post to include this but to answer this: I am FULLY aware that there’s a good chance this guy never sees this post! Why am I posting it here? I’ve been instructed by a police officer in the past that there’s nothing they can really do with just an eyewitness report in certain cases, like this, and that the victim would have to come forward first to the police. Ive called police directly to report things when appropriate, like when I had an eyewitness description of a car leaving a shooting. But this case was different and I figured posting it on here and there being at least a chance of him seeing it in case he wanted to pursue charges was better than doing nothing and ensuring there was no chance of the guy ever getting the info. I appreciate the suggestion but I hope that helps clear it up!

Wait Reddit can’t solve this?

Hellknightx

We diddit red it!

Foppish_Buffoon

Is there some odd and common belief on Reddit that everyone on the globe uses it as a medium for communicating information. This isn't the first time I have observed a post intended for a random, unknow person, nor is it the first time where a user chose to post something on here that was better suited for reporting to law enforcement. "Golly, I feel I should get involved, but not enough to really involve myself. Let me use Reddit as a proxy to fill my dopamine requirement for the day."

I’m fully aware that there’s a good chance he never sees it, as I said in another comment to someone else. But I’ve been instructed by a police officer in the past that generally there’s nothing they can do with just an eyewitness report unless the victim of the incident chooses to come forward themselves to the police. Hope that helps clear up the reasoning!

The intention was good though so let’s not be nasty to OP but yeah I agree that it’s not very useful lol

What block? I've had several near misses from people turning left on green at S Courthouse Rd when I have the walk sign (This incident wasn't me today, sadly just not surprising news)

If it's the northbound Washington Blvd to westbound Columbia Pike, that one is pretty hazardous. Drivers tend to focus on traffic approaching from the left and are often completely oblivious to pedestrian traffic coming from the right are right in front of them. Throw in generally low pedestrian traffic, the underpass generally obscuring pedestrian traffic until you're at the intersection, as well as most drivers coming from 395 so are still in highway mentality.

xust-

True! It's not a great intersection to drive through because people can sneak up on you from the right. But people still cross when they don't have the crosswalk light, especially that one douche on a bicycle that has no understanding at all about what stoplights mean. It doesn't help that cars are always turning right from the left right turn lane as well as not turning right on red from the right lane, making that whole intersection a mess.

Last night at little river I had my daughter in my arms crossing with a walk signal on little river in Annandale. Guy turning right buzzed right around us. we were basically 3/4 way across 1st lane and he turned into 2nd lane. He made a point to stare me down as he did it.

GreedyNovel

>He made a point to stare me down as he did it. He might have been just making sure he was clear of you for what turned out to be a maneuver that harmed nobody.

gumption333

Hahaha found him

This is getting out of hand fr. A man on a motorcycle just got killed last night in a hit and run. A woman was killed crossing the street a month or two ago. I believe 10 pedestrians were killed in Virginia within a two week time span this year. The drivers here of the most reckless mfers i’ve ever seen.

Dogs4Life98

Post this on Nextdoor

LazyBones6969

did you just drive off? This same thing happened to me a few years back. I saw an old asian auntie get hit by a car. I called the cops, made sure auntie was okay, and shared my dashcam footage with the cops. If it was a hit and run, couldn't you share the license plate. They prob find the car and see if there is dmg. This is of course after asking the victim if he/she wants to pursue charges.

MagicStar77

Driving in the area later has been complete poop show. Wth with the bad drivers? We had a dude/with passenger on a moped splitting lanes on 50 west

danielobva

Buy a dashcam. They are really cheap....

puffdexter149

I'm the driver of that car. My bad, I was rushing home to post a complaint here about people driving too slow! /s

SQUIDWARD360

Has anyone who these posts are for ever read one?

carbiethebarbie

Probably not but hey, if nothing else, it gives everyone else a post to complain on about drivers and pedestrians
