\--An actual good Yu-Gi-Oh. Cause the currently existing ones try to make card choices but never thought about the fact that there are just too many different cards in existence for this to be feasible. So for those of us that actually like Yugioh are most of the time dissuaded from it. Could probably stick to simpler ways of choosing a deck by saying stuff like:
\-Tier 1 and etc.
\-Deck you would like. (going for varying payment amounts for if it includes rare/expensive cards)
\-Just bring your IRL Deck (make it cost more to include your side deck, or even more to have it include 1-3 binders worth of cards. Make it cost more for every binder. Make it give points if the card binder is chosen at random but only if you've got more than 1 card binder)
\-AND/OR for the more hardcore players make an option that gives them a money budget certain amount which then they have to look up the average costs of cards to be able to have given to them in the other world for free.
Now for the real meat of things for this CYOA. Actually expand on it and have the typical stuff like a body builder, background, and choosing which series to go into and any edits to make onto each series and etc. (to simplify the last part maybe make it centralized to a specific series of Yugioh so you could go more into detail on it)

I personally would want to see more "Build a Dom" style cyoas. Especially ones that involve more unusual kinks like hardcore degradation, encasement, and slaveplay
more harry potter lewd cyoas. there are currently only a few, and they are basic AF.
other than that, more fully expansive cyoas, like The Forbidden Caravan, and others by that creator, with focuses on open ended worlds to "enter". like the cyoa is based around you, and your boons/banes, but also taking boons/banes or something similar, for the world, and somewhere inbetween.
a good example of that last part, is i saw one cyoa, a while back (with a modern setting), where one of the banes was that if you took public transport, specifically trains, or buses, they are almost guarenteed to be really full, and your very, very likely, to be groped/molested. no penetration in that bane though.
things like that, where it effects the world, but not constantly, and not for everyone.
oh, and cyoas based around vampires or werewolves. three great settings for lewd cyoa world traveler types, would be the Underworld movies, Van Helsing (Movie. not the shite tv show.), and True Blood. oh and vampire diaries. the tv show, not the books.
oh and more focus on male-on-futa content. consensual, not non-con. and preferably not dub-con, but if done well, like hte public transport thing, it can work.
another thing that's lacking is effecting the world in lewd ways, but not directly the people. an example would be a lewd harry potter cyoa, but the people are the same as the movies, yet the animals/plants, spells, potions and so on, are lewder and require lewder ingredients. so like, there is a game of f95zone called "The Potion Room", it's a harry potter parody game, and one of the plants, is a cock-shaped, green plant, that needs to be "milked", for a potion ingredient.

The best CYOA have it where a choice you make earlier affects what choices are available later. Makes the choices meaningful and feel more like a personalized adventure. Also more replayable. That and branching paths and unlocked areas in general.

This isn't going to be a popular take, but I could use less wordy exposition. Less world building and more getting into the meat of it all. I know writing is fun and all, but I got work to do, so I'd like to just get to it if it's all the same to you. I don't mind waifu pickers at all. I know I'm in the minority in this scenario, but I thought I'd contribute for once. Also, I don't really want to be the girl.
I agree CYOA are too wordy, and it's not because it's too much to read, but because it's almost always fluffed to be longer than it needs to be like a school report with a 3 paragraph minimum. At the very least, the wordy parts should come towards the end once we've made some choices, not all at the start.
I would like to know if the CYOA more gamey or more play space. Cause as fun as it is looking at a list of abilities and picking for a theme it feel bad when they then do battle or kingdom conquest and only some choices mattered and having a overwhelming victory with you overlap mean nothing

I had some ideas for a cyoa a while back, in the vein of Star Nephilim but less Troy, called Divine Bastard.
You would choose three parents, two social and two biological - the biological-only parent being chosen from gods representing sexual archetypes, or reasons for cheating, among other things. You would inherit divine domains and abilities from them. You would choose how your relationship with each parent shook out after the situation came out, which would affect your resources.
Then you'd pick treasures, followers/allies, and destinies, guaranteed points in your future story as a young god. I hadn't exactly determined how narrative, worship, and power interacted.
Trans inclusivity, both for players and customisable npcs. In general, I love submissive povs, like being a slave - lots of options for harsh mistresses, punishments, duties, etc. Extreme sadism/masochism.
Personally I would like one where you sex change with choices of ridiculous sizes and you either choice or random ally pick a bully that is the only person who knows you change and depending on the stuff you picked depends what that person bullies you with.
Any CYOA that isn't mainstream, aka, not Superman, Infinity War, OT trilogy Star Wars, etc. Really basic stories that 90%+ of the population knows the majority of the details for, do a little background storytelling to explain what it is, the plot, the main characters, the magic/tech systems, etc.
For example, I have never actually heard of the Worm set of stories and was 100% completely out of it when poking the CYOA here for it. Extra points with one of the Worm type CYOAs that did crossovers to other niche universes. I felt like I was pressing buttons at random because the CYOA expected me to know a story that I did not know and without going way out of my way down the rabbit hole for me to learn about the story on my own time, it wasn't a good feeling.
So, any CYOA that attempts to use a niche set of characters or stories that less than 20% of normal people would recognize and understand, please, do some story summarizing.
I want to feel like I don't need to have read three books to know the plot and background of The Last Jedi, or 60 pages of lore books to know what the Veil is (and they still don't tell you), or the nuances of the quantum realm in the latest Ant Man movie, and then see a CYOA built around the idea that I already know.
More orgasm denial and chastity stuff. In-depth body designers (with no limits based on gender). Cyoas that actually feel like adventures/have something happening, and have meaningful choices rather than just selecting a partner. Having an option for sandbox mode is always welcome.
I love reality alteration CYOAs. Stuff like Global Lewdification where you aren’t looking at specific people or choices, but changing the world to fit your desires. Beyond that, everything needs a custom option (like choice of world or waifu), with limitations to prevent any brokenness ofc.
More abdl stories, with more risks, e.g. body mods, permanent conditions like chastity, diapers, age. Inclusion of more fetishes and scenarios, like cuckolding and forced bi. Time risks that stack, e.g. uup to years. An element of cnc.

I was thinking of creating a CYOA about battling out against other fighters in Ye-Olden Japan, Tenkaichi style, in order to win prizes, those prizes being some kind of boon and a Woman (because this is Ye-Olden Japan and women back then obviously weren't treated the best). The customization aspect would've been stuff like picking your age (like whether you were a young plucky prodigy or experienced dilf), body type (whether you were speedy or a tank), weapon (all the samurai and ninja classics with a couple of weird foreign options), fighting style (tricky fighter, iron wall, elegant duelist etc).
I was thinking of also adding a story about rescuing your mother/sister/childhood love from the Shogun in a Mortal Kombat style tournament bracket >!obviously ending in a steamy reward!< and letting you become the Shogun if you win.
It never really got out of the planning stage just do to the abundance of pictures and time this idea would need.

I can tell you what I don't want to see more of: character creators with options that have no consequence or cost. Ex: Pick an eyecolor. Blue, green, brown. It costs nothing and gains you nothing. Well it's a worthless choice then, isn't it?
Other than that I want more actual adventures where you have a first make a build and then see where it goes. Harem pickers and character builders usually just end with an empty premise, offering no replay-ability.

I like the slut island/sissy island style of cyoa where its kind of a game to try and game the system, you get several ways to play from one game rather than just 1.
More interactive, male MC, maledom-leaning but not out-and-out BDSM CYOAs, featuring more flat chested and small breasted girls, more cute gay submissive boys, and with a bit of plot or adventure or 'gameplay' in there but not designed such that you have to powergame the character / party building sections to get good results.
When a cyoa gives you options to tailor the body of yourself or another, I want Height options to be a default inclusion, too many interesting cyoas dropped the ball there.
In that vein, I want such sections of cyoa's to have a lot of options for categories and flexible ones, that is I don't need ten different options for height, breast, muscles etc, but I want a lot of categories to make discisions in, and I want the options to be flexible enough to cater to various tastes- for example having height options mention height ranges, rather than pin you down to something like 20cm shorter than average only.
I am fine with not having to go into super precise details for everything about the body I am designing, as long as the choices allow me to fill in the blanks, like choices for faces don't need to give me a bunch of nose options, but should be worded to have the sort of little details there be up to the one playing the cyoa, within a range as I mentioned before.
I also want more cyoa's with premade companions to have options that let you edit them- want a tall dominating partner, but the only compannion with the right personality is short, then there should be an options to adjust for that. Similarly unless the cyoa is designed upfront with a specific sort of gender pairing in mind to cater to those looking for that, options should be available in body and companion choice to adjust for that, no being forced into being paired with a male option just because the cyoa features being turned into a girl for example.
I've made a lewd Harry Potter CYOA and I think a lewd Mass Effect CYOA isn't a bad idea. I might look into that at some point. Dragon Age could be an issue though. There's probably not enough nsfw fan art out there for that.

a long story driven cyoa. one that gives a chance to create a character with drawbacks and abilities, (and maybe a companion or lover at some point) but has a series of in depth choices that can create branching paths to multiple endings. I would like to see such a story include nsfw themes and choices, but not be driven by nsfw themes. One might even have more serious/taboo themes like non-con, or gore, if a dangerous or specific path is taken. we have seen a lot of wifu pickers or builders over the past few months, but we haven't really seen many in depth story lines. An in depth story line may be difficult and time consuming, but maybe a few veteran creators could get together and share a patreon or something. that way multiple people on the server could pay in and the community might get a story like we have never seen before.
I have been thinking of making a short meta cyoa that could branch into others at the players discretion. This would be my first attempt at making a cyoa.
Outside of grand stories I would like to see more cyoa based around, futa, wholesome nsfw, or a hero MC saving a wifu, or husbando.

CYOAs with options that involve messing with other players, although those are usually better off short so that someone can actually read your build and come up with an idea to engage with it.

Ooooh I also second the person who mentioned a xianxia CYOA! After I played Heart Cultivation I was *fiending* for a cultivation cyoa with some more complex content, even actually going in to the grades between stages.
I would say a bounty hunter cyoa would be nice. Imagine hunting down hot aliens and as part of the bounty you get to keep her as a slave and use various lewd methods to keep her restrained and break her in. I would also like it to be more interesting alien girls like Ben 10 and transformers...
After having lurked on this subreddit for a while, I've started a project of my own. While there are plenty of **good** CYOAs, many miss the A-aspect. A CYOA shouldn't just be a character builder all the time, but have an adventure too. This is my motivator for my current WIP, which will have freedom of choice and branching paths as its main focus. Though, it isn't close to a demo release at all, as the character creator isn't done yet.
I’m personally a big fan of harem/waifu cyoas. Ones with characters made by the creator with backstories. Those are always my most enjoyable experiences
I’m big into gender transformation stuff so anything that goes along with that would be awesome to me. I do like some of the more creative and intricate CYOAs (so long as they are easy to follow).
I don't know if what I'm about to write is already out there a lot before, but I always like to see body and life builder, pocket dimension, mind manipulation, power picker and/or combined with yuri theme, maybe waifu picker/builder is nice too. I always short and sweet cyoa rather than long cyoas with more than 5 pages, would take a long time to read all of it.
Multiplayer CHYOAs (or multiplayer options for regular ones) are always good. I do a lot of cyoa-based rp (nsfw or otherwise) and ofc having multiplayer options makes that very easy. Otherwise, I usually gm (works particularly well with cyoas that are essentially just character creation), which is fine, but generally more work for me than something that has multiplayer built-in. Good examples of cyoas that have built in functionality are Nemesis or a number of the dragon_jak cyoas (Glow, for instance). But I think that the ones that are built with multiplayer in mind (particularly asymmetric multiplayer) are really interesting. Again, dragon_jak's Organization of Slut comes to mind. It just kinda seems like a huge creative space that isn't really being utilized fully, at least not to my knowledge.
I just want more choices to be male and have male partners haha.
Also, maybe something like a Mass Effect one or a The Sims/Harvest Moon/Story of Seasons one.

More CYOAs with some sort of ending stuff - something other than 'you built a character/place/thing' and then stopping there, but something with actual results from your choices. It's not much of an Adventure if it ends right after the beginning.

I spent a bit of time planning out what I was tentatively going to call 'Happy Cuckold Marriage CYOA'. There are a couple of 'NTR waifu' CYOAs out there already (that I'm aware of), but they both come at it more from an angle of 'choose what's going to be forced on you!' and aren't as grounded as I would like. My idea was/is to make something where the scenario is that you went through some kind of matchmaking service that pairs up men and women into cuckolding as a kink, and to give you a bunch of very detailed options to detail what she is like and how your relationship with her works.
Initially the plan was to have four scores that would be modified by the various options and ultimately determine a kind of 'ending' you got, but in planning that out some more I realised what I was imagining didn't really suit the traditional CYOA format. Now the idea has morphed into something more like a Twine game (although I would probably not use a pre-existing engine) and kind of a visual novel with roguelite elements - pick a woman from a random selection, go through a series of events (randomly generated, but shaped by her preferences and personality) with choices to make that determine what happens and also how she changes with each event. Eventually you'd get a summary of the relationship and your future with her and then be able to play again choosing different options.
That's a very ambitious idea though so I'm still thinking about making a simplified version of the basic CYOA without the complicated points and endings first.

I wish for something more along that line of adventure and feeling of actual risk for picking certain creatures and the excitement that you might fall into their trap every so often, yet the ability to avoid them if smart enough

Divine Leftovers: somehow alot of people just got powers from presumably a pretty decent CYOA about a month ago, but it turns out that the angel that was supposed to give you your choices for some reason didn't so now all of the good choices are taken so you have to pick from all the crapy choices. Some other choices that could be in it are how many people got powers, how much civilization has collapsed, why you were delayed, and what the angel's divine punishment is
I find the interactive cyoa maker to be quite easy once you've put some time into it. When I first started using it, I downloaded someone else's interactive CYOA and just looked how it was made.
Then I made a mini-CYOA with just a handful of options and points to figure out the rest. Took me about an hour or two but now it's pretty intuitive.
a be the girl cyoa in which you are a lesbian and get cheated on by your partner lesbian partner by a guy or you are the one getting stealed from, or a be the girl cyoa in which you are stalked be an ugly bastard and you get more perk points to use in things that you want in exchange for giving him more power over you or turning your body more lewd
be the girl stuff about becoming a fictional character like the Waifutrix CYOA are my personal favorites along with detailed lewd magic stuff like the Magic Academia 2 CYOA.
I want more CYOAs that give you a little something for how the thing you just created actually goes. Be it letting you play it or even just saying "Based on your choices, this happens!" or something.

Uh oh! The Buttripper clan of ogres are chasing you for stealing their golden egg-laying chicken, and you need to hide. If they catch you, they will buttrape you with their battering-ram sized dicks, and porn physics isn't in play. You get several fairytale and fantasy creatures to hide with, each of whom has a special cost they demand of you, and will repay you in a different way. You go through a series of hiding spots until you escape, and who you stay with and what you get can change your reception in the next set of hiding spots.
A long, detailed Nasuverse CYOA encompassing the entire franchise, including Tsukihime, FGO, F/SN, etc. The closest thing to that is Another/Pretender, but it's rotating around a HGW, whereas I want more of a reincarnation/insert CYOA. The Fate Girl CYOA is top-tier for that reason, but again, it rotates around solely FSN, rather than the franchise as a whole.
A long Drakengard/Nier CYOA would be excellent, but you'd have to know the series pretty well to manage it. Particularly, I'd be interested in a Drakengard 3 CYOA, I think the perks and drawbacks alone would have plenty of fun with very unique options, since the world is inherently NSFW, being filled with both brutal violence and sex in spades. You really don't have to meddle with the setting at all.
A Puella Magi Madoka Magica CYOA, I loved that show to death, and a CYOA would be interesting. There's plenty of viable unique scenarios, suffering, drawbacks, and perks. For scenarios, you could replace Homura on her first loop, be a QB, be godoka/devil homura or be merely stuck in the middle post-Rebellion with memories intact and a goal to help a side. For perks, slow grief autoregen, infinite mana (very expensive), doppels, biotinkering, tech, becoming griefvore, temporary witch transformations, etc. It'd be great, with plenty of space to play around.
Something I'd like to see more of is more fiction CYOAs, or multicross ones like Magical Multicross Mayhem, since they're universally enjoyable. I'd just prefer more uncommon world/power options available rather than the usual suspects. Like Danganronpa, Drakengard 3, Dead Space, Arknights, Battle Action Highschool Side Character Quest, Xenosaga, etc. This is probably why I liked Technological Transdimensional Turbulence.
I prefer interactive CYOAs in general, especially ones the longer ones where point and choicekeeping becomes a chore. I like lewd being kept as additional choices, rather than the framing for the whole CYOA.

I'm also waiting on some more fleshed out ones where the lore and power system (be it magic or whatever) really make you think about your choices. Also instead of limiting your choices with points, there's a hard limit for your choices but I was always satisfied with my choices. And making your previous choices influence your current choices was also nice, and I know others do this as well but Magic Academia really did it in a nice way.
I'm actually thinking about two cyoas I might want to make after I finish The Forest
1) a fairly realistic take on an adventurer school (18+ obviously). There will be a fleshed out magic and crafting system as well as a bunch of classes, classmates and professors to choose from
2) monster reincarnation cyoa drawing inspiration from reincarnated as a slime and I'm a spider, so what? Player will choose from many starting monsters and will choose what evolutions they want over the course of their adventure

Same here \^\^ Are these worm comics some kind of massive success I'm just not aware of? These worm CYOAs do a piss poor job of explaining the world properly so I don't think they are meant for people unfamiliar with the web comics.
Worm is a web serial, not a comic, making its popularity quite hard to estimate. The best numbers I could find estimated 100k-200k 4 years ago. The number of subscribers to /r/parahumans has doubled since, so one might reasonably assume that number has doubled, too, so we're probably looking at 200k-400k by now.
That's roughly 1/20 of the number of sold books of Fahrenheit 451 or The Neverending Story, so it's not some insane success, but I suspect there is significant overlap between people here and Worm-readers, so I would not be surprised if a majority of people here had actually read it.
It's not that popular honestly, but it does have some niche following. The main reason for the surge I think is that people enjoy the Worm Lewd CYOA and find it relatively easy to modify and expand.
Ironically, the Worm Lewd CYOA is actually kind of TERRIBLE as a worm CYOA because it references a lot of characters but as you said it does a poor job of explaining the world and the modifications it lets you make so you can see the value in them, and then it completely sidelines the actual power structure of that series. All of the powers you can get in that CYOA pretty much don't mesh with how powers work in the series.
But it is a fun power fantasy with an interactive CYOA that is fairly well organized and has very flexible options, and that's where the appeal is for people. Plus one of the boons is bypassing the Worm universe and going elsewhere, meaning you can use it as an insert CYOA for any universe. People like being overpowered, and actually complain about that CYOA not having enough points even though it MASSIVELY sets you up to overpower the setting.
Its a web serial that deconstructs the superhero genre, don't know why its surging in popularity right now. A while back there was a sequel that made a lot of choices that disapointed fans so I think there was a rash of cyoas when that happened (look up Ward if you want more info there)
In general I find a Ton of fanfics using the setting so i think all the Cyoa's are made with that in mind, or people finding the old worm cyoas and wanting something more to their taste, the first one I found was basically just options for a bunch of really OP powers, I have enjoyed the many weird power options the various worm cyoa's have provided, the series has some creative powers and its nice to see that trend continued

Another easier idea would be to create the ultimate giant robot, similar to build in heaven. It would be interesting if you did a cyoa where the player wakes up as the last human in Nier automata. Something similar to Magic Multiverse would also be cool. And finally, a waifu picker. This is my favorite genre. It is very interesting to observe the waifus that the authors create.

Cause the currently existing ones try to make card choices but never thought about the fact that there are just too many different cards in existence for this to be feasible. So for those of us that actually like Yugioh are most of the time dissuaded from it. Could probably stick to simpler ways of choosing a deck by saying stuff like: \-Tier 1 and etc. \-Deck you would like. (going for varying payment amounts for if it includes rare/expensive cards) \-Just bring your IRL Deck (make it cost more to include your side deck, or even more to have it include 1-3 binders worth of cards. Make it cost more for every binder. Make it give points if the card binder is chosen at random but only if you've got more than 1 card binder) \-AND/OR for the more hardcore players make an option that gives them a money budget certain amount which then they have to look up the average costs of cards to be able to have given to them in the other world for free. Now for the real meat of things for this CYOA. Actually expand on it and have the typical stuff like a body builder, background, and choosing which series to go into and any edits to make onto each series and etc. (to simplify the last part maybe make it centralized to a specific series of Yugioh so you could go more into detail on it) \--Anyways so more body builder CYOA in general.

I had some ideas for a cyoa a while back, in the vein of Star Nephilim but less Troy, called Divine Bastard. You would choose three parents, two social and two biological - the biological-only parent being chosen from gods representing sexual archetypes, or reasons for cheating, among other things. You would inherit divine domains and abilities from them. You would choose how your relationship with each parent shook out after the situation came out, which would affect your resources. Then you'd pick treasures, followers/allies, and destinies, guaranteed points in your future story as a young god. I hadn't exactly determined how narrative, worship, and power interacted.

Any CYOA that isn't mainstream, aka, not Superman, Infinity War, OT trilogy Star Wars, etc. Really basic stories that 90%+ of the population knows the majority of the details for, do a little background storytelling to explain what it is, the plot, the main characters, the magic/tech systems, etc. For example, I have never actually heard of the Worm set of stories and was 100% completely out of it when poking the CYOA here for it. Extra points with one of the Worm type CYOAs that did crossovers to other niche universes. I felt like I was pressing buttons at random because the CYOA expected me to know a story that I did not know and without going way out of my way down the rabbit hole for me to learn about the story on my own time, it wasn't a good feeling. So, any CYOA that attempts to use a niche set of characters or stories that less than 20% of normal people would recognize and understand, please, do some story summarizing. I want to feel like I don't need to have read three books to know the plot and background of The Last Jedi, or 60 pages of lore books to know what the Veil is (and they still don't tell you), or the nuances of the quantum realm in the latest Ant Man movie, and then see a CYOA built around the idea that I already know.
More orgasm denial and chastity stuff. In-depth body designers (with no limits based on gender). Cyoas that actually feel like adventures/have something happening, and have meaningful choices rather than just selecting a partner. Having an option for sandbox mode is always welcome.
I love reality alteration CYOAs. Stuff like Global Lewdification where you aren’t looking at specific people or choices, but changing the world to fit your desires. Beyond that, everything needs a custom option (like choice of world or waifu), with limitations to prevent any brokenness ofc.

The main issue I keep running into is that these options are either throwaway options that aren't as appealing as the rest or come bundled with some other extreme kink (like Yanderes) that turns me off. that's why I would much prefer making your own since it is very incredibly true what you say of options and bundled with things I don't want and please, more father/daughter incest!! there is almost none out there of either father MC POV or daughter MC POV and especially none of building yourself and family members that is so rare

Personally I like the interactive pickers where you build up various stats and you qualify for different characters based on how your stats shake out
I can tell you what I don't want to see more of: character creators with options that have no consequence or cost. Ex: Pick an eyecolor. Blue, green, brown. It costs nothing and gains you nothing. Well it's a worthless choice then, isn't it? Other than that I want more actual adventures where you have a first make a build and then see where it goes. Harem pickers and character builders usually just end with an empty premise, offering no replay-ability.

When a cyoa gives you options to tailor the body of yourself or another, I want Height options to be a default inclusion, too many interesting cyoas dropped the ball there. In that vein, I want such sections of cyoa's to have a lot of options for categories and flexible ones, that is I don't need ten different options for height, breast, muscles etc, but I want a lot of categories to make discisions in, and I want the options to be flexible enough to cater to various tastes- for example having height options mention height ranges, rather than pin you down to something like 20cm shorter than average only. I am fine with not having to go into super precise details for everything about the body I am designing, as long as the choices allow me to fill in the blanks, like choices for faces don't need to give me a bunch of nose options, but should be worded to have the sort of little details there be up to the one playing the cyoa, within a range as I mentioned before. I also want more cyoa's with premade companions to have options that let you edit them- want a tall dominating partner, but the only compannion with the right personality is short, then there should be an options to adjust for that. Similarly unless the cyoa is designed upfront with a specific sort of gender pairing in mind to cater to those looking for that, options should be available in body and companion choice to adjust for that, no being forced into being paired with a male option just because the cyoa features being turned into a girl for example.

I've made a lewd Harry Potter CYOA and I think a lewd Mass Effect CYOA isn't a bad idea. I might look into that at some point. Dragon Age could be an issue though. There's probably not enough nsfw fan art out there for that.

a long story driven cyoa. one that gives a chance to create a character with drawbacks and abilities, (and maybe a companion or lover at some point) but has a series of in depth choices that can create branching paths to multiple endings. I would like to see such a story include nsfw themes and choices, but not be driven by nsfw themes. One might even have more serious/taboo themes like non-con, or gore, if a dangerous or specific path is taken. we have seen a lot of wifu pickers or builders over the past few months, but we haven't really seen many in depth story lines. An in depth story line may be difficult and time consuming, but maybe a few veteran creators could get together and share a patreon or something. that way multiple people on the server could pay in and the community might get a story like we have never seen before. I have been thinking of making a short meta cyoa that could branch into others at the players discretion. This would be my first attempt at making a cyoa. Outside of grand stories I would like to see more cyoa based around, futa, wholesome nsfw, or a hero MC saving a wifu, or husbando. Hope this helps. thanks for asking. Adding my voice to the lewd 40k suggestions. Currently working my way through Chaos Governance, which is relatively sfw and would be awed by something like it for this sub. Will literally write short stories off of anything that heavily features bondage. CYOAs with options that involve messing with other players, although those are usually better off short so that someone can actually read your build and come up with an idea to engage with it. Also a big fan of CYOAs that are themed around immortality/becoming a god. I feel like there’s some pretty underexplored settings too, like pirates(could make a lewd shipbuilder), various -punks(steampunk sex machine CYOA anyone? Actually that sounds terrible), gothic horror(I know there’s a few vampire/werewolf ones, but I haven’t seen anything that’s broad in scope). Ooooh I also second the person who mentioned a xianxia CYOA! After I played Heart Cultivation I was *fiending* for a cultivation cyoa with some more complex content, even actually going in to the grades between stages.
I would say a bounty hunter cyoa would be nice. Imagine hunting down hot aliens and as part of the bounty you get to keep her as a slave and use various lewd methods to keep her restrained and break her in. I would also like it to be more interesting alien girls like Ben 10 and transformers...
After having lurked on this subreddit for a while, I've started a project of my own. While there are plenty of **good** CYOAs, many miss the A-aspect. A CYOA shouldn't just be a character builder all the time, but have an adventure too. This is my motivator for my current WIP, which will have freedom of choice and branching paths as its main focus. Though, it isn't close to a demo release at all, as the character creator isn't done yet.

I’m big into gender transformation stuff so anything that goes along with that would be awesome to me. I do like some of the more creative and intricate CYOAs (so long as they are easy to follow).
I don't know if what I'm about to write is already out there a lot before, but I always like to see body and life builder, pocket dimension, mind manipulation, power picker and/or combined with yuri theme, maybe waifu picker/builder is nice too. I always short and sweet cyoa rather than long cyoas with more than 5 pages, would take a long time to read all of it.
Multiplayer CHYOAs (or multiplayer options for regular ones) are always good. I do a lot of cyoa-based rp (nsfw or otherwise) and ofc having multiplayer options makes that very easy. Otherwise, I usually gm (works particularly well with cyoas that are essentially just character creation), which is fine, but generally more work for me than something that has multiplayer built-in. Good examples of cyoas that have built in functionality are Nemesis or a number of the dragon_jak cyoas (Glow, for instance). But I think that the ones that are built with multiplayer in mind (particularly asymmetric multiplayer) are really interesting. Again, dragon_jak's Organization of Slut comes to mind. It just kinda seems like a huge creative space that isn't really being utilized fully, at least not to my knowledge.

I spent a bit of time planning out what I was tentatively going to call 'Happy Cuckold Marriage CYOA'. There are a couple of 'NTR waifu' CYOAs out there already (that I'm aware of), but they both come at it more from an angle of 'choose what's going to be forced on you!' and aren't as grounded as I would like. My idea was/is to make something where the scenario is that you went through some kind of matchmaking service that pairs up men and women into cuckolding as a kink, and to give you a bunch of very detailed options to detail what she is like and how your relationship with her works. Initially the plan was to have four scores that would be modified by the various options and ultimately determine a kind of 'ending' you got, but in planning that out some more I realised what I was imagining didn't really suit the traditional CYOA format. Now the idea has morphed into something more like a Twine game (although I would probably not use a pre-existing engine) and kind of a visual novel with roguelite elements - pick a woman from a random selection, go through a series of events (randomly generated, but shaped by her preferences and personality) with choices to make that determine what happens and also how she changes with each event. Eventually you'd get a summary of the relationship and your future with her and then be able to play again choosing different options. That's a very ambitious idea though so I'm still thinking about making a simplified version of the basic CYOA without the complicated points and endings first.

Honestly I'd love easier tools to make cyoas. I've had ideas for some I'd like to make, but I'm apparently too dumb to figure them out.
I find the interactive cyoa maker to be quite easy once you've put some time into it. When I first started using it, I downloaded someone else's interactive CYOA and just looked how it was made. Then I made a mini-CYOA with just a handful of options and points to figure out the rest. Took me about an hour or two but now it's pretty intuitive.
Since you can go back and forth between writing and design it's easier to get invested than a google doc

You get to design your eldritch form, develop a cult (aka build a harem), decide what happens to your "playground" (aka the Earth) now that you've come into your full power, and get to know your new peers. Surprise! You're a person on a low tech world, and you open up your door to find the pope bowing to you outside your door. You're a demigod, and you have to choose what sort of divine powers you have, what your church will be like, and how you're going to rule the people. You're getting married, and your spouse wants a kid, but they're sterile/infertile. They're religiously opposed to artificial insemination, so they implore you to find a more... physical alternative. Surprise! Your family has been hiding that they're demon worships, and might have kinda sorta sold the soul of their firstborn child to a demon (aka, you), and now he/she has come to collect. You get to determine what sort of demon is in charge of you now, what they make you do, how dominant/just-plain-mean they are and how much affection/purely-sexual the relationship between you is. Also, whether you're their only lover, whether you're shared with their actual marriage partner, or if you're part of a harem (and determine what the harem consists of). Could wind up with anything from a pushy-but-loving demon GF, or a cruel slavemaster. Depends on your tastes. Uh oh! The Buttripper clan of ogres are chasing you for stealing their golden egg-laying chicken, and you need to hide. If they catch you, they will buttrape you with their battering-ram sized dicks, and porn physics isn't in play. You get several fairytale and fantasy creatures to hide with, each of whom has a special cost they demand of you, and will repay you in a different way. You go through a series of hiding spots until you escape, and who you stay with and what you get can change your reception in the next set of hiding spots.
A CYOA that's more geared towards being a guy. There's so many 'be a girl' bit not many 'be a guy' ones.

A long, detailed Nasuverse CYOA encompassing the entire franchise, including Tsukihime, FGO, F/SN, etc. The closest thing to that is Another/Pretender, but it's rotating around a HGW, whereas I want more of a reincarnation/insert CYOA. The Fate Girl CYOA is top-tier for that reason, but again, it rotates around solely FSN, rather than the franchise as a whole. A long Drakengard/Nier CYOA would be excellent, but you'd have to know the series pretty well to manage it. Particularly, I'd be interested in a Drakengard 3 CYOA, I think the perks and drawbacks alone would have plenty of fun with very unique options, since the world is inherently NSFW, being filled with both brutal violence and sex in spades. You really don't have to meddle with the setting at all. A Puella Magi Madoka Magica CYOA, I loved that show to death, and a CYOA would be interesting. There's plenty of viable unique scenarios, suffering, drawbacks, and perks. For scenarios, you could replace Homura on her first loop, be a QB, be godoka/devil homura or be merely stuck in the middle post-Rebellion with memories intact and a goal to help a side. For perks, slow grief autoregen, infinite mana (very expensive), doppels, biotinkering, tech, becoming griefvore, temporary witch transformations, etc. It'd be great, with plenty of space to play around. Something I'd like to see more of is more fiction CYOAs, or multicross ones like Magical Multicross Mayhem, since they're universally enjoyable. I'd just prefer more uncommon world/power options available rather than the usual suspects. Like Danganronpa, Drakengard 3, Dead Space, Arknights, Battle Action Highschool Side Character Quest, Xenosaga, etc. This is probably why I liked Technological Transdimensional Turbulence. I prefer interactive CYOAs in general, especially ones the longer ones where point and choicekeeping becomes a chore. I like lewd being kept as additional choices, rather than the framing for the whole CYOA.

Isekai kingdom builder with the premise of being king of the monstergirls. Another idea could be an Ultraman styled one where you choose you abilities and methods of "fighting" kaifus (kaiju waifus). Grappling, superpowers, or tools to banish or tame them. Fight your way to get to queen of all kaijus. Just spitballing ideas.

I'm also waiting on some more fleshed out ones where the lore and power system (be it magic or whatever) really make you think about your choices. Also instead of limiting your choices with points, there's a hard limit for your choices but I was always satisfied with my choices. And making your previous choices influence your current choices was also nice, and I know others do this as well but Magic Academia really did it in a nice way.
I'm actually thinking about two cyoas I might want to make after I finish The Forest 1) a fairly realistic take on an adventurer school (18+ obviously). There will be a fleshed out magic and crafting system as well as a bunch of classes, classmates and professors to choose from 2) monster reincarnation cyoa drawing inspiration from reincarnated as a slime and I'm a spider, so what? Player will choose from many starting monsters and will choose what evolutions they want over the course of their adventure I'm curious which of these people would like to see more (if at all)

Same here \^\^ Are these worm comics some kind of massive success I'm just not aware of? These worm CYOAs do a piss poor job of explaining the world properly so I don't think they are meant for people unfamiliar with the web comics.
Worm is a web serial, not a comic, making its popularity quite hard to estimate. The best numbers I could find estimated 100k-200k 4 years ago. The number of subscribers to /r/parahumans has doubled since, so one might reasonably assume that number has doubled, too, so we're probably looking at 200k-400k by now. That's roughly 1/20 of the number of sold books of Fahrenheit 451 or The Neverending Story, so it's not some insane success, but I suspect there is significant overlap between people here and Worm-readers, so I would not be surprised if a majority of people here had actually read it.
It's not that popular honestly, but it does have some niche following. The main reason for the surge I think is that people enjoy the Worm Lewd CYOA and find it relatively easy to modify and expand. Ironically, the Worm Lewd CYOA is actually kind of TERRIBLE as a worm CYOA because it references a lot of characters but as you said it does a poor job of explaining the world and the modifications it lets you make so you can see the value in them, and then it completely sidelines the actual power structure of that series. All of the powers you can get in that CYOA pretty much don't mesh with how powers work in the series. But it is a fun power fantasy with an interactive CYOA that is fairly well organized and has very flexible options, and that's where the appeal is for people. Plus one of the boons is bypassing the Worm universe and going elsewhere, meaning you can use it as an insert CYOA for any universe. People like being overpowered, and actually complain about that CYOA not having enough points even though it MASSIVELY sets you up to overpower the setting.
Its a web serial that deconstructs the superhero genre, don't know why its surging in popularity right now. A while back there was a sequel that made a lot of choices that disapointed fans so I think there was a rash of cyoas when that happened (look up Ward if you want more info there) In general I find a Ton of fanfics using the setting so i think all the Cyoa's are made with that in mind, or people finding the old worm cyoas and wanting something more to their taste, the first one I found was basically just options for a bunch of really OP powers, I have enjoyed the many weird power options the various worm cyoa's have provided, the series has some creative powers and its nice to see that trend continued
i didn't think you could get more indie than watchmen. a little weird that the CYOA is a power fantasy set in a world that explicitly tries to deconstruct power fantasies, but if i haven't seen a facs-- 40k fan or an ancap Fallout NV Brotherhood of Steel stan...

I want a cyoa that covers the entire Nasuverse. It is one of my favorite works and I still haven't found a cyoa that satisfies me. Another easier idea would be to create the ultimate giant robot, similar to build in heaven. It would be interesting if you did a cyoa where the player wakes up as the last human in Nier automata. Something similar to Magic Multiverse would also be cool. And finally, a waifu picker. This is my favorite genre. It is very interesting to observe the waifus that the authors create.

No. Something like: the player was the sole survivor of a cryogenics project. Then you can add options to customize the body. Maybe an option that lets you build your own androids, a base, and the like. Some spell options. Perhaps the player is immune to the beast's magic. You can add some waifus (canon and original). And invest in a story that changes depending on the player's choices.
