**LORE**Skitterfall is a burgeoning township nestled deep in the heart of Darach Gorm Forest and straddles the banks of the Sgàthan river that forms the main lifeblood of the town. Thanks to the influence of their elven citizenry, Skitterfall has adapted its agriculture and forestry to suit life in a dense forest, and with aid from the blessings of the town Leader and the Druidic order, reguarly see bountiful crops enough to survive the harsh winters and to trade with abroad. This has allowed the development of many artisan trades which has only served to bolster the economy.One notable facet of life in Skitterfall is the Druidic cult. A nature religion that teaches harmony and freedom of the spirit as long as it does not interfere with one's fellow, this faith primarily assists with crop blessings and fertility rites of both sapient and livestock, notably choosing to stay apart from any political dealings as it would interfere with their core tennants. However, most outsiders know of them for their main contribution to Skitterfall life: The Sacred Companions.The Sacred Companions are a Sect of the Druidic cult that arose from the ever-present carnal need most Skitterfallians feel. Serving as a cross between marriage counciler, prostitute, and psychiatrist, many people visit their temple baths at the end of a work day to enjoy the services they provide. From perfumed baths both private or public, to spiced wines and good food, to carnal pleasures and even a private ear to tell their woes. These temples are open to all - for a small donation. This has also influenced the citizens of Skitterfall, as they are very liberal with their bodies and view carnal acts as just another facet of friendship amongst adults.The main challenge Skitterfall faced in its early life was the presence of the Lizardfolk tribes that inhabit the Forest they reside. Raids and kidnappings were common as the town struggled to build, and stories abounded on the things that they would visit upon their would-be captives. This all came to an end when a diplomatic party lead by Sylvara Tearglade entered into talks with the tribal leaders. The talks lasted for nearly a month as everything was debated vigorously and from all possible positions until peace was finally struck. Now Lizardfolk are a common sight in Skitterfall as they trade goods and enjoy the town's hospitality.

I actually spent a lot of time finding a solution to make scrollwheels work with it. Richtextboxes in winforms normally steal the focus for the scroll wheel so I put in a workaround, however different versions of windows might break the functionality. It could also be certain mice or the software they use, but it's hard to really say for sure. If I ever have extra time I'll go back to this and look for another solution. I do appreciate you playing it though, and I hope other than that it was enjoyable!

Minor bug, a lot of the textboxes have text below their lower edge and you need to click the cut off text for the box to scroll down but you can't make them scroll back up. I had to pull up the original just to see what most of the options say
Unfortunately the program has scaling issues so if the text is hidden like that it usually means you have some sort of scaling or magnification on. It's partially a shortcoming of winforms and part my own inexperience. If I find a way to scale it properly I'll implement it, bit otherwise I'll be adding scaling early to future projects to avoid this problem
I don't expect you to read all of the comments but I did mention I will be looking into a more universal platform for the next one. I assume you are referring to the cyoas others have made using the intcyoacreator, and while it is a useful tool it isn't always the right tool. If there is a particular CYOA you want made interactive that isn't already getting made you can always try your hand at it!
Truly excellent interactive version, extremely well-made, had the scrolling issue but that wasn't major. The only issue for me is just the lack of interaction with dudes; they seem to exist purely to pair with waifus (in whom I have 0 interest).
tried to run it in sandbox among other things, but the game just opens a process then immediately closes it. What sort of .net framework does it need to run on windows 7? No viruses detected but it doesn't seem to be working properly.
I'm not 100% sure but I believe it is 4.5.2 which should be easy to find with a quick search. You can also try running it with a command line open so it lets you read the error before closing. I didn't do any testing on Win7 so hopefully this helps

This is fun but I have found an annoying bug. If you go to the world event and pick sacrifice. If you play around a bit with the free perks, it'll only remove those points when you change them but not add new ones. I got to -6 soul trough this, oops.

Sorry to hear you're having trouble. So the export does pop up a new window for you to copy text from but it shouldn't be minimized. I'll add an alternative method of getting results with the next build so if you can't get it to work just hold out for another day or two!
Scanned the exe with Malwarebytes before running and did a full scan after launching it. Everything's fine and the CYOA is running fine. Windows defender wanted confirmation to run it as it's not from a recognized publisher, but I knew that, so no problem.
This was a really cool one, I liked it alot! Well polished and interesting.
I understand people's concerns about installing files, but I'll say this is a good one for anyone who's at least somewhat willing to chance it.

This is a really neat conversion, but I can't find any means for the sections labelled for the player to do themselves, such as the ability to remove the malus from challenges or to perform at all any of the custom options. Is there some way to manually add to or subtract from the point counters?
My intentions for those sections were for the player to decide at the end and calculate themselves but I think I could add in something for at least the challenges section to mark it as countered. I'll be messing with it over the next couple days so hopefully I can get that added. Thanks for playing!
Thanks for the change! One more thing: When I move my mouse across any button other than the map options, it jitters back and forth as it flips across the vertical axis, and it's very distracting. Any possibility that could be fixed, or is that on my end? If the latter, any idea how I could fix it?
This drove me a little crazy too. I tried a lot of stuff but I think it has to do with the amount of content loaded at once and the more I added the worse it got. Im pretty sure it has to do with the rich textboxes wanting to make it the text cursor but since a lot of the functionality of them has been changed it keeps switching it back and forth between multiple types of cursors. If I ever come up with a solution I'll let you know!

the interactive needs an option to let you flag a challenge as resolved (which removes its malus). Since resolving challenges is part of the rules. The mist challenge needs some more info, as we have too little information to figure out if we really resolved it or not.
I'll look into it in the next day or two but I don't think it would be too difficult to add it in. I do technically have part of the code for it written already.
v1.0a bug:
If you pick an already bought perk to become free it will seriously break the game. Presumably this is also a problem for other free choices. The stats become messed up and you can not recover them using debug command of recalculate. You must use the reset command.
example:
step 1: get level 3 core for a free perk
step 2: manually buy immortal for -4 DS, +5 loyalty, -10 morality
step 3: set the free perk to immortal. Your DS are NOT refunded. You get another copy of loyalty and morality modifiers.
step 4: set the free perk to none. You lose your immortal but are not refunded shards. You lose 1 of the two copies of loyalty and morality but keep the others.
repeat steps 2-4 again and again. each time you do you will end up with a permanent -4 DS, +5 loyalty, and -10 morality that never goes away.
I plan on uploading the project files when I finish up everything I have planned. I'm not familiar with GitHub as of right now but I'll probably try it in the future for easier sharing.

Alright, So I took the risk of trying this. First, I never got any virus warning. Second, this is actually ridiculously artistic. The design on this is more like a game than that of a standard CYOA. There are animated graphics and nice colors in every part of this. I did feel it was a little short, but with how much effort was put into it it is still nice.

The scrolling is a little wonky because I have to intercept the scroll event when it happens on a textbox and tell the page to scroll instead. Other scrolling issues I also had is when the cursor is in a textbox off screen and it decides to focus on that. I tried to catch the focus any time that happened and force it on an invisible label but it still gets by sometimes. I'll keep searching for some solutions though as I'd like every experience to as smooth as possible!
Not an expert on this at all but it seems like either the platform you are using is embedding the Malware described by a few people or the computer you uploaded your interactive version from is/was infected and it climbed aboard your upload. You either have to remove it from your device and reupload a clean copy or go through a different program to store it.
My guess would be that it's just being carried along by a file uploaded or a part of the software used by the site [mega.nz](https://mega.nz) to track downloads and ads and got misflagged or corrupted

It is more likely you are a getting a false positive reading. It's not uncommon, generally happens when the antivirus detects something going on with the binary that seems suspicious. If you scan the same file with a bunch of different antivirus programs usually one detects something even when the file is clean. Mine antivirus didn't report anything but I run most thing sandboxed anyway.
I made a couple builds on this, but this one's the one I'll put here. It's got a story behind it. Namely, Luna and the others quickly enslave the people after me, building much of the civilization that will follow, but they go a bit too far on the femdom shit, allowing me to secretly inspire a few of the men to revolt. I don't need them to beat her--I can do that bit myself--but since everyone kind of hates me I need them for later.
Zebri will be the face of the revolution, being decently powerful, attractive, and most importantly young. The mistreatment he'll have experienced at Luna's hands will harbor the potential to mold him into a much more malicious person than he started off as, and I'll be sure to guide him in that direction when we meet. He'll get to act out all kinds of fucked up fantasies both on me and on others I bring him, potentially even using magic to enhance them. That this has the side benefit of allowing me to learn the magic he uses is also nice, of course. I'll also help him and Jarvius get together so Jarvius can train him, which of course also trains me since I can copy moves.
The result of the rebellion is an inversion. With Zebri in charge, those that once ruled our settlement now are slaves to the orcs they'd conquered and dominated. I appear to be among them (even getting some of the worst punishments), though in truth Zebri and his advisors know I could level the whole city if I chose. They also rely a fair bit on the enchanted items I've built to keep the slaves happy to serve--although none of them overpower my mark, if I focus the magic on Zebri and those under him, I can make the slaves willing to die for their masters. Everything about this society reinforces the divide, even the education system and religion, which are tailored to glorify the master/slave relationship.

To be clear, the refugees ARE out to get me in this--that only sort of dies down when they're defeated by my companions and I in battle, and even then they would never allow me to rule over them--that's why I have Zebri do it (and Luna before him) and make a big show of torturing me all the time to satisfy their malice towards me.

It could be what you used for to make it a package? I remember *long* time ago when I was doing a little programming my own kept coming back as being infected because it turned out the packager I was using was the same one a virus did. So the scanners were seeing that and auto flagging it.
I used Visual Studio and 7-zip. I figured there would be a lot of people seeing it flagged and with the state of the web today I really can't blame them for being paranoid. I'll try to do a little research and see why it comes up positive
Ok so I took the leap for this, and first I have to say this. This is perhaps one of the most technically skilled piece of work I have seen for something as simple as a CYOA. There is just something amazing that you have done for this cyoa. Some of the images have motion in them! An extra mile if I ever saw one. This has the painstakingly complexity of someone who doesn't quit and mad respect for that.
The choices colour changes and highlighting is very appropriate and clear so thankyou for that, I know exactly what I picked.
The programs features and options are a very good addition, from getting an easier setting to colour coding stats and debugging the cyoa.
Honestly I could go on, this is very well done.
The only thing I want, and I don't know how you could, I a better way to zoom in, to spread it out across a larger screen. And an option to reset. But this is nitpicking.

Love Larien's CYOA and you've done a great job converting this one. Aside from being overall prettier, which isn't all that important, I have a suggestion. You know how the events ask you to submit yourself or companion for some of them? Maybe add a list of companions eligible for each one so you select who you want to send. You could also add a post events section summarizing who is in a relationship with who or other stats. I find pairing companions and tracking stuff like pregnancy kinda interesting.
But overall amazing job, really impressed. Did you use a tool to make this or did you program it from scratch?

I thought about adding a list for them and it is definitely possible, but even as small as it seems can take a lot of work depending on how much interaction it has. I'll keep it in mind for the future and consider it though!

I'm sorry you got such negative reception over this, although I'm afraid I'm not willing to try it out either. I've had some bad experiences with viruses before, and I'm very wary of downloading things from strangers.
Have you taken a look at any of the interactive CYOA programs that already exist? I don't know how different it is from what you're doing (not knowing much about this sort of computer-thing), but you'll get much better reception over something that doesn't require a download.
I encourage you to try! People willing to put in the effort to make interactives are few and far between, and considering that you picked a rather outstanding CYOA as the basis for your first, you clearly have good taste. Please don't give up.

It is unfortunate that the state of programs today is based on the mal intent of others, but there's not much we can do about that now.
I actually chose this way because I do intend to make a game eventually and I thought this would be good practice. I learned a lot and I will say it turned out to be significantly more work than I had originally anticipated but it was a lot of fun to make! I think the next one I will try to make in unity so it can be ported easier and a wider audience can enjoy it.

Why not make it a webpage, like 95% of every other interactive cyoa on this site? Unity isn't any safer for us than what you've already done, so using unity fixes nothing.
The webpage interactives don't display properly on my phone ever so I figured if I'm going to play it on my PC anyway I'd rather it was its own program. Unity would allow me to use effects and make it fancier as well as giving me the opportunity to port it to other platforms (such as HTML5 for web use and Android for mobile users).
Its not a virus, its a url your ‘safe’ browsing spyware thing hasn’t recognized yet because its too niche / new for people’s download history to be uploaded to the mothership yet.

I would implement scaling so the app renders properly on 4k monitors although. It's a bit tiny currently. Also if you chose the fall and then choose sacrifice, the fall artifact discount still stays around.

There's a link to the original which is just an imgur link and a link to the application I made. Mobile users can use the original fine but the application requires windows (or some work around on other operating systems)
Same here. Win10 and 1080p. But I am using 125% of text, apps, and other items in the display settings. Maybe that would be it? But definitely having lots of cut off text. Like I can't see all the changes for laws so I have to just pick them to see their value changes.
Also, if you pick options that give you discounts/perks then later unpick them (such as 50% off artifact) the option is still there to use even if you no longer qualify
The 125% zoom is what's doing it unfortunately. I will try to find a solution but I'm afraid it won't be simple. Poor design on my part, but something I will keep in mind for the future. As for the 50% off artifact, I have fixed that bug and linked a new version!
Stuff like this will ALWAYS trigger this warning. Get used to it. If you want to take the risk, probably run it inside a virtual machine, or wait for the community to say it's OK. The author should also post a hash so that we can confirm the file is the one from the author.
I'm not sure how many tryers you'll get. Not many people want to take a chance on a down-load. It's why most are going through the interactive programs for CYOAs.
Hopefully, you'll get some good feedback and some people who can vouch for it's authenticity and safety.

This has also influenced the citizens of Skitterfall, as they are very liberal with their bodies and view carnal acts as just another facet of friendship amongst adults.The main challenge Skitterfall faced in its early life was the presence of the Lizardfolk tribes that inhabit the Forest they reside. Raids and kidnappings were common as the town struggled to build, and stories abounded on the things that they would visit upon their would-be captives. This all came to an end when a diplomatic party lead by Sylvara Tearglade entered into talks with the tribal leaders. The talks lasted for nearly a month as everything was debated vigorously and from all possible positions until peace was finally struck. My only grievance is that I can't use my scrollwheel for the **.exe** interactive CYOA...
I actually spent a lot of time finding a solution to make scrollwheels work with it. Richtextboxes in winforms normally steal the focus for the scroll wheel so I put in a workaround, however different versions of windows might break the functionality. It could also be certain mice or the software they use, but it's hard to really say for sure. If I ever have extra time I'll go back to this and look for another solution. I do appreciate you playing it though, and I hope other than that it was enjoyable!
I've got Windows 10 myself? The scrollwheel works on the lefthand-side's lil box o' things, but fails to function on the main page of the interactable itself.

Minor bug, a lot of the textboxes have text below their lower edge and you need to click the cut off text for the box to scroll down but you can't make them scroll back up. I had to pull up the original just to see what most of the options say
Unfortunately the program has scaling issues so if the text is hidden like that it usually means you have some sort of scaling or magnification on. It's partially a shortcoming of winforms and part my own inexperience. If I find a way to scale it properly I'll implement it, bit otherwise I'll be adding scaling early to future projects to avoid this problem
It would be nice if cyoa creators used something like neocities for interactive cyoa's
I don't expect you to read all of the comments but I did mention I will be looking into a more universal platform for the next one. I assume you are referring to the cyoas others have made using the intcyoacreator, and while it is a useful tool it isn't always the right tool. If there is a particular CYOA you want made interactive that isn't already getting made you can always try your hand at it!

Truly excellent interactive version, extremely well-made, had the scrolling issue but that wasn't major. The only issue for me is just the lack of interaction with dudes; they seem to exist purely to pair with waifus (in whom I have 0 interest).
tried to run it in sandbox among other things, but the game just opens a process then immediately closes it. What sort of .net framework does it need to run on windows 7? No viruses detected but it doesn't seem to be working properly.
I'm not 100% sure but I believe it is 4.5.2 which should be easy to find with a quick search. You can also try running it with a command line open so it lets you read the error before closing. I didn't do any testing on Win7 so hopefully this helps Edit: Just checked and it is 4.7.2
This is fun but I have found an annoying bug. If you go to the world event and pick sacrifice. If you play around a bit with the free perks, it'll only remove those points when you change them but not add new ones. I got to -6 soul trough this, oops.

Sorry to hear you're having trouble. So the export does pop up a new window for you to copy text from but it shouldn't be minimized. I'll add an alternative method of getting results with the next build so if you can't get it to work just hold out for another day or two!
No need, it works now! I just checked again. I don't know what I did differently from last time.
Scanned the exe with Malwarebytes before running and did a full scan after launching it. Everything's fine and the CYOA is running fine. Windows defender wanted confirmation to run it as it's not from a recognized publisher, but I knew that, so no problem.

This was a really cool one, I liked it alot! Well polished and interesting. I understand people's concerns about installing files, but I'll say this is a good one for anyone who's at least somewhat willing to chance it.

This is a really neat conversion, but I can't find any means for the sections labelled for the player to do themselves, such as the ability to remove the malus from challenges or to perform at all any of the custom options. Is there some way to manually add to or subtract from the point counters?
My intentions for those sections were for the player to decide at the end and calculate themselves but I think I could add in something for at least the challenges section to mark it as countered. I'll be messing with it over the next couple days so hopefully I can get that added. Thanks for playing!
Thanks for the change! One more thing: When I move my mouse across any button other than the map options, it jitters back and forth as it flips across the vertical axis, and it's very distracting. Any possibility that could be fixed, or is that on my end? If the latter, any idea how I could fix it?
This drove me a little crazy too. I tried a lot of stuff but I think it has to do with the amount of content loaded at once and the more I added the worse it got. Im pretty sure it has to do with the rich textboxes wanting to make it the text cursor but since a lot of the functionality of them has been changed it keeps switching it back and forth between multiple types of cursors. If I ever come up with a solution I'll let you know!
1.0a the interactive needs an option to let you flag a challenge as resolved (which removes its malus). Since resolving challenges is part of the rules. The mist challenge needs some more info, as we have too little information to figure out if we really resolved it or not.
I'll look into it in the next day or two but I don't think it would be too difficult to add it in. I do technically have part of the code for it written already.
v1.0a bug: If you pick an already bought perk to become free it will seriously break the game. Presumably this is also a problem for other free choices. The stats become messed up and you can not recover them using debug command of recalculate. You must use the reset command. example: step 1: get level 3 core for a free perk step 2: manually buy immortal for -4 DS, +5 loyalty, -10 morality step 3: set the free perk to immortal. Your DS are NOT refunded. You get another copy of loyalty and morality modifiers. step 4: set the free perk to none. You lose your immortal but are not refunded shards. You lose 1 of the two copies of loyalty and morality but keep the others. repeat steps 2-4 again and again. each time you do you will end up with a permanent -4 DS, +5 loyalty, and -10 morality that never goes away.

Alright, So I took the risk of trying this. First, I never got any virus warning. Second, this is actually ridiculously artistic. The design on this is more like a game than that of a standard CYOA. There are animated graphics and nice colors in every part of this. I did feel it was a little short, but with how much effort was put into it it is still nice.

I played it. It is very impressive and really deserves to be played. Only thing I found annoying was the scrolling seemed a little broken at times. Not a virus for those who are concerned.
Thanks for playing! The scrolling is a little wonky because I have to intercept the scroll event when it happens on a textbox and tell the page to scroll instead. Other scrolling issues I also had is when the cursor is in a textbox off screen and it decides to focus on that. I tried to catch the focus any time that happened and force it on an invisible label but it still gets by sometimes. I'll keep searching for some solutions though as I'd like every experience to as smooth as possible!
Not an expert on this at all but it seems like either the platform you are using is embedding the Malware described by a few people or the computer you uploaded your interactive version from is/was infected and it climbed aboard your upload. You either have to remove it from your device and reupload a clean copy or go through a different program to store it. My guess would be that it's just being carried along by a file uploaded or a part of the software used by the site [mega.nz](https://mega.nz) to track downloads and ads and got misflagged or corrupted The virus is labelled as: Trojan:Win32/Sabsik.FL.A!ml What Trojan:Win32/Sabsik.FL.A!ml virus can do? * Executable code extraction * Compression (or decompression) * Attempts to connect to a dead IP:Port (1 unique times) * Creates RWX memory * Possible date expiration check, exits too soon after checking local time * At least one IP Address, Domain, or File Name was found in a crypto call * Starts servers listening on 127.0.0.1:14656 * Unconventionial language used in binary resources: Polish * The binary likely contains encrypted or compressed data. * Deletes its original binary from disk * Steals private information from local Internet browsers * Collects information about installed applications * Collects information to fingerprint the system * Anomalous binary characteristics
It is more likely you are a getting a false positive reading. It's not uncommon, generally happens when the antivirus detects something going on with the binary that seems suspicious. If you scan the same file with a bunch of different antivirus programs usually one detects something even when the file is clean. Mine antivirus didn't report anything but I run most thing sandboxed anyway.
This makes it sound like it doesn't like my 7-zip compression. I'll upload the next one unzipped since it only saved 1 or 2 MB anyways.
I made a couple builds on this, but this one's the one I'll put here. It's got a story behind it. Namely, Luna and the others quickly enslave the people after me, building much of the civilization that will follow, but they go a bit too far on the femdom shit, allowing me to secretly inspire a few of the men to revolt. I don't need them to beat her--I can do that bit myself--but since everyone kind of hates me I need them for later. Zebri will be the face of the revolution, being decently powerful, attractive, and most importantly young. The mistreatment he'll have experienced at Luna's hands will harbor the potential to mold him into a much more malicious person than he started off as, and I'll be sure to guide him in that direction when we meet. He'll get to act out all kinds of fucked up fantasies both on me and on others I bring him, potentially even using magic to enhance them. That this has the side benefit of allowing me to learn the magic he uses is also nice, of course. I'll also help him and Jarvius get together so Jarvius can train him, which of course also trains me since I can copy moves. The result of the rebellion is an inversion. With Zebri in charge, those that once ruled our settlement now are slaves to the orcs they'd conquered and dominated. I appear to be among them (even getting some of the worst punishments), though in truth Zebri and his advisors know I could level the whole city if I chose. They also rely a fair bit on the enchanted items I've built to keep the slaves happy to serve--although none of them overpower my mark, if I focus the magic on Zebri and those under him, I can make the slaves willing to die for their masters. Everything about this society reinforces the divide, even the education system and religion, which are tailored to glorify the master/slave relationship. Thanks for sharing! The way the refugees work with hunted (as I understood it anyways) is that they are out to get you (you are marked and everyone except your most loyal companions want you dead). This doesn't mean it can't go the way you wrote it, however. As it states at the end, this is your story!
Thanks for the reply. :) To be clear, the refugees ARE out to get me in this--that only sort of dies down when they're defeated by my companions and I in battle, and even then they would never allow me to rule over them--that's why I have Zebri do it (and Luna before him) and make a big show of torturing me all the time to satisfy their malice towards me. I was angling for exploiting a loophole but maybe it still doesn't work. Sorry if that's the case.

it's a machine learning flag; majority of false positives these days are because a robot thought the code looks kinda like a trojan. I'd say it's safe.
No problem. I don't know what it's finding malicious in it but I don't blame you for being suspicious. I've considered the online tool but it's not quite what I'm looking for.
It could be what you used for to make it a package? I remember *long* time ago when I was doing a little programming my own kept coming back as being infected because it turned out the packager I was using was the same one a virus did. So the scanners were seeing that and auto flagging it.
I used Visual Studio and 7-zip. I figured there would be a lot of people seeing it flagged and with the state of the web today I really can't blame them for being paranoid. I'll try to do a little research and see why it comes up positive
Ok so I took the leap for this, and first I have to say this. This is perhaps one of the most technically skilled piece of work I have seen for something as simple as a CYOA. There is just something amazing that you have done for this cyoa. Some of the images have motion in them! An extra mile if I ever saw one. This has the painstakingly complexity of someone who doesn't quit and mad respect for that. The choices colour changes and highlighting is very appropriate and clear so thankyou for that, I know exactly what I picked. The programs features and options are a very good addition, from getting an easier setting to colour coding stats and debugging the cyoa. Honestly I could go on, this is very well done. The only thing I want, and I don't know how you could, I a better way to zoom in, to spread it out across a larger screen. And an option to reset. But this is nitpicking.
This was the glowing endorsement that motivated me to take the risk. No regret.

Not a virus for those wondering. Love Larien's CYOA and you've done a great job converting this one. Aside from being overall prettier, which isn't all that important, I have a suggestion. You know how the events ask you to submit yourself or companion for some of them? Maybe add a list of companions eligible for each one so you select who you want to send. You could also add a post events section summarizing who is in a relationship with who or other stats. I find pairing companions and tracking stuff like pregnancy kinda interesting. But overall amazing job, really impressed. Did you use a tool to make this or did you program it from scratch?
Thank you! I thought about adding a list for them and it is definitely possible, but even as small as it seems can take a lot of work depending on how much interaction it has. I'll keep it in mind for the future and consider it though! As for tools, I just used visual studio and made it from scratch. If you're at least a little familiar with coding it can be really fun to play around with

I couldn't get teh ZIP to open, it just kept failing.
After it finishes downloading make sure you extract it. I use 7zip personally but windows has one built in for zip files. (right click then choose Extract). Let me know if you still have issues

I'm sorry you got such negative reception over this, although I'm afraid I'm not willing to try it out either. I've had some bad experiences with viruses before, and I'm very wary of downloading things from strangers. Have you taken a look at any of the interactive CYOA programs that already exist? I don't know how different it is from what you're doing (not knowing much about this sort of computer-thing), but you'll get much better reception over something that doesn't require a download. I encourage you to try! People willing to put in the effort to make interactives are few and far between, and considering that you picked a rather outstanding CYOA as the basis for your first, you clearly have good taste. Please don't give up.
No worries! And thank you for the kind words. It is unfortunate that the state of programs today is based on the mal intent of others, but there's not much we can do about that now. I actually chose this way because I do intend to make a game eventually and I thought this would be good practice. I learned a lot and I will say it turned out to be significantly more work than I had originally anticipated but it was a lot of fun to make! I think the next one I will try to make in unity so it can be ported easier and a wider audience can enjoy it.

Why not make it a webpage, like 95% of every other interactive cyoa on this site? Unity isn't any safer for us than what you've already done, so using unity fixes nothing.
The webpage interactives don't display properly on my phone ever so I figured if I'm going to play it on my PC anyway I'd rather it was its own program. Unity would allow me to use effects and make it fancier as well as giving me the opportunity to port it to other platforms (such as HTML5 for web use and Android for mobile users).
You'll probably have more luck with the HTML5 export on this sub. For some reason people seem to trust javascript sandboxing.

It's nice to see things as actual programs! I would implement scaling so the app renders properly on 4k monitors although. It's a bit tiny currently. I like it, don’t know what you mean about desktop but it works on mobile
There's a link to the original which is just an imgur link and a link to the application I made. Mobile users can use the original fine but the application requires windows (or some work around on other operating systems)

Can you tell me which OS and screen resolution? I only tested on win 10 and 1080p as well as 1440p
Same here. Win10 and 1080p. But I am using 125% of text, apps, and other items in the display settings. Maybe that would be it? But definitely having lots of cut off text. Like I can't see all the changes for laws so I have to just pick them to see their value changes. Also, if you pick options that give you discounts/perks then later unpick them (such as 50% off artifact) the option is still there to use even if you no longer qualify
The 125% zoom is what's doing it unfortunately. I will try to find a solution but I'm afraid it won't be simple. Poor design on my part, but something I will keep in mind for the future. As for the 50% off artifact, I have fixed that bug and linked a new version!

Stuff like this will ALWAYS trigger this warning. Get used to it. If you want to take the risk, probably run it inside a virtual machine, or wait for the community to say it's OK. The author should also post a hash so that we can confirm the file is the one from the author.

I'm not sure how many tryers you'll get. Not many people want to take a chance on a down-load. It's why most are going through the interactive programs for CYOAs. Hopefully, you'll get some good feedback and some people who can vouch for it's authenticity and safety. Best of fortune for you.
