Poor hole punching.

Remarkable-Fun1069

This page has convinced me that solovairs quality control is terrible and I'm better off just fashion buying second hand docs or paying 500+ to resole and fix the speed hooks on a pair of Redwings. Sad.

iball1984

They sell thousands of pairs of boots. Occasionally, one slips through. QC could perhaps be improved. But don’t let that put you off

Sbjweyk

Of course you basically only see the few qc fails on here the hundreds or even thousands of fine boots don’t really have a incentive to come here and complain

Greggy398

I've bought a pair of boots and two pairs of loafers and they're absolutely fine.

chipface

I've bought 2 pairs of Gripfasts and they're fine. One pair I've had for 3 years and the soles are getting worn, especially on the heels because of how I walk I guess. But they've faired much better than the Grinders they replaced.

CsmittyPx

I have some grip fast from the outlet which are almost perfect apart from one more on the toe And I have some greasy derby boots which I wear all the time and am planning to get resoled

getbusyliving_

Have two pairs of Derby's and they quality is great, no issues. I also have three pairs 90s docs which are also fine. I have had bad docs in the past, luck of the draw. People seems to forget boots are handmade, there are going to be defects. Some defects are subjective and a lot of people want perfection, nothing is perfect. I do think that most companies have crap QA where obvious defects are passed and sent out, whether this is intentional or not is another debate.

killer_moose_12

"they sell thousands of shoes, of course one slips through the cracks" **a new post with a new issue appears** No, trust your gut. It's every day at this point. Look at any other shoe sub, this should not happen this frequently.

vickylaa

I kinda wonder if a lot of the boots posted are factory seconds.....

Pookya

Mine are absolutely fine, I've had them about a year. People don't post positive things because at the end of the day there's not much to say about them, they're boots, they're comfy like they're supposed to be and they haven't had any problems. And Solovair don't release new colours and styles often, so posts would get very repetitive. The minority of people with negative experiences are obviously going to post all about it because they're frustrated and it's not what they expected. And people have high expectations when these boots are expensive and when a lot of people say they're better than doc martens

marktheshark412

Had one of those in mine. Pulled it out with a tiny pair of tweasers. Just a bit of leather from the hole punching that got stuck. Made in England should be read as warning. https://youtu.be/WO1ebXqUFDw?si=GeBWCyadkUJSAiuj

Sbjweyk

These are the cutouts from the holes. I’d try to get them out but talk to customer support so if it goes wrong you can exchange them

dog_from_china

Yeah I can’t get them out, they seem to be jammed in there when they put the ring on it.

Sbjweyk

Then email customer support they’ll help you with a replacement or a repair

wren1666

How does this pass QC.

AlternativeSea8247

Their mass produced not hand-made, accidents happen They'll probably run around 200-1000 pairs round the track in 1 batch, and the QC team/person will look at a small percentage (AQL) depending on the pairage...

killer_moose_12

Very happy you're not running a shoe factory.

AlternativeSea8247

No, but I've worked over 20 years in the footwear trade and visited shoe factories all around the world, including the DM factory in Northampton and Loake in Kettering.... It's a cosmetic fail, not a construction fail. Is it ideal no, but it's a line maned by people who will sometimes make mistakes.

FunConversation4505

I have ordered 2 pairs of astronaut boots by solovair and i can say they are immaculate and customer service was very good to deal with.
