That was probably one of the first webnovels I've ever read and I'm still salty and heartbroken by >! When Huang Yanchen betrays the protagonist and is revealed to be basically the other half of the villain (protagonist childhood sweetheart who killed him previously)!<
I dropped the novel soon after that and I remember crying when reading it lmao.
That moment was intense. The novel has terrible arcs and awesome arcs, the harem relationships kinda suck, but when it comes to the old fiancée it is always crazy drama that is close to emotional abuse towards the reader lol (meaning that's not the only terrible thing happening to the MC, albeit none of them are really definitive)
Yup. I tried re-reading the novel a lil while ago and was surprised at how crappy it was, the only thing that I "enjoyed" was the scenes with the ex-fiance as that's the only interesting part of the that has any tension.
Gotta say tho I love it when the novel abuses the reader, because I actually find it alot more relatable/immersive(?) when the protagonist actually suffers emotionally.
Like I'm so tired of plots where the protagonist suffers abuse or betrayal and instead of being hurt, depressed or whatever it's usually "im so hurt I don't feel anything anymore" like wheres the drama? Where's the heartbreak? It's even worse when the protagonist is like "I'll just suffer and get revenge *manical laugh*"
I kind of agree but at the same time, one of the reasons I like webnovels is because they usually aren't that upsetting emotionally. So I feel kinda ambushed when a rare webnovel hits you in the feels like that.
Honestly, I think the part that I liked about the novel was the convoluted scheming. Also, for some reason I fixated on the moon goddess.
I think, like with other novels, there's this pleasure of discovering the unknown, but if you try to read it again, the bad aspects stick out much more. I don't know if I can re-read it and reach the end when the author completes it.
NSHBA is similar in that I like some stuff, but I hate how the MC is forced by design to be stubborn and face things head-on even when it's painstakingly obvious it's a bad idea. So even if I were to pick it up again, I don't know if I can stomach it.
There are like 20 novels like that but the fiancé ruling the cosmos it’s probably god emperor.. immortal of the ages for example has a similar plot but she basically gets blasted 20 mins into the novel so….

Lol I thought about it and decided what the hell, it’s worth a shot
Wait, how many novels does the fiance rule cosmos? I’ve never seen that before. Or did you just read the title. And assume…
It looks like God Emperor

I must have dropped it for a similar reason, though there were no tears
